I had a blast reading this story. The illustrations were wonderful and really helped bring so many scenes to life. The characters were very good and the story was a lot of fun to watch unfold. When someone hits their breaking point, it helped a character learn a good lesson. If you are a fan of these books then you won’t want to miss this one.

Little Rude Riding Hood learns a lesson in manners when she is sent to take cakes to her grandma. It was cute, although the resolution of how she learned her lesson might have been "fast."

This is a creative retelling of a classic with cute illustrations. Most of us have heard the story of Little Red Riding Hood about the little girl that visits her grandmother only to find the wolf has gotten her. There are some version of it and this is a new twist with a lesson about how to be nice instead of rude. This time the little girl is rude. She doesn’t want to say the polite words such as please and thank-you. She has bad manners and doesn’t understand she is being rude — not being nice to others. Will she change from Little Rude to Little Red by the end of the story? This is a little longer story than I expected. It is not a chapter book, but it is not a preschool rhyming book either. It has a few sentences in a paragraph or two with the illustrations to tell the story. It is a refreshing change to what you might expect. This is helpful in teaching a variety of lessons in a fun way while also getting conversations started about manners. It is also part of a series. There are four other books in the twisted fairy tales series. I will be searching for them.

I requested and received an e-ARC of this book from NetGalley and Arcturus Publishing in exchange for an honest review.

I loved this fairy tale retelling of the Little Red Riding Hood! In this book Little Rude is one rude kid; she is rude to her parents, her grandma, and every creature she meets on the way to grandma’s house. Little Rude thinks that manners are unnecessary until the Wolf who has been going to anger management classes and can’t handle her behavior any longer puts her in her place. Loved the ending. Keep the Twisted Fairy Tales coming!

An interesting take on the traditional red riding hood story, with little rude riding hood not having any manners.

This was a cute story overall that had a good morale lesson. Little Rude was incredibly rude indeed! After a series of events in which she chose rudeness over better behavior, Little Rude sees the consequences of her actions. I really enjoyed the illustration style, and writing.

A re-writing of a fairy tale. All the same characters but a new twist as the story tells of a little girl who has no manners.
Jo Franklin has written a well structured account of what happens to you when you are rude and ignore the feelings of others.
The little girl gets a beautiful red coat from her Grandma but even then she cannot write a thank- you letter. Her mother and father did not bring her up this way and despair that she has become known as Little Rude Riding Hood.
One day she is asked to take some bread and cakes baked especially for Grandma’s birthday. Reluctantly she agrees to go and the last thing she is told is to remember her manners in all the encounters she has and is respectful of the people she meets.
The Big Bad Wolf is trying to improve his image and is attending anger management classes. He is sorely tried to slip into bad wolf when little rude girl bumps into him. Immediately you wish Ill on her as she shows no empathy or consideration on her trip to grandma’s house. Despite getting lost she has no humility or grace to ask the way politely to the animals she meets.
You feel sorry for her grandma that if she ever makes it to her pretty cottage she’ll ruin her birthday.
While I can think of a few ways to resolve this tale the writer tries to stick to the spirit of the original and share a lesson or two to the young impressionable children listening, looking at the great colourful illustration or following the words.

I read this book to my kids at home, as well as to a group of a students I was working on comprehension with at school. All the kids thought that Rude was a great character. When Rude made rude comments, there was lots of discussion about what she said, if it was a nice thing to say, what she could've said instead, etc. This book was a perfect length for my 6 and 9 year olds bed time read aloud. It had a great lesson with it, but was also laugh out loud funny. Great book!

Jo Franklin's retelling of Little Red Riding Hood is adorable. Little Rude thinks being rude and having bad manners is fun. It is interesting to see how the Wolf, who is working on his anger management, turns Little Rude back into Little Red. Great lesson on manners and how they affect people's response to you. My granddaughter loved retelling the story to her Mom and Dad.
Thanks so much NetGalley and Arcturs Publishing!

"Little Rude Riding Hood" teaches children about manners by taking a classic story and presenting it from a different point of view. Generations of children know that the Big Bad Wolf tried to eat Little Red Riding Hood, but this book asks the question of whether she had it coming. Fun book!

It was a lovely read. The rudeness of the little red riding hood was done a bit overdone, but it gets its message delivers beautifully. It will definitely make a nice addition to young children's bookshelves.

Oh, what a twist on the original Little Red Riding Hood story! This time, Little Red is very rude and has bad manners, and she encounters a wolf who's been taking lessons to control his temper. It's both funny and educational, and I absolutely loved the swap of traditional roles here, with a helpful wolf and rude little girl. There's a good lesson in the story, I think it's both very fun and educational story. The illustrations are rather lovely. Highly recommend.

A beautifully twisted tale on the classic Little red riding hood.

A lovely book to sit and read with your younger children to learn about the importance of manners in everyday life.

The story flowed beautifully, with easily understandable lessons to be learnt, accompanied by bright colourful pictures to engage conversation with your children.

Little Rude Riding Hood put a spin on the old classic. It’s a good lesson encouraging kids to use manners and how disappointing and hurtful disrespectful behavior can be. It became a bit too repetitive how often the word rude was used. It would of been nice to show kids other ways to describe that behavior. For more than 3/4 of the book Little Rude Riding Hood was out of control in her actions that I felt more could of been done to wrap up the ending. It was a really quick flip from horribleness to perfect behavior.

Little Red Riding Hood has always been my 5 year old granddaughter's favourite story and she loves all the different versions we've found so far plus she acts it out herself and listens to it online so she is definitely a fan! (3 weeks later, we have read this almost daily! My granddaughter knows all of Little Rude's dialogue, reading some and remembering the rest and plays the part each time. This has been a definite hit)

There is a lot to recommend this story of 'Rude' which, having been brought up to date, has things in it she recognises from her own life and as it has a strong moral this totally different take on the original can be used as a timely reminder whenever necessary! It did take a little persuasion for her to accept the new name but we got there in the end!

I was able to read an advanced copy of this book thanks to NetGalley and the publishers in exchange for an unbiased review and would recommend it to anyone fed up with reading the same stories again and again it definitely makes a change. I would suggest 5 years and up as younger children might miss the point of this revamped classic.
