I received an advanced reader copy of this book to read in exchange for an honest review via netgalley and the publishers.

What a book, I was in bits, 5* review!

Although this was made of fictional characters, the author actually was following her own journey that she experienced with breast cancer (thank you for sharing something so personal).

As a nurse myself, I am used to the hospital settings, however when I had a breast cancer scare last year I was terrified of the outcome and was lucky that it came back benign. Reading this story really highlights how personal the experiences are for each individual, which although being a nurse I can be as supportive as I can, but unless you go through the experience you can never truly understand what people go through. To read such a powerful story (knowing the experiences are what people go through daily) and to see how much strength and resilience is needed in the face of illness is so truly inspiring, and the story was written so well and it also gave the educational side for people who don't understand the importance of checking yourself.

This book tugged at my heart strings and will be a book that will stay in my heart.

Thank you again for allowing me the opportunity to read this arc.

It's not an easy read. But. A wonderfully written, beautiful book that had me welling up several times. The author pulled absolutely no punches dealing with what it often a taboo subject and at the same time it was incredibly positive and life affirming. The plot was handled originally and the characterisation superb.

Keira has just been diagnosed with breast cancer. She’s bewildered and traumatised. Suddenly she’s on the cancer treadmill. Diagnostic tests. Surgery, radiotherapy and chemotherapy. Whilst everything seems to be crumbling there is light. A group of women. All cancer sufferers who come together for a running group. When one of the group takes a turn for the worse, they come together to raise funds. Whilst overcoming there own fears.
This book tackles a subject that will touch the lives of countless women. However, the story is not depressing but uplifting. The thought of Keira’s mum knitting her a boob makes you smile. Well worth a read
Many thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for the opportunity to see an arc.

I’ve had this book in my TBR list for so long. Now that I have read it I am finding it hard to put into word how I feel.

Any emotional you can think of, you will feel whilst reading this.

Wow, what can I say about this book. Such an honest account of cancer from the author and her experience and portrayal of how it can affect everyone around and including the person with Cancer really shows through in her writing! I loved the message of trying to stay physically active and positive throughout Cancer treatment.

Kiera the main protagonist was an absolute hero in my eyes and I was so disappointed in and often downright angry at how some of her supposed friends and family were not empathetic to what she was going through (I’m looking at you Lorna, you absolute s**t!)

I loved that Cancer, the thing that so many people are terrified to talk about and often even mention, was the common denominator that brought Kiera, Tamsin, Amma and Sian together. How supportive of each other they were, even after only knowing each other for such a short period of time. It really is true that you can’t truly understand what someone else is going through Unless you’ve experienced it yourself!!

This book was a real emotional read for me as a close friend of mine has just been diagnosed with Breast Cancer, so this was a real eye opener!

A bloody brilliant inspirational book of friendship and hope that everyone should read!

Thank you to Netgalley and HQ for a copy of this amazing book in exchange for a review.

⭐ Not an easy read but an honest and endearing one that will stay with you long after you have turned the last page.
⭐ Although a difficult and very emotive subject matter, there was still humour sprinkled through its pages making it not too heavy.
⭐ Each & every character is well developed with their own individual personalities.

Uplifting, humorous, inspiring and emotional story of friendship and hope, with first-hand insights into the process of receiving a cancer diagnosis and the treatment stages.

When Keira discovers she has breast cancer, her life is turned upside down. She has 3 children, a husband working on a difficult and time-consuming case which he hopes will earn him promotion to partner at his legal firm, plus her own successful business to manage. But whilst still waiting to receive a confirmed diagnosis, strange and concerning problems start arising which her business partner blames on Keira, and she finds herself increasingly pushed out of the business.

Keira happens to make a group of friends who are all at different stages of their treatment. They all meet regularly to jog around the local park and gradually become great friends, supporting and inspiring each other.

With her marriage starting to fall apart, her teenage daughter going off the rails, and her business being stolen from under her nose, the help and support from her new friends proves to be invaluable.

A great read for anyone going through a cancer diagnosis or who wants to understand more about it from a cancer patients perspective.

The Cancer Ladies Running Club by Josie Lloyd has Keira discovering that she has cancer, which makes her head spin - she has children, a husband, and a business to run!  And running isn't something that she expects to get into, but a chance offer sees her life change.

