Prepare yourself for a roller coaster ride of a book, Mary Kubica has done it again!

Sadie and Will Foust and their kids have recently moved from the big bustling city of Chicago, to a sleepy coastal town in Maine, to a house that they have recently inherited.

To get to their new jobs, and also to the kids to school, they have to catch a ferry off of the island where they are living, they have also now have custody of Will's Niece Imogen, after his sister died unexpectedly, so there is plenty of stress around, as she is not the most welcoming person toward them all.

After only being there a few days, the family get a huge shock when one of their neighbours is murdered, and knowing that it must have happened in the night and that there isn't a ferry off of the island until early in the morning, Sadie is aware that the murderer is /was still on the island, which triggers her anxiety.
Especially when it seems that the police seem to have a ridiculous notion that she had something to do with the murder, even though she'd never even met that neighbour, and that they are new to the town.

Sadie and the rest of the family were really hoping to have a fresh start, and thought that this would be it, they really needed it.

While we are watching the Faust family come apart thread by thread, we also get 2 other characters thrown in to the loop, Camille, Sadie's former roommate and Mouse, a little girl who is being abused by her step mother.

How do they all fit together? And who the hell is the murderer?

Mary Kubica is the queen of twisty books, and this one was no different, it was creepy, very atmospheric, and I had no idea where it was going most of the time.

Grab this one as soon as you can and settle down for some serious page turning!

This is a great read but a tricky one to review as I don’t want to spoil it for you.
The story centres around Sadie and Will who have moved to a small town in Maine, to look after their niece whose mother committed suicide.
Sadie hopes the move will help rebuild her marriage as Will had been having an affair.
Just as they’re settling in, one of the neighbours is murdered. All this happens in the opening chapters and it then slows down a bit.
I can’t really mention much more about the storyline as it’s better to discover all the twists and turns for yourself.
It took me a while to get into but I did enjoy this book.
Thanks to HQ and NetGalley for the opportunity to read this book.

Sadie, a doctor, and her husband Will, a Professor, move from Chicago to a small town Maine to take care of Will's niece, whose mother has committed suicide. They are hoping to start afresh after Will has had an affair and their sons have been having problems. Soon after they arrive a neighbour is found dead in her home.

It took me a little while to get in to this book - whilst well written, and very atmospheric thanks to its chilling descriptions of the island and of the house they live in, I was happy to read it early on but didn't feel entirely committed. Told from multiple points of view by Sadie, Camille, who apparently had the affair with Will, and a young girl called Mouse, it initially felt a little confusing. You are left guessing how everything connects together and there are plenty of twists, The further I read the more I got drawn in - this book really picked up for me as it progressed and I was on the edge of my seat as more and more twists were thrown in as it reached its conclusion. A roller coaster of a ride and recommended for anyone who likes thrillers that truly keep you guessing

Thank you to Netgalley and HQ for an advance copy in exchange for an honest review.

This was the first book I've read from author, Mary Kubica, and I was not disappointed.

The Other Mrs is a wonderfully tense and unsettling part-domestic/psychological thriller and part-murder mystery. Set on a small island off the coast of Maine in the dead of winter, with the action taking place predominantly in a creepy old house, this is the perfect setting to ramp up the tension. The setting adds a sense of isolation and oppression.

The characters are an interesting and pretty unlikeable selection. Whilst outward appearances are that of a close knit family, we quickly learn that the family have arrived on the island each carrying their own emotional baggage. This move should be the new start that they need, however the reader will quickly become aware that within this dysfunctional family things aren't quite as they seem...

The story is told via three narrators - Sadie, Camille and a young girl called Mouse, which adds additional layers and intrigue to the story. I initially thought I knew how Mouse fitted into the tale, however the author provides a number of twists, turns and red-herrings that had me frequently double-guessing what I thought I knew.

It is hard to talk about this novel without giving away too much, however the story deals with some dark themes such as death, grief, mental illness and control. It looks at the devastating impact that secrets can have and considers how far loyalty can be stretched.

The book is chilling, dark and tense, full of intrigue, twists and misdirection. It grabbed my attention from the start and kept me hooked right up to the satisfyingly shocking conclusion. A creepy and entertaining read!

Huge thanks to the publisher for inviting me to be on the blog tour and for providing an advanced copy of the book for review.

I found this book very hard to get into. The pace was slow at the start and I didn’t gel with any of the characters. I unfortunately gave up on the book after about 25% as it just wasn’t holding my attention. Think I’ll leave the book for now and come back to it another time.

