THE ENEMIES AREN'T AT THE GATE
THEY RE ALREADY INSIDE

The pulse-pounding new thriller from crime fiction's major new star: Richard & Judy and Zoe Ball Book Club author, Tony Kent.

When a plane explodes over the Atlantic Ocean, killing hundreds of passengers, including controversial US presidential candidate Dale Victor, it appears to be a clear-cut case of terrorism. The suspect has even confessed to the bombing. But as criminal barrister Michael Devlin is about to discover, everything is not as it seems.

Also suspecting there are other forces at work, intelligence agent Joe Dempsey is driven to investigate. Who would have wanted Victor out of the way - and would commit mass murder to do it? As the evidence begins to mount, everything seems to point to the US government itself, all the way to the top. And now someone is determined to stop Dempsey and Devlin from discovering the truth. At any cost.

With countless more lives on the line, Dempsey must find a way to prove who's pulling the strings, and free the White House from the deadly grip that has taken hold of power.
My thoughts about this powerful action thriller was outstanding loved it a fast paced thirller with
A edge of your seat rollocoster ride a race against time to save

A fascinating story of high-power politics, black mail and manipulation. When those in power are calling the shots, who can stop them. However, when a plane is brought killing hundred of passengers’, suspicions are aroused when it is discovered that a presidential candidate who is a threat to those in power is among those killed. Was it really the action of terrorists? A lone international investigator is charged to find out the truth, but the odds are against it when ruthless action is taken by interested parties to eliminate anyone involved. How justice is won with a little help from an unexpected quarter make a roller coaster of an exciting story.

It was a real pleasure to blast through Power Play, which will no doubt be one of the hottest thrillers of the summer. Dempsey, Devlin and Truman all feel like trusted old friends now, and, as usual with Kent's writing, the story crackles with authenticity, urgency and tension. This superb thriller is deeply topical, playing on very modern concerns of political trust and accountability, and delivered with an expert, crowd-pleasing assuredness. A sure-fire blockbuster and a hell of a read.

Another pacy yet considered thriller from an author fast becoming a favourite. Such great plotting, realistically scary premise and the characters are all like friends now. Love it.

This was a thrilling ride, set against the politics of Washington, where nothing is as it seems, and just as soon as you have something figured out, the characters surprise you again! Recommended!

This book kept me reading well into the night. Power holds responsibilities, but power is addictive. When that addiction affects decision making, something must change. This is a fast-paced, page-turner of a novel you just can't put down!

Thank you for letting me read this book. It was not for me but I am sure it will delight many. Clever plotting but rather two dimensional characters.

Kent successfully adds twists to this terrorist thriller and has you repeatedly questioning who really are the good guys.
Would the secret service really be able to do what they.do here? After all, aren't they supposed to protect the citizens and leaders of their country? Does the president of the United States really command such unbridled power as to enable him to facilitate such an act of terrorism himself in order to protect his own reputation and position?
The characters ask precisely the questions the reader would ask so this becomes both unbelievable and yet tangible at the same time.
A compelling read for those who like terrorist thrillers that also pose questions about those organisations we have been conditioned to trust.

Thank you to Elliott & Thompson and NetGalley for this copy in exchange for an honest review.

I love a good legal thriller and this one doesn’t disappoint.

Full of twists and a fast paced read.

An action packed Thriller with Spooks and Agents coming out of the woodwork either side of the Atlantic. I liked the portrayal of the characters as well as their actions and achievements both in and out of work time. The plot was the letdown for me, as the story unwound. The past and present were intertwined in the storyline but belief needed to stretch too far for my taste. It was a book to want to read, however, and I feel that most people will enjoy it as a fictional entity for their entertainment.

Tony Kent does it again. After reading Marked for Death I waited with baited breath for more and even though the story of Kash has been put on hold (hopefully hell be back and an even bigger threat to Devlin and Co) Tony has massively raised the stakes to a global level. Love the highly plausible story that Tony has crafted I found it exhilarating and was on the edge of my seat worried sick for the welfare of Dempsey Grace and Devlin at different intervals

Keep them coming Tone

Toby Kent has done it again. A fantastic unputdownable book. The only problem with this is I read it so quickly I’ll have to wait ages for the next one.

This time around Joe Dempsey takes a more leading role as he investigates the reasons why a plane full of passengers explodes in the mid Atlantic. This takes him all over the world, uncovering more and more twits and turns. Meanwhile, in London, Michael is asked to defend the seemingly unknown defendable.

Well thank you NetGalley for letting a novice reviewer like me read what is probably going to be one of the best books of the year. I could say it was none stop thrill a minute but with the quality of writing shown by Tony Kent you can keep your readers captivated by the skill alone. There is plenty of action but Tony uses his word skills to provide the reader with a book that will keep you reading past midnight, and start again when woken early the following morning by the latest storm to hit these shores.
This is the third outing for Dempsey but you do not need to read the others to enjoy this one. In fact when you read a book and think I wish there were more, well, if you have not read the previous two, there is, and you can read them without waiting until May when this book goes on sale. Political intrigue and terrorism provide an explosive mixture in a story that keeps you gripped from the opening page to the last.

This is my first Tony Kent book but certainly won't be my last!
Power Play is a fast moving thriller about terrorism and corruption at the highest level of government.
Joe Dempsey is a seemingly invincible agent who comes up against enemies from unexpected places. He has to quickly decide who he can trust and deal with those he can't.
I read this in two days and would thoroughly recommend it to anyone who enjoys political thrillers.

I hadn’t realised this was part of a series and haven’t been able to read the others. However this book is based on an airplane being blown up carrying potential the next American president. Not a big fan of political thirillers but was a good read

A jumbo jet carrying more than 500 passengers explodes over the Atlantic killing all on board, among them a possible US presidential candidate. But who is responsible? is it the Syrian refugee who has admitted placing a suitcase on board or is the truth something much more sinister?

This is an enjoyable if implausible thriller full of unlikely scenarios as thrillers tend to be. It's going to be made into a TV series and I'll most likely watch it. It's the third in a series about Michael Devlin (one of the main characters though not the principal player here) and you certainly don't have to have read the others to enjoy this one.

Recommended if you like your thrillers violent and hard-hitting. Also a must if you like conspiracy theories. This isn't my usual type of read. I prefer my thrillers to have an element of plausibility in them. Having said that though I did zoom through this in no time at all. Thanks to NetGalley and the publishers for the ARC.

Thanks to the publishers and NetGalley for the ARC in return for a honest unbiased review.
First publication I've read by Tony Kent.
Decent political thriller, although I enjoyed it it just didn't have that wow factor for me and on that basis it's a three stars from me

Topical and scary.

A plane goes down over the ocean killing all those on board including the US presidential candidate. Power struggles at the highest echelon of society, the investigation and exploration of terrorism, the plight of immigrants and a lot of legal wrangling and excitement. Well, the author is a barrister himself!
.
It's a intriguing thriller of the highest order taking in a Syrian refugee baggage handler, someone who runs into a london police station and claims responsibility for the attack, suspicious on the president themself and then further to Afghanistan.

A fantastic, fast paced thrill of a read.
