Between the bakery she owns and helping her mother through a difficult time Chrissie doesn’t have the time or energy for relationship or love. Her last relationship ended because she couldn’t give enough attention to the man she was seeing so when Gus wants to spend time with her the only answer she can think of is no.
Gus is sexy, single and successful. From their first meeting Gus is intrigued by Chrissie as they meet in the last place that he expected but when he sees her again all he knows is that he wants more. When his attempt to have her contact him is unsuccessful he goes with the personal touch and from that moment on there is no denying that they belong together.
These two couldn’t have been more perfect for each other. They both have very demanding careers with very different schedules but they are determined to make it work and that is what makes their relationship so special.

Baiting Him is the second book in this series but it is a complete standalone. I loved the story, especially because it was refreshing to not have a bunch of drama between the characters to muddle the love story. Gaston was the perfect amount of Alpha while still being loving and supportive of Chrissie. However, the danger and rescue promised by the author in the blurb was non existent so I can see why some feel it lacked the fire we saw in the series' first book. Overall, great read, four chilli peppers of hotness!
I received a free ARC from the publisher in exchange for my honest opinion. All thoughts are my own.

From New York Times bestselling author Aurora Rose Reynolds comes the second book in the steamy, witty, and hilarious How to Catch an Alpha series.
Chrissie doesn’t have time for guys, hot or otherwise; most days, she barely has time to sleep. With a thriving bakery that demands her attention and plenty of proof that relationships aren’t worth the trouble, she’s content to go it alone. Too bad she’s unwittingly baited Mr. Tall, Dark, and Way Too Gorgeous—and he’s just waiting for a chance to bite.
Gaston is used to getting what he wants, but he also knows nothing good ever comes easy. From the moment he meets Chrissie, he realizes that this woman who makes him laugh, smells like cupcakes, and looks like a tasty snack is going to be his greatest challenge. And if he’s lucky, she’ll be his biggest reward.
But someone else wants to catch Gaston at all costs—even if it means endangering the lives of the people he loves. Somehow Gaston must thwart danger and convince Chrissie that he’s the perfect catch.

This is the 2nd book in this series and I loved it. Aurora is my favorite author. Hands down! She is magic with words, and I always love everything she writes, Baiting Him is no different. Baiting Him is the story of Gaston and Chrissie and man this two are explosive together. Talk about some hot scenes! Wow! I loved this book, and I am definitely impatiently waiting for the next one.

Baiting Him is the second book in the How To Catch an Alpha series by Aurora Rose Reynolds. This book can be read as a stand alone, but I personally always love to read a series in order to get the full back story of all the characters. Baiting Him is a well written story. The characters compliment each other to make this a very easy and enjoyable read. If you like a good romance with some humor thrown in, this is the book for you.

I couldn't put this book down. I was hooked and desperate to know what happened next. I can honestly say that I enjoyed reading this book immensely. It was so addictive. The storyline was brilliant and it pulled me in and kept me there throughout the whole story. I loved the humour and the characters were amazing. I loved it. A very easy and enjoyable read. 5 well deserved stars.

This is the second book in the How to Catch an Alpha series. While this is written in ARR’s usual style, which I enjoy, I just didn’t like this one as much as the first. I didn’t feel the chemistry between the MC’s and the alphaness (look at me just making up words) was turned way down. The H gives the h his phone number but she doesn’t call him for days and he doesn’t like that at all but he doesn’t pull the alpha out and just actively pursue her. I thought the story dragged as there was hardly any angst to hook me.

Well... Aurora has done it again!! This is book 2 in the How to catch a Alpha series.. I sooooo Loved Gaston and Chrissie - they were absolute perfection!
We got to meet Chrissie in Catching Him.. She is Leah’s best friend. She is sweet, funny, and loyal. She is the owner of The Sweet Spot bakery. One night while going out for Leah's bachelorette party - Chrissie meets the hottest of hot men around.. in the most unpredictable spots around.. little did she know he was the owner of the night club she was at..
“Did you just say your name is Gaston?” “Yeah” “Oh my God,” I whisper, horrified. “You’re like the worst villain ever.”
Gaston (Gus) is the owner of several bars and nightclubs.. and when he meets Chrissie somewhere she should not be.. he knows he needs to have her.. and when he sees her at the bar getting a drink.. he needs to talk to her.. but when she turns him down and tells him to leave her alone.. Well now he is more degermed then ever to get to know her.
“I don’t care if you don’t need to be taken care of because you’re an independent woman. I’m going to take care of you anyway, in all the ways I can.”
This book is amazing.. I love this series.. (well I love all ARR's books) and I can not wait for more.

Gaston is swoony and will sweep readers away. Chrissie and Gaston's story gives all the feels! Gaston is immediately drawn to Chrissie and she really likes him but has issues in her past affecting how she feels.
There is never a doubt that Gaston is real and he makes Chrissie really realize this. What a fun story! They have amazing chemistry and Gaston is the guy to let Chrissie know how great she really is!
They work with though their issues with good communication and find a way to happily ever after.
All the characters were great in this book! I loved how they all really cared!

