When Roz Foley becomes pregnant, she is overwhelmed at the idea of raising a baby on her own. Confiding only in her best friend, Dympna, Roz signs up with an adoption agency and believes she has, in fact, found the perfect mother for her baby. A powerful celebrity couple has shown interest, and soon Roz is flying to New York to meet with the couple, leaving Ireland behind indefinitely.

Sheridan and Daniel have shining careers and one young son, and Roz is given their basement apartment to stay in during her pregnancy. At first, Roz is well cared for, but things quickly turn dark, and she becomes convinced Sheridan has no intention of letting her return to Ireland…or even to leave the basement alive.

This was a compelling story, full of twists and drama, and I enjoyed every word. Roz’s ordeal is almost unbelievable, and I was equally fascinated and horrified as the story unfolded. The Perfect Mother is fast paced, dark, and a bit dangerous, just the way I like my thrillers.

A complex, suspenseful plot with tension so thick that it felt palpable. Wonderfully-developed characters with depth and substance. I was immediately drawn in and held captive from beginning to end.

This was a great police procedural read! I found myself needing to know what happens in the story and the characters, so I couldn't put this one down!

Roz is pregnant after a surprising one night stand. She does not know what to do but is sure she does not want to keep the baby. Roz signs up for Miracle Moms, an adoption website, and is surprised when a diamond couple from America is interested in her. She cannot believe it. She responds back to them and soon agrees to travel from the United Kingdom to New York to meet them, all expenses paid. Roz doesn't know who the couple is yet and has to sign a non-disclosure agreement before their real identifies will be revealed once she lands in New York. Roz feels that the celebrity couple is interest in her because she wrote on her Miracle Moms profile that she has no family or friends, which is not true. The couple wants to pass the child off as if it was their own, which is why Roz is perfect. Roz is estranged from her mother and she lives with her best friend Dympna. Once in New York, Roz starts to wonder if she is making the wrong decision by giving up the baby. She is wondering if she should keep the baby even though she does not have much to offer it and the diamond couple can offer the baby a lifestyle that she could only dream of. Can this couple and the arrangement with them be too good to be true? Roz soon finds out that her quest for the perfect mother may not be what she originally thought it was.

I found that I really connected with this book, especially with Roz for a couple of different reasons. First off, my sister and I were adopted so I can understand a parent wanting to have the best for their child. Secondly, I am a new mom (my son is now 9 months old) and all I want is the best for my son and to be the "perfect mother" to him. I found that Roz was very relatable for these two reasons.

The story is written from multiple points of views: Roz, Dympna, and Sheridan (power couple). I am often times not a fan of a book that uses multiple points of views by alternating the view chapter by chapter, however, this was so well written that it didn't both me. The transition from one point of view to the other was done seamlessly and flowed very well.

Rating: 5 out of 5 because the main character Roz was very relatable and it was well written. The story itself does become a little unbelievable when you discover the extremes that the power couple are willing to go for a baby, and the surprising twist which I don't want to give away.

Absolutely brilliant. I love it when I find a new author and they have a lot of other books. Really look forward to reading them all.
This is a stand alone psychological thriller about a girl who is pregnant and her labs to sell/give The baby away. Of course it all seems so simple. And obviously it’s not!
Strong 5/5.

There is a saying that goes if something is too good to be true, it probably is. So when 24 year old, Roz, who is pregnant and broke, finds out that a famous and wealthy couple want to adopt her child, she thinks this is the perfect solution. The chance to give her baby the life she can't and the opportunity to leave her hometown in Ireland and jettison to the bright lights of New York.
She meets Sheridan and Daniel, the glamorous and famous couple, who are eager for another addition to their family. Roz's baby will make their life complete and perfect. Perfect ending to an unwanted situation, But as soon as Roz moves into the couples home, what seemed like a Hallmark movie with a storybook ending turns into Nightmare on Elm Street.
Alarm bells start ringing and Roz quickly realizes that they want her baby but there is more and they won't stop until Roz's baby becomes theirs. The perfect situation turns into the ultimate nightmare. Roz soon realizes that her unborn baby is the only thing keeping her safe and alive. With the clock ticking, can Roz escape in time or succumb to Sheridan and Daniels plan to eliminate the problem of too many mothers.
Caroline Mitchell delivers a fast-paced tense thriller that is full of twist and surprises throughout the book. Perfect Mother is the perfect summer read.

Thanks to Netgalley for the free ebook in exchange for an honest review!

What a wild ride! At first it seemed innocent-ish enough with with someone looking to put her baby up for adoption in a not so traditional way. And then it started to get kind of weird and I thought I knew where it was going. I was kind of right but then there were a couple of other twists that I’ve sent expecting.

This book was so fun and easy to read. I ended up putting it down for a while and forgetting about it, but when I picked it back up it was easy to remember everything that had happened and jump right back into the story

Just finished this well written very disturbing book. How easy it is to draw desperate people in with the promise of money. Beware if it looks to good to be true then it is. Thank you for the opportunity to read this book.

Wow... wow... wowser!

