Another amazing 5 star story by TL Swan. Since I discovered this author a few months ago, I can’t seem to get enough of her great stories. Emily met Jim on a plane, they have a stopover due to bad weather. They connected and spent an unforgettable night together. Now a year later they meet again. He owns the company she started working for. Things are about to get very interesting. This was a very humorous kind of story. Jim is a broody, stressed out CEO. She doesn’t take his crap and she’s not a pushover. The bantering between these 2 is quite funny and highly entertaining. Beautifully written with a seamless plot that sucked me in the world of the imagination. I was addicted and entertained until the very last page read. The characters were perfectly created. It is also suspenseful. Bottomline this is a must read. Standalone told in a dual POV with an HEA. I strongly recommend this story. |
3.5 stars I can't believe I'm going to say this but, I wondered all the way through the first half of this book if they were going to do anything other than have sex. I mean, seriously, like every other page they were going at it again. They did seem a little sated towards the last 1/4 of the book but it took away from the story for me. I would have liked for the characters to spend a little more time fully clothed and a little less time bickering. The push and pull, all the back a forth wore on me a little. Having said all that, I did enjoy the book. This is my first read from T.L. Swan and will likely read the rest of the series. |

I received an ARC of this book and am so grateful. It is pure romance that had my rooting for Emily and "Jim" from the very beginning. They don't have the most conventional start to their relationship as they meet on an airplane and spend a special night together during a layover, but their relationship really takes off when Emily gets her dream job working for "Jim's" company. The sparks, banter and undeniable attraction kept me engaged and not wanting to put the book down! |

Such a great story. This was not what I was expecting, but in a good way. Jim and Emily meet on a plane ride and have some hot chemistry. He doesn’t ask for her number and they don’t see each other again. Emily moves to New York for her dream job at Miles Media, where she sees Jim. They begin a messy relationship. They are both very hot headed and don’t back down from an argument. I loved how Emily was a strong woman and didn’t let her carnal urges take over her reasoning. There were so many times he broke her heart through this book that I wasn’t sure if she’d ever give him a real shot. My heart broke right along with hers. The writing was so amazing, I got lost in the story and characters and I devoured this book in 1 day. I most definitely will read more books from this author. My review was given honestly via an ARC from Netgalley. |
This is my first TL Swan read but I know it won't be my last. I love finding new to me authors at I know I will search out again. The Stopover is the beginning of the Miles High Club and if you are about a bossy alpha male then I think you should check out this series. You will meet the four Miles brothers and they are used to getting what they want. In this book we have Jameson the CEO as our lead. As the CEO for Miles Media Jameson is too busy for love and relationship. So when an attractive woman who honestly doesn't know who he is, he lets his guard down a little and decides to have some fun during the long flight from London to New York. He wasn't prepared for the longing and feelings that would stick with him long after he was gone. Pleasantly surprised a year later when she shows up as their newest employee. Emily has been working towards her dream job at Miles Media for years. Finally after many interviews and a year later she has finally landed that job. She is jumping right into the management floor. Moving herself from California to New York alone to follow her dreams. Imagine her surprise when she is taken in the CEO's office for introductions and finds Jim her life changing one night stand during a layover. This book was a constant push and pull between a bossy man used to getting what he wants, including woman falling at his feet and a smart sassy young woman who is independent, refusing to be pushed around. As they navigate their way into each others lives slowly, they are meet with company issued to add to the stresses. Will they be able to ride the waves and come out unharmed and together or will waves cause Jameson to choose business over love? Ms. Swan does a great job of mixing in some suspense throughout this book, that will keep you reading to the end to see what really happened. I wonder which Miles brother will get his story next? *** Advanced copy provided in exchange for an honest review. *** |
5⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ It’s been awhile since I’ve read a book that was so well executed. I loved it! It grabbed ahold of me and wouldn’t let go. The angst is some of the best I’ve read and the chemistry was perfect with lots of steamy scenes. And did I mention that I loved it? It put lots of smiles on my face and at other times I wanted to throw my kindle across the room. It had all the feels and was just the rollercoaster I was hoping for. I’m going to read every book I can get my hands on from this author. She’s my new favorite. ♥️ What I loved: • The Writing • Emily (my favorite female heroine yet) • Jameson (I actually love him and hate him) • The Angst • The Camping Trip • HEA This was a stand-alone but there will be other books about the brothers! Yay! This was a NETGALLEY book and all opinions are my mine. I loved it and want all my friends to read it! |
One of the best romances this year! What a terrific book! Strong, sexy characters, corporate intrigue, an amazing cast of friends and co-workers, loads of witty and intelligent humor, and a writing style that had me hooked from the very first line. Jameson's pursuit of Emily nearly borders on harassment, except that she can't say, even to herself, that it's unwanted. Still, she's no pushover, and has no trouble standing her ground and defending her priorities. I really enjoyed the complex story, and I appreciated the fact that their "one night stand, one year ago" didn't result in the far-too-common secret baby trope. This story doesn't take any of the predictable paths, instead taking the reader on a truly unique adventure, a romance that is everything a love story should be while still feeling fresh and original. The HEA perfectly ties up all the story threads and leaves us wishing for our own entry to the Miles High Club. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book. |
I had never read anything by bestselling author TL Swan but the book info at NetGalley for this advanced copy of The Stopover, the first in “Miles High Club” series—a meet cute on an airplane resulting in a steamy, earth shaking one night stand and later learn that the handsome stranger will be her boss’s boss—well, how could I resist? The story is a page turner from the beginning with likable characters—a snarky, smart heroine who IS NOT a pushover, a woman who professes her love of romance books— “I just love true stories, regardless of what they are.” “So do I,” I reply. “That’s why I love romance. It’s true.” —and a handsome, powerful man who ends up changing his ways for the love of a woman worthy. Jameson Miles, our Mr Darcy-like alpha male, has never really been in love with anyone or anything but his company, yet that is about to change when newly-arrived to NYC Emily Foster steps into her dream job as a reporter at Miles Media. But deception is afoot when corporate stock takes a tumble, and it is revealed company secrets, as well as millions of dollars, are stolen. Who is the culprit? When Jameson is set up and Emily looks to be the traitor, all seems lost for this couple. A few quibbles: 1) Jameson has “big blue eyes”, “big, bright eyes”, “beautiful deep-blue eyes”, “piercing blue eyes”, “blazing blue eyes”, “brilliant blue eyes”... the repetition of the same words to describe this feature seemed lazy and annoying; 2) his ex-fiancé is described to be with a London barrister now but then later, it seems like that detail is lost; and 3) there is this entire build up about someone stealing Miles Media news stories for another media source—and that seems to have been forgotten as well when the chaos of embezzlement hits. But as I loved the story and these characters so much—and can’t wait to read more about the Miles brothers—I did not let these points hinder my enjoyment. So much to recommend: suspense, intrigue, passion, and that push-and-pull we love in a romance novel. Perfect read to snuggle under the blankets with as the autumn chill arrives. Rated Mature for provocative sex and nudity. |
This is not the type of book I would normally read and on the first two chapters I was thinking what I have let myself in for but after that I felt I could not put the book down. I love that the book is big and beefy which I love as I know I can snuggle down for a long read. It is a typical Cinderella Rich man meets middle class lady and it blossoms from there but not smoothly. They are Jameson and Emily. They meet on a plane and have a wonderful night together when the plane is diverted because of bad weather. They do not meet again until 12 months later when Emily starts a new job in New York, and she was shocked and surprised when she finds out that Jameson is her new boss. I found I got totally engrossed in the story the chemistry between the two was electric the banter great. The story was well written and emotional I had a tear in my eye a few times. Well done to the author I have now put her name on my list of authors to read. |
