: I loved the first book in this series and Helena Hunting is always going to be one of my auto-buy and forever-love authors. I was so excited to learn that RJ's sister, Stevie was going to get a story, and of course the male lead is RJ's teammate, Bishop, who he doesn't have the best relationship with. It starts off hilariously in true Helena Hunting fashion, where Stevie finds herself staying at RJ's apartment after a bad breakup, and Bishop, who is his neighbor, mistaken her for a mistress. It's funny for him to learn that she is actually his sister, and definitely off-limits because RJ is his team captain. They have this undeniable attraction, and I love how they start off by seeing each other in the morning by getting the paper. One of my favorite things about this book was Bishop's variety of boxers and the stuff they say. It always cracked me up reading those passages. Things get a bit complicated when Bishop injures himself, and Stevie offers to help him with his rehab. He is able to get back on the ice faster, and she gets to add a professional athlete to her resume. It seems like a win-win, but they both begin developing feelings for one another. I loved this book a lot. I loved both Bishop and Stevie so much and I loved seeing them fall for one another. The build up was absolutely perfect. The only thing I didn't love was seeing RJ as an intense over-protective brother. It was part of the story, but it made him a teensy bit less attractive in those moments. This was a deliciously (I say this because I now have a craving for pizza since it's mentioned a lot in the book) fun book. It was funny, heartwarming, incredibly sexy at times, and super sweet. I def think this is my favorite of the series (until the next one...). It was also so good to see RJ and Lainey again, and some familiar faces from the PUCKED series. Def recommend checking this series out! |

I truly enjoyed reading A Favor for a Favor by Helena Hunting. It was charming, sweet and put a smile on my face while reading. Stevie and Bishop have so much chemistry and I love their banter. Stevie was fun and easy-going and drove Bishop crazy. Bishop is determined, but is in need of help, help Stevie can give. But can they keep it professional? I loved getting lost in this story so much. Such an adorable read! Happy reading! |
5/5 stars This story was delicious! I really loved this slow burn hockey romance with tons of chemistry between Stevie and Bishop! Synopsis When Stevie moves into her brother's apartment across the hall from Bishop, a professional hockey player, he mistakes her for a home-wrecking puck bunny and she takes him for a jerk. However when Bishop receives an injury on the ice, Stevie, a sports therapist, offers to rehab him. He'll get back on the ice quicker and she'll get to put that she assisted in the rehabilitation of a professional player on her resume. Let's call it a favor for a favor. Pacing & Points of View I devoured this enemies to lovers story in just a few hours! I just couldn't put it down. I loved that there were points of view for both Stevie and Bishop. It's way more entertaining to see what's going on in each characters head during the moment. Characters Stevie and Bishop are in my favorite couples now by this author! I absolutely loved them together and easily connected to both of their personalities. I really connected with Stevie being in the medical field as a sports therapist trying to make a name for herself without her famous brother's influence. She was a very strong female character that had some bumps in the road of life. I just wish she would've stood up to the ex a bit more in the story. She was so feisty in some scenes with other characters, but blew off the clear harassment in other scenes. Bishop was a bit of a hockey grump with a soft heart and I loved getting to know him more throughout the story. The chemistry between the Stevie and Bishop was off the charts and the sex scenes were downright steamy! This was a definite slow burn story though as half of the book was build-up between the characters during rehab. It's definitely one of the better slow burns I've read in a long while and the pay off was extremely satisfying! As with her previous hockey books, there are still a few delicious cameos by our favorite 'Pucked' hockey players and their significant others as well as future main characters. I love that the author ties in her whole hockey world with several series. It makes the stories sugar sweet for the long time fans and encourages new fans of the series to attack her back listed titles! Overall Overall, I absolutely loved this story! It had all the good tropes including forced proximity, a sports romance, enemies to lovers, and a bit of fake dating. I'm positive I will reread this one in the future over and over again. It's that amazing! Thank you so much to Montlake Romance and NetGalley for allowing me the opportunity to read this amazing digital ARC in exchange for an honest review. |

Omg!! This book just may be my favorite book by Helena Hunting!! A Favor for a Favor gives us a different hockey team. A whole new group of players and women. I’m kind of in love with these players. Bishop is my new favorite hockey player. He’s gruff and moody, but underneath is such a lovable softie. His relationship with his brother is so loyal and loving. Stevie is Rook’s sister, who is Bishop’s new team captain. A series of misunderstandings cause a lot of hostility between bishop and Stevie, who are now new neighbors. This book is a sweet and funny slow burn, enemies to friends to lovers lol... I loved it! |
