This was an exciting thriller, in the vein of Gone Girl. It was quite unpredictable, although there were very few likeable characters. Overall it was a good story.

This is the third novel I have read by this author and I have loved everyone of them.

When a women is murdered in Blackdown village, newsreader Anna Andrews is reluctant to cover the case as it’s where she grew up and she has lots of bad memories there. Her ex-husband DCI Jack Harper left London and now works in picturesque Blackdown. He is suspicious of her involvement until he becomes a suspect in his own investigaton.

This is a fast paced read, told in viewpoints of Jack and Anna. One of them is lying but who? Superbly written with lots of twists and turns along the way, which will have you changing your mind every chapter! You won’t want to stop reading until you turn the final page.

Written from more than one perspective, this tells the story of a succession of murders in the sleepy Surrey town of Blackdown where ex wife and husband Anna (newsreader) and Jack (detective) grew up.

The intertwining lives and experiences of five girls who went to school together make for plenty of twists and turns as the body count rises. Some of the flashbacks are particularly powerful. A couple of the connections really do stretch the boundaries of credibility but it’s a compelling read; the first book by Alice Feeney I have read.

Anna is a TV presenter gets demoted to a news correspondent. Without even having the chance to cope with her demotion, she is sent to cover the news of a murder in her hometown and that’s when she finds out she knows the victim. When another murder occurs and she also knows the victim she starts to believe things aren’t adding up.

Jack is the lead investigator on the case but he is hiding some information. He n aka the victim and actually had seen her just before the murder.

With two sides of a story, which one will you believe?

I found this books really interesting, gripping and well narrated. It’s the first book I’m reading by Alice Feeney but certainly won’t be the last.

The narrations are on point and it’s so interesting to see the two sides and also the narration from the killer!

I was constantly wanting to read more and more and every time I thought I knew something, I was wrong!

With amazing twists and turns, I was really impressed by this book. It is full of suspense, fast paced and every chapter will make you just want to keep reading.

I will highly recommend it and can’t wait to read other books from this author.

There were things I liked and some things I disliked about this book.
I liked the way it was written, moving between the two main characters. I also liked the way their connection was slowly revealed. Their feelings and thoughts were well described and the author cleverly led you down a path of your own assumptions before revealing the truth.
However I found it quite confusing at times possibly because of the differing time periods covered yet overlapping.
I also disliked the overuse of the hints of things to come. I’m not a fan of the “but one wouldn’t return” style of writing although it can have its place. Here I felt there were too many vague references to unpleasant things in the past which would have been acceptable if fairly quickly revealed or if they were all about the same incident. By halfway through the book there were a least three black clouds looming overhead.

Anna is a news presenter, filling in for a colleague on maternity leave. When that person returns she resumes her old job of reporting from around the country. She is sent to her old town where there has been a murder. Her ex husband Jack is investigating. There are lots of twists and turns as more murders occur. I didn't guess the ending which makes a great change. Fast paced and would love to read more from this author.

Such a big twist at the end that I would never have guessed, so big it was a little far fetched. Otherwise a good read. The build up to the story of what had lied the characters to this point was unexpected. I didn't live it but would read others by the author

An intriguing tale told by two narrators with past history. I enjoyed finding out about their past and the horrific event which was the cause of the murders which took place. I’ve read Alice Feeney’s other books and this one did not disappoint.

Oh my goodness - talk about unreliable narrators! This book is dark and gripping, and throughout the whole thing the reader is not quite sure what to feel about it all. Told in alternate chapters by an estranged husband and wife, who separated after a personal tragedy, the book recounts their links to a spate of murders, apparently carried out by a serial killer. Extremely dark and twisty, this sinister story will certainly grip you.

I really struggled with this book, the characters weren't particularly likeable and the it was all a bit predictable. I didn't actually finish it as it just didn't hold my interest.

This was very well written however it failed to fit grip me - maybe because I struggled to find any redeeming qualities in either of the main characters! The end was well executed however I think this one may be enjoyed more by other readers

There are two sides to every story: yours and mine, ours and theirs, His & Hers. Which means someone is always lying.

Yet again, Alice Feeney messes with her readers heads. Really messes with them. She is definitely the Queen when it comes to dealing with unreliable narrators.

And yet again I was left wondering what I had read!

More twists and turns than this latest weather we're having, but much more fun.
A reporter returns to the childhood home she'd rather forget to cover the murder of her once best friend. She is all set to return to London when a further body is discovered who happens to also be an ex friend of hers. Who is killing these women? Is she next? This was a 3 until the ending which I didn’t see coming so its a 3.5.

I enjoyed this one it was a good suspense thriller and kept a fast pace throughout. I did suspect both of the main characters of being the murderer at different points but I didn’t guess who the actual killer was. A good story but a bit far fetched in parts, very unlikely the murderer could have got away with such graphic deaths and I don’t understand why the female detective was acting so suspicious but all in all a good read.

Anna’s world is falling apart, having landed her dream job as a newsreader for the BBC she is effectively demoted back to reporting when the original newsreader returns. She is sent to her home town of Blackdown Village to report on a murder of a local woman. Anna’s nightmare intensifies when she discovers that her ex husband Jack, is the senior investigating officer and that she has connections to the dead woman.
There are so many twists in this, it’s difficult to guess what will happen next or who is telling the truth. I found it difficult to put down.

His and Hers is a very fast-paced story told from two very different perspectives. Anna is a somewhat dislikable, borderline alcoholic news presenter who returns to the home town she’s been avoiding for years, to cover a shocking murder. Jack is a cliched troubled bad-boy detective, investigating the murder. We soon learn how connected they are to each other, and the victim.

As the story develops and more murders are uncovered, we learn more about the characters’ history, particularly dark aspects of Anna’s childhood.

There are lots of twists and turns in the story, which make you want to read on even if they do leave your mind whirling!

Whilst I was intrigued by the plot, I found certain aspects of the book a bit too convenient and unbelievable. Many characters’ paths seem to have crossed elsewhere in life, and for me too many coincidences are a stretch too far.

This is a fast-paced twisty tale, with a clever plot. Unfortunately it didn't really appeal. The characters are unlikeable, and unbelievable, and the plot is just too clever, so it seems unrealistic. I was also irritated at the author referring to a public school when she meant a state school. Not a book I would recommend.

This book had me gripped from start to finish, and constantly guessing and changing my mind about who the killer may be. The twists towards the end had my head spinning!

This was my first Alice Feeney book and wow was it a truly thrilling read, i was hooked from the first page and couldn't put it down.
Some of the twists weren't the most original to me but some did take me by surprise.
I'll definitely pick up more of Feeney's work in the future.