There's a lot of fighting and sex. Like a LOT. Emma and Jameson's relationship would never work in real life, I mean they got into the biggest fights over literally nothing in one chapter and the next chapter would be completely in love and making babies. And that's pretty much the entire book actually. Don't get me wrong it was very hot and steamy but I also wanted to throw my shoe at them several times. It's a long book but was pretty quick and easy to read, however it was also a little predictable. The mystery part was interesting and made it unique but it wasn't given much importance. There was so many time I was more interested in Molly and Michael's story, so please make a spin off T L Swan. |
3 stars I had high hopes for this book. The premise of two characters meeting in an airplane and having an unforgettable night followed by meeting unexpectedly in the future had me all excited. However, that excitement didn't last. The push and pull between the characters drove me nuts. Jameson almost seemed bipolar at times. One moment he was all in and the next he was sabotaging his relationship. And Emily was often witchy for no reason or a complete pushover. She had the backbone of a wet noodle. This book also had a lot of extra stuff that didn't enhance the story in my opinion. I still cannot understand the whole Claudia thing. I get that some of it was needed for the story but not all of it. It just made a VERY long story feel even longer. That being said, I still appreciate this author and her hard work. I know that she is dedicated to writing a solid story and works hard at her craft. This is just an example of the power of books because even though this was not a book for me it seems from the reviews that it was for them. AND that is what is important. |

Unfortunately, this was not the book for me. I didn't like the constant back and forth between Jameson and Emily. Since they kept breaking up and getting back together, it made the book a lot longer than necessary. I also thought Jameson was a huge asshole and I'm tired of the asshole male love interest. I was actually more interested in the Miles Media mystery and the side characters, so I was a bit disappointed that everything was quickly resolved with little explanation. |
This book... it kinda gutted me. It’s a very, very intense and emotional read that hooked me from the beginning. The author’s writing makes it easy to get lost in the story, and I felt like I was running through all of the same emotions as our heroine. It is quite the journey, and I loved the ride. The story follows Emily, a young reporter who gets upgraded to first class on her plane ride and winds up flirting and bantering with her seatmate, Jim. They open up to each other in a way that they wouldn’t normally, knowing that they’ll never see each other again. When the plane gets detoured overnight, they wind up spending a sexy evening together, creating some unforgettable memories. Twelve months later, Emily still looks back on that night fondly - so when she discovers that the CEO of the company at her new job is none other than her one night stand, she’s not sure what to think. But Jameson in everyday life is not the same Jim that she met on the plane; he is powerful, demanding and used to being in control. He wants a repeat of their night together, but Emily isn’t so sure she likes the man she’s getting to know. It’s a total push/pull relationship that’s real, raw and a struggle because they fell for the people they are deep down, not the people they are on the surface. I loved this concept; it felt so fresh and unique, but 100% believable - Jameson can’t let his guard down like that with most people, and he never would’ve if he’d expected to see Emily again. It’s an incredibly sensual book with countless sex scenes, but each one is unique and so intimate that they really showcased where these two are in their relationship. There were times when I was completely turned off by Jameson (as was Emily), but I could never give up on him entirely. Glimpses of the man underneath the surface really made this book, and the pages flew by. This is a 500 page book and I read it in 24 hours - that tells you how much I enjoyed it. Thank you to NetGalley for providing me with an ARC. I am voluntarily leaving a review of this intense and sexy book, and am most definitely looking forward to the next one in the series. |
OMG!! It was steamy, sexy and freakin’ hot!!!! There’s something about a romance that takes place at the airport, on a flight or at a hotel. A certain sultriness found nowhere else. A chance meeting between Emily and Jim in the first-class cabin sends them on a sizzling and emotional collusion course. Swan starts with a bang, then dials up the heat to full throttle. To Emily, sexual satisfaction isn’t the same as love, and she’s been burned in the past by giving her heart too freely. Jim is handsome, smart and filthy rich. When they are together, their connection is electric. Even though she meets Jim on the flight, its Jameson, the billionaire CEO she needs to accept into her life. Despite how she fights it, she falls for him. Jameson is willing to risk it all to keep Emily from slipping through his fingers. But he’s not the kind of man who wants to stake a claim and make a relationship his top priority. His job comes first, and