This is not a romance, but a book that was trying to fix a friendship that has speed a lifetime. It was like Romeo and Juliet with a weird spin.

not sure what i was expecting from this one but it was not a light romance that I thought it was going to be. I did not connect at all to the characters in the book. they just were women that i would want to be around. I wish i had liked it but just didn't.

Okay this book wasn't for me, it took me a little longer to finish. I loved the cover and founded the synopsis interesting, I was thinking that it was going to be fun read..romantic novel but I was wrong I guess 🤷 so for me the first problem is that it little bit misleading. The second problem was with the main haracters, i just hate them.. really hate them 🤦 yes in the end i understand them but because I dislike them the entire book it just didn't touch me in the end. The book was a little messy and depressing and not very original to be honest. I just read this mainly to find out what the big falling-out between these former besties was about.
Still thank you NetGalley and to the publisher for the opportunity to read this book.

I remember already posting a review for this one, but it seems it got deleted.

In the beginning, I thought this is a love story. But it's even better: Its a story about an unbreakable friendship. This book is about love and luck, trust and hate, and all the shade in between. In the beginning, I disliked both of the main characters - but in the end, I understood them and liked them a lot better.

I can't remember anymore what I wrote in my first review - but this book reminded me a lot of a wedding movie I watched some years ago where the mother of the groom was a monster - and the bride always imagined how to kill her. That's exactly what this book is like!

In the beginning, it got a bit too long and I didn't understand the characters very much - but in the end, I laughed and cried all the same.

In Liz Talley's The Wedding War, this woman's fiction will bring you to tears about friendship, family, life, and love from start to finish. Tennyson Abernathy and Melanie Layton have been childhood best friends in Shreveport, Louisiana. Until they went their separate lives and when Tennyson ruined Melanie's wedding to Kit. Now fast forward twenty years, Melanie's daughter is engaged to Andrew Abernathy, Tennyson's son. And when Tennyson rolled back into town, it brought back the hurt and the pain of their best friendship. While this is going on with the wedding planning, she dealt with her strict mother, her sister's illness with eating disorders, her son Noah's concerns, and Kit's associate who wants him for herself. It's a bit too much for her. For Tennyson, she had hated Melanie for stealing Kit and had no regrets ruining her wedding. But when she's back in town, she set her eyes on Officer Joseph Rhett as her newest flame. While she plans the wedding with Melanie, she wants to try to set things right with Melanie and started anew as a shoulder to lean on and have some delicious fun. Through this time before the wedding, they were there for each other and want a second chance with each other since they're now reunited as family and blood is thicker than water for a sweet ending.

Based on my previous Liz Talley reads, I pre-ordered this book when it first arrived on Amazon. I find Liz's books thoroughly enjoyable, from her early Harlequin novels to her hilarious Morning Glory series, I think I've read them all! She's grown as a writer, that's for certain, and her latest books include characters that are not just 2-dimensional, but full of depth, flaws and all. Her realistic portrayal of women, especially, pulls me to her books - I'm a little tired of reading about women that are only out to find the perfect husband. Give me some angst and personality flaws, and I'm all in.

Mel and Teeny are previous best-friends until a wedge is driven between them - only tolerating each other again because Mel's daughter is going to marry Teeny's son. I think I enjoyed this book so much because I can see it happening with my family - a little loony, a little drama...it's all there to read and enjoy. This was a little more serious than the Morning Glory books - but still a very enjoyable read. I was rooting for the friendship the entire time.

Love love love this book! It was filled with laugh out loud moments and the moment that caused the characters to have a falling out was interesting. I look forward to more from this author!

I read this mainly to find out what the big falling-out between these former besties was about - I mean, how bad did it have to be to separate them when they had been joined at the hip so to speak as girls? While the explanation didn't disappoint, I was kind of meh about all the drama which at times got so over-the-top, and it often felt like it was all just happening to get more pages out of the story. Still, the setting was lovely and the characters themselves, though sometimes too much, had a kind of 'real' feel to them that really made you want to find out what was going to happen to them.

OMG! I loved reading this book. I could not put it down. It was funny and sad and light and dark. Teeny and Melanie were best friends forever and then they grew up. Flash forward 20 some years and their children are getting married to each other. Perfect. Looking forward to more books from Liz Talley.

