Loved this book. Again one of the King brothers is hot, sexy and annoyingly sweet. Cade and Iris have history that she hasn't forgiven him for, but when something unexpected happens she softens towards him and helps him out. However hard she tries not to, I don't think anyone would be able to resist the King brothers. Amazing read. |
Anyone But….Cade is the second book in Penelope Bloom’s Anyone But...series, and Cade and Iris lead the way. As with book one, this story partners a King brother with one of the group of friends who vowed to never let these troublesome bad boys into their lives. Also present in book two are many cheesy and cliché moments and I felt that the story dragged on far too long. That said, it was fun read that didn’t require too much focus. |

If you are into books that have you laughing out loud and then wanting to kick bums at other times than you definitely can’t go past this one. Iris and Cade were kind of girlfriend and boyfriend when they were at school until Cade put a brownie filled of dope in Iris locker which she found and got kicked off the soccer team for having dope in her system. Years later Iris was a cop and arrested Cade well this is where this book really had me hooked. Its is definitely interesting watching Iris and Cade come together again after so many years apart. Will Iris be able to forgive Cade so they can become a family that involves Cade’s son that he has just found out he had when is sons mother is sent to jail. To find out how everything comes together you are going to have to read it yourself. I highly recommend this book. I voluntarily reviewed a copy of this book via Netgalley. |
Anyone But Cade by Penelope Bloom is the second book of the "Anyone But..." series. If you had read the first book in the series, Anyone But Rich, you'll know who the characters are already and the back story. Iris and her BFFs, Kira and Miranda, all vowed to never let the King brothers get in between their friendships again. Seven years ago, they sworn an oath to never date a King brother. Seven years later, the billionaire King brothers return to their small town with a new business venture. The first book focuses on Richard King and Kira's story. This book focuses on Cade and Iris. While the series is just a huge ball of cliche and cheesy, cringe-worthy moments on paper, I do think Cade and Iris are my favorite pair. They're both the more developed characters in the series. Some of the dialogue Cade has are just "LOL" worthy. However, some of the events and motives are pretty unbelievable. Like, who agrees to care for someone else's kid by taking a week off work, especially when you "hate" that person? The storyline is a bit dragged; could've wrapped it up in half the amount of pages. However, it is worth a read if you don't care for good writing and only looking for an easy, entertaining read. Thank you to Netgalley, Penelope Bloom, and the publisher for providing me with an ARC, in exchange for an honest, unbiased review. |

First of all I'd like to thank Montlake Romance for sharing an ARC of this book in exchange for my review. Seven years ago, Iris was in high school and was a promising soccer player when some laced brownies were found in her locker and she was kicked off the team. They weren't here brownies but those of her boyfriend, Cade. She was so upset she broke up with him and she swore a pact with her two best friends that they wouldn't have anything to do with Cade and his brothers. The brothers left town after high school but recently returned as the wealthy owners of a company. One of the three friends has already connected with and married one of the brothers. Iris comes into contact with Cade early on and things are a bit frosty at first but with time their relationship changes and they get to know each other as adults rather than the teenagers they once were. This was a pretty cute romance and it was already a foregone conclusion how it would end from the start. The nice parts came along finding out how that eventuates. The most interesting twist in this tale is the added character of Bear, who seems to help bring the two together more than they might have in other circumstance. There were a couple mysteries that were kind of obvious but they played out well. Like other Penelope Bloom stories I've read, the main characters are pretty likable and these were no different. I give this a solid 3.5 stars. I will post my review online two weeks before publication. |
I didnt love this book. I felt it was very predictable right from the first page. I also didnt like the authors sense of humor when she tried to make witty comments. I loved the cover it caught my eye and made me want to read it. I didnt read book 1 so I dont know if that had any effect on my liking it. I just felt I wasnt attached to any characters in the book at all. I need more feeling and depth this is definitely not the author for me. I have not posted to GoodReads because of my dislike for the book but I will at your request if needed |

