Utterly compelling, brilliantly written and so dark I felt I should be reading it from behind a cushion!
The book's title straight away sets the story which is told from Jack and Anna's perspectives. Jack is an ageing Police detective and Anna a TV newsreader. Their paths cross when a gruesome murder takes place in a small village and he is the investigating officer and she is suddenly demoted and sent to cover the story. We quickly discover however that they have a history and the story quickly unfolds from there especially when there are two other murders in quick succession.
I was totally gripped by the accounts from both sides and all the other characters introduced in the book had interesting quirks and dark, sometimes evil back-stories. A word of warning though, without giving too much away, there is a description of a violent sexual assault which some people could find distressing.
The clever writing of this book had me guessing to the very last pages of this book as to who the killer was and even then it was such a shock I still wasn't sure!
Thank you so much to NetGalley and HQ for the advance copy in exchange for an honest, unbiased review.

At the beginning I was a bit sceptical about the way it was written but then I Couldn't put the book down. What a twist!!!

Thank you to the author, @netgalley and @hqstories for my ARC! This had everything you’d expect from a fab thriller - fear, suspicion, red herrings and twists - plus, a surprisingly dark heart at the core. Written from the point of view of tv news presenter/journalist Anna and her ex husband, DCI Jack Harper, I really enjoyed the differing perspectives of his and hers (!). Although there were a couple of random points when I felt the perspective switched, and I couldn’t tell if it was a red herring or just how the ebook had formatted given that it was an ARC. Anybody else read this and noticed anything?

What can I say ..... Alice Feeney has done it again. You have completely blown my mind with another amazing, addictive, keep me on the edge of my sofa, my head is spinning book ( Take a deep breathe)

The story of “His And Her” has 2 main characters. We have Detective Chief Inspector Jack Harper head of major crime in Blackdown in Surrey. He left the MET after a tragedy and is now investigating a murder in sleepy Blackdown. The victim is a woman he recognises and knows very well, this is a secret he will have to keep or he will end up being a suspect.

Anna Andrews has eventually got her dream job of presenting the BBC news but now her job is at risk and she doesn’t want to give it up that easily. She reluctantly returns to her childhood village Blackdown to report the murder. The victim is one of Anna’s childhood friends!!

This is a fast paced addictive read that kept me glued to my kindle. With everyone a suspect, who can be trusted? You are kept guessing until the end with its many twists and turns along this simply amazing journey.

If you have never read an Alice Feeney book then you are in for a treat.

Thank you to Netgalley for my copy in exchange for a review.

The author of His & Hers, Alice Feeney, used an unusual technique to tell the story. It created obfuscation but also allowed for a writing style which would otherwise have been impossible to deliver. Eventually we discover more angles than Pythagoras at the conclusion of the novel. I don't think I would be wrong in saying it's a fairly well worn track (the motive) but it was definitely given a new lease of life in the telling.
I really enjoyed it, especially the inside story of news presenting. Reminded me of BBC Pebble Mill back in the day, especially the ever changing relationships.

⭐️⭐️⭐️ 3 unusual stars

I’m not sure where to start with this review to be honest!

This book started great, really suspenseful & I wasn’t sure where it was going.

But the the chapters became so disjointed and at times, even though chapters are headed His and Hers - I wasn’t sure who’s viewpoint we were reading as there are a couple of female characters and a couple of male so it gets a tad confusing.

The end was one of those let’s go for the big twist storylines but it lacked impact at that point.

But judging by all the rave reviews maybe it’s just me?!

Thanks to the publishers and Netgalley for this arc. I loved Feeney’s previous two novels so was looking forward to this. Unfortunately, while I loved the set-up for this, the book ultimately didn’t work me. For me, personally, I’m not a big fan of flashbacks to teenage years, and in this book I just found the characters trite and stereotyped, and overall I felt the story had far too many coincidences.