Thank you NetGalley for this book! After reading the summary for the book I thought this was going to be similar to the movie Bride Wars, which was a movie I really enjoyed. Once I started reading I was disappointed that it was not what I was expecting. The book didn't hold my attention and I just couldn't get into it. I honestly did not finish the book because I was expecting a fun and witty rom-com book but got two adult women being catty to each other.

I was expecting something different. More like Mother-in-law meets Bride Wars. Not what I got.

The characters weren't too likable and i just couldn't get into it.

It was ok. I didn’t love the story but read to the end. I just couldn’t get into the story very deep or like the characters very much.

I received an ARC of this novel from Netgalley in exchange for my review. Melanie Layton and Tennyson O"Rourke were besties growing up until Melanie started dating Tennyson's (we were on a break!) ex-boyfriend. When Melanie thinks that Tennyson will be able to let bygones be bygones, she invites Tennyson to their wedding. Tennyson hasn't gotten over the betrayal and does something unforgivable at the wedding, and Melanie and Tennyson haven't spoken in years. That changes when Melanie figures out that the man her daughter is about to marry is Tennyson's son. In scenes reminiscent of The Real Housewives of fill-in-the-blank, Melanie and Tennyson bring behaving badly to an entirely new level. Can they find a way to bury the past and support their children or will there be a funeral instead of a wedding? Fun beach read!

Thank you NetGalley, Bookouture and Donna Ashcroft for lending me an advance copy of this book in exchange for my honest opinion!
Reading the synopsis here is what you’d expect to read: a light, romantic comedy about two best friends turned enemies whose children have fallen in love. Now these two women have to come together again to help plan their children’s wedding all while trying to hold their own relationships afloat. I really thought I was going to get something Mother of the Bride-ish funny, but eesh this was a heavy book. Maybe if we were properly warned, the mood would’ve been right for this read, but I went into it expecting a fun and flirty read. Instead the characters were just very unlikeable, which for me is a HUGE turn off in a book. I couldn’t get into the dialogue or storyline and had to DNF at 50%. Life is too short to finish a book you’re just not digging!

Thank you, NetGalley for this book.

Oh where do I begin??

I couldn't continue reading this book after page 20 or so. It was so not what I was expecting. I thought it would be a fun and witty romantic comedy, but I didn't get that vibe. I just didn't like the characters and found the dialogue to be quite clunky.

I wish I could have liked this book more.

I came across this book through NetGalley. I was intrigued with the synopsis and the beautiful, bright cover. I'm so happy I was able to get my hands on a copy!

Before we dive into the book review, I'd like to thank NetGalley, Montlake Romance, and Amazon Publishing for sending me an eARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Content Warning:
Death and suicide are semi-briefly discussed throughout the novel.

Good to know:
There is SO much family and friend drama. It was a fast-build at the beginning, which I love. It is told in two perspectives; the chapters interchange between Melanie and Tennyson. The writing style and language are conversational and easy to read. Talley's use of vocabulary is extraordinary (to me). While reading this book, I definitely felt a movieish vibe.

My Thoughts:
I love the characters and their development throughout the book. There were times where I would chuckle at the things they'd say or do because I can relate, or because it was simply silly. The storyline was well put together and developed in an amusing and interesting way. There were situations arising here and there, in addition to the huge problem that drives the book (two ex-bffs putting together a wedding). I love how completely opposite Tennyson and Melanie grew up to be, and that's really what also drives this book. Their personalities shine through each page and I was able to connect to each character. I sympathized with both characters and started putting myself in their situations... I concluded I have no idea what I'd do lol! There's so much drama, it truly reeled me in. I needed to know the secret and what was going to happen next, and what was going to happen after that. Needless to say, I'd like a second book because I want to know more about what happens AFTER EVERYTHING! Also, if someone doesn't make this into a movie, I might just go back to college for 4 years, major in film production and all that goodness, and produce this story myself because damn.

Recommend: I recommend this to anyone who enjoys romance and/or contemporary stories about friendships. If you like DRAMA, this is for you! If you like seeing opposites attract, this is ALSO for you.

Praise for the author:
Liz Talley's writing style is my absolute favorite. Her ability to reel me into the story and the lives' of the characters is really something magical. I'm going to go ahead and read her other books... she just may be my new favorite author.

Melanie and Tennyson are best friends turned enemies that don't speak to one another for twenty years until their children become engaged. The two women are forced together in order to support their children and a war to out shine one another begins. This is a light, funny novel that shows that true friendship runs deep despite disappoints and betrayals.