Helena is the queen of rom-com for a reason! Not only was it one of my favorite reads in 2019 but it exceeded my expectations. From Stevie and Bishop's hilarious meet-cute to ending chapter, I was hooked. Bishop has to be one of my favorite characters of Helena's (right after Alex, Lance, Hayden). Bishop, while being a grumpy butt has a heart of gold. He just wants his team to do well and he was to jive with the team. Bishop is a one-man show trying his best to help his brother while doing well on the ice. Being injured isn't ideal with all the tension going on but getting additional therapy might just help him get back on the ice sooner. It helps that he might just have a crush on his neighbor, who happens to be the captain's sister. They come up with a deal that will help them both long term. What Bishop didn't expect was for Stevie to melt is ice heart along the way. Stevie is trying to make it in the world. She's tired of being her brother's shadow and she just wants to stand on her own. What she doesn't know is the guy across the hall with the hilarious underwear will not only help her career but will also show her love. I love this new series and cannot wait for more to see what the rom-com queen comes up with! I just know it will have loads of awkward and steamy moments, filled with smart and fun Hockey players. 5 stars! |
WOWZA! Helena Hunting has done it again. There is nothing I love more than a moody, broody, growly alpha and Bishop was all of that to a T! He was absolute perfection. Brusque on the outside but a big fluffy teddy bear on the inside. I loved his connection with Stevie. She was a girl after my own heart — sassy and sexy. Together they were the perfect combination! I was so excited to read Stevie's book because I loved RJ in A Lie For A Lie and was so intrigued about reading his sister's book. Down on her luck, when Stevie decides to stay at her brother's empty penthouse she could never have expected to encounter a surly neighbor in the form of Bishop. Their banter was AMAZING and I was here for their sexual tension all day! I could not get enough! Here’s what I loved most: The banter — I’m an addict for great banter and this book delivered in a major way. The chemistry - this coupling is one of my top faves. The writing - this author always delivers a witty, well plotted novel, that not only interests me, but is beyond entertaining. Overall, this story had Heart, Humor and Heat and I loved every single minute of it. Stevie and Bishop were fantastic together and I seriously can not wait for more from this author in the All In series!! 5 Stars!! |
This was a funny and sweet love story. Stevie and Bishop were great characters, full of detail and quirks, though the supporting cast could've used more fleshing-out (they felt a bit one-dimensional, like paper dolls). Helena Hunting knows how to slowly unfold a story without rushing anything, which sucks you in. |
A Favor for a Favor . . . it’s good to have someone owe you one, because you never know when you’ll need to call it in! Bishop Winslow isn’t having the best year. Traded to the new NHL expansion team, he’s expecting to be named captain only to lose out to someone who acts like the golden boy of hockey and pushes for Bishop to play Defense because of his size. Under close scrutiny of the coach and a captain who he hates, things go even further downhill when a hot mess of a woman becomes his new neighbor after she shows up making way too much noise at his hated and very married captain’s apartment. Stevie Bowman needs to catch a break. After moving to Seattle with her boyfriend so they can both work at the same sports clinic, she walks in on him cheating with another woman. With no money in the bank after grad school and no place to go, her brother offers her his apartment, furnished by the team, so she has a place to stay until she gets back on his feet. All she wanted was some quiet. Instead she gets a verbally combative neighbor who never seems to wear more than his boxer briefs while berating her in the hall. At least he’s good to look at! Insult after insult turns into a game of one-up manship each day as both Bishop and Winslow try to outdo one another with their crazy underwear styles while picking up their morning papers. But, when Bishop is sidelined by a serious injury, Stevie offers her services as a physiotherapist to help Bishop rehab his injury and get back on the ice quicker so that she can have a professional athlete on her resume. As their mutually beneficial relationship starts to grow into something more, Bishop also helps Stevie deal with her annoying ex. (Queue laugh after laugh!) Unable to keep their hands to themselves, now they’ll have to deal with the fallout of Stevie’s brother who hates Bishop, an unhappy coach who feels like Bishop put himself first rather than the team, a viral video putting them both in the spotlight and a bunch of misunderstandings and freakouts. I just have to say, I am so in love with this couple! They are completely unconventional in every way . . . I mean, underwear wars? Bishop is super gruff on the outside and definitely not a people person and Stevie is all about pushing his buttons to which he responds in kind. But, there is something about them that just clicks and makes them work so well! I loved watching them form a mutually beneficial working relationship that turned into one smoking hot romance! I adored that Stevie wants to make it on her own merits rather than on her brother’s fame. And, the fact that Bishop gets all snarky alpha when dealing with Stevie’s ex is hella hot! A Favor for a Favor was fun and flirty, had some of the best banter and dialogue I’ve read in a while and had me fanning myself from how hot this couple was. 5 stars! |
