What would you do differently if you could relive the same day of your life over and over again?

We meet Dom and Mia, a young couple who get engaged and are blissfully happy. Fast forward ten years and Mia is the one that got away... until Dom meets her by chance in a coffee shop. Could this be fate? It could be, until Mia and Dom go on a date that ends in tragedy, only for Dom to wake up to relive the same day again...

I really enjoyed the concept of this book. I like the time loop idea and it was very well executed. I immediately loved Mia and disliked Dom but his story arc was really interesting and the ending was a gut punch. There were many times in this book that I thought it was going to go somewhere and it didn't... but then it kind of did... but then it kind of didn't! It was a really good refreshing take on a love story and I think it's a very underrated book.

A solid 3.75/5 stars.

I loved this book. It kept me invested from the very beginning, and I was eager to find out how it ended. It was interesting to see how Dominic tried to save her during all of the Thursdays. It wasn't quite a five star book for me because I wanted more from the ending.

I started reading this book, but found myself bored and could not finish. I thought I would like it since it had the element of the character trying over and over again to save the woman he loves....but I should have known better. I usually don't enjoy romance stories. Nothing actively wrong with the book, it's just not for me.

I really, really liked the premise of this book. Lisa and Liz are some of my favorite authors and they’ve written some amazing books.

While this one isn’t my favorite of theirs, I still enjoyed reading it. It wasn’t repetitive or mundane as we relived each day, which was something I worried about. A few things were a bit predictable, but that didn’t make it any less entertaining. I kept waiting for the main character to figure it out.

The ending was a bit abrupt, but sometimes we don’t need everything written out. I liked the ambiguity and the darkness that I wasn’t expecting from this genre.

I wanted to love this one so badly as I know the potential was there and the synopsis sounded amazing. This might be good for someone who doesn't really read romantic suspense books. I felt like I had no idea what was going on the whole entire time I was reading it.

I always love reading anything by Liz Fenton and Lisa Steinke and How to Save a Life is no different! I was fascinated by Dom reliving the same day over and over in a quest to save Mia. As I continued reading the ways that he would interpret each Thursday, I would try and come up with my own guess on what he needed to change in order to change the outcome. I kept guessing until the very end. Wonderful book and relatable characters!

Well we have another winner from Liz Fenton and Lisa Steinke! How to Save a Life is a warm, heartfelt novel about lost love and second chances. Liz and Lisa created a completely likable, relatable character in Dom. I enjoyed getting to know him (and watch his relationship with Mia unfold) as he relived the same day over and over and over again. I wouldn’t necessarily characterize this novel as suspenseful, but it is engaging to the point where I had to keep reading to see what happened next.

I can’t wait to see what Liz and Lisa have in store for us next. Many thanks to NetGalley, Lake Union Publishing and the authors for the opportunity to read this book.

Honestly, I went into How to Save a Life by Liz Fenton and Lisa Steinke blind and had no idea what to expect. And I could never have guessed the direction it would take. The story overall kept my interest throughout, even though it was a little outside of my normal reading genre. It reads like an emotionally deep, heartbreaking version of the movie Groundhog Day with the main character, Dom, repeating one day over and over again in an attempt to save his ex-fiance’s life. Overall, it is one that I would recommend to others.

Thank you to @netgalley for a free ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.

I’ve had this book sitting on my shelves for way too long, and I am so glad I finally read it. It was such a great book! I went into this book “blind” and was pleasantly surprised. I think I enjoyed it even more not knowing what the book would be about.

I really loved the groundhog aspect of this book. Don wakes up everyday and it’s Thursday again. He has to try and save Mia’s life every Thursday. I loved how different Dom’s interactions with the characters were each day. The authors did a great job at mixing things up. It was so nice to see a couple come back together after a decade of being apart. This was such a beautiful book, and I really enjoyed it. I recommend checking it out!

This was a very emotional, heartwarming book. If you like time loop stories like Groundhog Day, you will like this one. I was cheering for the characters and heartbroken at the same time. I really enjoyed this story. I received a free copy of this book from netgalley and the publisher in exchange for my honest review.

I do think that this novel has been written with the best of intentions and with aim to address the deep questions about love, loss, control and how to be a better person. Yet, I believe that precisely this (too tightly) formed idea behind the novel gets in the way of the real deepness. While Dom's journey about how to save his still beloved ex-fiancee's life is interesting, his betterment is too modern and his way to sensitivity is like from a magazine. Also, this idea of how to cultivate him goes opposite to any real evolvement of his relationship with Mia, unfortunately. The real conflict and catharsis is missing, simply because, really, all is about Dom and his ideas, his fears, his insecurities.

But there also is a lot of warmness in this novel and some questions posed are too good to be simply dismissed.

Dom and Mia’s engagement was called off ten years ago. Now, when they run to each other by chance at a coffee shop, Dom thinks they have a second chance to rekindle what was lost. However, on their first date ten years later, Mia is tragically killed. Dom continues to relive this day, Groundhog’s Day style, over and over. He continues to find ways to try to save her life, and improve the day as it continues to repeat itself. I loved this interesting plot – it was unlike anything I had read before. Each day had me guessing what was coming next, and what would finally be the key to help Dom get out of his time loop. I did; however, struggle to believe in, and root for Mia and Dom’s relationship. There was some spark or chemistry missing that made it hard for me to root for them to be together in the end. It was difficult for me to see that they should be together, and as each day went by, I was more convinced they were not meant for each other. While the romance didn’t hit for me, I loved Amanda and Chuck’s characters, and how they seemed to be able to truly chance Dom. Thank you for allowing me a chance to read this book!

Well, it took me forever to read this one but I finally finished it. Overall this book was ok. As many have already said, it’s totally got a Groundhog Day vibe to it. I don’t know, I just don’t have much to say about it. I’d definitely like to read more by this author but this just wasn’t a favorite for me. I think I was just hoping for a different outcome and even though I knew it would be redundant due to Dom living the same day over several times it just got old for me.

This book was an interesting take on the Groundhog Day story.
It was cleverly written & had me wanting to find out how it would end.
The ending was a surprise & had me in tears.
I can't wait to read what they decide to write next.

I liked this book, but I didn't love it. I'd generally refer to it as a "palate cleanser" - something I'd read between my preferred heavy SciFi and Fantasy to reset my brain.
The characters were interesting, and the synopsis had enough of a SciFi tinge that I wanted to give it a try, and overall I'm not mad I did.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for an ARC in exchange for my honest review. This book includes a delicious build up of tension until you finally figure out the why behind it all. While it is essentially a riff on Groundhog Day, it is told with such detail and emotion that it grips your heart.