Anyone But Cade, the second book in Penelope Bloom’s Anyone But... series, was a super fun, easy read, second chance at love RomCom which was such a pleasure to read! Seven years ago best friends Kira, Miranda and Iris made a pact to never ever date any of the King brothers (twins Rich and Cade, and Nick). Currently the pact has been irreparably damaged because Kira married Rich! Anyway, these days Iris is the sheriffs deputy in West Valley, North Carolina and Cade is now a famous billionaire who’s just moved back into town. She’s still crazy and a hard ass, and he’s still offensively attractive, has an astronomical ego and is a softhearted goof. The line between love and hate is pretty thin and their whole relationship is testament to this fact. They’ve got history but seven years have passed which make everything that happened in the past feel less important. And when Cade needs help he reaches out to Iris and against her better judgement she helps him. This causes her whole outlook on him to change when she sees that he has actually grown up a bit and genuinely cares. Spending time together is a new adventure for them and they realise that they actually make a good team. It was seven years ago that she made a promise to her friends. But these days it feels like this is the kind of promise that she should break, a promise that is worth breaking... |
What a great, quick easy read. I read the first book and this one essentially followed the other one but they could probably be read alone. It a quick hate to love story, and it is well done. There are real life problems in this one and it felt more genuine then the first in this series. I will follow Penelope Bloom anywhere, literally ANYWHERE! She is an fantastic, amazing, suck you in kinda author! |
Greeeeeaat book! Love this series . Funny, hot, sexy. I love bringing romance and laughter together! Penelope is a phenomenal author and I spent three day’s binge reading as many of her books as I could. |
4.25 stars I heart Penelope Bloom. She writes the funniest sexy-romantic books... Honestly, if you're ever in a slump, reading or otherwise, just pick up one of her Objects of Attraction series and a smile and a laugh is in short order. Anyone but Cade is the 2nd installment in the Anyone but... series and I am so bummed I haven't caught the first one yet. Anywho... Cade is hilarious. He is like watching a mischevious puppy romp around. If you've ever read Play by Kylie Scott from the Stage Dive series... Cade reminds me of Mal, a lot (which is sooo a good thing). So much fun! I love a guy with a good sense of humor and a playful spirit (you also have to have a little something up top to be able to pull it off as well). I tend to turn most of what other people say into innuendo (I prefer my entendres doubled)... so Cade and I would have gotten on like a house on fire. Iris was awesome as well. She was strong and smart but she was a 'real' person. She would try something and it wouldn't go quite right and would go maybe a bit awkward but she just admitted it and move on. She wasn't a pushover and she mostly enjoyed Cade's playfulness instead of trying to make him someone different. I love reading that connection, the spark, moments where you build up the antici......pation. Here we build that with banter. Oh, how I love good banter. Cade and Iris gave such good banter! It was funny and has you grinning like an idiot (so if you're sneak-reading while doing something you should be doing... be forewarned). I am usually not a huge fan of the second chance thing because if it didn't work out the first time, it was probably for a good reason... BUT this was different. The exception for that rule and I love it when we get to see this... Growth! Maturity! (to a point... please reference puppy comment above) The ability to show that you've learned from previous experiences. LOVE IT! I am also not a huge fan of OW/baby drama but again this was done very well and there wasn't too much of uncomfortableness. All in all, Anyone but Cade was funny, sexy, and just a good read. I really enjoyed this book and am so looking forward to the next one! Thank you to NetGalley, the author, and publisher for this generously provided ARC! |
I have just finished Anyone ButCade, book number 2 in the “Anyone But” series by Penelope Bloom. I have read Several books by Mrs Bloom, including Rich’s boom. I have waited for the next book I this weird and it was just as good as Rich’s. This series is about 3 rich brothers, the Kings who made 3 girls who were best friends lives miserable in high school. After the King brothers made their millions they decided to comeback to their home town of West Valley to build their home office. This story is about Cade and Iris. They actually dated in high school but broke up due to one of Cades dumb jokes. Cade is never serious and is always getting himself into trouble even as an adult. Once he comes back to West Valley Iris manages to avoid him as best she can until he landed himself in her jail one night. Iris tries her best to stay away from Cade but her nosieness has her following him to a bar a few days later. What she doesn’t expect is for Cade to explain to her the reason he ended up in jail. That reason is, earlier that day he found out he has a son he doesn’t know about named Bear. Bears mom is in jail and Cade has been notified by the authorities. Cade steps up and takes custody of him. He asks Iris to follow him home and she is blown away to realize that Cade left him at his house with the house keeper to go to town. This book is full of Cade constantly getting himself into predicaments while he is trying to be a dad and get Iris back in his life. I laughed out loud so many times. This is a sweet and funny book. I also like that Cade’s brothers and Iris’s friends are all up in their business at all times. I really enjoyed this book and can’t wait for Nick and Miranda’s book. I received an advanced copy for an honest review. |
Anyone But Cade by Penelope Bloom a five-star read that will make you Bloom. This is number two in the Anyone But series and it goes from strength to strength, its warm and funny and will surprise you in the best ways possible. This has it all, romance, spice, funny in spades as well as heart warming and honest, it really does have it all. Cade King has always been the class clown, the one people think won’t grow up, won’t be serious like his brothers, but that may just be that those who think that don’t know Cade very well. That being said I would love to slap the cuffs on him to teach him a lesson, I don’t know I would have the panache that Iris does with it. This one is definitely not one to be missed, Cade King needs to be read about, he has a story to tell and he has a way with words that will captivate and compel you. |