I finished this book in one sitting and I didn’t want it to end! It was so good! I loved Gaston and Chrissie. Aurora always gets me hooked on her stories that are easy reads; it’s why she remains an automatic one-click author for me. Can’t wait for her next book!

I am absolutely loving this new series by Aurora Rose Reynolds! These stories are so well written with a bit of mystery and a ton of chemistry between characters!

After reading Catching Him, the first book in Aurora Rose Reynolds' 'How to Catch an Alpha' series, I couldn't wait for another story! ARR has a way of writing books that have women who are strong, and me that are protective. Baiting Him certainly falls into that category, as well.
Chrissie is a busy, hard-working owner of a bakery. She loves her job, her friends, and her family. She's perfectly happy with how her life is going. Until she is out for a bachelorette party, and encounters Gaston, a club-owner. But Chrissie isn't interested, especially knowing just how hot Gaston is. But he is dogged in his pursuit of Chrissie.
I loved both of these characters! I loved how strong Chrissie was, but yet recognized that she was able to lean on others. I loved how Gaston fell hard- and fast- for Chrissie, and knew what he wanted without playing any games.
I so look forward to more in the How to Catch an Alpha series!

Baiting Him is good combination of steam and heart. I really liked the romance of Chrissie and Gaston. Gaston is the perfect book boyfriend. Pick this book when you want a feel good story without the angst. Some romance readers will not like the trope at the end. It was not concern for me. Thanks Montlake Romance and NetGalley for the ARC of this title.

Baiting Him is book two in the How to Catch an Alpha series by Aurora Rose Reynolds. This can be read as a stand alone. I haven’t read the first book in the series but loved this so much that I might have to go back and read it. This is an insta-love romance with a hero that made me swoon so much it’s a miracle I didn’t just melt. He checked off every one of my perfect hero boxes.
Gaston “Gus” is the owner of three successful bars. He’s used to women coming on to him in his bars. He’s good at deflecting their advances. What he isn’t used to is seeing a woman that captures his attention like no other woman ever has, a woman that stirs something inside him he didn’t know was there. And having her tell him to leave her alone!
Chrissie is a thirty three year old woman living her dream of owning her own bakery, The Sweet Spot. She works long hours seven days a week so she has little time for anything but work. But it’s her best friend’s bachelorette party. So it’s a rare night out for her. Then she saw him. When he spoke, his voice wrapped around her like honey. He was gorgeous, much too gorgeous for her. She’s seen men like this before, men who only want you for one night and throw you away afterwards. No thanks.
Gus isn’t taking no for an answer. He’ll give her a little time to come around, but then he’s going after her. There was something there, something he needs to find out what it means.
So begins Gus and Chrissie. Gus was just everything. All swoony and over-protective and just amazing. Both have such busy lives and trying to fit in a new relationship isn’t easy. But they somehow make it work. There is some family drama on Chrssie’s end and she is an easy crier so that sort of annoyed me a little bit. But not enough to take away from the amazing connection these two had. She made Gus laugh. I loved who he was with her.
“I feel the possessive brand of his mouth on mine and his hold, like he’s staking his claim, telling me without words I belong to him.”
This was just a feel good, swoony, steamy book that made me so happy. I want a “Gus” in all of my books. Seriously, I think I had butterflies most of the way through. I’ve read a few of this author’s books, but not many. I definitely need to go through her book list and see what I’ve been missing. Because if there are more “Gus’s” there, then I need to meet them.

This was a sweet, sexy story and I enjoyed it, but it lacked any real drama. 3.5 Stars.
Chrissie is a fairly happy, successful woman. She owns her own bakery, and it's been doing very well. Mostly because it is her whole life. She works constantly and has no time for anything else. Especially not a sexy man who might not mean what he says. But when she meets Gus when she's out for her best friend's bachelorette party, she's not sure if she can take him at his word. Or if she even wants to.
Gaston, aka Gus, owns his own club and 2 other bars. He mostly stays away from girls he meets there, and especially from his employees. But when he sees Chrissie at his club, and speaks to her, he's hooked. But she's not sold. He has to convince her, which is exciting for him, and he pursues her ardently.
Chrissie and Gus had electric chemistry, but she was trying to be cautious, while he was full steam ahead. They both had very different family situations growing up, and that definitely colored how they handled the rest of their lives. They were both very close to their moms, which I thought was awesome, and I loved seeing those connections. I also loved seeing Chrissie's best friend, Leah, and her husband Tyler (the couple from book 1) and how happy and awesome they were. It's always fun to see past couples living out their HEA.
Overall Gus was a swoonworthy hero, and Chrissie was a strong, fun heroine, and I loved their connection. They really fit each other, and that was clear. But, the small bit of drama in this story was a lot of tell instead of show. I would've liked to see that part of the plot fleshed out a little. In the end, it didn't seem very important, since it was over so quickly, and basically could've just been skipped altogether. So, there really wasn't a lot of drama at all, which is fine. I'm good with smooth sailing between the hero and heroine, especially in a novella. But, in a longer story, I expect some sort of issue that comes between the couple, and a black moment they have to get through before they can be happy together. Don't get me wrong, I'm by NO MEANS an angst queen. In fact too much angst gives me hives, and its not my jam. But, the stakes just didn't feel high here at all without any outside drama going on.
Overall I still liked the story, and I really loved the characters. I look forward to the final book in this series.

