Really struggled to get into this and didn’t feel the plot really led anywhere. The thoughts of the main character came through loud and clear though so good characterisation

I really tried to enjoy this book, but it wasn’t for me. I couldn’t relate to the characters, especially the main character and her boyfriend, I just didn’t find them relatable. I know there are some who will love this book, I am just not one of them.

Thank you NetGalley, Catherine Blackmore and Rowanvale Books Ltd. for this advanced reader edition and hearing my honest review. Looking forward to reading more with you

I received a free digital copy of this book from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

I enjoyed this read, but not for the reason I think most people would. I resonated a lot with Emily and her struggles to overcome her anxieties and fear. I know how that feeling gets when people do not believe you have a real issue.
Fear and anxiety is such a debilitating feeling and it becomes even more daunting when those around you do not take your pain seriously.
This book was very well written. It was realistically intense and I loved seeing Emily's growth through out. I found this to be very thought provoking and made me ask a lot of important questions.
Thank you to the author, the publisher and netgalley for allowing me to review this title.

This book was fast paced. Hard to put down. It flowed well and it was very well written. It caught hold of me and had me hooked from the start . I was literally on the edge of my seat reading this book.

My main thoughts were based on how long it took for Emily to actually see her doctors!

Emily has a fear of masks that escalates around Halloween. She also has awful nightmares that a man with a knife is preying on her. More so - she is "hearing voices". Initially she wonders if her boyfriend of a year, Mason, is behind this. She seems to sleep better when he is around and hears the voices less. As a working person, Emily is having trouble with her job due to the panic/anxiety attacks that follow when she sees masks or the hearing of voices.

Another takeaway from the author is the problem of insensitivity with some people. Emily is waiting for a doctor and the workplace is not cutting her a break. (Someone give the woman a valium!!!!) She is in trouble for taking too many days off - but her workplace doesn't understand the country's health care system. Shame.

I loved the book and was flummoxed by the healthcare system that was depicted. I would have gone to A&E and done anything to get in!

Great portrayal of characters and a different type of plotline. The ending satisfied me, as well. I hope that Ms. Blackmore will have another read for us soon!

Many Thanks to Cameron Publicity/Marketing Ltd. and NetGalley for a poignant look at today's world.

In my opinion "can't you just get over it" is one of the most stupid and insensitive questions in the English language. I'm pretty certain there are many many people who have suffered terrible traumas or struggle to get through every day who would love to be able to get over it but unfortunately in reality it's just not that simple.

Night after night Emily's dreams are haunted by an expressionless figure who pursues her and stabs her just before she wakes up.

Her fear escalates when she starts seeing the figure at work and hearing voices, can your nightmares become reality or is someone or something playing with her? As Halloween gets closer and her nightmares get worse,Emily starts to worry about her sanity.

Desperate for answers,Emily struggles to overcome her fear and the disbelief of people around her as she searches for ways to reclaim her life from her nightmares.

I,unfortunately know only too well how debilitating fear and anxiety can be and how much of an impact it can have on your life. Therefore I could fully understand and empathise with poor Emily as she struggled to get through each day and get the people in her life to take her fears seriously. But were her fears grounded in reality or were they all in her head? Was she being pursued by a real person or suffering from a mental illness? Emily was a complex character who despite feeling some empathy towards,I also found quite unlikable at times due to her hot and cold attitude towards her long suffering boyfriend/fiance Mason. But could understand her attitude towards some other characters who appeared in the story.

This is a very well written debut that is intense, thought provoking and has a realistic conclusion as in just like in reality it doesn't have a nice happy ending that arrives wrapped in a ribbon and is finished off with a pretty little bow. This was a enthralling story that held my attention throughout and had me frantically turning the pages. A very enjoyable debut and I look forward to reading more books that are written by this author in the future.

I've really tried to get into this book. It sounded as if it would be a good read but I just can't get past how monumentally irritating the main character is!

I'm sure this will appeal to many readers, but sadly not for me. Thanks to Netgalley the publisher for letting me try to read this book!

Emily is not sleeping well. Horrible nightmares in which a masked man is chasing her and then stabbing her with a knife lead to her waking up screaming. But then there's also the voice .. a man's voice that no one else can hear.

When she starts seeing the figure while at work, she worries that her nightmares are becoming a reality. Is she losing her sanity?

Desperate for answers, Emily struggles against the disbelief of everyone around her as she searches for a way to reclaim her life from her nightmares.

This is a psychological fiction, well written, with suspense that increases as the pages are turned. Without any spoilers, I was a bit disappointed, and the ending was a let down. However, Halloween is around the corner and this is very fitting for the time of year.

Many thanks to the author / Cameron Publicity & Marketing Ltd / Netgalley for the digital copy of this spooky tale. Read and reviewed voluntarily, opinions expressed here are unbiased and entirely my own.