relationships must fit in. When he decides to go all in – he GOES ALL IN. You will find yourself rooting for Jameson and wanting to throw a book at Emily’s head. I know I was. I was like, get a grip woman – this man wants to be with you, and you are fighting him at every turn. LET JAMESON LOVE YOU!!!!! Now, Emily is torn between Jim she meets on the plane and Jameson, the CEO and she is unsure whom she can trust. She will have to surrender her heart if she wants a happy ever after with the man she fell in love with and the man who wants to love her. A one-night stand leads to romance filled with major turbulence. Make sure your seat belt is fastened and enjoy this flight. The perfect MILE HIGH KINK BOOK CLUB read with great characters and lots of hot, steamy, naughty sex. The Stop Over is sure to satisfy. Stay tuned for the next book in the series, The Takeover….. |
I am such a fan of TL Swan and love the way she pulls you in and makes the characters and story so exciting . I chance meeting in first class on a plane that leads to one night between Emily and Jameson. It is fun, flirty, exciting and when then end up on a stopover it is down right steamy. Although they go their separate ways and fate steps in !!! It is complicated, mysterious and a fight at every turn but the attraction may be too much for either of them. They can stay or walk away but friendship is not an option !!Loved it !! ~~Michele McMullen ~~ |
2.5 stars. I'm torn with how to review this because I won't lie: I read it straight through the night and suffered from lack of sleep at the office the next day because of it. It's a very quick and easy read, but there's also nothing here that I haven't read before. This was also one of the most toxic relationships I've ever read! I found myself laughing at how ridiculous the 'relationship' was, and then I was tearing my hair out and trying not to scream in complete frustration with what was happening. But then again, I couldn't seem to put the book down and found myself staying up until 5am to finish it... So, there's that? I'm warning you now, this is a fair bit of a rant (but I've tried to reign it in as much as possible)! My favorite part of the book had to be the friendship and banter between Emily, Aaron and Molly. I was so worried the latter would end up being bad people but I was glad to be proven wrong! Their friendship reminded me a lot of how I interact with my friends and it just felt completely natural. The interactions between these friends brought much needed comedy to the story to distract from all the silly drama between the two MCs. I initially also liked Emily's character, mostly for her drive to pursue her passion without letting anything deter her. She knew what she wanted and she went for it without letting anything hold her back. It's a pity that all but disappeared the minute Jameson came into her life. She mildly protested every now and again but it's like her backbone shriveled up whenever he came around. Like I mentioned, this was one of the most toxic relationships I've ever read. Emily and Jameson/Jim/Jay's relationship yo-yo'd from getting into ridiculously blown out of proportion fights over (literally) nothing, to jumping straight into bed for wild sex. It took a really long time for them to even get to the point where they would try being civil and having normal conversations without blowing up; and even then it didn't really last long most of the time. The basis of their relationship was physical and in my opinion, it never really progressed out of that phase by the end. I will say though that their physical chemistry was off-the-charts. If you don't like explicit sexual scenes in books, this will not be for you! If I had to rate the heat out of 5, it'd be a solid 5 though lol For someone who's meant to be an "older man", Jay was the most immature rich CEO character I've encountered. He was petulant, emotionally unavailable and often times acted like a really big man-child, and at his office no less. He would be cruel and cold one minute and in the next he'd be messaging Emily, demanding she go with him to dinner, as if he hadn't just treated her like trash not too long back? I wanted to slap him so hard. What gave me hope the first time was that she would say no and I'd be like HELL YEAH EMILY! And then in the next scene she'd cave and they'd end up screwing like rabbits before the night's out. GIRL, PLEASE! At the same time though, towards the end of the book, I found myself curled over with laughter over some of Jay's drama queen antics--especially during the camping scene. It was actually hilarious and 100% amusing? Unfortunately, it wasn't enough to redeem his character from start to finish. There were other inconsistencies with the events in the book that had me scratching my head for a while before shrugging and moving past it because I was more concerned with other issues in the book. All in all, I finished this book laughing in bewilderment (at myself mostly) and I was genuinely curious whether this is what people felt when they finished reading the After series. I'm referring to the people who acknowledge that the relationship in that series was toxic AF and yet they STILL couldn't put that book down. Is this how you felt?? Haha I'll still never read that series, but after reading this book, I do think I get what you mean with your comments 😂 |