This book we sexy hot but not in an erotic and uncomfortable way. The chemistry between these characters is off the chart and feels completely natural. Through the entire story, I felt the heat between Gaston and Chrissie rather than feeling like I'm being told there is heat, which is the case in many romance novels. These two feel naturally made for each other and it is an easy read where you feel like you are witnessing two friends falling in love.

Gaston and Chrissie literally run into each other in the men's room. She doesn't realize that it's his club, but soon finds out. He is immediately intrigued by her and wants to know more. Chrissie is standoffish and wants to remain in her self-imposed bubble. She is content to own her bakery and not have much else going on in her life. Gaston moves to change that and goes about it quite effectively. I liked how he went for it and didn't hold back. Chrissie did allow her mom to shape her life at points in the story. I was pleased to see Chrissie deciding to be happy. Her relationship with her father was not too great and I felt she could have also reached out to him. He was her father, but she could have also found out how he was and why he left. I did like how Gaston knew it would fester if she didn't confront her father. The story was really well told and was a quick, easy read. Their love story did come off as believable and not too far-fetched. I wound up reading this pretty much in one sitting.
If you liked the other books in this series, you are going to like this one.
I received an ARC from NetGalley for my honest review.

Chrissie is the friend of our heroine from the first book and while I was looking forward to her book, it fell short for me. It was very insta and it didn't feel like I ever got to know the characters or at least connect with them. I would recommend if you're looking for a quick, simple read to pass a few hours. Aurora Rose Reynolds sure can write a hot scene though.

Baiting Him is the second volume in the How to Catch an Alpha series by Aurora Rose Reynolds. I’ve read the first volume, Catching Him, without reviewing it. I already knew the author because I read her title Falling Fast in 2017 and I loved her style, her characters and the evolution of the feelings.
Aurora Rose Reynolds writes the kind of story I like: a simple love story where the heroes meet, fall in love, must trust each other, and have a beautiful HEA. Her characters are really likeable, the heroes as their circle in which most will have their own story later. Generally, once we begin her book, we have trouble putting it down. What’s more, in her different series, we have a glimpse of the previous couples’ happiness.
Baiting Him is no exception. The series features different heroes with each volume, and you can read them in the order or begin with this book. The story features Gaston “Gus” and Chrissie.
Chrissie is the best friend of Leah, the heroine in the previous volume.
Gaston’s name gave my daughter and me a fit of giggles. Little bending compared to my usual reviews here with a personal anecdote: one of my daughter’s mates is named Gaston, and he’s the first boy she’s met with this name. She pointed out to him that he has the same name as the bad guy in the Disney’s version of Beauty and the Beast, and he said it was the first time someone told him that. So when I read the hero’s name, not only did I think of her but what’s more in the novel it’s THE reference for the heroine and her mother. Hence an excellent moment.
Gus and Chrissie meet during Leah’s bachelorette party which takes place in a bar where Gus is the boss. Our heroes meet near the toilets and there’s a quite a funny scene about it.
The attraction is immediate between them, but the heroine doesn’t trust good-looking guys so she doesn’t follow up. But our hero is determined to have a chance with her so he makes the first move.
From then we have a plausible evolution of their relationship with the benevolent intervention of the people around our heroes. At no moment do we doubt the feelings they have one for the other, and that’s what I really like with this author.
The book has a little suspense side which is solved in the end and we suspect the whys and the wherefores quite fast.
I highly recommend this book.

Baiting Him is book #2 in the How to Catch an Alpha series. Aurora Rose Reynolds (ARR) brings us a fresh, fun and sexy story filled with alpha males, strong independent females and lots of romance! Tyler and Leah stole my heart in Catching Him, but look out! Because Gaston – yes, I said Gaston- and Chrissie have taken over!
Chrissie was introduced in Catching Him as Leah’s best friend. She is sweet, quirky, and caring. She owns “The Sweet Spot” bakery. Chrissie meets nightclub owner Gaston (Gus) at Leah’s bachelorette party. What ensues is sweet, fun, sexy and romantic! Filled with insta-lust and insta-love! Baiting Him is ARR at her finest!
“Did you just say your name is Gaston?”
“Yeah”
“Oh my God,” I whisper, horrified. “You’re like the worst villain ever.”
Gaston is the perfect alpha! Charming, considerate and smoking hot! His tenderness and love for Chrissie is swoony and romantic! Of course there is a bit of drama, but nothing over the top. The story flows and filled my heart with warmth. A great pick me up when you want to sit and get lost in a book!
“No one looks like Gaston. No one cooks like Gaston. No one refuses to read a book like Gaston,” I sing.”