The Other Mrs is a 3.5⭐️ rounded up.
Sadie and Will move from Chicago to a small town in Maine, they have come to move in with their niece whose mother committed suicide and yes it was in that house that they move into! Sadie is glad of the move as she hopes to rebuild her and Wills lives back to normal as Will back in Chicago had been having an affair. The neighbours aren’t very welcoming, Sadie’s car has “die” written in the frost, next thing you know the neighbour has been murdered. All this happens in the opening chapters so I was hooked from the start. I’m not going to go into the storyline anymore as it is a very twisty read and feel your best coming in blind. The only negative I have is the ending was a bit confusing for me, wether I hadn’t picked up on what I should have done throughout the book I’ve no idea but it left me with a few unanswered questions.
I would like to thank Netgalley and HQ for this ARC I received in exchange for an honest review.

The Other Mrs by Mary Kubica is a thrilling contemporary psychological suspense that will have your heart racing as you speed towards the conclusion.
I found The Other Mrs to be a slow burner. I settled down for a comfortable read – and then the roller coaster of a read kicked in. Oh wow, oh wow, oh wow – what a ride – My pulse raced, my heartbeat rose as I read with heart in my mouth. Mary Kubica clearly has a great talent as an author as she manipulated my emotions this way and that.
The novel is written in the first person from several points of view. The reader becomes intimately involved and invested in lives. The various characters elicited different emotional responses from me. My favourite was six year old Mouse, although there were hard to read scenes of abuse. There is the theme of manipulation. Sometimes it is so subtle that it is difficult to recognise.
The Other Mrs is a brilliant read, extremely cleverly constructed. I cannot wait to read more by Mary Kubica if my heart rate can stand it!
I received this book for free. A favourable review was not required and all views expressed are my own.

When I first read the synopsis of this, I was really excited and looking forward to reading it. So when I started and didn't immediately get drawn in, I was slightly disappointed however, I did not write the book off instantly. 200 pages in and I was still not getting on with the book too well, I had a theory of the twists quite early on and I was not surprised to find that I was correct in my thinking.
The pace really did start to pick up and grip you at around the 250 page mark, this was when I started to actually enjoy the story and I then started feeling a connection to the characters. For me, I feel that a shorter build up was needed and in my opinion the book could have been around 150 pages shorter than it was.
This has not put me off of reading any of Mary Kubica's other work though and I will read The Good Girl at some point in the future. But, sadly this one just did not sit too well with me.

Domestic Noir With A Killer Twist....
Secrets, lies, deception and murder in this twisting thriller with a killer twist. Domestic noir it is with credible characters and an atmospheric setting. A pacy read.

I have followed this author for some time and I have never been disappointed.

Sadie a docor and Will Faust a lecturer move from Chicago with their 2 children to an inherited house Will inherits from his sister in Maine and his troubled niece Imogen lives with them.
A neighbour Morgan is murdered and as the story unfolds you learn that the family is dysfunctional. The police believe that Sadie may be involved in the murder when she is seemingly seen arguing with the victim.

You learn throughout the book that there had been issues with the children back in Chicago and Sadie herself had suffered with anxiety. Sadie continuously questions if her son, the victims husband or his former wife may be involved
It is difficult to say much more about this book without giving spoilers but I thought I had worked it and maybe I should have but it had a twist I did not see.

Highly recommend this book and other books by this author.

Thanks to the Author, Netgalley UK and the publishers HQ Press for allowing me to review th iui s book for a honest and unbiased review

an interesting story based on the tense dynamics of husband and wife. fans of Kubica are going to love this however may not be the thriller for everyone - recommend mostly for those interested in husband and wife dynamics.

Sadie her husband Will and their two boys Otto and Tate have moved from the big city to a tiny coastal town in Maine. Their move was through unfortunate circumstances with Will's sister Alice dying and leaving them guardian of her damaged teenage daughter Imogen. Will swears his affair is over so this could be the fresh start they need or it could be the start of a nightmare as one of their neighbours is murdered.

Camille is beautiful and head over heels in love with Will so much that she follows him from the City and stakes him and his family out.

I loved this book! It takes you on so many twists and turns I thought I had worked it out a couple of times only to be thrown a curve ball and taken down another route. There were a few OMG moments when the penny dropped on a few of the characters. Definitely one to read!!

