After reading book one in this series I fell in love with cade and iris. This author is brilliant with the sassy, witty women and their counterparts chasing up a storm. Iris is no exception. You want her to be your bbf, and even though she's hating on cade, it's hilarious to read and see if they can work through it. Cafe is an absolute star. I couldn't stop laughing at his antics and comments. They way he deals out life lessons to bear had me chuckling away throughout the book. A must read book. sorry for late review, i posted on amazon on release day but they have only just loaded it to my profile |
This was such a great read. I was waiting for Cade’s story and I was not disappointed. Seven years ago Cade and Iris were high school sweethearts. She broke up with him because of a stupid action Cade did. Iris has been making herself stay clear of Cade, but that proves to be hard. She made a pact with Kira and Miranda seven years ago about not dating a King brother again. Kira already broke that pact. Will Iris? This has all the comical banter that I was expecting from these two. They butt heads and Cade turns it into a joke. I was laughing out loud while reading this book. The one thing that starts to bring them together is Bear, Cade’s five year old son. He is like a mini Cade and Iris is putty in his hands. She wants to make sure Cade is up to the task of being a father, so she takes a week off of work to make sure. There is a little suspense thrown in and I really wanted to smack Cade’s parents. Besides wanting to commit violence against his parents and her partner, all the other characters were great. This was such a great read and I really enjoyed Cade and Iris. This is one laugh out loud book you don’t want to miss out on. |

Another great book with an interesting storyline from Penelope Bloom! Cade and Iris are such lovely characters who capture the heart and mind of the reader! There are also some really funny moments! Really enjoyable book with just enough steamy scenes, drama, romance, and mystery to keep the pages turning! ***I voluntarily read and reviewed this as an ARC*** |
Anyone But Cade is the second book in the Anyone But series. It was a great, well-written, fun, entertaining story w/amazing characters and off the charts chemistry. Loved Cade and Iris together. Can’t wait for Nick’s story. |

Cade King is the wild brother, always the jokester. Iris had her career plans derailed by Cade’s irresponsibility in high school and made the pact with her best friends to never date a King again. Now that Kira is married to Cade’s twin that pact doesn’t hold the weight it used to. When Cade finds out he has a five year old son who is going to go to foster care if he does not take him he immediately takes custody. Cade has no idea of how to take care of a child and decides to ask for Iris’s help. While helping Cade with his son Bear, Iris starts to realize that the Cade the world see’s is not the real Cade. He has never gotten over Iris, she was the one and he messed it up but now he has a second chance. This was a very funny, sweet and sexy book. I can’t wait for Nick’s story |

Have you ever wondered just why you are attracted to something so wrong that it just feels right? Why the temptation to touch is just so irresistible? For Iris, Cade is the shiny red button. From her memories, he may not know the first thing about commitment and live just for the moment. and the thoughts that go through her brain state that she would need to have a recurring case of amnesia to believe he could change. But the addition of his son, time and a folly most rewarded just may be enough to tip the scales. |
This is the second book in the series and it can be read as a stand-alone. Cade and Iris were high school sweethearts and then he just left with his brothers, with no goodbye. Iris made a pact with her friends to never date a King brother again. Kira broke the pact to marry Rich, when Cade gets drunk and Iris, a cop gets to put him in his cell. Cade learns he is a father and the mother is going to jail, will he become the father Bear needs? Sparks begin flying between Iris and Cade, will she forgive him? Fast-paced fun read with plenty of drama and great steam. I liked it. |
I really enjoyed this book! I loved getting to know Cade, Cade's son, and Iris. I'm also a big fan of second chance romance's and this one did not disapoint. Even though this can be read alone, I wish I would have read Anyone but Rich, so I knew more about that brother before diving into this one. If you're looking for a second chance, enemies to lovers romcom this is for you! |

