I really enjoyed this book! It was a more unusual thriller that resolved excellently, and by that I partially mean that it wasn't a neat, tied up ending and all the better for it.
The author really got you involved in the story and the characters.

Omg that was one breath taking book, that had hold of me from the second I started it until I finished it barely letting me pause for breathe. It is addictive and kept me guessing throughout.

I kept trying to predict or second guess the outcome but I just couldn't wouldn't have come up with how it turned out, in a million years.

Two years ago Lori's flight never arrived at its destination. Her sister Erin was meant to be on the flight, but didn't take it. Two years later Erin is still trying to discover the truth, and without any idea where the plane came down, no bodies she can't get any closure. She is dogged in her pursuit of trying to find out just what happened.

I can't work out though how to say anything else without potentially giving away spoilers. It keeps you guessing continually and wanting to know various secrets including just why weren't' both sisters on the plane they were booked on, and that's just for starters.

The book is split into past and present sections, and there are harrowing descriptions of what happened with the plane, the aftermath. Everything described so vividly that I felt as though I was there, and may end up dreaming about it tonight as a result.

It's a story of survival, or not knowing what you are capable of until you are in that situation, of a wonderfully exotic backdrop, and a quest for the truth. And throughout the one thing you will feel is just how strong the bond between the sisters is, and just how much love they have for each other.

This is an author who every time amazes me even more, this is her best book easily (and the rest are all fabulous too). It was very hard to tear myself away from the story for things like sleeping and working, and even then my mind was on the story.

Just amazing, if you love a twisty story with a backdrop that is far removed from everyday life, then this is definitely worth reading.

Thank you to Harper and Netgalley for this copy which I have reviewed honestly and voluntarily.,

Sisters Lori and Erin have booked a holiday in Fiji. The night before they fly out they have an argument and Erin goes off on her own. The next day Lori goes on holiday without her because Erin did not meet her at the airport.
When the the plane her sister was travelling on disappears without trace, nothing will stop Erin finding out what happened to her sister.
A slow moving story with some twists and turns.
Thank you to NetGalley and HarperCollins UK for my e-copy in exchange for an honest review.

I loved this book! If you liked the TV show Lost, this is up your street, and throw in a mystery twist, perfect!! I want to thank the publishers for getting an advanced copy of this book. So the story is told by the two sisters, one in the present, one in the past. Then throw in a plane crash on a deserted island and the result is a fantastic read! Amazing!

The core of this book is about sisters and the connection sisters have. Lori is castaway and Erin searches for the truth about her sister. Full of twists and turns. A really good read. Thank you to Netgalley and the publishers for letting me review this book.

Another great read from Lucy Clarke, and in my opinion, her best yet! This is a gripping, and extremely well put together novel.

Erin and Lori are sisters who travelled on holiday to Fiji together, with the intention of visiting a luxury destination on a small island. The night prior to departure they have an argument which results in hot-headed Erin taking off, and not making the flight the next day. As it happens Lori, doesn’t reach her destination either…

Fast forward 2 years and we are taken on the second timeline, told entirely through Erin’s narrative, as she tries to discover exactly what happened to her sister 2 years previously.

Im really in awe of how well the 2 timelines converged. This book started of well, and went from strength to strength as the novel progressed. I will be 100% recommending this book to anyone looking for a book to completely and utterly get lost in in 2021!

My thanks to NetGalley, author and publisher for the opportunity to review this book in exchange for an honest review.

How much fun did I have with this!!
Jeepers though - if you are a nervous flyer you might want to skip the first few chapters or have someone read a summary as when the plane hits turbulence and runs into trouble, you are going to need a sick bag, it's that realistic.

Stay with it though as it's a corker of a thriller. What happens to the plane and why? Will the sister of someone on board before it crashed find the answers and will she want to? Oh this was just gripping and I had to read it in one go, fuelled with christmas leftovers.

Really enjoyed this and would recommend it!

I really enjoyed this book and was actually sad when it ended. I would have loved to have learnt more about each character, and to see where some of them went! I was gripped and read this book in two days. I’ve been struggling to focus this year with everything going on, so that’s really saying something! Thank you for the little reality break, I needed it.