Thank you to Netgalley and HQ for the ARC

When I came to the end of this book I had to go back and read the last few chapters again. I don't think I have ever been so stunned by a plot twist. From the very start I thought this was an intriguing story. I loved the way the author told most of the story from Sadie's point of view but then interspersed this with little glimpses into the lives of both Camille and Mouse. At different points in the narrative I thought I had worked out exactly what was going on but while some of my suspicions were correct the ending was a wonderful surprise. An absolutely outstanding read. I'd give it more than 5 stars if I could.

Not too sure about this book, it seemed to drag and took me a long time to read, normally I am a quick reader but it got very confusing.
Sadie, Will and their two, sons and dogs moved to a new house and took on the responsibility of looking after Wills niece Imogen whose house they were left after his sister died.
They wanted a new life after Will had an affair, and the boys were having problems.
Imogen made life very difficult for them, and then they found out there was a murder in the house nearby,
Sorry this book was not for me, the story was interesting it just got very complicated
Can only give three stars .

For once I wasn’t racing home from work so I could get comfortable and spend hours getting lost in a Mary Kubica book!
The setting was great (who doesn’t love a creepy old house in an equally creepy neighbourhood on an island with only one way out?!) but the plot was overly complex at times yet predictable, it didn’t feel like I was reading one of Mary’s books. I really wanted to love it and I’m hoping it’s just a one off for me.

I guessed this book very early on and that meant that I left it feeling quite flat and not at all satisfied. Maybe that's on me rather than the author but there it is. This coupled with the fact that the author's previous book didn't hit the spot for me either probably means that our time together is over. Sad really cos the first two of her books were really great for me. Never say never though...
Will and Sadie Foust have recently upped sticks and moved their family from big city Chicago to a small-town, isolated Maine island, the reason being clear as you read the book. Not long after they are settled in, their neighbour is found dead in her home. It shocks the island in general and the Fousts specifically as the finger of suspicion starts to point their way. For reasons I can't divulge here in case of spoilers. As more of their past comes to light, certain things start to both add up and get more confusing (depending on whether you guess the main twist early or not) and things start to spiral...
This is one of those books, for me anyway, where the quality of everything you want from a book pales in favour of relying on the twist. Characters didn't grab me, the story was (without the twist) quite weak and I really only carried on in the hope that I was either wrong, or that there would be at least one more surprise in store for me. Sadly there wasn't and, as already mentioned, the whole things left me feeling quite flat and unsatisfied at the end. There's suspending belief and, well, sorry, I just couldn't... Judging from the rest of the reviews however, some may be better placed to enjoy this book. Just wasn't the book for me.
My thanks go to the Publisher and Netgalley for the chance to read this book.

Really enjoyed this book thank you. Vibrant, believable, characters and an absorbing plot. I will ensure I look out for this author in the future!

Omg this book was not good...

This book was a bit all over the place. You are thrown a lot of information all at once, it's quite overwhelming as a reader. There is a lot to digest in quite a short space of time. I think the book would have been better if it was spread out throughout the whole book instead of being info dumpy at the start

I struggled with the pace of this book, it felt off. There were parts where there was a lot happening and parts where not much happened and I was a bit bored.

One of the main problems I had with this book was the portrayal of mental illness. I personally think it was quite stigmatising and it didn't sit right with me

The problem was that it was towards the end, so I can't really say too much without giving spoilers but personally, if you like the trope of people not being believed because of having a mental illness, you won't like this book

The ending was a let down, as I thought it was kind of predictable in a sense. Which was a shame.

This is my second Mary Kubica book and I've disliked the endings of both a lot. I'm not sure if her books are for me...

Overall, I unfortunately didn't enjoy this book. I thought it was very stigmatising towards mental illness and wasn't particularly well written either.

This story is about Sadie. She is a doctor who has moved to the island of Maine with her husband Will and two sons for a fresh start after Will’s infidelity. They move in to a house they inherited after Will’s sister committed suicide leaving a teenage daughter who is not happy with the arrangement. Not long after they move in one of their neighbours gets murdered and Sadie is determined to find out who did it.

This book is told in 3 POV with a fourth coming in at the end. Psychological thrillers are my favourite genre to read and after reading so many you want one that is going to surprise you and keep on guessing. This one really didn’t do any of those things. What the author did with this story has been done multiple times before I figured it out early on and I was just waiting for the reveal at the end. I actually found the story really slow and if I hadn’t been reading this for review I would have put it down and never picked it up again.
