I loved this book. Trouble is book 3 in the Dogwood Lane Series by Adriana Locke. Trouble was amazing!! Penn's story was everything I had hoped it would be and more, he's my new favorite but that's just between you and me (Don't tell Lincoln)! Penn is the charmer everyone knows it, full of one liners, cheeky innuendos and trouble (in a good way) with a capital T. But he has met his match with Avery who is the only person he has never managed to charm first time around or did he?! As always loved catching up with the rest of the Dogwood Lane residents |
The only problem with Trouble was that it ended. I could have kept reading about this couple for hours or days. This book was charming and fun. The sexual tension between Penn and Avery was AMAZING. After a few chapters, I was addicted to them. Their romance captured my heart and I loved being back with the characters in the Dogwood Lane series. |
Penn and Avery are two small town people that can't stay away from each other. Avery knows that Penn has a bad boy reputation. She can't stop her attraction to him. Penn is such a playboy but there is more to him that no one sees except Avery. Will the couple be able to move on from the past to have a future together? A fun, small town romantic read. I received a copy of this book via Netgalley. |
Such a great book that sucks you in right from the beginning. How would you feel when you get hit on by a hot guy, only he doesn't remember your past "interaction". Read this book and enjoy the ride! |
This was okay. It was a standard satisfactory small-town romance. I enjoyed the chemistry between the two characters and the small-town vibes. However, I did not enjoy how the conflict was approached in this book or how the characters behaved at certain parts of the book. It sometimes came across as corny and a little juvenile. |

This one was good. I liked the characters and how they had met before but I didn't like that he couldn't remember. But I did like that the heroine called him out on it. |
Penn’s sarcasm and innuendos were just as funny as I knew they’d be. I thought Avery was such a sweet character with a lot of maturity and heart. This book was a pretty easy and breezy read with a ton of small town charm. The characters were fun and light hearted. There were a few deep, emotional moments shared between the hero and heroine that really worked for the story. Especially the smack upside the back of Penn’s head at the end. Penn was certainly more than meets the eye, but only someone like Avery was lucky enough to see it. I liked the way the characters navigated their feelings and learned a lot about themselves along the way. The ending was cute and a satisfying HEA. |
I received this free eARC novel from NetGalley. This is my honest review. This was so sweet!! I seriously love Penn. He's seen as a player (for obvious reasons) but when he's with Avery, he wants to be better, to be someone else, but he is sooo confused and he makes mistakes and he's human. Just pure human who is learning it step by step. He stumbles over mistakes he makes and his words and he legit is bewildered about Avery's reactions sometimes, which just makes him look like the sweetest, most adorable man I've read about in a really long time. Avery is so patient and understanding when it comes to Penn. Though at a certain point she does have to be a little more upfront and harsher with her decisions to make her point across, but she legit understands where he is coming from. With both of them having similar pasts, these two are definitely meant for each other and are there to help one another. I also love how Avery was able to start painting again and see out a dream of hers come true without the influence of her parents' judgement. I'm so glad I finally read this book and I am so glad I loved it so much! I'll have to see about looking for the other books by this author :) |
Trouble is an adorable romcom about a forever bachelor and a women ready to be put first in life. They obviously have amazing chemistry and have great banter through out the story. Trouble is a really great, easy to read, light read. While it touches some junky parts about their lives, they don’t have super emotionally draining back stories. |

A well written, lighthearted read. Good well rounded characters, and a story that was engaging. Maybe a little forgettable though. Not one for my all time favourite books list, but one I would happily read again. Thanks. |
This book was a quick and light read. Was it the best romance novel of all time? No. But did it strike some good feels? Sure did! I didn't realize this was the third book in the series, and yet I didn't feel like I was missing anything, so this could definitely be read as a stand alone. I loved that small town feel where everyone knows each other and the whole community aspect of it. I thought it was weird how Avery was sharing intimate details with her aunt. I guess maybe I never had that relationship with my aunts. I also thought Penn's thought process was a bit juvenile. I mean who in their late 20's talks in all sexual innuendos. I mean one or two here or there yes, but almost excessively for the first half of the book, was a bit of a stretch and made me not like him that much. Thankfully that changed as the novel progressed! |
It was okay. Nothing against the author, I hear some people enjoy her other books. But I just couldn't bring myself to get into this one enough to even finish it. I wasn't a huge fan of Penns anyway, honestly. |