I loved Jameson & Emily’s story beyond words! I couldn’t turn the pages fast enough! Jameson & Emily had amazing chemistry & great banter! I enjoyed the twists & turns! This is my first book that I have read by T L Swan & it definitely won’t be my last! I voluntarily reviewed this book. |
Somebody crank up the A/C, because The Stopover by TL Swan was HOT! Emily Foster found herself upgraded to a first class seat on a flight home from a crappy trip, seated next to a sexy stranger named Jim, and taking full advantage of an overnight weather induced layover with said sexy stranger. After a steamy night of the best sex of her life, of course she was bummed that Jim didn’t so much as ask for her number before he left the next morning without looking back. Fast forward to a year later as she’s touring the upper management floor of her new dream job, and who else does she see sitting before her in the CEO’s chair other than Jim…or Jameson Miles, CEO of Miles Media as he’s better known to his friends, family, and colleagues. There are so many things that I loved about this book. Let me count the ways… 1: As frustrating and as much of pains in the butts as they could both be, I loved everything about Jameson and Emily. Emily is a “take no $@*#” kind of gal. She doesn’t let anyone push her around. She stands up for what she believes. And, she’s not afraid to ask for what she wants. She’s also got a quick wit and a dirty mouth which makes her a character you can’t help but love, even when she’s being impossibly stubborn. On the other hand, we’ve got Jameson…a stressed out CEO with the weight of the world on his shoulders that’s not used to hearing the word “no”. He’s bossy. He’s domineering. He commands attention and respect. And sometimes, he’s unlikeably cold. But, he’s got a soft spot for Emily which lets us see his sweeter side. And, hot dang is this man sexy as all get out! The dynamic between these two is so fun to watch. They fight. They make up. Repeat. At the end of the day, their pull to each other is magnetic and so much more than hot sex. 2. The supporting cast in this book is amazing! They balance out our hero and heroine in all of the best ways while being completely hilarious at the same time. They add a fun break to the roller coaster that Emily and Jameson have us riding on with them. 3. This book is over 500 pages. I was a little overwhelmed at the thought of the length going in to this book. But as I got into it, it seemed like the book flew by. I found myself saying “ok, just one more chapter” for 3 hours straight. I couldn’t put it down, and I finished it in a day and a half! 4. Did I mention this book is STEAMY?!? The sexual pull is the foundation of their relationship at the start of it, and we went along on that ride with them from chapter two on! *fans self* 5. The ending was EXACTLY what I needed it to be in every single way. EXACTLY… The Stopover is the first book in the Miles High Club series, but it reads as a standalone. I’m already hooked on this band of brothers, so I can’t wait to see what happens in the next book! Great book. Great characters. Great story (with a tiny hint of mystery). Great romance. Great everything. I’ll be swooning over this one for a hot minute. |
4 stars Loved the push/pull of this romance. Jameson is hot and yet aloof and Emily is like a new butterfly, dying to try her wings out. Sometimes they frustrated me with their hot and cold dialogue but they held my interest. This author is a favorite of mine and with good reason. She pays attention to small details, presents a well thought out plot line and writes the most intriguing conversations! |
Quite frankly this is one of the best books I have read in a long time. After a while of reading the same genre, a lot of books start becoming predictable and similar, however, this one pleasantly surprised me in many ways! The blossoming romance between emily and Jameson was great to follow along with - even during the times that i was sat wanting to shout at one of them for their reactions to some of the situations!! Whats great about this book is that it isn't just one theme about romance, there are different aspects to the story in which keeps it entertaining and original. The book is longer than most i have read in a while which i though was refreshing as I usually find that ones of longer length become boring or repetitive - this one was neither of these. I was genuinely really impressed by this book and would certainly read other works by this author (and definitely more books in the series whenever that shall be)! Would DEFINITELY recommend!! I was kindly given a with free copy of this book through NetGalley in exchange for an honest review! |
