I absolutely love Bree Taggert. From the very first page this story grabs you and you become instantly attached to her. The heart breaking opening to the book makes the reader totally invested in this family’s lives, and as things progress you feel the anger, sorrow, heartache and determination right along with Bree. The gradually revealed insight into Bree and her family is captivating, and the twists and intrigue in the plot are excellent. Matt is an appealing character and I loved the slow burn of their romance. The author does an amazing job of telling a story that is believable and totally engrossing. From Bree’s fear of dogs to Matt’s loyalty to his friend, Dana’s solid friendship and Justin’s addiction, you find yourself immersed in the struggles, heartache and battles they face. The book is fresh, exciting, has lots of intrigue and great characters. Excellent start to the series. Absolutely stunning. I’ve been waiting to read this at a good time, a time when I could really sit and enjoy it. I finished this book in one sitting. The romance is not overbearing and although I love romance, I was more in love with the mystery and the suspense anyways. This book is amazing and it had me crying multiple times (some happy, some sad). I would recommend this to everyone.

Melinda Leigh is a master of the thriller genre with her novels always featuring a strong, badass female lead. The Bree Taggert series is no exception. Cross Her Heart is another can't-put-down-thriller with plenty of twists that keep the reader on the edge of their seat and the story introduces an entire cast of intriguing characters to be involved in subsequent novels in the series. I eagerly await the next entry in Bree's story.

This is the first book I've read by Melinda Leigh and I was SO impressed! It's one of the best romantic suspense books I've encountered so far and I definitely need to check out her other titles. The romance side was great, I loved the chemistry between Bree and Matt, but it was also genuinely suspenseful. I felt like I had an idea where the story was going several times but then Leigh would surprise me, which kept me invested til the end. Looking forward to reading more from this author!

OMG! Was this book great! I have nothing negative to say about this book at all. I read a lot of suspense books and this one had me captivated from the very first page ! When you read a book and get so caught up in the mystery and characters you know your reading a book that you will not want to end. Bree and Matt are such great lead characters. I honestly thought I figured out Erin's killer multiple times I was VERY wrong. This author throws in a surprising ending. I will say this over and over if you haven't read a book yet by Melinda Leigh your really missing out! Her books just keep you wanting more! I was glad to see this was a series and I will definitely  be waiting for the sequel . I look forward to reading more about Bree and Matt. If I could give this book more stars I would. You NEED to read this book ! Love thrills ,great characters and a mystery you won't be able to figure out? Then read today!!!

This is my first Melinda Leigh book and I loved it!!! Bree, a Philadelphia cop, gets a troubling voicemail from her younger sister Erin one night. When she tries to call Erin back there is no answer so Bree drives home to find her. She ends up finding out Erin has been murdered and Erin’s estranged husband Justin is missing. Bree starts working with Justin’s friend Matt, who also found Erin, to try and solve the murder (and hopefully clear his best friend’s name in the process). What they end up finding are lies upon lies in everyone’s lives. Erin was hiding something; Justin was hiding something; Erin’s best friend Steph is somehow involved and hiding something... same with the father of Erin’s two kids, Craig.. hiding something!

This didn’t have that one OMG moment which is usually what I enjoy most out of books (I like to be reading and get to that one part where you just think “holy crap”) but regardless this was a super quick k read and I look forward to reading more from Melinda Leigh!

What a ride. Being a Philly girl I gotta say I loved Bree and her badassery.(my word)

I could not put this book down but alas I did need to go to sleep. From start to finish I was invested with every single character I came into contact with. Those I hated and those I loved. 

This story has a lot of twists and a lot of layers. I’m so looking forward to more in this series. Because with this cast of characters the possibilities are endless. 

I’m afraid to dive into to much for fear of spoilers. Suffice to say it needs to be added to your pile and read!

This book is about the best of Melinda Leigh yet. I couldn't put the book down, it had me on the edge of my seat since the first chapter. She doesn't leave you hanging wondering what's next, you are like with the character all the way through till the end. I can't wait for what is next.

Action packed, thrilling and awesome. Another winner from Melinda Leigh. Her characters are so well written that you get sucked into the story and never want it to end. Hopefully more stories with these wonderful characters.

Melinda Leigh drew me into Bree's world from the first sentence. The characters were well written. Bree came across as a strong female lead that was driven to find the truth. The ending was definitely not what I was expecting. Which is a great thing in a suspense. It was my first book written by Melinda Leigh and I will definitely be trying some of her other books.

I really enjoyed this book. 
It's not so much a romance as it is a mystery. I was expecting a bit more chemistry between the main characters, but the action was well done. 

Melinda really reached into the essence of Bree's emotional turmoil and I cried during some parts of the book because it was touching or hard. 

Overall, it was good. But less romance.

I've read all of her books and without exception they are all equally brilliant!! It's nice to start a new series and I can't wait to read the next one!!

Melinda leigh never disappoints! She Ia a great mystery, suspense writer. I. For detective Bree Taggert, family is everything after receiving a  c call from her sister, she hurries home only to find her sister has been murdered. While looking into the under age gets help from a suspects friend  Matt, who has a retired k9. . These two have to work together to solve the mystery!

A well plotted and easy to read mystery. Sometimes you want a mystery that is both interesting and not overly graphic. This fit the bill. It was a fast paced story with characters I enjoyed and want to see more of. The mystery at the heart of the story was well written and kept me guessing. Really enjoyed this one.

Cross Her Heart is a thriller that will have you on the edge of your seat, unable to put it down! Melinda Leigh consistently delivers a great read every time! I loved it.

I adore this author and this new series did not disappoint! Thank you to @netgalley for the opportunity to read one of my favorite authors newest books. Bree Taggert was a great character that was very well developed, as were the other players in this story.  When Brees sister is killed she picks up her life and moves to her sisters town to care for her niece and nephew and to find out what happened to her sister. She partners up with a handsome hero who is a former officer and who happens to be the best friend of the only suspect in the case.. her sisters ex. But things are not always what they seem and this book takes us on a dark trail full of twists and turns to an ending i certainly did not see coming.
Suspenseful and fast paced, i highly recommend giving this one a read!!!

Bree Taggert has faced tragedy in her life, and became a cop to help right the wrongs of the world. A mysterious phone call from her sister compels Bree home, only to find her sister murdered. In addition to finding out who killed her, Bree also finds herself guardian to her sister’s children. 

Recommended for fans of quality Romantic Suspense.

Cross Her Heart is the first book in a new series by Melinda Leigh. If you have not read any of this authors books, you are missing out! This was a fantastic mystery that did not disappoint. It was suspenseful, full of surprising twists and turns, and had great lead characters that you want to know more about. I would recommend this book, or any of her other books, to anyone who loves a fast paced thriller that will keep you highly entertained and guessing as to what is coming next. I will definitely be awaiting more from this series!