I adore Helena Hunting and I think this may be my new favorite book from her! Definitely one of my top reads of the year so far. Stevie is fierce, hilarious and such a great heroine. Bishop is a cranky pants who needs to lighten up and together, he and Stevie share moments of fun banter and a whole heck of a lot sexual tension. Their chemistry is off the charts. I love the way Helena can take so many books with the same general genre (romcom with a hockey focus) and yet still find ways to make everything fresh. If you liked A Lie for A Lie, this is even better. You don't necessarily have to read it first although it will help just a bit with some of the side characters. The overlap isn't significant though. I highly, highly recommend this book! |
I loved this book! It had great humour , banter and character development. It was such a refreshing read and I look forward to the next book in the series ! |
(Posted on GR January 27, 2020) Hunting has quite the knack of writing a male character who has the perfect amount of "rough around the edges" but a great heart. Bishop comes across as a cantankerous brute, but what I found to be most amazing is that despite him being crusty, his moral compass doesn't waver in the slightest. Talk about a diamond in the rough. So of course that sets up the perfect antagonist situation with the kin of the one person he can't stand...the team captain. And as cranky as Bishop can be, he's more than met his match in Stevie. She's smart, motivated, and a really good physical therapist. and she won't take his crap. Can you smell where this is going? It's a great story that reminds us that we really can't judge a book by its cover and sometimes we love calls the shots, even if we're not ready to get in the game. A really fun observation...the main guys in the book are all named after chess pieces: Rook, Bishop, King. I guess they are all pawns in the game of love. You can't go wrong with a Helena Hunting novel. She does a great job in her worldbuilding and writing a follow-up in the series! |
I pretty much enjoyed Favor for A Favor more I would say. The set up was funny the whole mistaken for a puck bunny and the womanizing neighbor. Thehn Bishop's injury and now Stevie steps up to help rehab. Bishop can a major pain, grumpy but his heart is in the right place. He loves his brother and is a priority for him. This started of with the Bishop and Stevie butting heads but they do get along. What starts as mutually beneficial situation becomes something else. With all that tension from before. I quite enjoyed their banter and exchanges, Bishop can be a jerk but he makes up for it. Stevie is great smart, capable and snarky. She gives Bishop's crap back at him when he's being annoying. Oh the rehab sessions has tons of innuendo and tension. It's inadvertently slow burn in a way that their friendship and all that developed before jumping in. Bishop his injury and little other factors that popped up. They held out as long as they could. Then it was full steam ahead. Hanging out together and Bishop being nicer than his usual grumpy scowly ways. Also Stevie can be pithy so their back and forth has some humor. When their new relationship is revealed not in a good way. They took time to figure it out but they talked after and that in itself is yey. Bishop can be quite sweet. I definitely want to hear more about King, I can imagine him looking like Chris Evans. He sounds fun even though he can straight laced. This whole Seattle team expansion is very much likable. |
The brilliant Helena Hunting is highly addictive, and always sucks me in her stories from the jump. A Favor for a Favor has a frustrating push & pull which hurts so good. Stevie walked in on her boyfriend hooking up with another woman in their bed, so she's doing her absolute best trying to get past that when she ends up staying at her brother's condo, with a grumpy new neighbor making all kinds of assumptions about her which are false. Obviously, this means that Bishop (grumpy neighbor) is going to be a pain in the behind, and he is at first. Things start to change when a severe injury has Stevie helping him, and it's not long before they notice a chemistry, though try to ignore it. However, they make a bargain, as she helps him get back on the ice, while he helps her career since he's the first big name she's worked on to date. Bishop was one of those heroes, who is a brooding man, making him hard to deal with at times, while Stevie may or may no have trust issues at this time. Their interactions are filled with witty banter, even when I get mad at some of Bishop's decisions. I couldn't get enough of this story, and am seriously debating reading it again, though I finished it this past week. So, go ahead and hit that one click button, as you won't be sorry, and I HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND! |
