It is always a pleasure to read her books. Great story. The book keeps you in the story from beginning to the end. You laugh and cry but it's a good one.

Erica Ridley is a great author. Mag and Lucian are fun characters in this story. Humorous at parts, serious at other parts. Stand alone book is part of series. Highly recommended historical romance by this author.

This entire series have been fun, quick reads that work well as palette cleansers between heavier books and The Duke's Desire was no different. While not historically accurate, the characters are so fun and quirky. I was excited to finally get around to Lucien's story as the Le Duc family have been some of my favorite characters in the series. Meg was the perfect character to bring Lucien out of his shell. I loved the humor that filled the story. Looking forward to reading the next in the series when it comes out!

Description
From a New York Times and USA Today bestselling author:
Meg Church adores two things: life in a village of perennial Yuletide, and the freedom of being a spinster with no reputation to protect. Oh, very well, three things: She’s harbored a secret tendre for Christmas curmudgeon Lucien le Duc since the moment she first glimpsed him. But the sexy blacksmith won’t give her the time of day, much less a night of torrid passion.
Ever since Lucien le Duc was forced to flee his beloved France during the revolution, his all-consuming goal has been to recover not only his lost land and fortune, but also his rightful place among the French aristocracy. He would never be distracted by an English dairy maid’s sultry glances… or her soul-consuming kisses… or the temptation to turn one night into forever…
The 12 Dukes of Christmas is a series of heartwarming Regency romps nestled in a picturesque snow-covered village. Twelve delightful romances… and plenty of delicious dukes!

I am a major fan of Erica Ridley and, as always, was swept into the story.
Our main characters, Meg and Lucien, are likable, engaging and believable. There are also some memorable supporting characters. Making for a great read!
I enjoyed watching as the game, otherwise known as courtship, played out between Meg and Lucien. The whole will they or won't they?
At times, I found myself smiling, crying and even laughing out loud on occasion.
I highly recommend the purchase of this book.
Thank you Erica Ridley, Webmotion and NetGalley for allowing me an advance copy for my honest feedback.

This was an exquisite historical romance. Meg is a free spirit and I enjoyed her antics. The details of Meg and Lucien’s courtship are lovely to read.
Many thanks to WebMotion and to NetGalley for providing me with a galley in exchange for my honest opinion.

This is Meg Church and Lucien le Duc’s story, eighth in the 12 Dukes of Christmas series; a standalone, happily ever after, no cheating, historical romance with sizzle.
I enjoyed the play between Meg and Lucien, she never wants to leave the town and Lucien’s only goal is to return to his home. Humorous, heartwarming and sensual. 3.5 stars rounded to 4.
I received an electronic copy of this book through NetGalley for my honest opinion.

“The Duke’s Desires” (12 Dukes of Christmas #8)” by Erica Ridley.

The 8th book in the series was both witty and charming. This is by far my favorite of the series, thus far.

Margaret Damaris Brouillard Church (namely Meg to friends) at five and twenty is a proud spinster. She has a passion for life, and takes every opportunity to rather take action. Her easiness and quick wit makes her an entertaining character throughout the book.

For six years she has harbored feeling for Lucien, but never acted on them until their collision encounter at the castle library. Her openness startles but intrigues him.

Lucien, the eldest of Le Duc siblings, is insistent on going back home to France. His tickets are booked and nothing is holding him back.

It was obvious that the story was leading up to Meg somehow end up helping Lucien to learn English, but it was still a lovely build up to his asking her for assistance. I was half expecting her to teach him with the books she read 😆.

Their growing romance blooms with each tutoring session. And makes you feel warm and fuzzy inside.

Warning: Recommended if you want to laugh out loud, and feel warm & cozy from these two character’s encounters!

We finally get Lucien Le Duc's story. He is the smoldering, gorgeous Frenchman from previous books. Meg, the naughty talking women who captures Lucien's heart, had me grinning from ear to ear the entire book. Her promiscuity and openness about it might not have been true to the time period but I loved it!

Absolutely loved the heroine in this story and my rating is mostly based on her antics! While I totally enjoyed the story, there are a few areas where I thought it needed a little more dash. HOWEVER; as usual.... The author does a good job pulling her readers in and setting a very enjoyable read to just relax with. This book in the series could well be my favorite due to the heroine herself. Definitely a read read book. I was given this book via NetGalley, All opinions expressed here are my own.
Buy the book and sit an enjoy... Regards,

Meg and Lucien were a big disappointment, don’t get me wrong I just believe the male should have been the aggressor here. It makes it more magical and although Lucien is a great character, it was that of Meg that draw a chill. I find her to be a bit too much and way too modern her attitude was a bit jaded. She is definitely too modern for this story, sorry, this is just my opinion.

3.5 stars.

This was not my favorite of the series, but it was still fun to read. Lucien le Duc is the sole single member left of his family. And he is determined to return to France and assume his aristocratic place in society.

Only there is a beautiful spinster female, Meg Church. And she offers him the chance to practice his English, something he has been putting off for quite some time. Add into the mix their mutual attraction and this is a fun quick historical romance about two people determined to have things their own way, only to find out they are better off together.

This is another one of Erica Ridley's historical novels that I thoroughly enjoyed. It has good descriptive passages, strong interesting characters and a good story. I was pleased at the happy ending . I do recommend that we read this book .

I am thoroughly enjoying the 12 Dukes of Christmas series! This is Lucien’s romance, brother to Sebastian in the 7th book in the series. Meg is friends with Eve, also of book 7. The Cressmouth community is such a small interconnected one, that everyone is friends or related to someone else in the series. Sebastian and Lucien’s sister is the romantic heroine in book 6.

I have always loved strong female characters, but Meg is a bit too forward for my tastes. Yes, Lucien seemed to need her help whether he wanted it or not, but she is just not what I would prefer for a female lead.

Lucien, bless his heart, is a bit stubborn and missed his family once his siblings both married and missed his home in France. Definitely a case of opposites attract, by class and country.

This is a stand-alone, but probably best read in its place in the series.

This is the book I was waiting for! I loved Lucien le Duc. He was the backbone of the family that was forced to flee France during the revolution. His one goal is to earn enough money to return to France. Meg Church loves living in Cressmouth. While she enjoys the freedom of being a spinster, she has a secret thing for the local blacksmith, Lucien le Duc.

I loved the sparks that fly between Meg and Lucien from when they bump into each other outside of the library. The passion grows as Meg helps Lucien learn English so he can communicate with the new members of his family.

The Duke’s Desire is the eighth book in the 12 Dukes of Christmas series , and whilst part of a series can be read as a standalone .

This book features Lucian , the last unmarried Le Duc sibling . He has long sought to reclaim his heritage but must finally put it behind him and try to settle into English life .
Meg Church is determined to help him , however she often blurts out whatever comes into her head which can be a bit disconcerting . Their romance grows amidst his resistance to her help - two lost souls - all Meg wants is security , all Lucian wants is his old life .
The humour throughout made for an engaging read with engaging characters - but I did have a few qualms about Meg's morals , which I thought out of place in this time .

That being said if a light hearted , engaging historical romance is what you are looking for then this book would suit .

I was given an ARC of this book by Netgalley and the Publisher in exchange for an honest review.