I've been eagerly waiting for Penn's story. He is a tough nut to crack! I love that under that tough exterior is truly a marshmallow that only Avery can bring out. Both Penn and Avery drew the short stick with parents, but they are so perfect for each other! I loved returning to the small town of Dogwood Lane and catching up with previous couples. Watching Avery and Penn let their walls down and let each other in was heartwarming. A great read in the series! |
I like this author a whole lot. Her books are funny, lighthearted and normally really sweet. This one was no exception. |

I didn’t realize when I picked this book that is was book 3 in a series. I hadn’t read the other ones, so maybe this is why I felt so disconnected. I really wanted to love this book. |
I usually really enjoy book by Adriana Locke, but I just couldn’t get into this book. I almost felt like I was reading a different author. I got about 45% of the way through and gave up. Although I didn’t connect to this particular book, I will definitely read another book by this author since I’ve loved her other books. |
***3.5 ‘Team Avery’ Stars*** This one has me in a bit of a conundrum. Because I loved being back in Dogwood Lane with all the unique characters ~ Lorene is AMAZING ~ and, for the most part I enjoyed the ride that Avery and Penn took me on, but I was also kind of turned off by it. I know it doesn’t really make sense, hence “conundrum”, but that’s where my head is with this one. I enjoyed it...but… Anyways, Avery and Penn. I FLOVED Avery. I loved her sass, her heart and simply how she owned all that she was. She knew what would make her happy and went for it. Penn, is my ‘conundrum’ He’s a sweet, charming man who at times is a bit too cheesy when he’s laying on the charm, but still a good man...but. Yeah, I know the “but. But he is so wrapped up in how worthless he believes himself to be that he is all about self-sabotaging. I got why. I could empathize to a point, but man it got to a point where I wanted to reach through the Kindle and Gibbs smack him. I still loved the guy, but boy did he try me. As for their journey to their HEA, I did enjoy it. Avery and Penn had a ton of chemistry and it jumped off the page. I gave Avery a ton of credit for rolling with the punches when it came to Penn, but more so for sticking to her guns and knowing her worth. I could have personally done with a little more grovelling after the big sinkhole happened, but in the end I was happy for them both. Despite my issues, this was a fun read overall. I loved getting to spend some time with the Dogwood Lane crew and catching up with them, Lorene is amazing and I loved Harper. Meredith was a still a trip, but a good one and I really liked Jake but I’m totally looking forward to seeing what woman will capture Matt’s heart because he totally rocked in this baby and needs some good lovin’ in his life. ~ Copy provided by the publisher via NetGalley & voluntarily reviewed ~ |

With his shameless grin and let’s-play swagger, carpenter Penn Etling leaves women wanting in Dogwood Lane. What do they get? Avery Perry knows: a one-night stand. She’s been there. She remembers every hot pulse as if it were yesterday. But Penn? He doesn’t remember a thing. Now he’s making new moves, and Avery’s not falling for trouble…again. Is she? How could the beautiful stranger resist him? Avery is going to be a challenge for the bad boy. She’s the kind of woman who digs deep—deep enough to see there’s more to Penn than meets the eye. But first she has to give him a chance. She has to say yes. Could she also be the woman to make him change his playboy ways? When these two come together, it’s hard to pull them apart. But with love and trust on the line, can Avery and Penn get what they both want? This time for keeps? This was a pretty good book. The story was well paced. The main characters were really exciting to follow on their journey. I hadn’t read this author before so I wasn’t sure what to expect. I was not disappointed! **I voluntarily read and reviewed this book |
