I received an advanced reading copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. Thank you to NetGalley, Amazon Publishing UK, and the author Caroline Mitchell.
A very interesting and gripping premise, with echoes of 'The Farm'. An easy read and entertaining, but overly dramatised.
My only criticism is that the writing was incredibly trite at times, almost cringeworthy. Summed up perfectly by the closing line, "I had found the perfect Mother for my child". Yeesh.
Would be a perfect easy holiday read, if you can suspend belief enough! 3 stars.

Roz is a 24-year-old girl who's down on her luck - broke and pregnant. She wants to do right by her unborn baby and decides it's to look into adoption to provide the baby with the life that she never had. She finds an elite adoption agency and feels like she's hit the jackpot when she is matched with Sheridan and Daniel, a NY celebrity power couple. Whisked to New York from her home in Dublin, Roz can’t believe her luck! Caught up in the excitement of it all, it isn’t long before cracks start to appear and Roz soon realizes that she may have just put herself and her baby’s life in danger.
This was a fast paced read that was very good! The only downside was that I wished Roz was a little stronger, had more of that "mama bear" instinct when faced with adversity. But those who want a quick, engaging psychological thriller - this is your book!
Thanks to Caroline Mitchell, Amazon Publishing and NetGalley for the ARC.

What a nice little family thriller! I thought the premise was very unique and the book was well written. The end wraps up nicely too. I would recommend this book to anyone who likes a suspenseful mystery. I will definitely look for more books by this author.

I really enjoyed this dark, gripping psychological thriller. Well written characters - some who are extremely unlikeable - and a very unusual twisty turny plot which kept me guessing. I saw some of the twists coming but was completely surprised by some - particularly the one at the end.

I highly recommend this book - I couldn't put it down and had to keep reading until I knew what was going to happen.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the opportunity to read this book in exchange for an honest review

I received this book complimentary from NetGalley but all opinions are my own.

This was so well done. Twisty, turny, freak me all the fuck out. Ugh. This was so good. I predicted some (which is a joy for me as I rarely predict) and got completed splattered by others. This was just a great book. The characters were excellent and well-rounded. The setting was creepy and in Ireland, delightful. The plot was well-developed and terrifying. So so so good. I will definitely be reading more Caroline Mitchell.

I throughly enjoyed reading this book. The plot was excellent itself and characters were interesting. It’s a proper page turner and keeps you on the edge of your seat throughout. The twists and turns throughout were unexpected and keeps you guessing. It’s an easy read and the style of writing was just perfect. I have read a few books by this author and I’ll certainly be keeping my eye out for more in the future. I would recommend this to anyone who enjoys reading this genre.
Thank you netgalley and the publisher for the opportunity to read this book in exchange for a honest review.

# The Perfect Mother # Netgalley

I realised after I started to read this book on Netgalley that I had already read the book. Probably on here and forgot to send a review. OMG Caroline Michelle is well becoming one of the best crime and mystery writer. She’s just awesome poor Roz doesn’t really want to give up her baby. However she sees the sense in it because she can not really provide for her child. She wanted her child to have the opportunity of a better life than she had and those around her. When she thought she had found the perfect couple she started to find things out about them that alpl Roz wanted to was to get herself and her unborn baby out of there as fast as possible. They were not as perfect as first thought. However it’s not that Simple for Roz to just up and leave. For a start she as no money as of yet and she’s in a foreign country with no way to get back to England. She’s already sussed out if she went to the local police she would not be going anywhere as they wouldn’t believe her the couple have friends I. High places they are also well known by the mayor and police that they are the pillow of the community. I am not going to say much more otherwise I would be giving spoilers that’s the last thing I want to do. I do not appreciate reading spoilers it can make the difference to wether I would read the book once I read a few spoilers. Many years ago I was reading a series of books based around the French Revolution there were 12 books in the series. I had just started the last book and I really wanted to know with Angelique was one one ship her husband on another thru were parted when the ship they both were on was hit with cannons it sank for about 4::/5 books neither one knew if the other was alive. I literally had only read chapter one I had to put it down because my mother in law and father I law came to visit there first grandchild. My mother in law saw the book she went ohh I have read that series she finds her husband in that one. I never did read it because of her spoiling it. I just would not do that to anyone so if you want to find out if Roz mangers to get away you will just have to read the book. Please do not make the mistake of thinking you know the outcome of this book. One thing I have learned reading Caroline Michelle books. Is we do not always get the happy ending. There are enough twists and turns in this book if you had straight hair when you started it will become curly by the time you have finished with all the twists, it’s one hell of a ride you must read because I said you do not always get the happy ending doesn’t mean we get a bad ending either. If anyone as read the blossom twins you will understand that not all ends well. Caroline Michelle is becoming one of the best in her mystery thriller genre and the psychological thrillers. She as now become the third author that I will automatically preorder books from without even bothering with the synopsis. She definitely up there ready yo take the title of the thriller queen and getting extremely close. This definitely is a must must read. If you have not read any of her books yet you are genuinely missing out . .....

Roz finds her self pregnant, and can't decide what to do with the baby. She then discovers a website where babies are put up for sale. Everything seems to be good to be true, and soon she finds out why... This book was a stunning read, and I enjoyed every minute until the very very last page. Highly recommended.

I’m not sure how I feel about this book. On one hand, it has an intriguing, original premise and is a crazy wild ride from start to finish. On the other hand, it is extremely unbelievable and none of the characters quite rang true for me. Sometimes a crazy wild ride works for me, and sometimes it doesn’t, and sadly this one falls into the second category for me (which is why it has taken me so long to get it off my TBR pile).

In a nutshell, a young, unwed Irish girl decides to give up her baby for adoption through an elite adoption service and is linked up with a famous celebrity couple. But once she travels to America to meet the prospective adoptive parents, she gets a bit more than she has bargained for.

Besides lacking credibility, the story was further hampered by a bunch of unlikeable characters that seemed so crazy that they almost read like cartoon badies, right down to the basement where they imprison their pregnant captive. The story otherwise held little suspense or mystery, other than wondering how Roz will get out of her predicament. Seeing that Mitchell was a police officer, perhaps things like this do happen in real life, but the story didn’t manage to sell it to me, right down to the final twist, which made it even more absurd. On the upside, it was all so crazy that it made for a perfect escape from all that 2020 has thrown at us so far, so if you like your psychopath characters served up with a good seasoning of insanity and a side dish of suspension of disbelief, then you may enjoy it!

Thank you to the author, Caroline Mitchell, the publishing company, Thomas and Mercer and NetGalley for an electronic copy of the book for an honest review.

Not your average kidnapping type of story, and honestly what I thought was happening, didn't, and who I thought was good, wasn't. This book grabbed me and didn't let me go, and I will be looking for more books by this author.

She knows how to keep you on your toes, and writes to keep you interested in the storyline.

The Perfect Mother was a good read by Caroline Mitchell. Roz wants to be the perfect mother to her unborn baby but fears that she wont be able to. Due to her chaotic upbringing and the fact that she's young and penniless. Roz joined an elite adoption agency and was in New York within days to meet a celebrity couple, Sheridan and Daniel, who wanted a child of their own. Roz moved into their basement suite and starts to suspect that everything isn't as perfect as it seems with the wealthy couple. She finds out that there were other women who moved into this basement, and that the last one hasn't been seen since. Roz will do whatever she can to save this baby and her life. I really enjoyed reading this book.

Promising thriller. I actually enjoyed the premise and setting. I had problems with my e-reader from March onwards so unfortunately, I didn't manage to finish reading it before the archive date.
Thank you Netgalley for the free eArc in exchange for an honest review, nonetheless.
