Basically a sitcom about a pirate family. This gets into some strange territory when the dad pirate rescues some slaves from a shipwrecked ship. Then the people are stolen and sold into slavery. Eventually the slaves are freed but it does get weird for a comedy comic about pirates to have enslaved people in it.

'Pirate Family 1. The Wreckers' by Aude Picault and Fabrice Parme is a graphic novel about a family down on its luck that figures out how to help those less fortunate.

Victor MacLimpet's pirate ship, The Marrowbone, has been impounded. That means his family can't go pirating. In order to keep the family fed, Victor has to resort to wrecking, or shipwrecking boats. When he does, he finds a curious surprise: a cargo hold full of slaves. Victor's family sets out to give them a new life.

I like the story and the point it makes. The MacLimpet's are a likeable set of characters, and the cartoon art lends to the fun of the story.

I received a review copy of this graphic novel from Europe Comics and NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. Thank you for allowing me to review this graphic novel.

The brashest of children's pirate larks, drawn with a style that makes Captain Pugwash worthy of the National Gallery, and written with all the subtlety of being slapped about the face by someone with a kipper labelled "here be slavery – it be bad" written all over it.

I was lucky to receive The Pirate Family Volume 1 The Wreckers via Netgalley which is a children's graphic novel by Script by Aude Picault and Fabrice Parme / Art by Fabrice Parme. It tells the story of Captain Maclimpet who has lost his ship and needs to pay his way and keep his family. So what does he do goes and wrecks another ship for some booty but it is the wrong kind. I found the story entertaining but I think the artwork outshone so for this reason I am giving it 3 stars

This is a cute graphic novel that tells the story of a pirate family. When the father’s ship is impounded due to debts, he decides to run another ship aground and capture it’s loot. But when the treasure inside turns out to be enslaved people, what is the right thing to do? This was a fun book to read and will teach readers about equality.

Pirate Family Script by Fabrice Parme - Script, Art and Aude Picault -Art by Fabrice Parme was very colourful comic. My nephew Loved me reading the comic to him. However, sadly it did not want me to purchase it for him.
But we had a joyful conversation story over the comic pictures.

Thank you to Netgalley for a his e-book/comic ARC to read and review.
