Practical examples help the reader learn the special system Fogg has devised to help you break down changes into small adjustments. You have to want to be able to make the change and be able to do it, and you shouldn't judge yourself - all very sensible. There's probably an app for the bit with index cards now! Sorry it took so long to read and review, thank you to the publisher for allowing me to read it.

I have previously read and reviewed this book on my blog / Goodreads. Due to changing accounts those reviews were lost apart from the star rating. I thank you for the opportunity to read and review this book

A fabulous self-help book. You don't need to read very much of it before finding little ways to make your day better. I liked that I could dip in and out of the book, trying one technique before reading on.

Anyone else found themselves developing bad habits through lockdown? I know I certainly have, so reading this book right now was exactly what I needed!

It really helps with overwhelm - the idea that forming these tiny habits will cumulate for the greater good - don't set unrealistic expectations on yourself and you're less likely to feel a sense of failure. Plus I found the exercise really useful for pushing me to take action.

Definitely one I'm going to be investing in the IRL copy of so I can dip back into it easily when I need to!

"Giant oaks from tiny acorns grow."
Perhaps the same principle can apply to our lives and by identifying and enacting small but regular changes we can enable large changes in our selves.
Fogg presents a clear rationale for this approach as well as techniques for creating those changes in your own habits.
It's not for everyone but if you feel that you need some structure to enact change this is a good place to start.

A great self help book with lots of easy to implement tips. Really useful and there are several things I will use to help me in my daily life. A really interesting read.

An insightful read with practices that you can go away and implement to really help you change your habits. Sometimes we focus too much on the bigger picture rather than focusing on these small steps that will eventually install big change. Explained and executed in an interesting and easy to understand way

The most exciting aspect of this book was the illustration and breakdown of the 'behaviour model'.
The book, however, offers so much more. The morning mantra – "Today is going to be a great day!" – and the two press-ups after a visit to the bathroom are still with me. They have made a significant difference to my health and well-being, and the book was worth reading just for those!
The approach to behavioural change is so straightforward and free of the kind of shame that comes from feeling like you're just 'too lazy' to do things 'right'.
By its nature, Tiny Habits encourages you to change your habits with small actions, making it accessible to all! I would highly recommend it.

‘Motivation is like a party animal friend. Great for a night out, but not someone you would rely on to pick you up from the airport.’

This book is a self help book that focuses on human behaviour and creating tiny habits to lead to bigger changes in your life.

I found it did take me a couple of months to read, but I just dipped in and out of it.

It’s accessibly written and has clearly been well researched. There are plenty of practical step by step guides to the method and real world examples.

I think you would need to refer back to the book if you were going to follow the method as there’s a lot of information.

This isn’t the kind of book I would normally read but after reading it I can see ways in which I can change my behaviours.

I would recommend it, particularly if you find yourself deciding to make a huge change all at once and wondering why you can’t stick to it.

Thanks to NetGalley and Penguin Random House UK for providing a copy for review.

I do like the premise of this book - habits can be formed through the repetition of small routines. You don't have to think big - think small. Completing a marathon starts with putting your running shoes on every day. The book dissects how to create lasting habits, by finding and nurturing behaviours that are easy to do. As he likes to say, Behaviours = Prompts + Ability + Motivation. There are lots of takeaways here, thought the second half could've done with a trim as far too much padding with examples.

The only thing that put me off was the constant self-promotion and the labelling and capitalisation of his basic terms - Habiteers, for examples, are people who've been to his boot-camp or on his course. Could be my Britishness, maybe this wouldn't grate Americans.

Still, a good book, an easy read, so a solid 4*.

A really simple idea that incorporates little changes into your routine. An easy read, and unlike some self help books this doesn’t feel unrealistic or overwhelming.

Tiny Habits by B J Fogg is about making a habit to do something small, having that fixed to something that happens regularly, and celebrating when you do it.  Like 2 push ups after you pee.

Yes, that really is the idea.  Obviously it's a little more complicated than that, and there's some more behavioural thinking about what to do when, and about how to break a bad habit, but that's the basic principal.  There are suggestions for things other people have done, how they've done them, and the problems they've overcome.

It really is an inspiring read, and did make me think about some of the habits that I've generated over the years, and which ones have stuck, and which ones haven't!

If you want some ideas on how to help you change something, then this a good book to read for ideas on how to do that.

This book is great and really useful for setting up habits that you actually keep. Like BJ Fogg says, we try to create new habits when our motivation is high, but when our motivation dips the habits get forgotten. The method described in this book has definitely helped me keep on track, even on the days when I really don’t feel like it. Definitely recommend this for everyone.

It took me too long to finish this book and I am a little bit ashamed because it has some really useful points! The book is a bit of a slog to get through because the first 3 chapters feel like a sales pitch and for me, I'd heard some of these ideas before. However, from Chapter 4 until the last chapter (chapter 8 I believe), this book had some absolute gems and just light bulb moments for me BJ really takes the time to explain why Tiny Habits works and what Tiny Habits you can implement, there is so much in there about anchoring, incentives vs rewards and celebration that I think are key and important factors to building habits. I also like the tons of resources at the end, from habits to create health to habits to be more kind, BJ has listed about 50 tiny habits you can start to work on. Believe when I say that are TINY and that's the brilliant thing about this book it really advocates for small changes and doesn't make you feel stupid for it, want to just do two push-ups a day and make that your habit? That's fine. Overall a lovely book, I wasn't too fond of Chapter 8, mainly because I don't know that I'd be using it in a workplace setting but it set out good ways in which this can lead to a change in the workplace or even in your family!

Tiny Habits is a self help book that explains how we can break down aspirations into manageable pieces in order to change our behaviour and succeed in achieving them. If you are full of good intentions, but fail to remain motivated to see them through, this book will explain how to maintain a positive outlook and slowly change your behaviour so that it becomes a part of your normal life and routine. It is backed by research and gives relevant case study example of individuals who have a specific aim, and have used the model set out in the book to achieve their goals.
I read this book over a period of weeks, and would have to reference it repeatedly if I was to try and achieve a goal in this way. I think it would be incredibly helpful for individuals who need help with motivation and approaching life changes in a sustainable way.

I have read quite a few books when I have been motivated to make a big change in my life or want to gain a new perspective. This book is different and yet so simple. Very powerful tool with reasoning and research to how and why it works. Already I have started three new tiny habits which the confidence that they will stay and become bigger. One of my favourites books in this genre to-date.
