Your child being abducted... That is, in my opinion, one of the worst things that can happen to a parent. You blame yourself for that one moment of taking your eyes of the ball and you live to regret it.

I understand this. You are human after all and predators have a radar for acting during these few seconds of  you not watching your little one. The uncertainty you feel as a parent must be atrocious. What will happen to your little mite? Will you ever see them again?

As hours, days, weeks go by, you are losing hope and you have to force yourself to keep going on, never forgetting those blood curdling moments when you realised what had happened.

The author takes us back and forth between the past and the present and of course does what every author does: point the reader in a certain direction. I followed that like a good little sheep :), but somehow I was thinking when it's too obvious, does this mean that it's true or did the author lurk somewhere in order to give the final blow and make my head spin? That's for me to know and for you to find out. ;)

Anyway as per usual the author wrote a great book filled with moments of utter sadness and utter happiness. I loved, loved it, but that's nothing new because all her stories are wonderful. 5 stars

Thank you

Bestselling author Shalini Boland has outdone herself in The Other Daughter where protabonist, Rachel is having coffee with friends at the mall while her 2 1/2 year old daughter, Holly, plays in the children’s play area. Holly is kidnapped and is never found. That is, until nine years later when Rachel is living in Dorsett and a new family moves in. Rachel notices their older daughter, Bella, looks just like Holly would probably look, and she is sure Bella is her long lost daughter. Rachel gets to know Kate, Bella’s mother, and is sure it was her that kidnapped her daughter. Rachel has two other children and lives with a loving boyfriend. When she confides in her boyfriend that she is sure Bella is her long, lost daughter, she attempts to get enough evidence to go to the police, causing problems, since she begins to follow Bella and even breaks into Kate’s house to get DNA evidence.

Boland is excellent at weaving a fascinating storyline, with a couple of sub-plots that tie into the main story perfectly. The characters are well developed and seem real. The setting in a small town in England adds charm to the story,(along with English idioms which are fun) and the unexpected twists and turns keep readers on the edges of their seats.

The dénouement doesn’t come until the very end and will leave readers stunned. The novel is fast moving and well-written. This is an enjoyable novel.

Special thanks to NetGalley for supplying a review copy of this book.

I received a digital arc of this from netgalley in exchange for an honest review. Having not read anything by this author before I wasn't sure what to expect. However she came highly recommended to me by a friend and it had great reviews so I was excited to read it. I couldn't put this book down! The short chapters kept my interest, and it is a relatively short book anyway - as is the case with most of her books. All the way through I was trying to work out what the twist would be, but it still floored me! Just brilliant. I can't wait to read more books by this author.

Shalini Boland is the queen of thrilling reads. The Other Daughter is every parent's nightmare - the disappearance of their child, seemingly in front of their eyes while chatting with a friend. 9 years later, Rachel has moved on and is living a quiet life when she meets a new friend Kate and her teenage daughter Bella. Bella seems familiar and there's a reason why, she is Rachel's long-lost daughter. Rachel is determined to get her back and nothing will get in her way. What ensues is a wild ride. Unfortunately, the ending really didn't hold up for me and took this book down a few stars from what I am use to experiencing with this writer. This one is "skip it" for me.

Wow. Just that, wow. I read this in one sitting. This story was NOT what I expected and I don't want to gov3 anything away, so I will leave it short and sweet. Go read this book! Hope you enjoy it as much as I did!

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for this ARC on exchange for an honest review.

This was my first book by Boland, and I’m glad to say that it won’t be my last. This book was a fast paced thrill ride with a nice juicy twist at the end. I enjoyed the writing even though at times I really had suspend disbelief. The main character, Rachel was a bit over the top with some of the actions she took. But overall I enjoyed the book and will give this author another read in the future.

Well, I have to say that I never saw THAT coming. The book was interesting and I wonder how it was going to be different from the others and the author did just that!
It was about a woman whose child had been kidnapped years earlier and had continued her life with a boyfriend and 2 children. She met a woman at school pick up and that woman had a daughter who was the correct age and looked exactly like what her kidnapped daughter would have looked like.
The book was short and a fast read. The author did a good job making me feel the desperation of the mother. I could empathize with how she was feeling and also the actions she took.
The ending was good and fit the book well. Though some aspects were far fetched, overall it was a great book!
A recommended read if you like psychological dramas.

A woman’s child is kidnapped. Just one year later and she moves away, trying to put it behind her she never mentions her missing daughter. WHAT?! I stopped reading right there. No mother anywhere would move on and never mention it. That’s ludicrous! Right then I decided I couldn’t sympathize with the lead character. This landed in my DNF&DNR pile.

Thank you for granting permission for me to read this ARC. My apologies for the low review.

A complex, suspenseful plot with tension so thick that it felt palpable. Wonderfully-developed characters with depth and substance. I was immediately drawn in and held captive from beginning to end.

Had me hooked from the beginning. Huge twist, maybe too much of a twist for some but I liked it. Look forward to reading more by Shalini Boland. Thank you.

Nine years ago, Rachel's 2.5 year old daughter Holly was taken from a shopping mall while she was chatting with a friend. Today she has moved on to a happy life with her boyfriend Matt and 2 children. She meets a new school parent, Kate, whose daughter looks strikingly like her missing daughter Holly. Rachel is convinced it IS her daughter and will stop at nothing to get her back. When the police fail her, she takes things into her own hands.
I loved this book!! My favorite genre is the psychological thriller, and boy was this one a doozy! I had ideas of what kind of twists were coming, but then BAM!!!!! Came out of nowhere!! A fast-paced page turner that will keep you reading and leave you satisfied.
Thanks to Shalini Boland, Bookouture and NetGalley for the ARC!

A missing child. A new life. What would you do if you thought your missing child had moved in to your area? Would you be able to confront that fear? Read on! Love this writer. Never lets you down. 5/5.

Rachel's daughter was taken from her in a shopping centre while she had coffee with a friend 9 years ago. Now a new family has moved to town with a daughter the same age as Holly and a resemblance that makes Rachel sure it is her missing daughter,

Rachel realises no one will believe her without evidence so sets herself the talk of proving this is her daughter.

This book has twist and turns I certainly didn't see coming.

The end will leave you reeling!