This is a fabulously fast faced, psychological thriller. Alice Feeney is the queen of writing an engaging and unique book that is packed full of various twists and turns. It definitely kept me guessing throughout.
Overall, it’s 4 stars for me as the plot was a little far fetched with lots of situations that really wouldn’t happen.
That being said, it’s still a great read.

There are two sides to every story...which means someone is lying. One side is Anna, a bbc tv presenter and the other is her ex husband Jack, a DCI with the MIT in blackdown, Surrey. Anna returns to her home town to cover the murder of a school friend, while Jack is the detective investigating the murder - and he also knows the victim. This is a fast paced story with so many twists and turns so it definitely keeps you wanting more. I didn’t guess the big twist at the end either! Alice Feeney has a distinctive style and while this book isn’t published til May 2020 if you like the sound of this you’ll also love her earlier book ‘Sometime i lie’. Thanks to netgalley for the preview.

What. A. Book! This is an exciting, twisty thriller of a book and I looked forward to picking it up every single time. The author kept me on my toes throughout and when I thought I'd got a sense of what was going to happen 2/3 through the book, she surprised me yet again. The plot and characters are so incredibly rich and well developed and I really enjoyed the alternating chapters between Jack and Anna. There's no doubt that this book touches on some incredibly dark and uncomfortable subjects but these all played a role in the overarching story rather than being there 'just because.' I've given the 4/5 stars as I was personally unconvinced by the final twist and felt it wasn't entirely necessary as well as unrealistic. However I will most definitely be recommending this to other thriller lovers.

Thanks NetGalley for my ARC of this title.

I was absolutely drawn into this book from the very first page and read the whole thing in one sitting! I almost always am able to work out what’s going on in these types of books but the twist in this one I did not see coming! The pacing was fast and the alternate pov’s made me eager to keep reading. The only thing I was slightly confused by was the confessing all the way through accompanied by the ending but maybe I just need to read it again to understand. Would definitely read more from this author

I love this author, so was thrilled to get an arc of this book. I didn't find it quite as easy to fall into as her other's, but it was still a brilliant read, and I was hooked in the early chapters. What I love about Feeney as a thriller writer is she isn't afraid to get really dark and really gritty - I was on the edge throughout!

Alice Feeney is fast becoming one of my favourite authors. The way she manages to draw you in from her opening lines right through the twists and turns to the closing sentence - wow! This is most definitely a roller coaster and you will be thinking you know the who, what and why and then a curve ball hits you.

Anna is a news presenter for the BBC. Jack is a detective in the Police Force. When a body is discovered in the woods of a sleepy town, circumstances lead Anna to pack up and head down there. Jack is the lead detective on the case. Thrown into the mix is that the murder victim is someone they both knew. Does one of them know more than they are letting on? Told from the perspective of both of them the story unfolds and you won’t be able to put the book down as you try to ‘solve’ the case.

Another fantastic book by Alice Feeney. I raced through this book and kept coming up with theories as to what I thought had happened/was going to happen and then kept changing my mind. Clear your diary, get comfortable and let the reading commence.

A solid five star read.

His and Hers is a novel narrated in turns by Anna Andrews, a news presenter and borderline alcoholic, and DCI Jack Harper, Anna's ex husband and the lead on a murder in a small town.

Anna is initially sent to report on the murder, but soon realises she knows the woman who was murdered, and that she may be involved. And Jack is initially excited to be dealing with a real crime for a change - until he realises the body is that of the woman he was sleeping with, and that he was the last one to see her alive...

I loved the dual narration, and the difference in perspectives between the two characters - it lent such a realism to both the characters and the story. There are more twists and turns that you could shake a stick it, and each time I thought I had it figured out, I was flummoxed by the next twist.

The novel is cleverly plotted and very engaging - I didn't want to stop reading once I'd started! I also loved that the characters were so well developed - both flawed and dysfunctional, but yet somehow I found myself rooting for them.

Alice Feeney has created yet another thrilling read with 'His and Hers', and I will definitely be recommending this one to my book club.