A wonderfully constructed, riveting storyline. Once again this hugely talented author has produced a high quality, crowd pleasing psychological thriller. Sure to be a massive success.

Love! Love! Love! Huge love for this book. It had me completely gripped! It is an absolute page-turner!
I loved both the narratives and how each sister dealt with her emotions. The ending was unpredictable and worth the rollercoaster of emotions that I experienced throughout. I smiled, cried and gasped at all the right moments. I have not read a book like this in ages. It is my first book by Lucy Clarke so I’ve now downloaded others to see how they compare. But it’s safe to say that I am definitely a big fan!

I love every single book by this author and I was eagerly awaiting this newest one so was delighted to be approved to read it. It took me a little by surprise at first as it has a different feel than previous books, I enjoyed learning about the relationship between the sisters and found myself intrigued by this.
I couldn't call what was going to happen with this story and without giving anything away the ending was a pleasant surprise! Another brilliant book!

Loved it!! Read it in one setting and couldn't stop. It isn't what I expected when I started it, it was better! Anyone that likes a good whodunnit and closed room mystery will enjoy this!

This is my first Lucy Clarke read but it won't be my last because I really enjoyed this. It is definitely up there in my top 10 maybe even top 5 books of 2020.

It is a definite page turner and full of small little twists along the way that mostly I didn't see coming. Also it is rare for a book to make me cry but Lori's grief when (i won't say the name so as not to spoil it) dies really broke my heart but also the ending which also made me emotional. I think because I was totally invested in the two sisters as a unit but as individuals.

Just a really excellent story, interesting flawed characters, that felt believable and relatable even if what happened them was very out of the ordinary. But the plot is tight and I really couldn't find any flaws in it hence finding it believable.

What a fantastic gripping story. Everytime I thought I knew where the story was heading I was wrong. The two handed storytelling of past and present from two sisters kept me guessing to the end. I thoroughly recommend this book. It is unique. You have to read it to find out why.

Another Lucy Clarke winner for me. I loved this book. It wasn't quite what I expected from the back of the book 'blurb' - it was even better! A great suspense book which actually has some suspense in it and a few twists and turns which I didn't manage to predict. A proper page-turner.

I have read all of Lucy Clarke’s novels and do not hide the fact that I am a huge fan. This is probably the best novel so far. I thoroughly enjoyed it and couldn’t put it down.

The story is about two sisters: Erin and Lori. They go on holiday together, destined for a small island near Fiji. They have an argument the night before they are due to fly to the small Island and Erin, the youngest, doesn’t turn up at the airport so Lori gets on the flight without her. It crashes and two years later Erin is still searching for her sister. All passengers and crew are assumed to have died as the plane was never found.

Erin is a journalist and when the pilot turns up in Fiji, some two years later she persuades her boss to let her go out to meet him and find out the truth. Nothing is as it seems though and Erin knows a lot more than she should.

The story is told by the two sisters: Erin is narrating in the present and Lori’s story is told from the past with her being at the airport and what happens as the journey progresses.

Many thanks to NetGalley, HarperCollins UK and Lucy Clarke for my ARC of The Castaways in return for my honest review.

Brilliant beginning and ending. Enjoy! Highly recommended.

Two sisters set out for a holiday unlike any other. They hope for time away from their lives back home, rest and relaxation and some all-important sisterly bonding time. But don’t quite go according to plan. The story jumps between each sister, Erin and Lori, from the present to the time of the holiday as readers put together the pieces to figure out what happened and how the holiday of a lifetime was nothing short of a nightmare. The location may be desirable, and something out of a film set, but the reality is far from ideal. It’s hard to review without giving away spoilers, which I won’t do, but suffice to say it will keep your attention throughout.

Thanks Netgalley and the Publisher. I have liked everything this author has written and this was no exception. Great storyline, great characters. A thoroughly enjoyable read.

I enjoyed this thriller. It wasn’t quite what I expected. It’s about two sisters, Lori and Erin, who are very close, and what happens after Lori is lost in a plane crash. Erin travels to Fiji to find out the truth. There are some excellent twists that I didn’t anticipate but I don’t want to give anything away. The pace got faster and faster in the second half and by the end I was flying through the pages! It’s a pacy, surprising and original read and I recommend it.
