Kenner is always a solid choice in books. She writes well, imaginatively and creates good characters. Down On Me introduces us to Reece and Jenna who've been friends since childhood. With their friend Brent the three have been a tight knit group. Both Reece and Jenna are very sympathetic and it's obviously why they and Brent have been so close. It's also obvious that the attraction that seemingly bloomed out of nowhere between Reece and Jenna is mutual and intense.

I suspect it's very realistic in life, but I found it a little off putting that Reece slugs Brent when he thinks the two have been together after having blown off picking Jenna up at the airport to roll around in bed with another woman. I never really forgave Reece for that. I didn't want him to even sleep with anyone else after he realized he was into Jenna let alone the night she returns after a long absence.

The book is a quick read, has an interesting arc that ties it with the others in the series and is enjoyable.

Best friends to lovers, a failing bar, and life choices are what Jenna and Reece face. They have been friends forever part of a trio (Brent) that has lasted into adult hood. The problem? Things are a little more friendly between Jenna and Reece but they are fighting it so they can keep their friendship alive. When things reach their breaking point it’s explosive for the two and leads them on quite and interesting adventure. On top of that we have the bar that Reece manages coming into hardship, a cute little 4 year old girl, and a whole slew of side characters that you can’t wait to read about. Really enjoyed this one.

Down on Me is the first book in J Kenner’s Man of the Month series and sets the foundation for the following stories. I enjoyed the author’s description of Reece and Jenna’s relationship and how it evolved from friends to lovers. There was also the question of whether their romance would cause repercussions on the friendship they shared with Brent. Overall, this story has a strong moral code, emotional moments, and is an easy and well written account of unexpected love. I'm looking forward to more engaging tales in the Man of the Month series.

"Down on Me" is a strong start to a new series about 12 men, their love interests and a bar they are trying to save. As usual J. Kenner builds an interesting and complex world, with varied characters and intriguing stories. I would say this book is strongest when viewed as an introduction to this world, rather than on its own. Even though I liked the friends to lovers premise, I didn't feel deeply for either character, perhaps their relationship was too much of a rollercoaster for a shot book, I'm not sure; but I do think that in twelve books with a variety of tropes and the author's talent for great dialogues and fast-paced plots there will be something for most to enjoy.

I love reading J. Kenner’s books and I was not disappointed!! There was only one thing I didn’t like about the book and that was the ultimatum, it just didn’t hit me the right way but other than that I loved it and can’t wait to read the whole series. A hottie for each month? Count me in!!

I loved this book. It’s taken me less than 24 hours to read it and can’t wait to get the next one. The books 3 main characters are great and all work well together. The writing style is fun and fast paced, always keeping you interested in what’s happening next. Jenna & Reece are perfect for each other.

Well done J Kenner - not my first time reading your books and won’t be my last. Congratulations on a great book.

This was one hot book and a great start to a series!!

Brent, Reece and Jenna have been friends forever. They have been through everything together. What happens when two of them develop feelings and try and hide them. It makes for one hot scorching kiss!!!

I genuinely really liked the characters of Reece and Jenna. They were both very protective and new the other one would be there in a heart beat. They were already in a relationship just without the fun times. One kiss changes all that.

I loved reading about both of them coming to terms with their demons and seeing what/if it was holding them back from truly being happy.

This is a sweet, sexy friends to lovers romance that is a lot of fun to read. Reece and Jenna go way back - with a friendship pact that dates back to middle school. When Reece takes care of a very drunk Jenna the night before she leaves Austin for a job they both wake up to a strong attraction. Both of them deny the attraction because they don’t want to ruin their friendship. When Jenna returns to town, however, they can’t stay away from each other.

I always enjoy books about real people so much - not billionaires, but regular people. This book definitely falls in that category! I also enjoyed meeting a lot the players for the rest of the books in the series!

I also liked that the author made a point of having both characters take responsibility and own up to the issues that briefly breaks them apart at the end.

Overall, this is a fun, sexy read!

I received this as an ARC from net galley. But these opinions are all my own!

I enjoyed reading this friends to lovers romance. Reece and Jenna have been best friends since they were children and neither of them want to mess that up by becoming lovers. But the chemistry between them is too strong so they learn how to transition from platonic friendship to a red hot romance. Their friends are well written and the backstory of saving a friend's bar believable. The calendar angle is fun too. Recommended.

I loved the blurb on this one and was really excited to read a story/series set in Austin. I knew I was in trouble, however, when the story opened with the H having sex with someone other than the h. I kept on going, despite how much that horrible chapter affected my opinion of the story, and things just never got better for me. In truth, I didn't like Reece or Jenna, and although I was initially enticed by the character of Griffin enough to think I would read his story, in the end, I couldn't muster enough enthusiasm to read any other books in this series. Maybe I'll come back to it later. I've actually read other books by this author and truly enjoyed them, so I my dislike of this particular book may be unfairly influencing my expectations of this whole series.

These opinions are absolutely my own. Read a sample and decide for yourself.

Thank you to NetGalley and the author for providing an ARC for review.

Interesting concept for a series, each book taking on a different troupe. And each guy being the man of the month in a calendar to help save a local haunt. Down on me although it sounds dirty really doesn't fit the title, we're in a best friends to lovers. Jenna is back in town after a dead end at her dream job. Reece has been keeping his feelings locked tight but once she returns it's game on. Only issue is Reece doesn't believe in marriage and Jenna does. Oh and that pesky saving the bar part too. The story has good bones and introduces loss of people from the later storylines.

I attempted to get into this best friends to lovers story. Usually a good genre.
I just could not get into this one.
I stopped reading at 13%. Didn’t have any desire to find out how it ended.

I liked the blurb for this but sadly it didn’t live up to my expectations, too much going on, too many characters, too slow and just sadly not for me

A great start to the Man of the Month series, Down on Me brings us three BFF’s in Reece, Jenna and Brent. But as time passes the friendship between Reece and Jenna has left them both desiring more. Can friend really become lovers without consequence and where will that leave Brent, find out when you pick up your copy of this engaging read.

Thank you Netgalley for the book. I voluntarily read and reviewed this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

I was underwhelmed and overwhelmed by this at the same time.

It was underwhelming because while the synopsis was promising, it fails to deliver. Perhaps I was expecting too much? Another reason why I was underwhelmed with this story is connected to the very reason why I was overwhelmed by it.

Too many characters. Too many names. At one point I felt like I need a mind map to recall who's who and who's connected to who. My mind was overwhelmed with this array of characters that I feel disconnected from the story because I was too occupied trying to connect all these characters together.

I get that this is the first book in the series and maybe the author is trying to establish the premise of this series but is it really necessary to throw everyone into the pool so early in the party?

They have been friends forever and she is probably the only woman who he hasn't hit on because he doesn't want to spoil their friendship then about eight months ago he realised she is actually the woman for him Can he save the place he and Brent work in Can he get Jenna to look at him as the man for her future What happens when a baby joins the mix You will have to read to see

This book was given to me by Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

This book was a great start to a new series, I really enjoyed it and it has one of my favorite tropes (friends to lovers). It was an easy read and I never felt the urge to put it down :)

Hot friends to lovers! Great kick off to a brand new series! Reece was just a great guy, best friend. He and Jenna were great together!

Excited for Mr. February.

J Kenner’s books never disappoint and Down On Me was no different!

Jenna and Reece’s solid friendship has always had the makings of a relationship if only they would both admit their true feelings for one another. Their romance was genuine and steamy, leaving you wanting more of their scenes together.

If you like a good romance novel, J Kenner’s Down On Me is for you.

Thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for the ARC.