Thank you to Netgalley, who provided me with a free ARC copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

His and Hers’ is a thoroughly entertaining read. A gratifyingly fast paced psychological thriller.

The ‘hers’ narrative relates to newsreader, Anna, and the ‘his’ the detective, Jack. That the narrative of these characters intersect at a murder scene may sound like a storyline that’s been done to death (pardon the pun!) but not so, we quickly learn that darker forces have brought these 2 together, and the murder that has United then is a little too close to home for them both!

Such a great story but struggling to say more without inadvertently dropping spoilers! Highly recommended though, easily 5 stars.

My thanks to Netgalley, author and publisher for an advance copy of this work in exchange for an honest review.

Alice Feeney is, in my opinion, the QUEEN of twisty.  There is absolutely NO DOUBT in my mind that she creates the most twisted, dysfunctional, dark and disturbing characters and let's not even mention her skill of creating the most believable unreliable narrators EVER.

His and Hers is her latest standalone psychological thriller and if you haven't read her previous two Sometimes I Lie (my review here) and I Know Who You Are (my review here), then what the heck are you waiting for.. download them NOW as His and Hers isn't published until 28th May 2020.

This is a story told by the two main characters: Anna Andrews - a successful newsreader with a personal life in tatters, a drinking problem and troubled past she is determined to run from and DCI Jack Harper - a policeman who also has run away from his past and living in a town where nothing much happens until a body is found and he realises he could actually be the main suspect.

His and Hers is the tale of two sides to a story, the murder of a young woman, the newsreader sent to cover the story and the policeman determined to catch the killer and protect himself.  Alice Feeney cleverly overlaps the narrators own versions of the truth, weaving them together and slowly revealing the full story to the reader chapter by chapter.  I read so many psychological thrillers so you'd think I would be able to work it out.. uh uh... not this time.  His and Hers kept me guessing and changing my mind constantly and I was totally gripped throughout.

Twisted, twisty and clever His and Hers is another cracking book from Alice Feeney and I highly recommend it.

I am a fan of Alice Feeney’s books and was really excited to get an advanced copy of this book from NetGalley and HQ. Thankfully I wasn’t disappointed.

As the saying goes there are two sides to every story which is the premise of this book, His and Hers, which means someone is always lying...

A body is found in Blackdown Villagw and DCI Harper is sent to investigate. It’s not long before his ex-wife Anna Andrews arrives to report live from the scene for BBC news. Jack starts to suspect that his wife is somehow involved until he suddenly realises he is being setup as a suspect in his own murder investigation.

This is a great book and when you’re reading it you get a real sense of impending doom as the story goes on. I have to say I didn’t like any of the characters in this book but that just goes to show how perfectly they were written as you really believe that anyone and everyone is guilty! The book is well paced with a number of well timed twists with a great ending.

This is the third novel I have read by this author and have enjoyed everyone of them.

His and Hers is a novel featuring two sides of a story, which means someone is lying.

Anna Andrews has finally got what she wants, the main TV presenter of the BBC’s lunchtime news. She has achieved it by putting work before friends, family, and her now ex-husband. So, when someone threatens to take her dream job away, she’ll do almost anything to keep it.

She is asked to cover a murder in the sleepy countryside village Blackdown, where she grew up but feels reluctant to go. The victim is found to be one of Anna's school friends and now she can't leave because she isn’t just covering the story, she’s at the centre of it.

DCI Jack Harper left London and never dreamt that he would end up investigating a murder in sleepy Blackdown. When Jack arrives at the murder scene he recognises the victim but decides not to tell anyone until he begins to realise he is a suspect in his own murder investigation.

This is a fast paced novel with the story been told from the his and hers viewpoints of Jack and Anna. One of them is lying and the twists and turns will keep you changing your minds throughout the book.

I would like to thank both Net Galley and HQ for supplying a copy of this novel in exchange for an honest review.
