This one barely made it to 4 stars. It took me so long to connect with Mauricio and Wren. I had such a hard time feeling their chemistry. But once I tipped over the 50% mark I was feeling glad I kept on with the story. Having the Romano family involved helped bring some life to their tale. That family bond is definitely something I could feel. Plus it seemed they were more relaxed with each other which felt believable. Their humorous banter was easy going compared to how it was in the beginning.

I will say, I’m not feeling the purpose of the whole mystery around Dominic Corisi in the story. I was slightly intrigued from the first book but now it just feels like it’s a distraction. Had I known this was connected to a character from another series, I would’ve read that series first so I could understand his appearance in all this.

Another great story from author Ruth Cardello. As with the first book in this series it was fun, sad, full of drama & very sexy. The connection between Mauricio & Wren was electric right from the start. As with the Romano men, Mauricio learns fast that The One is instantly recognized & they will fumble & make mistakes but destiny awaits them. A vacation away from her life & meeting up with her best friend is what takes Wren to Paris. What she doesn’t realize is she’ll meet her destiny in the form of a former player. Mauricio has had many women but upon meeting Wren no one else exists. After a few stumbles on both parts Mauricio is determined to win Wren for forever. It was great seeing his family again & the humour they bring to the story. Ava was a hoot as always, love that little girl. Definitely recommend.

Steamy, insta-love flirty story!
Overall, I enjoyed this easy fun read, but I had trouble with connecting with the characters as I wished they were more developed.
3.5 stars!

Set in beautiful Paris, France Ruth Cardello gives you the wonderful story of Mauricio Romano and Wren Heath. This book is witty, emotional and full of family love as these two struggle to find if what they have is a true relationship.
An incredible page turning read.

The Wild One is the second book in the Corisi Billionaires series but can be read as a standalone.

The Wild One had such a cute pairing, between Mauricio and Wren. Wren was on the shy side at times, when she opened up though she would often start rambling about something which lead to Mauricio watching her throughout her passionate talks. She wasn't the type of girl Mauricio tend to go for but he was drawn to her like never before. This book had an overall good pace, a swoon-worthy romance, and so many delightfully cute scenes. Definitely one to read if you adore all things romance.

Amusing!

Mauricio and Wren’s story is humorous and witty with heart, sweetness and emotion. I really enjoyed the dynamics of both families and friends. Dominic’s chapters confused me. They must be part of a ongoing story line from elsewhere.

I voluntarily read an advanced copy.

5 - "It’s good to have goals…" stars!

I discovered Ruth’s writing through the first book in the Corisi Billionaire’s series; The Broken One which not only introduced us to the Romano family with Sebastian & Heather’s story, but it also introduced me to Dominic Corisi and his daughter Judy.

I enjoyed TBO so much that I read the author’s Legacy Collection Series in which Dominic is the main character in the first book but he also features heavily throughout the rest of the series, and from that point I added a new book boyfriend to my list (which if I am being honest happens rarely nowadays) as well as an author, who I know I will be reading for many, many years to come.

I am glad I took the time to read Dominic’s series before starting The Wild One because all signs point to them being very close bedfellows if the way this one ended and the hints that were dropped along the way are anything to go by.

I’d come to Paris looking for who I was. I hadn’t expected to meet someone who would make me want to be more than I’d ever been…

Wren and Mauricio’s story was an absolute winner for me, I started it before work, and finished it before bed, so take out that pesky work thing, then you can say I read it in one sitting. Loved the start where they meet in Paris, and the end when Mauricio went from ‘player to stayer’ had my heart all a-flutter!

I just hope Ruth has mad typing skillz because I am already desperate to get my hands on the rest of the series!

Wren has decided that it is time for her to make some changes in her life and start having the experiences she has only dreamed about. Going to Paris for vacation was a big step but deciding to have an affair with a sexy stranger was a leap she never saw coming.

Mauricio has always enjoyed the fun and freedom of his bachelor lifestyle however when his family needed him, he was there for them. When his friend asked him to come to Paris he meets Wren and they decide to spend a week enjoying Paris but when real life intrudes will their fling turn into forever?

This is a sweet and sexy story about two people who bring out the best in each other. He teaches her how to have fun and embrace new experiences and she shows him that finding a person who not only understands you but completes you is the greatest gift of all.

