I did not finish this one, it was not for me, I couldn't relate to the characters, and just did not care for the story.

Another great read from the author. Full of twists and turns and hugely gripping. Can't wait to read more from her.

This was a fail for me.
I couldn’t finish this book as I hated all the characters.
The writing style also didn’t work.

"The Girl You Gave Away", by Jess Ryder, is a twisty-turvy tale of a horribly buried secret, come to light.
Erin is happily married with two teenage children, balancing a successful business and a family. Until one day, a secret from her past shows up on her front door. Erin has never told anyone about the baby girl that she gave birth to when she was just a child herself, the baby that she was forced to give up for adoption. Jade is now in her twenties, and has reached out to Erin to try to begin to form a relationship. However, Erin cannot give up the idea that something seems very odd about Jade. Her appearance, her mannerisms.....Erin is not convinced that this young woman is actually her daughter. It soon becomes clear that Jade is not seeking the mother-daughter bond that Erin had hoped for....but rather has more manipulative intentions, intentions that could quickly turn sinister.
"The Girl You Gave Away" had me hooked from the start. What does Jade actually want, and how far will she go to infiltrate the family that she so desperately wants to belong with?

Wow! Brilliant, fast paced and hard feeling book. I struggled to put it down, and can still feel my heart beating fast. I did see all of the twists coming....but that didn't ruin my enjoyment of the book at all. Great! My first from this author but it wont be my last.

Wowser, a rip roaring success of a thriller here! I was on the edge of my seat constantly from the start with the foreboding sense of what was to happen. Loved the main character and really enjoyed this one, I’ll be looking out for more from Jess for sure! Defo recommended 😊

Erin is excited to celebrate her 40th birthday with a fantastic party - she has everything a woman could want; a great husband, two great kids and a successful business. Which is why, during her party, when she sees a red envelope to open as a present she immediately has a sense of dread. She knows her perfect world is about to explode. Her long lost daughter - one she gave up for adoption 25 years ago - is about to enter her life and cause Erin's past to collide with her present. And it will ultimately affect her future.
I really enjoyed the story - although I wasn't crazy about any of the characters so I had trouble investing in them. There were a couple of twists thrown in but nothing big. All in all a decent read.
Thanks to Jess Ryder, Bookouture and NetGalley for the ARC of this book.

I received this ARC through netgalley and the publishers bookouture.

It was a very well written book told from the perspectives of the different people in the story.
My only criticism would be the end seemed unfinished and it would have been nice to know what happened to the characters.

This book goes to show that your past will always catch up with you, sooner or later. In this book Erin has to deal with her past when it pitches up at her front door. This was a thrilling read and I can't wait to get my hands on the next one on my list! Recommended.

A quick easy read with plenty of suspense and intrigue. Well-written with good characters, not too keen on the ending, but a good read nonetheless. Recommended

This is the first book that I have read by this author and I have already ordered another. Told from 2 perspectives which is a style I enjoy. ,A well written story with characters are likeable. Twists and turns that you won’t expect. A really good book. 4/5.

A brilliant psychological suspense thriller that had me engrossed from the very start. I highly recommend this book.

This was really gripping and I really enjoyed it. Whilst the characters weren't always likeable, they were engaging and interesting. The ending was a little too neat but the book kept me engaged throughout with some great twists. I would definitely recommend this book.

As a fan of Jess Ryder books, I was very much looking forward to reading her latest book.

Although it was a good storyline which should have kept me gripped from start to finish sadly it didn't. I didn't like or engage with the characters at all, I especially didn't agree with Tom's reaction to his wife's secret baby, he was completely unreasonable.

There was some aspects of the story that I liked and enjoyed well enough which was enough to keep me reading, although I did feel that a couple of questions were left unanswered at the very end.

I see from other reviews that a fair amount of readers did rate and enjoy this book more than me which is good as it just goes to show that one book doesn't fit all. I do wish I'd enjoyed it more though.
