Great story and characters, I read it in one sitting because the story kept me hooked and entertained, all the way through the end.
Anyone but Cade is full of great characters and the sweetest little kid that you can't help but fall in love with. Iris and Cade had me hooked from the start of this story. Their relationship as young adults left a very sour feeling for Iris and it isn't an easy road, but when Cade needs help raising his child he looks to Iris and things go from there.
I loved getting lost in Penelope Blooms story, what a great feel good book.
This is Book two in the King Brothers series.
Cade and Iris dated seven years ago, but then he put some pot brownies into her locker at school and she got kicked off the soccer team after a failed drug test. Together with Kira and Miranda she makes a pact of never dating a King brother.
Book one is Rich and Kiras story.
7 years later Iris is a small town cop and the King brothers just built their big offices in this east coast town they grew up in.
Cade is more of a goofball and seems a bit too immature, in my opinion and doubt Iris would fall for that, considering that her ruined her scholarship chances. I did like Bear and the others all have cameos.
Will read book three when available.
I received this ebook copy in exchange for an honest review from NetGalley and the publisher.
I can't imagine how this author comes up with such great characters time after time. This book has it all - humor, steam, love, etc. I loved this book, the second in the series. I thought the story was well written. The characters felt real and I loved that the author incorporated some of the characters from the previous book into the story which gave this story depth. Another great read from this author. Recommend.
I was a little leery to read this book after the first one but this one I really enjoyed. Cade and Iris are hilarious. After dating briefly in high school, things didn't end well and Iris wanted nothing to do with Cade however now that he is back in town and has a son to care for how can she ignore him and the help he is asking for. I liked watching both characters grow. No they didn't lose their weird sense of humor and childishness but they did learn to put others first and to trust in each other. This was a quick good read.

This is the second book in the series, and I would recommend that you read Rich's story first, as it sets the scene and gives you some background and insight into the men's childhood and meteoric rise. Oh my, their parents were and are just horrible!
Cade is Rich's twin, he has always been the joker and the one who avoids any seriousness he can. Even though Rich has fallen in love again with his childhood sweetheart, Kira, and moved their business HQ back to their hometown, Cade continues to play the field. He is, of course, confronted by Iris, his own high school love. She is not just the one who got away, she is the one who had their chance at a soccer career spoiled by a drugs test failure, thanks to his pot brownies.
Iris, Kira, and Miranda swore to never date one of the King brothers... Kira has failed, and Iris has to admit that Cade remains easy on the eye. However, he is still the joker he was at school – until fate provides him with a son who makes him grow up fast. As Iris appreciates his efforts, and falls for Bear nearly as much as she still cares for Cade, that promise is starting to seem to her like it needs breaking too.
I really enjoyed the banter in this book. Cade really cannot say anything serious without adding a silly remark at the end to lighten the moment. I had a bad habit of doing this myself, so it was reassuring to see it was not only me! Luckily, he learns when it is a good plan, and when it really isn't. That is not to say that only Cade grows up, Iris too gets to understand that maybe her priorities were not exactly directed correctly.
A really good addition to the series, and now we need to see how the last brother, Nick, and Miranda are going to resolve their issues, so I am looking forward to the next installment already.
I loved the first book in Penelope Bloom's Anyone But... series and this one is no different! I absolutely adored this book. Cade and Iris couldn't be more different on the surface but made the perfect pair. We met both Cade and Iris in the first book so I definitely recommend reading the series in order. If you are looking for a fun second-chance romance pick this one up ASAP!
This story was absolutely hilarious. I laughed out loud so much. I loved these characters. Their banter and antics were so much fun. I also love second chance romances and this is definitely one that will stick with me. I can't wait to read more from this author.
This is the 2nd book in this amazing series, and is Cade and Iris’s story. This is a beautifully written story which is hilarious from the very beginning, with crazy shenanigans, witty banter, and is a steamy 2nd chance romance. This gifted author has done an awesome job in penning this tale, and I highly recommend for all readers.
I always enjoy a really good book by Penelope and this one was it. As much as I liked the first book, Cade is definitely better. I really liked this story and it's characters.
Thank you Netgalley, the author and publisher for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.
I had a bit of mixed feelings with Anything But Cade, but I still enjoyed this quite a bit! Cade is such a jokester it was tough to take him seriously at times. But I loved how endearing he was when his son, Bear, came into his life. I’d say it was probably one of the best things that happened to him.
The one thing the drew me to this series is the second chance romance stories! With this one, add on the single parent and you’re set for a pretty decent read.
Ever since I read Anyone But Rich, I’ve been so curious what happened between the King brothers and essentially the heroines of each of their books.
I loved seeing the internal struggle that Iris had about being around Cade, again. They definitely have some history that altered her life plan, but I’d say she made the best of it. I will say that the pact she made with her best friends about never dating a King is becoming a bit too much.
However, I love seeing how these King brothers are getting past all their barriers. I truly enjoyed this funny read and am soooo ready to see how Miranda will be won over!
This author's style is hit or miss for me. The writing is good, but the humor can be a bit over the top. Even though I think the premise of grown women hanging on to an adolescent pact seems far-fetched, I liked Iris and her interactions with Cade. I found her mostly easy to relate to even though In her interactions with Cade's newfound kid I found her to be a bit clueless. Altogether, an entertaining read.