🗼Great setting, sizzling 🔥passion and stirring emotion😍
4.5🌟stars
😊This story was a winner for me with all of the key elements I look for in a romance and a bit more. The main couple, Mauricio and Wren, are both looking for something more from life and suddenly appear to find it after their chance meeting. Their close family relationships, especially Wren's with her PTSD-riddled father and Mauricio's unquestioning support for his brothers (and vice versa), added a depth to the emotional component to the story. This couple oozes physical attraction, but their conversation does not (ad nauseum) revolve around it. And while the romance is the hub of the story, Wren's need for career fulfillment balanced against her family's needs gets serious attention and her man understands that! 😌👍👍

Every good romance needs some hurdles to overcome and this one has just enough without getting angstful. And when it comes to a setting for the couple's first, heady days, who could beat the sights and tasty treats of Paris?!

I really enjoyed this book, its fast pace and its fine-tuned focus on the essentials.

Thanks to publisher Montlake Romance and NetGalley for providing a complimentary advance copy of the book; this is my voluntary and honest review.

3.5/5

First book that I have read from this author. It was an ok read for me. Standalone in the series so if you don’t read the first book you are not missing anything. Good characters and story that will keep you interested but it does read a little predictable.

I received an ARC of this book from NetGalley and I am voluntarily leaving an honest review.

I liked this one. This author was new to me, but you can't really go wrong with a sweet set-in-another-country romance between people who stumble upon each other so I gave it a go. It wasn't the greatest book, but there were plenty of witty comments and back-and-forth quips that it kept me entertained.

Mauricio was great, and a character you can easily fall for. Wren was okay; she had her moments, but was still sweet. To be honest, the winner of this whole story was Cecile because she was hilarious, so I was bummed we didn't get more of her.

It wasn't a truly memorable book, which is why I only gave it three stars, but it was enjoyable enough that I wanted to keep reading it. Because this book advertises itself as a "standalone," I was annoyed by the mentioning of a completely random character who both starts and ends the book, but we know nothing about. His POV was completely wasted on me, and to be honest, I skimmed it in the middle because I didn't see the point. Maybe if I had read some of Cardello's other books I'd know who he is? I don't know. It broke the book up, though, and definitely did not add to my enjoyment. I think it actually detracted.

All this to say, I liked this book, it was quick and easy, and I wouldn't mind picking up another from Ruth Cardello.

Another romantic adventure into the Corisi world with Author Ruth Cardello takes us to Paris where we get to take a tour through her character's eyes. Wren and Mauricio decide that a whirlwind affair is the way to go when two people from different worlds meet and the attraction is that strong, little do they know that the world isn't as big as they originally thought. A wonderful story that leaves you feeling like all is right with the world.

This book was supplied to me for free by NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. The Wild One becomes available to the general public on January 28, 2020.

The Wild One was my introduction to Ruth Cardello's body of work and, as such, was the first one I read in the series. I think this may have left me at a disadvantage as there were random chapters of the novel that focused on a completely different character. I found myself wondering if it was a character from the first book I missed in the series or was meant to be a set up for the third installment. As such, it was a bit distracting for me as it pulled me out of the story that I was supposed to be invested in.

Once I got past that, however, I was able to appreciate the story for what it was a fun, cute whirlwind of a romance. Mauricio and Wren were both fleshed out perfectly, and their backgrounds made an adorable couple. Usually, I wouldn't say I like insta-romances, but Cardello paced the story in such a unique way that we could feel the slowed state of time that the characters were experiencing.

The novel did get a bit predictable by the end, but I strangely enjoyed knowing that the story went in the direction I was hoping.

Overall, I found this novel to be a quick, fun and entertaining read. I can't wait to hear your thoughts after January 28!

Breathtaking Parisian fling turns into forever!

Wren and Mauricio meet at the home of a mutual friend in Paris, and to say that sparks fly instantly is like saying Paris is a nice little city. These two are quickly in way over their heads; Wren doesn't do casual relationships but just can't resist the chemistry with Mauricio, while he's never even considered anything but casual with anyone yet he finds himself calling his dad for advice on how to make this permanent. It's a beautiful, whirlwind romance that incorporates the city's landmarks every step of the way. I've read a lot of books set in Paris, but seeing it through Wren's eyes was a real treat.

The real crux of any relationship is how it fares after the initial start-up phase, and for Wren and Mauricio, who are both at a crossroads in their respective careers, finding their path forward is more complex than just admitting their feelings for each other. I really enjoyed the "cow" that Mauricio arranged; it was inventive, original, and absolutely perfect for the situation. Their HEA was melty-sweet and very satisfying.

As with the previous book, this one has a couple seemingly unconnected chapters related to Dominic Corisi's family history, but most of the story is the romance between Wren and Mauricio. There are a couple foreshadowing clues dropped throughout the book that alert readers will easily piece together, and I am really looking forward to reading more in this series to see how this storyline develops. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.