I've been a fan of Caroline's books for a few years now and have loved everything I've read. This one, though, takes it to another level!

As the blurb tells us, Roz finds herself hitting the streets of New York with a high-powered celebrity couple so they can adopt her baby. We know from the start that things aren't going to be plain sailing... I mean, have you read that blurb?!

So, as much as I was expecting there to be issues, my god I was NOT expecting what I got.

I think my alarm bells started ringing before Roz's did and to be honest, they didn't stop until the last page!

Mitchell manages to create an atmosphere so filled with tension and trepidation, fear and unease is abound in this one. My hubby was loving it as I was having to snuggle up to him when reading! One night I even had to watch a Disney film after reading only a few chapters because I was that freaked out and on edge! It really is a testament to the author that she has created a world so scary and so intriguing all at once. As scared as I was, I couldn't stop reading. I needed to know what happened. I had no choice but to feel everything the characters were as the writing is just that bloody brilliant!

I was in the room with Roz, I felt every single emotion she did. I felt it all. And when an author makes you feel... well... there's nothing better for a bookworm!

I absolutely recommend this book to anyone and every one! It is beyond brilliant and one you should go and buy right now!

Roz had a chaotic childhood. Now she’s pregnant and certain that the best thing she could do is put the baby up for adoption. After joining an adoption agency, Roz finds herself leaving her home in Ireland in order to meet a New York couple who are desperate to have a child of their own. This couple is wealthy and seemingly perfect for Roz’s baby. After moving in with them to wait for the birth, Roz begins to suspect that all is not perfect and she and her baby may be in grave danger.

Talk about a domestic thriller at its finest! The Perfect Mother is just that. As the story is told from several perspectives, the reader is taken on a disturbing, twisty ride. There is suspense, drama, and unpredictability at every turn of the page.

Many thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for providing a copy of this book for review.

Not a fun read for me, really had to struggle through this one. Just couldn't seem to get involved in the story and couldn't get invested with the characters.
2 stars

Simple and predictable enough premise that turned out to be a very well written gripping story that will have readers lost in its pages for hours.

Wow- this was an amazing and gripping story that had me enthralled from the first page. I loved the suspense factor in the book and the character development. This is definitely a book that is right up my alley and one that was fun to read.

In brief summary this is about a young girl, Roz living in Ireland who falls pregnant and decides to "sell" her baby to a couple in America...but oh there is so much more to this book.

In parts it reminded me of The Handmaid's Tale with its uncomfortable scenes involving Roz and her unborn baby.

This is certainly a page turner of a book with plenty of twists and turns. I did guess the twist quite a bit before the end but that didn't bother me. In fact I was excited for everything to be revealed!

A really great thriller that makes you cry, cringe and feel slightly comfortable (in a good way!)

I will certainly be looking at reading more books by Caroline.

I don’t often give five stars but this totally deserves it. I was hooked from the very beginning and was on the edge of my seat for much of the ride.
The storyline was fantastic. Roz was a single Irish girl who finds out she is pregnant, she doesn’t feel that she is the right person to bring up her baby, she is struggling and she wants the best for it. She joins a website to find suitable parents for the baby, not thinking she will actually find anyone, but when a diamond member from America shows interest, meaning they are wealthy and trusted members, she decides to see what they are like.
Whisked away to America Roz is railroaded into giving her baby to this couple but while Roz is pregnant she has to stay in a locked basement apartment and things take a sinister turn.
Well written and absolutely brilliant from start to finish. I felt like I was living in Roz’s shoes.
Caroline Mitchell penned something quite remarkable, terrifying and amazing.

I received an ARC of The Perfect Mother by Caroline Mitchell thru Netgalley for an honest review. Oh my goodness, what a page turner of a book. The Perfect Mother weaves a tale of a young woman who finds out that she is pregnant, and seeks to find the perfect family for her baby. Raz may be 24, but her life is not all together, and has a strong sense of responsibilities. Knowing fully well that she will not be able to take care if her baby, she goes on-line looking for the perfect parents to-be. Thru the website Magic Mommies, she meets Sheridan and Daniel Watson.Like the old saying goes,if seems to good to be true, then it usually is.
Sheridan used to thrive in the spotlight when she was a young girl growing up. Her mother, from Sheridan's point of view, reminded me of Mommy Dearest. When the mom cares more about how to make her daughter a super-star at any cost, how does it affect the child? Granted, I am not giving Sheridan any slack for how she treated Raz and misleading so many people around her, but you as a reader have to remember the things that happened to her.
To Roz, a young woman whose own childhood has not been an easy one, but proved to be a much better person than Sheridan. Just because you have all the money in the world does not make a great, caring, or even a great person. How you act, how you treat those around you, is what makes you, you.
Thru Roz's friends and"family" some things come to light, and very promising for the young mom. Truly a trilling, great read. Thank you Caroline Mitchell for writing this unique novel that had me gripped from the prologue.

What a deliciously twisted story written by Caroline Mitchell. What seems like something so outright plain and simple hardly turns out to be that way. There are more twists and turns than a drive on a mountain road. What a great read, a page turner for sure! Thanks so much!