Anyone But Cade by Penelope Bloom is book Two in the Anyone But...Series. This is the story of Cade and Iris. I have read the previous books which did add to my enjoyment of this one but I do feel you could make this a standalone book if you wish to do so.
Cade left his home town along with his brothers but now he is back and learns of a child he didn't now existed. Iris and Cade were young together and of course had feeling for one another but then Cade up and left town. Now Iris and her friends have all sworn off the King brothers. So when Iris arrest him for disorderly conduct it brings them to meet again which opens the door for him to ask for her help.
Enjoyed this second chance at love story.
A brilliant read in this series of books about three brothers and the girls that captured their hearts.
Cade ruined Iris's life 7 years ago but neither has got over their feelings for each other. When Cade needs help Iris is the first person he can think of and she is more than willing.
Can they work through their disagreements or is it too late for them.
More than a few one liners from Cade and not all make sense but you still love him.
Bear steals the show though in this book.
Looking forward to reading Nick's book.
I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book.
I absolutely loved this book. The story was so well developed that even if you hadn't read any books prior to this one, you would be able to follow this story as it contains enough history that all the characters are well defined in this story. I loved the ending most. Penelope Bloom is a favorite author and if you like a good story, this is a must read.
I laughed out loud throughout this book! It is funny and full of flirting and love!
Iris is a local police officer, she loves her job, and her cat! But something is missing from her life, a man to love.
Cade is one of the infamous King Brothers, who made their fortune then came back to the town they left seven years earlier. He could have his pick of women but he wants the one he let slip away. By doing something stupid in high school Cade made Iris lose something that meant the world to her, so she made a vow with her two best friends to have nothing to do with the King Brothers again.
It all starts when Cade gets a phone call that causes him to get drunk and get arrested, what follows changes his life forever, but also gives him an opportunity to show Iris that he has changed - or has he?
This is a great book, I loved everything about it, especially the appearance of someone special at the end of the book!!!!
Oh my God, I had so much fun reading this book! Cade is so amazing and so crazy, in a funny way. “Anyone But Cade” is a fantastic book and believe me when I say it: you will savor every page!
Iris’ relationship with Cade cost her her future. They were good together, until he did the most stupid thing and put an end to her chances at a sports scholarship. Years later, they stand face to face, she as a police officer, and Cade as a very successful businessman. However, the most unbelievable event brings them together, with Iris trying to keep Cade out of trouble and lose … the most important person in his life.
They are great together! The banter, the contradictions and Cade’s flirtatious personality are the delight of this book. I took my time enjoying every moment and every word and now I am so sorry I missed reading book 1 (something that will be rectified in the following days!). Cade’s brothers are as well interesting characters and the same can be said about Iris’ friends. I must admit I am a little scared when it comes to the next book in the series, as I am not such a big fan of Miranda’s. But I am curious to see why she is so adamant to avoid the King brothers.
I am decreasing one start mainly because some aspects of the story felt a bit rushed and other could have been better explained, though I associate this last item to the fact that I have not read part 1 (Rich and Kira’s story).
So 4 stars for Penelope Bloom’s book and I cannot wait to discover this series and her others. She is an amazing writer! I do advise you give this book a chance and come back with your thoughts J Happy Reading!
A feel good second chance romance with heart, laughs and plenty of steam.
I loved Cade and Iris. They dated seven years ago in high school until Cade did something dumb and then Iris vowed to never date a King brother again. Now, Cade is rich and famous and ready for his second chance with the only woman he ever had feelings for. Iris is a cop and does everything she can to avoid Cade until a little surprise shows up. He's still the goofy guy who hides behind jokes, but he's also so much more. Iris can't resist.
Literally LOL funny, steamy with irritating and wonderful moments
Having read ANYONE BUT RICH about Rich, twin brother to Cade, I already knew that Cade and Iris would be a formidable couple, both witty, outrageous and caring. And again, Ms. Bloom has pulled out all the stops. This book was HILARIOUS. She should consider doing standup comedy, so funny! Her narratives are literally LOL funny and that’s not how I usually read…laughing!
Cade and Iris had a thing in high school until he did one of his more ridiculous stunts which changed everything. Fast-forward seven years and the brothers have returned as billionaires and Iris is trying so hard to hold onto her anger with Cade. His antics make that really difficult even more so when he’s faced with a problem he never expected. Who is there to help him out? Iris.
There are times when I couldn’t decide if Cade was more sweet-ish or childish. So many funny moments: Iris pretending to type at the station; Cade’s baby-pool in the living room; “bone apple tea”; the bj on the diving board; when Grammy from HER CHERRY appears; lastly, anytime the brothers banter together, including Nick. I so hope we get Nick’s story soon…
I volunteered to review an ARC of this book through NetGalley and it comes highly recommended. I give it 10 Stars!
Anyone But Cade by Penelope Bloom is book two in her Anyone But series. Every book is about another couple and can easily be read as a stand alone.
The previous book is Anyone But Rich.
Anyone But Cade is Iris' and Cade's story.
Iris and Cade share a past. They were highschool sweethearts and had a bad breakup. Iris's still living in her small town and now her nemesis in form of Cade is back too.
Cade has an over inflated ego, he's sarcastic, annoying and not at all my favorite person. Throw a cute sidekick in the mix together with great writing and a fantstic story and you have a great read like Anything But Cade.
I loved the storyline and some of the characters, the excellent writing and the witty and fun bicker and banter. 4,5 Stars.
