My 6yr old and I loved this story, it was a good twist on the well-known fairy tale, beautifully illustrated and we liked how it was modernised. We can't wait to read more of your stories. My daughter says she would give more stars if she could. Thanks for providing us with an ARC in return for our review. |
Thanks to Netgalley for an eARC version in exchange for my review. An updated version of the fairy tale Snow White that uses reflect girl empowerment, engineering, sustainability, Snow White's mother, (the evil Star Queen) sends her off in a rocket on the pretense of visiting Prince Cosmos, but with the plan to have Snow White "stuck in nothingness forever" When Snow White realizes the rocket isn't going to Prince Cosmos' planet, she doesn't panic but instead gets to work to rewire and change its course towards the closest planet, Planet Smartie. The inhabitants of Planet Smartie are hungry vegetables that threaten to eat Snow White. Due to the lack of water, which was stolen from the planet by Star Queen in order to build her ice palace, the "collimunchers" and "hollygrabbers" haven't had food to eat and make a deal with Snow White-- have a feast for them all in two weeks or they will eat HER. Being the ingenious, engineer she is, Snow White uses pieces and parts from her crashed and broken rocketship to build seven robot helpers: Squeaky, Creaky, Rusty, Jerky, Wonk, and Blinky. But, by the time she gets to the seventh robot, she had run out of brain parts. So, Box is "empty" but extremely kind. True to the original, Star Queen discovers that Snow White is "doing best of all" now on Planet Smartie, so the queen sends a troop of dangerous Fruit Fiends to stop her. Six robots with brains are able to distinguish the FF as evil, but Box, picks up the Apple Fruit Fiend as a gift to Snow White. Prince Cosmos arrives on Planet Smartie looking for Snow White, only to learn she asleep for a thousand years. After devising a plan to awaken Snow White AND defeat the Star Queen, they are all very happy on Planet Smartie. #snowwhiteandthesevenrobots #netgally |
This twisted fairy tale takes place in the future! Instead of castles and dwarves, this fairy tale has rocket ships and robots! It was a funny and enjoyable twist on a classic tale. |
This is my second title by the same author, with the first being The Ninjabread Man, and I loved it just as much (if not more than) the first! This is the type of book I wish had existed when I was little. We have Snow White, who is scientifically inclined and can make robots and who also knows how to grow food which is a very important lifeskill! We have lessons on kindness and goodness and the prince himself didnt kiss her to wake her but I stead used diplomacy and reason to get the robot to wake her, and the prince himself is a man of color which was such a nice addition cause who ever said the prince was some random white dude anyways?! I adored the pace, the charm, and the artwork in this, although Snow White sort of reminded me a bit if Minnie Mouse with her style. The Spacebook bit made me chuckle. I would absolutely purchase this as a gift to give to my niece cause it is both empowering and adorable. |

This was a sweet sci fi version of Snow White and the Seven Dwarves. It had rocket ships and robots aliens and more. It was a little long winded especially for younger kids, so I wouldn’t recommend for kids under 8. |
[ I was sent an arc on Netgalley in return for an honest review.] 'Snow White and the seven robots' is a children's book retelling of the original fairy tale, but with an added twist! ---------- I really enjoyed reading this book with my younger sister and I loved the idea of Snow White living in space/another planet. The drawings were so cute, and they did a great job of depicting the story-line. I would have loved for the book to be a little bit longer! (but I do realise that this is a children's book) Overall, it was a short and fun read and i'll definitely be recommending it to other children :) Rating: 4/5 |
I received an advanced reader copy of this book in exchange for an honest review via netgalley and the publishers. This is a fun retelling about Snow white that I adored reading! I thought the modern twists such as 'spacebook' were fantastic and this book made me fall in love with the snow white story all over again. I cant wait to read this to my little one she will love it! |
Think Snow White but in galactic terms. The Evil Queen asks her viewscreen who is doing best of all and when it continually answers Snow White, the Queen decides to send her into space. Snow White and her step mother are both extremely clever when it comes to machines and building things. The Queen builds evil robots and Snow White is kinder, building things to help people. When Snow crash lands on a strange planet, she meets aliens who are starving and wish to eat her. Due to the Queen's greed, she has taken the water from this planet. Snow immediately sets to work to help them. However, as in the original story, the Queen finds out that Snow White is still better than she is. So she creates more evil robots to destroy Snow White. When Snow takes a bite from an apple, a poisoned dart shoots out from the evil robot making her fall asleep. Instead of true love's kiss waking her, it is someone who can see the dart in Snow's heart and remove it. In a funny twist of events, the Queen is put to sleep for a thousand years. A great book to challenge the original fairytale and though it follows a similar pattern, it is funny and has more girl power and STEM. |
Fun robotic version of Snow White where she saves herself in a way. Love me the box robot without a brain :) Perfect addition to the other twisted fairy tale versions! |
