This was an excellent novel that I had a great time reading. The characters were well drawn, and the storyline flowed seamlessly. Would like to read more books by this author.

This is an excellent, mostly fast-paced book about a woman named Jessica Williams, who years after escaping a cult, ends up meeting another Jessica Williams in the airport. Jessica 2 ends up stealing the OG Jessica’s identity and money. Jessica ends up finding out this has happened to other women named Jessica Williams, and decides to contact them and get a group together to find the bad Jessica and get their money back.

I was highly entertained throughout this novel, and Catherine McKenzie (who is one of my favorite authors) writes extremely compelling characters with full backgrounds, and plots that are richly developed and thought out. I really cared about Jessica, and absolutely loved her entertaining commentary. There’s a brief point at the 3/4 mark where I thought this would take a turn for the worse, but it didn’t. I was also NOT expecting the ending. It was a great twist that really wrapped everything up. This would make a great movie as well.

Thank you to author Catherine McKenzie, Lake Union, and NetGalley for an ARC. I am so looking forward to the next riveting novel from the author!

Holy wow. Talk about an edge of your seat wild ride into trying to see who is who and what is the real plan. The twists throughout and the major twist at the end will leave you stunned. This is a book that you will not be able to put down so make sure that you make the time and skip all your chores and errands for this!

Jessica is making an escape to Mexico after her career takes a turn for the worse. On her way there she meets another Jessica with the same name and birthday and from there things just keep going and spinning out of control. Jessica 2 steals all her money and as she delves deeper into it she finds out she isn't the only victim. Not only that she is still dealing with all her issues and secrets from being raised in a cult and escaping. As she gathers other Jessica's to track down the one who robbed them all, things start to get twisty. Who really did what and how will the revenge end?

So good this will be one of the top rated books for me this year. Just when you think you have things figured out, you don't. Run don't walk and get you a copy.

Love this author, love this book! A thriller, crime story with unexpected twists. Keeps you guessing until the end. Identity theft and how far you will go for revenge make for a very contemporary story. Thanks to Net Galley and the publisher for the opportunity to read an advanced copy in exchange for a honest review..

For once, I didn't see the ending of this one coming. I've read several of this author's work (one of her other novels was my first Goodreads win!) and I actually think this may be one of her best. It was intriguing, quick paced, and had an original storyline. The ending twist was especially clever.

Technical issue: this may be fixed in the final copy, however, due to the fact that chapters switch from past to present frequently, I would've liked them marked a little clearer; in this version, it read as if it was simply a new paragraph, which was hard to follow as it took me a minute to realize we jumped back in time.

Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for an ARC in exchange for an honest review. I look forward to more from this author!

This book had a very interesting premise with all of the different Jessica's that we get to meet. For the main character we get to see what her life is like after she met Jessica #2 who stole her money but also what life was like when she was in the Land of Todd (cult). I found both perspectives to be interesting seeing where she had come from to who she was now. I really enjoyed them talking about Liam and how he saved her but I dont think the romance with him really needed to be included. It seemed more like she hero worshiped him and that is why she started something with him. The ending I did not see coming and the twist was unlike any I have read before. I still found myself with more questions then answers at the end though.

Thank you to netgalley, and Lake Union Publishing for allowing me to review this ARC in exchange for my honest review.

I received an advanced copy of this book through NetGalley and the publisher for an honest review. I wasn't sure what to expect after her last book which I didn't enjoy as much as I wanted to; however this book was a WOW from start to finish. The writing is so well done, capturing "Jessica One"'s voice. As it progresses, there's a past timeline and a current one but they are connected, if you pay attention to the wording and certain details. Up until the last twist, which I saw coming I was prepared to give this book 5 stars. The only reason it's 4 (and really, a good rounded up 4.4) is because of what I suspected of the narrator. It makes the reader want to go back and reread the book now that you KNOW.
When this book comes out in June you are going to want to set aside a good few days to read it and do nothing much else. Yes, Jessica was a very common name in the 1980s and 1990's but you'll find this Jessica is nothing like any Jessica you may know.

You Can’t Catch Me grabs you right from the beginning, when Jessica meets someone with the same name as her in the airport. I couldn’t wait to see how this book was going to end, and what a great surprise ending. Loved the author’s style of writing and I can’t wait to read more by this author. Thank you NetGalley for the advanced copy.

This one was a hard one for me to rate. The writing, pacing and dialogue are all done well. I appreciated the hook and the quick chapters to keep a reader guessing. However, the story itself was just to difficult to get into. I couldn't find anything endearing or relatable about the characters and didn't have anyone to root for. Also, the premise was too far fetched and unbelievable to get lost in. I wound up skipping chapters. Maybe others will feel differently.