Iris and her best friends Kira and Miranda made a pact in high school after Iris and Kira had issues with the King Brothers. Seven years later Iris is a cop in West Valley. When the friends found out that the King Brothers were coming back in town they made another pact. Kira broke the pact and married Rich King. Cade is Rich’s identical twin brother. Cade has never forgotten Iris but he always turns everything into a joke, never serious. Cade still wants to be with Iris. Iris can’t stop thinking about Cade. |
The characters were written with such great detail and depth with a well written storyline and a plot that flowed smoothly from page to page made this book a very engaging read! The banter and the chemistry between Cade and Iris made this book a real page turner! |
I thoroughly enjoyed Iris and Cade's romance. This is book two in this series and I feel that you should really read book one, Anyone But Rich before you start reading this book. As this fun story unfolds there is plenty of humor, tension, drama and emotions to keep you entertained and engaged. These two share a painful history that has left lots of emotional baggage that must be addressed and worked through. I really felt for Iris and could understand her complicated feelings for and attitude towards Cade. As for Cade, this perpetual class clown/Peter Pan playboy did have a lot of growing up to do and fences to mend. That being said, there was no denying that he was a very charming rascal. |
Anyone But Cade is a swoon-worthy, lighthearted romance with adorable characters. I loved that this was a second chance romance and that we were able to meet them while they were in high school and see their progress seven years later. This is my first time reading a book by Penelope Bloom and I loved her writing style. It was romantic, comedic, and playful. Iris and Cade are total opposites and we all know how opposites-attract. Iris is always the responsible one. She knows what she wants and doesn't like breaking the rules. Cade is a carefree guy who likes to act spontaneously. He normally acts before he thinks and that gets him into trouble. Iris made a pact with her best friends that they wouldn't ever date a King brother again. But when Cade walks back into her life seven years later that promise she made is getting harder to keep. They still have amazing chemistry even though Iris is fighting it. Their witty banter is the best and fun to read. I really loved getting to see a more vulnerable side of Cade, especially when there is a shocking surprise in his life. I give Anyone But Cade 4 stars. It was a lighthearted and fun romance that made me fall in love with this entire story and characters. |

Cade and Iris will make laugh out loud in this great addition to the Anyone But series. Add in little Bear and you won’t be able to put this book down. I recommend this book and series. Can’t wait for the next book. I voluntarily reviewed this book. |

3.5 stars I liked the book but found Cade to be an annoying, shallow, shadow of William Chamberson (one of my favorite Penelope Bloom characters - Her Cherry). Even having completed the story, I still have no clue as to whether Cade is actually an idiot or not. I really liked that Cade took Bear without a second thought. Bear is such a self sufficient little dude but he really needs an adult to take care of him and Cade just doesn't qualify. I liked that Cade's brothers pitched in to help and I really hate his parents. The drama surrounding Bear is what kept my attention in this story and not the Iris/Cade tension. The absolute best part of the story is the special guest appearance and the end of the story and thus the boost to the 4 stars. I want to thank the author for allowing me a review copy of this book. Her books are always enjoyable. I am really looking forward to Nick's story. |
Damn another brother strikes again. It's clear that they all share this hypnotic pull that makes these women helpless to resist their charm. Doesn't hurt that they're hot as hell. Okay, and they seriously want forgiveness and forever. Funny and sexy like Penelope is known for delivering, this is yet another winner in my opinion and the wait begins for the next one...... I received an advanced copy of this book from Netgalley for my honest review. |
Anyone But Cade is the first book I have read by this author. This was a fun, cute story. Cade was a great leading character but Bear stole the show. A very enjoyable story with some interesting twists and turns. I look forward to going back and reading Book 1 of this series and can't wait to see what else is to come for the King Brothers. |

