This is a voluntary review of an advanced copy.

This is such a great series and I am still working my way through it. In this book, we see Keelin, a dragon shifter, and Bran at odds about how to handle their feelings and possible mating.

You can understand Keelin needs some time as she has been terribly sheltered by her family and needs a bit of independence and freedom but you can also see that she and Bran are meant for each other.

It will just take some time for her to realize that Bran is not like her parents and even if they are mated, she will stil l have freedom and he is not there to take away her independence.

Along the way, they must figure out who is trying to kill her and has abducted the Moana dragons. You will also see many of the previous characters in this book so I enjoy when they are included! I can't wait to start on Nyx and Bo's story as they are such opposites and that may be a challenge for their happiness.

Three and a half stars.

So, I jumped right into this series at book 3. I don't feel that I missed anything but not reading the books in order.

Keelin is the only daughter of the Petronilla Dragon clan's Alphas. When they went into hibernation she joined them because they felt she wouldn't be safe on her own. But then she woke and joined the modern world. She is tiny for a dragon shifter and she was almost killed a year ago by a deranged cousin. She works as a waitress in Bo's (a half-demon) supernatural club in Biloxi.

When she feels her parents come out of hibernation she is worried. They have always treated her as fragile and unable to look after herself and she is afraid they will try to force her back home. Added to that, Bran Devlin, the Alpha of the Devlin Dragon clan is being all possessive and her dragon likes it but Keelin is fighting the attraction because she feels she would be overridden by such a large powerful Alpha.

After Bran tries to speak to Keelin in the club she rushes out to her car where she is attacked by three strange guys, only Bran's quick responses managed to save her. More worrying it seems that the guys weren't really guys at all but some kind of demons and they were specifically looking for Keelin.

Now some of the lead up to this story may have been in the previous books, there was certainly enough lead in for Nyx and Bo's future story and for one or two other couples, but it wasn't entirely clear how the demon escaped his imprisonment or why Keelin has suddenly started wearing her grandmother's bracelet. Anyway, the demon has vowed to kill all females of the Petronilla line after Keelin's grandmother imprisoned him and stole his bracelet. Now that Keelin is wearing the bracelet he can track her movements, unless she shifts into a dragon.

Soon Bran and Keelin, along with Keelin's brothers, sister in law and friends, trying to find out who is trying to kill Keelin whilst Keelin and Bran try not to mate each other.

I haven't read a paranormal romance in a while and this ticked all the boxes with special powers, mating frenzies, almost virginal women etc. I would have liked a bit more story and a little less tab A in slot B, stroke C rinse and repeat but I know that is par for the course. The actual showdown with the demon (yeah, I know but it is a secret) is over VERY quickly which was a disappointment.

Overall, it wasn't Thea Harrison but it was a fun read and I will definitely be reading others in the series.

I received a free copy of this book from the publisher via NetGalley in return for an honest review.

Keelin has slowly been acclimating to the big bad world, away from the sheltered mollycoddling of her parents and clan. Sure she might get a tad lonely now and then but her independence is worth it. But the unsettling feelings around Bran...she's just not ready to admit what they mean. Now her parents have also woken from their hibernation and Keelin fears being swept back behind the iron curtain they think she needs to protect her from the world!

Bran is a bad%%% former covert ops soldier. He is also a powerful alpha trying to foster alliances with other clans. Whilst the Petronilla clan would be great allies, he doesn't want a political alliance, he just wants Keelin. But she is timid and insecure in her feelings for him, so he is willing to go slow to ensure he wins her!

Loving this series. Great mix of dragons, wolves, demons, hybrids and even a few Gods and demi-Gods thrown in. Passion and romance go hand in hand with the suspense and neither storyline takes precedence at the detriment of the other.

This is Keelins story. Hers and Bran’s. This author is such a great story teller! Keelin is the little sister, she’s not a warrior dragon like the rest of her family. Any day she is expecting her mother in father to come out of hibernation. Bran wants Keelin! Can he convince her that he’s the dragon for her? We will see!