I appreciate NetGalley and Lake Union Publishing giving me the chance to review this title before it debuts in June.

Finally, a new and different plot for a domestic thriller. Jessica, an investigative journalist and cult survivor, is fired for plagiarism. To try and put that out of her mind and give herself a break, she takes a trip to Mexico. At the airport she runs into another woman with the same name and birthday who she later dubs Jessica Two. They play a game about what else they have in common and exchange contact information. Upon returning from Mexico, the original Jessica discovers all her money has been withdrawn from her bank account.

Using both her investigative talents and her survival skills, she sets out to find other Jessica’s who have also been victims. She suggests they band together to find Jessica Two and teach her a lesson.

I was blown away by this book and had a very hard time putting it down so I could go to bed. I’ve long been a fan of McKenzie’s writing (10 books in 10 years). Her writing flows smoothly and also peaks often. She’s good at planting clues as to who the culprit is, but they aren’t blatant so it is difficult to predict the ending. I’m still not sure what happened at the end of this thriller, but I know it was nothing I ever expected. Read this for sure and all her other titles if you haven’t already.

This was a by the numbers whodunnit without much guesswork necessary- all of the twists were very obvious, very early on. The rest of the book was simply going through the motions, unfortunately I did not find it memorable. I do wish that the former cult members subplot had been better developed because I felt there was a missed opportunity to elevate the storytelling.

I love anything with cult in the title so this description totally drew me in! LOVED and could not put it down. NetGalley has been crushing it with the reads lately. So grateful for the opportunity to read this thriller and loved the way it all wrapped up! Thank you for the early read!

Jessica Williams is a journalist who makes a career bombing mistake when she plagiarises an article which results in losing her job though she manages to negotiate a payoff. Whilst waiting for a flight to Mexico for a holiday she meets another Jessica Williams. What a coincidence!!?? Except it’s not. Jessica Two is a hustler and she manages to elicit sufficient information from Jessica One to steal all her settlement money. Thus starts the twistiest of twisty tales that leaves you dizzy as your head spins and your brain tries to keep up with the pace but you are most certainly entertained as you follow Jessica One as she enacts revenge on Jessica Two.

Jessica One has a fascinating story as interspersed with her exploits with Jessica Two we learn about her life up to the age of eighteen in a cult known as Land of Todd. This works really well in the storytelling as it flows effortlessly and the two stories do eventually connect together extremely cleverly. The portrayal of cult life is very sobering and deeply scary as it shows the depth of the control and Jessica also tells the sad story of her cousin Kiki both inside the cult and afterwards.

The novel is well written, the style is lively and engaging. I love the chapter headings! The characters though not all likeable are well portrayed. There are some good descriptions especially the part of the story which takes Jessica to Jackson, Wyoming which sounds breathtaking though remind me NOT to fly into Jackson 🤢! Here there are some very dramatic scenes with that glorious backdrop which I think adds an extra dimension. The end is terrific and I genuinely didn’t see that one coming! Kudos, Catherine McKenzie!

Overall, a really good novel of deception and revenge with grifters, hustlers, escapees from a cult and several interesting characters. It’s full of twists and turns and most importantly is very entertaining!

Many thanks to NetGalley and Lake Union Publishing.

This book was great from beginning to the very last page. When I first thought I figured it out, it changed again! Had me going all the way until the end.

This is one of those books that pulls you in on the absolute first page. Although the identity theft is obviously the main plot point, you also learn about Jessica's past in the cult, as well as her escape.... and that eventually plays into the main plot as well. There were a couple twists and turns, including one in the final few pages. I really enjoyed this one, and I was SHOOK by the final twist..... a fun, fast, well-done read.

I was very disappointed in this novel. It definitely did not come close to the other books I’ve read by Catherine McKenzie. This story seemed rather far-fetched and unbelievable. The end of the book did wrap the story up nicely and the reader is not left wondering what happened. I received a copy of this book fromNetGalley. The opinions expressed here are my own.

I love Catherine McKenzie's books, and if you haven't read them, I recommend you start. This book was no exception, and one of the things I most love about her books is that she thinks outside the box. Many popular authors recycle the same plot repeatedly, or they fall into the "series" trap. This is such a unique premise about a grifter who is stealing identities in a manner that's very personal. I thought I had this figured out, still enjoying the story, and then...at the end, I was thrown a whole new twist. I really enjoyed this book. Thank you to Lake Union Publishing and NetGalley for an e-ARC of this title in exchange for my honest review.

Parts of this story were excellent and some of it really dragged....a lot.

The culmination of the story was interesting and nicely buttoned things up but it was also but very far-fetched.

I was entertained by this book but didn't feel the storyline lived up to its potential.

I am, however, very grateful to have received this ARC from NetGalley in exchange for this honest review!