Iris was a deputy sheriff in her hometown of West Valley N. C.. One of her duties was to patrol and supervise any town gatherings. This event was a couples swim. Iris sat moodily on a hill to watch Miranda next to her, Miranda’s newish boyfriend Robbie down by the water waiting for Miranda. Iris’s other best friend Kira was down by the water with her husband Richad King. The three women had made a pack to have nothing to do with the King brothers but Kira broke the pact and even married a King brother. Everybody at the couples swim had a somebody except Iris. She would be with Moses -her cat tonight. Iris said men were overrated. Than Miranda saw cade King and a woman Iris didn’t recognize walking down to the river bank to wait for their turn. Cade and his brothers had come back to West valley and moved the headquarters of their company Sion here and bought a small circus with them. They came back millionaires , iris wondered if she could just date some random guy to get Cade out of her mind. Iris had to remind herself that she wasn’t supposed to care what Cade did or didn’t want. Iris decided she was too much of a badass to be sitting on a hill, pinning for Cade. he could have all the good looks and abs in the world, it didn’t have to matter. Iris had gotten over cade seven years ago after she broke up with him, or so she thought. Iris would just have to accept Cade is back and she’d have to get over him all over again. The real way, this time, cade made iris feel like she needed to see a therapist. Iris wondered if she actually hated cade or did she hate her fixation with hin that made her feel weak, willful, and stupid? As she walked to her cruiser Iris wondered if she was walking away because away cause she didn’t care or if it was because she cared too much. Cade had drank too much and got in a fight . when he was going to leave, his little brother Nick said he was pretty sure cade wasn’t supposed to leave as the cops had been called. Cade said “ cops? You mean Iris and her little boyfriend?” Thinking about iris and her new partner made a surge of anger roll through Cade. he was a pretty boy and cade bet iris liked riding around town with him. Cade decided Iris was a temptress and she knew how hard she made it to pretend she didn’t exist. Iris said to Cade” You and trouble winding up in the same place doesn’t shock me. But since when are you a drunk?” Cade had got some news last night that messed him up. Apparently he’d been a father for five years and nobody had bothered to tell him. Cade went into work. But he found Iris and this supposed child of his were competing for attention in Cade’s thought. Cade came to iris for help with his son bear, he’d just found out about . cade took custody of Bear or Bear would have ended up in the foster care system as his mother was in prison. Cade was helpless at times but deceptively capable, he was surprisingly deep beneath the surface. Cade was a walking contradiction and there was something fun and freeing in that. You never really knew what to expect. I really enjoyed reading this book. I loved Cade and Iris together and how they interacted. I liked the plot. I didn’t care for Miranda she seemed to stuck up as far as I am concerned. I love the relationship Cade had with his brothers. I really enjoyed watching Cade grow in this book. I loved Bear and felt he added a lot to this book. This did drag for me a little at times. I would have liked iris to have more resistance to Cade especially after seven years. But then again they both admitted they weren’t over each other. It was pretty easy to figure out how this was going to end but that was fine with me. In this case. I laughed at times while reading this book. I wish I could rate this a 4.5 . I loved the characters and the ins and outs of his book and I recommend it. |
Another great book in this series. This book will pull you in right from the beginning. The characters are great and funny! If you love second chance romances that will also have you laughing then you don’t want to miss this one. |
Funny with plenty of heart, Anyone But Cade has Penelope Bloom’s signature humor but also more angst and seriousness than I am accustomed to from her. There’s still plenty of banter and chemistry between our couple, but there’s also a lot of residual emotion between them from their complicated past. If you’ve read the first book in the series (not necessary but helpful), then Cade no doubt made an impression on you. He is over the top funny, a little ridiculous, and a rich playboy who doesn’t take much about life seriously. So when an unexpected revelation forces him to clean up his act, he is woefully unprepared for his new responsibilities. Enlisting the help of the woman he loved and lost, Cade’s life changes in a big way. I loved the first book in the series, so I was looking forward to Cade’s story and it didn’t disappoint. The writing is great, pairing humor with the angst that naturally comes with a second chance romance. I will openly admit that I’m not a huge fan of this trope (especially when the guy sleeps around so much during their separation), but it’s easy to see that Cade is a great guy underneath it all. He hurt Iris in high school, and she made it clear that she wanted him out of her life but neither one has been able to fully move on. Now that he’s back in town and in need of Iris’ help, they are forced to confront the feelings that still linger between them. They both have strong personalities and it was fun to read Cade’s bumpy journey into true adulthood. I’m definitely invested in the series and look forward to seeing what happens with the final brother - they each have such different personalities that the books all have their own vibe. I received a free copy via NetGalley and am voluntarily leaving a review of this romantic comedy. |

4.5 Stars I liked this book even better than the first one in the series. Cade and Iris are such quirky characters in the best way possible. There is so much humanity in this story. |