There's also issues at her business - it's an independent high street shop, which she runs with her friend, whose husband has recently joined the company.  Keira doesn't know how she feels about that, and then things start going wrong.

This is a heart warming book, with lovely friendships, hidden talents and love.  There are high and low points throughout the book, and it is trying to show us the reality of cancer.

The Cancer Ladies Running Club  was published on 13th May 2021 and is available from  Amazon ,  Waterstones  and  Bookshop.org .

I normally avoid books about Cancer for fear they will be very sad but, this is hugely up-lifting. This is such a beautiful story of friendship, hope, positivity and how the strength of family, friends and a good support network can get you through anything.

The author describes in detail the processes and procedures in Keira’s cancer diagnosis and treatment, it’s a very honest account and feels very real. It made me realise how very vital the support roles a patient needs when undergoing treatment and the wonderful resources that are available, although none of this matters if you are treated like a number and the doctor forgets to tell you their name. It feels a very enlightening account of living with cancer and how it affects those around you. Yet, it isn’t sad, Keira takes everything in her stride, whatever is going on in her life and she shows that having cancer doesn’t have to define you.

When Keira met her running friends they bonded immediately, I could tell what warm people they were and their hope and positivity was radiating. I loved these characters and all that they stood for. Supporting one another at their most difficult times and using their own personal skills to help one another, this is a very uplifting read and I read it feeling like I had been enlightened into another side of the world of a cancer diagnosis.

I finished this feeling like I could take on a challenge; Keira is a hugely inspiring character and I loved everything about her. I started the book not realising that this is based on the author’s own experience, while reading it soon became clear that this was too real to be based on just research alone, I want to thank the author for sharing her own personal experiences in such a wonderful way which I am sure will inspire women going through this themselves or the fear that they one day will. This is a very beautiful book.

The Cancer Ladies’ Running Club is a surprisingly light-hearted, uplifting read based on the author’s own experiences with cancer. The main character is Keira, whose world comes crashing down after a cancer diagnosis. Struggling to come to terms with her illness, Keira finds solace, companionship and laughter in a running group of other cancer patients and survivors.

Keira's life is going along without too much drama. She is happily married with three good kids & a beloved dog. She runs a gift shop with locally sourced items along with a partner, a shop that has been in the family for a long time. Although she doesn't think too much about it when she gets a call back after a mammogram, she is shocked to discover she has breast cancer. Whilst trying to get her head round it she meets a striking woman resting partway through a run. The book follows Keira as she & her family struggle to get to grips with her diagnosis & how she is helped by the amazing ladies who run through the most traumatic time of their lives.

This could have been a depressing book, but it is told with humour, compassion and with knowledge of the subject. I laughed & cried as I read this book. Thanks to Netgalley & the publisher for letting me read & review this book.

My thanks to #NetGalley and #HQpublishing for the privilege of reading this ARC.
I absolutely loved this book. A testament to overcoming obstacles never giving up and the power of friendships.
Loved the way it dealt with a sensitive subject from all angles including the perception of others, but still maintained its light reading format.
I would highly recommend this novel.

I devoured this book in a matter of days. I rarely cry when reading but I was so emotionally impacted by this read I had a few cries in the bath reading it. A testament that a woman with cancer is, has and can be so many more things than her diagnosis, and heart-warming portrayal of true friendship.

Keira is pretty content with her life.. Happily married to Tom, three children and a successful business. But her world is about to come crashing down when she receives a devastating diagnosis - she has breast cancer. Aside from dealing with the mastectomy, chemo and radiotherapy, everything else seems to be falling apart. Her marriage is in trouble, her children are struggling and she's being pushed out by her partner at work.

The only thing that is keeping her afloat is her regular runs with The Cancer Ladies Running Club - a group of women who have gone through or are going through the same thing as her. A place to vent, a place where she's understood and uplifted and empowered. They give Keira the strength to find her voice and to turn her life around from cancer victim to survivor.

Though this is a work of fiction it is inspired by the authors own experience of breast cancer, and it therefore has an authenticity and a message of hope. Uplifting and genuine, the women in this novel are inspiring and warm, funny and real. There is a steely determination running through them all, and they are so much more than their diagnosis. I really loved this story and am sure it will provide comfort and inspiration to many.