I honestly don’t know how the author does it but each book and each series get more amazing. I loved Bishop so much, his stony behavior to the outside world was such a contrast to how caring he truly was especially when it came to care for his brother. Bishop loved his younger brother and all his hard work was to make sure that his brother would be taken care of and his diabetes would always be watched, however his younger brother just wanted to be normal even it it meant living a lifestyle Bishop didn’t approve of. Bishop and Stevie’s first initial meeting doesn’t go too well because Bishop thinks she’s her brother’s mistress, so he misjudges her instantly and she thinks he’s a know it all cocky hockey player. This two had an amazing banter and even though they start off on the work foot things work out and they do a favor for a favor where Stevie helps Bishop’s rehabilitation and she gets to use his NHL status on her resume. What these two don’t realize is their feelings are real because they go from enemies to friends to lovers. They were perfect for each other and when they finally stopped thinking everything, they did for each other was only friendly favors did they finally see they were made for each other. I did love seeing more of the other characters Rj and especially Alex, but with each book I find myself becoming more annoyed than entertained by Violet, I get she is the o.g. character and she had been hilarious and that she is the kind of matriarch of these books and craziness but her constant meddling in others’ lives and word vomit has almost made me end up not liking her as much as I use to, I just think I have found her humor to be annoying lately and maybe her humor has lost its spark. Still a great read and still some of my all-time favorite characters I just think a few have ran their course. |
Wow this book kind of starts out like a slow burn but once it started to heat up it went from zero to on fire in 2 seconds flat. I was laughing so hard every time Stevie would describe Bishop's underwear choice. I could actually picture all of their encounters playing out during physical therapy the writing was amazing. I loved the conversations that included Kingston he was so funny. This was my first book by this author I am now going to be reading everything I can find. I was laughing and crying thru the entire book. I really loved the relationship that Bishop had with his brother Nolan. A man that really loves his family like Bishop did swoon worthy!! Amazing book 5 Stars. |
A favor for a favor was everything I expected and more. It is so sweet, sexy and fun, there is no doubt that Helena Hunting is the queen of the rom-com, from the first words both characters owned my heart and I could not put it down a single second. Stevie, our heroine wants to overcome an infidelity of her boyfriend, and moves to the building where our hero, Bishop lives. Their first interaction is not the best, and despite the attraction they both feel towards each other, a misunderstanding makes them think the worst of the other, but their first scenes are so hilarious that I couldn't stop laughing a single moment. After they clear up the misunderstanding, Stevie that is a physiotherapist, begins to help Bishop, who is a hockey player, to rehabilitate from a groin injury in a hockey game. Through rehabilitation they begin to know each other, and their relationship begins to evolve to friends, but the attraction grows between them and their scenes are all so sexy, their slow burn chemistry almost burns my Kindle. Wow, I almost died of spontaneous combustion, I loved them. Bishop is so sweet when he stops being an idiot, he made me sigh so much, and he cares so much for his brother and Stevie, he melted my heart. Stevie is so focused on being independent and not living under the shadow of her brother's fame, that makes her deny her attraction even more. This is an incredible story, addictive, entertaining, so hilarious, I cannot recommend it enough, if you are a fan of the author and her stories you definitely will not want to miss this, it is a enemies to lovers that will leave you breathless. |

5 Stars A Favor for a Favor by Helena Hunting is the second book in the All In series and it can be read as a stand-alone. All I can say is WOW! This story was AMAZING! Stevie and Bishop’s journey was full of tension that was so thick, chemistry that you will feel for days, and a love that was so pure and true. These two characters were fantastic. I seriously fell in love with both of them from the get-go. Stevie was a well-developed heroine. Hard yet soft, independent, and a mouth on her like no other. And Bishop...he was the perfect hero. Underneath his gruff exterior was a man that just wanted to make sure his family was taken care of. Neither one expected the other… I loved this book so much! Ms. Hunting nailed it with A Favor for a Favor. Highly recommend reading it! |
Never boring, always funny, "A Favor for a Favor" is perfect if you want an enjoyable read without too much drama. First Bishop and Stevie are ENEMIES, then FRIENDS, and finally LOVERS. Their relationship and their feelings grow slowly but since the first pages the sexual tension between them is off the charts and that creates some laughing out loud scenes. Helena Hunting definitely knows how to write romcom with witty banter, great chemistry, funny and lovely characters... Prepare yourself for : _sexiness, _sparks, _a bruised crotch, _pizzas, _a battle of funny underwear, _an overprotective brother, _an irritating ex-boyfriend, _an adorable and grumpy and amazing hero _AND a sassy and sarcastic and kind heroine. ---> Go for it!!!! Bonus: we have cameos from our favorite HH's characters! |
This was a funny, sexual-tension-filled slow burn, friends to lovers romance that I was glued to from start to finish. I think I liked the parts where Bishop, normally so serious, let his guard down around Stevie and just relaxed. I love slow burns like this one and both MCs were written perfectly! Would I recommend? Yes, Stevie and Bishop were hilarious! It was also safe of the cliché womanizing athlete (Bishop was a grumpy celibate hottie!) and OW drama. Then there’s Stevie, who always gave as good and she got :) I loved her spunky attitude. All in all, a really engaging read! |