This book had me laughing out loud and routing for Rich! I love the bond of the brothers in this series and the stubbornness of the girls they upset/hurt so bad they felt the need to swear a teenage oath to never go near the brothers again no matter what including if they are billionaires. Who knew 7 years later the brothers would come home to open an east coast headquarters of the billion dollars company the started together after high school. Make sure you’re able to laugh out loud while reading this. Besides loving the stubbornness of Iris and her inability to not be drawn to Cade or sucked in by a Bear, you can’t help but love the interaction of the rest of the characters. I can’t wait for the next book in this series! |
Thanks to the Publisher and NetGalley for this ARC. I have read the first book 'Anyone But Rich' and this novel flows very much the same. There was no real major moment of drama, and the book seemed to jump forward in time without warning. I did enjoy the story but I feel there could have been more involved with it. |
Cade and Iris’s story will have you snorting out laughter, feeling all the feels and rooting for this second chance. I enjoyed all the banter back and forth between the two characters. We can’t help falling in love with arcade with his wit and joking personality. His interactions with Bear will melt your heart. Watching this couple become a cute little family is definitely heartwarming. I would recommend this to any romance reader. Highly recommended. *I was given a free advanced copy of this book by NetGalley in exchange for my honest and voluntary review. All thoughts and opinions are those of my own.* |

Cade and Iris are quite the pair. I loved Bear! Cade is the complete opposite or of twin Rich so this book contained a lot more humor and was very good. I really enjoy the King brothers and I’m excited to read Nick’s story next. |

This was a light easy read. Quite predictable, but enjoyable nonetheless. The dialogue between the characters was very amusing. I felt Iris was better portrayed and more believable than Cade and I would have enjoyed it more if some of the book had explored Cade’s developing relationship with his son. It is the 1st book that I have read by this author and would enjoy reading the other 2 books in the series. Thank you for allowing me to read a preview copy. |
I absolutely love everything about this book. If you love a good second chance romance, then you need too read Iris & Cade’s story. Cade is very charming and absolutely hilarious. Bear omg he was adorable and completely stole the show. This book and characters had me hooked from page one. Another great read that everyone must read. |
Cade and Iris's story is fun and exciting! I loved their chemistry and the growth of Cade's character. I enjoyed this one more than Anyone but Rich. Cade is hilarious with his outrageous outburst that scarily make sense. Iris and her perverted night stick jokes kept me laughing. Even the side characters were great and I enjoyed every word of it! Can't wait for Penelope Blooms next story!! |
This author as the unfailing ability to make you laugh out loud at some of the most outlandish things. This story is such a great way of showing the father take the front seat and responsibility. They have an unusual bond, but hilariously written. I think I laughed until I cried. The is some spying and evil doings but for the most part it’s a humorous romance that will put you in a great mood and wanting more. I really want to read Nick’s story now! I received this book for an honest review! |