Ruthie – ☆☆☆☆
This is the second book in the series – I would definitely recommend that you read the books in order to get the full picture. There is an underlying 'mystery' which is being uncovered by Dominic... and no doubt we will get more in future installments. The hints are there, but actually, you could still very much enjoy the story and just put those elements on the side for now.

Wren makes a decision to take a chance and risk a short holiday romance whilst in Paris. Maurice is most definitely someone who can make it the very best type of risk. He is all about no strings, yet when she is the one who leaves, before he is ready, then the tables are turned on him, and he has to take the biggest risk of all. It was fun to see them enjoy the pleasures of Paris, even if tinged with the danger of emotions becoming involved in a brief affair. As we get to understand that somehow Cardello is going to make it all work out right, we just have to be patient. I am also looking forward to seeing how Dominic's discoveries affect the Corisi family.

M/F Romance

Mauricio is a playboy. There is really no other way to describe him. He likes women and while he doesn't promise them anything more than a good time, Mauricio also doesn't realize how it might feel if his heart was in a relationship.

Wren is off to Paris to visit her good friend and take a break from her life. She is used to helping everyone but herself. Her parents have leaned heavily on her and while they might want Wren to live her dream, it seems that they don't realize that she isn't doing so.

Wren is warned by her good friend about Mauricio and his reputation. But because attraction and lust don't always make sense, she and Mauricio agree to a no-strings-attached affair. When her time is up in Paris, they will go their separate ways.

Hearts and love are put to the ultimate test between these two people who don't believe in love or feel that they will ever find it. Watching these two fall for each other was sweet, but somewhat predictable. And while they might have started with no clear direction, they will each have an idea of what they might want from the other by the end of this book.

Parisian Chemistry!

The Wild One by Ruth Cardello is the second book in the Corisi Billionaire Series, but it’s the first one that I’ve read and I had no trouble jumping right in on this steamy stand-alone. We get some hints of the back story and the ongoing threads that connect the series – enough to understand what’s going on but not enough to be tedious if you’ve read other books – perfect!

This story is about a chance meeting-turned vacation fling-turned great love between Wren and Mauricio. I really loved Wren’s character. She’s loyal, smart, sassy and fun. She has made up her mind that she’ll go all out enjoying her week in Paris, and she sets about to do exactly that. She meets Mauricio along the way via a “friend of a friend” encounter, and they have instant chemistry on both sides. Seeing Paris through Wren’s eyes renews his enjoyment for the City of Love, and the two have an idyllic and amazing week together. When Wren has an emergency that forces her to leave unexpectedly, she’s so caught up in what’s going on at home that she doesn’t handle it well when she and Mauricio part. Thanks to family members who are determined to make this match happen, they eventually find their way to their HEA.

I was hooked from the start – no putting this book down! Ms. Cardello does an amazing job pulling the reader into her stories and painting incredibly vivid and detailed pictures. You’ll laugh, you’ll cry, your e-reader might smoke a little bit – this book has it all! I’m excited to meet some of the rest of Mauricio’s family as well, and am excited to return to Book 1 and check out Sebastian’s story.

Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher, I received an ARC of this book in exchange for my honest review. I can’t wait for the next book!

Ruth Cardello has an unique writing style. The Wild One reflects on that same style.
Dominic's backstory is added into this story, and it definitely was interesting.
There's definitely an insta-love story here, but it was done well. The chemisty was believable.

Good read.

I am so glad I found this author! I love her style, world building and the way Dominic Corisi's backstory is being woven in is so intriguing to me.

Mauricio was fun, sexy and charming. Wren is so smart and witty. Their banter is entertaining to watch. I'm not typically a fan of insta love but I didn't mind it as much here. I will say I adored the ending with the direction taken with Wren and Mauricio's future. Can't wait to see what happens next.

4.5 Stars for The Wild One book 2 in the Corisi Billionaires Series.
I enjoyed book 1 but Wren Heath and Mauricio Romano’s story took me to a whole different level and once I picked this book up there was no putting down, the characters intrigued me and I loved getting to know them. It was only meant to be a fling and they were meant to leave their feelings in Paris.....
Wren and Mauricio are both a little bit flawed but that adds to their charm and as you get to know the sometimes shy Wren I’m sure like me you will be thinking I would love a bestie like her and what can I say about the charming, swoon worthy bad boy who does everything in his power to woo his girl apart from I’m sure you will fall big time for him. This author really paints pictures with her words and the way she describes Paris has you feeling like you are part of this bad boy meets good girl romance. I loved the new characters we met and I loved catching up with a few friendly faces from the past and I really can’t wait to see where we go next with this great series.