I read this book as an arc from NetGalley

Keelin, a Dragon shifter, suffered injuries and felt the need to be on her own afterward. She moved to Biloxi to stay with a wolf pack. Bran was a part of the rescue mission and is drawn to Keelin. When his work sends him to Biloxi, Bran is determined to make Keelin his own. Like the previous book in this series, family and friends create a strong support system and add humor to the storyline. I enjoyed this book as much as the first one! I’m intrigued by Nyx and Bo and can’t wait for them to get their story. I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Another fantastic PNR Dragon shifter romance with tons of page turning, action packed, mysterious attacks, along with tons of chemistry between Keelin and Bran trying to fight the Mating call. Can they work thru all of this and come out on top...Loved it. 😍😍

4.5 stars

Keelin’s a dragon-shifter who went into a long-time hibernation so she could keep her over-protective parents happy. Now that she’s out, she’s determined to live her best life, and that goal includes—demands, to her way of thinking—that she not follow the dictates of anyone but herself, alpha males definitely included.

Bran’s an Alpha dragon-shifter whose dragon has wanted Keelin from the moment he met her. He still wants her, despite her resistance. When she’s repeatedly attacked by demons, Bran starts to feel something more, and he’ll do everything, wants to “know everything in order to keep her safe.” Who’s attacking her, why, and how can he start getting closer to her in the meantime?

Reus builds the sexual tension between Keelin and Bran beautifully. Like all of her other books I’ve read, this book is hot, hot, hot. But the relationship between Keelin & Bran is compelling, too, and Reus does a great job of laying out their initial attraction to each other via flashbacks, etc. and also developing Keelin’s believable internal conflicts about committing to an Alpha male. Keelin’s different from other dragon-shifters—she’s not a warrior—but Bran appreciates her for what she is and she refuses to settle for anything less than what she knows she deserves. That’s a sexy kind of love and acceptance (for another person and for oneself).

In Beyond the Darkness, Reus also deploys solid world-building, and I loved stepping inside it. Her next book is intriguingly set up at the end of this one, and I’m already wondering how/when I can read more.

Beyond the Darkness is one of my favorite of Reus’s suspense reads: a passionate paranormal romance that feels distinctive and fresh and that’s not lacking in sensuality. So good!

It just doesn’t get any better than this! I adore an alpha hero, especially a dragon, who chases the heroine and man, Bran gave Keelin a freaking wonderful chase.

After thousands of years in hibernation, Keelin is ready to live life. Even her time before hibernation was sheltered and she’s never had real freedom to do as she pleases. But just as she sets about to do that, trouble comes knocking, along with the Alpha dragon who has intrigued her since she met him a month ago.

Keelin was an awesome heroine. She was smart and fiesty and while she might not have had physical strength to combat the enemy, she had a heart full of determination when Bran was in danger. Due to her upbringing, she has an air of innocence about her, but nothing over the top. I loved that she led Bran on one heck of a chase, and she didn’t even realize she was doing it.

Holy heck! What else can I say about Bran other than: freaking perfect hero! Every single one of my boxes was checked and then double checked with him. I don’t know why I’m always so delighted to find this autor’s heroes to be so perfect, because they are…every single time. And more so the ones in this series.

Together this couple are trying to solve a bit of a mystery that ties in with someone who is out to get Keelin. Where this leads will have you in a bit of shock and awe. I loved watching Keeling and Bran fall in love as this story is spread out before us. There is a lot of action and adventure, as well as the perfect amount of humor. And of course, there is plenty of fire breathing steam between this couple. They literally set the pages on fire each time they come together with a steady stream of sizzling goodness in between.

Fast paced, always well written, with a lead in for Bo and Nyx’s story as well as a great epilogue! As I said, it just doesn’t get any better than this!
