Sometimes a book comes along at just the right time. If there is anything that could bring a smile to my face in these times, it's scoring a proof from my favorite writing duo, Liz Fenton and Steinke.

I first fell in love with their writing long ago, devouring The Status of All Things and Your Perfect Life. From those works, they had a fan for life.

This book brings back the magic of some of the earlier novels. In this version of Groundhog Day, Dominic is our Bill Murray. He lives the same Thursday over and over. His mission: to keep his former fiancee Mia, whom he recently ran into at a coffee shop, from dying. His heart grows three sizes along the way while he not only tries to save Mia, but forms deeper relationships with some of the people in his life. He learns things about Mia, himself, and a bit about humanity in general.

He truly grows as a man, but can he be the man to save a life?

The easy, fluid writing had me rushing through the pages to find out. I won't say if it's the ending I wanted, but I believe it's the ending Dominic needed.

I am not a big fan of Groundhog Day or the concept but I loved this story! With each Thursday, I liked Dom more and more. He grew in a good way , but it still broke my heart. I love all of Liz and Lisa’s stories! I would recommend this book - fast paced and tugging! Thank you NetGalley and the publisher!

A brain cell destroying, heartbreaking, tear jerking and emotional version of Groundhog Day!

Welcome to the never ending nightmare of Dominic. He let go his love of his life, Mia, 10 years ago! Because he was dump, he was only 24, he was afraid of commitment and he was just a guy who hated to leave his secured cocoon. He never liked to take risks. But for ten years, he couldn’t find anyone to love as much as he loved Mia!

Now he has a chance to make things right but how you can compensate the time you have lost when the love of your life keep dying and you cannot do anything to stop or change it. And when you live the same day over and over again!

I watched so many time loop stories: starting from Groundhog Day, 90’s TV movie “12:01”, Netflix’s “Russian Doll” and Blumhouse’s “Happy Death Day” and Supernatural’s season3 episode 11: “ Mystery Spot” (Brother stuck in same day: Dean dies thousand times and Sam cannot do anything to save his brother!)
Most of the stories start with a song from 50 cents or Asia, Harry Nilsson (didn’t you keep singing “Gotta Get Up” song like a broken record after watching “Russian Doll”: Natasha Lyonne finds herself washing her hands, looking at the mirror at her friend’s bathroom as the song blasts out!) or Sony and Cher’s “I got you babe”. This book also stayed loyal to this tradition and our hero’s day starts with the same and meaningful song: “How To Save A life” as like an omen how his entire day meant for!

Dom wakes up every god damn June 11th suffering from hangover, chatting with his best friend Lance how he feels so stressful because today is the day he’ll go on a date with Mia and he still loves her but he may have unrequited feelings. Then he goes outside, sees homeless guy Chuck ( just like Bill Murray does, he connects with the man and learns his back story, trying to help with him!), then he runs away from his old insurance policy salesman friend played by Stephen Tobolowsky! Okay, I was just teasing! There was no salesman. I wanted to make sure you keep reading. Instead of stepping into mud puddle or seeing a salesman, Dominic saves Amanda from being hit by a car instinctively, getting her email address and moves to his workplace.

This is his routine every nine version of June 11th (at some parts he also visited the psychiatrist like Groundhog day’s Phil did and he also had MRI but nothing is wrong about his health and he is not delusional!)
Here is the million dollar question: Could Dominic get himself out of this time loop and save his love of his life? Could he finally learn Mia’s big secret? Could the lovers have second chance for their HEA?

The ending of the book was predictable and I’m not gonna tell more. I think I already told enough!

Overall: I only cut my one point because of obvious conclusion but I have to admit this was truly meaningful time loop story tells us how you seize your days and how important to have people you may hold on in your lives. I liked the message of the story even though it broke my heart into tiny little pieces. I’m giving my emotional, gripping, surprising, heartfelt four stars!

This duo surprised me a lot with their brilliant writing and their amazing tribute to Groundhog Day. I already read their thriller books but I think they are also good at writing beautiful, poignant, romantic stories. I have to congratulate them for their creative skills to write at different genres adroitly.

I've enjoyed all of Liz Fenton and Lisa Steinke's novels, but my favorites tended to be the surreal ones. They did something surreal with last year's thriller and now they've not only gone back to the romantic route, but they've also done it from a male perspective. And they did a great job of getting into a man's head.

The story was entertaining and captivating throughout. I had to keep reading to see what would happen. Even though it was not a thriller, it was still suspenseful. I felt like I was along for the ride with Dom and had no idea what was in store. I like how there was variety to each version of the day and how, in a Groundhog Day fashion, he kept trying to make things right for others. It made me wonder what I would do if I had to live one day over and over.

The supporting characters were a great fit to the story, whether or not they were likable. The descriptions made it easy to visualize people and settings.

I only had two small concerns with this novel. The first being that Dom seemed weak to me in the beginning and it took a me a few chapters to warm to him. Once I did, he was easy to love the rest of the way through. The other is more about originality. A few years ago, Kristin Harmel published a novella with the same title and a similar concept (living one day over and over). While this story was completely different from hers, I kind of wish they had chosen a different title so I didn't make the connection so easily. I get why they chose this title, however.

Overall, I really enjoyed this novel and am excited for everyone to read it this summer.

This is not my usual genre, I’m more of a crime/thriller reader however this story intrigued me. I absolutely loved it, truly one of the best books I have read. I am extremely pleased and grateful to both for opening up my mind to something totally different.

I love the Fray and love Groundhog Day. This is not my usual genre but the authors always have such great ideas for a book.

What starts out as a love story, melds into so much more. It made me think about fate, karma and what is important to me. I read it in a day and think it is a must read. There was a little suspense in wondering how they day would play out this time and when would it stick.

I loved the uniqueness to how this story unfolds and the way in which it was written. It was fun and interesting to read, and was addictive.

The novel starts off in May 2010 where we are introduced to the novels two main characters, Dom and his girlfriend Mia. Then it jumps ahead 10 years, to June 2020. Dom and Mia had ended their relationship all those years ago and Dom feels that she is the one who got away. All these years later, Dom runs into her in a coffee shop, and they begin to talk. They agree to meet up again a couple days later to talk and catch up on everything the other has been up to for the past 10 years. After Mia tragically dies on one of their dates, Dom finds himself waking up the next day only to relive the previous day, the day when she had died on their date. No matter what Dom does, Mia’s fate is the same – she dies. Dom finds himself living that fateful day each day that he wakes up, with her dying, then waking up only to relive that same day again. Dom tries many different things in an attempt to save Mia from her tragic fate, only to become frustrated when nothing he does seems to work and save her.

It was interesting to read about Dom waking up each day only to relive that same day, and seeing him try different things to make the day play out differently. I was curious if he would be able to find something that works and was eager to see if he would be able to save Mia from her fate and actually save her life. I really enjoyed reading about both Dom and Mia as the two main characters in the book, and the unique way this story was written added to the enjoyment of the novel.

Well done Liz and Lisa. Another great novel! I am looking forward to your next one!

I am not a big fan of Groundhog Day but I loved this story! The repeating Thursdays, each one shows Dom growing and changing in a good way until you get to the last Thursday and it all makes sense. I loved seeing all the SD references since I grew up there and love all if Liz and Lisa’s stories! This one is another winner!

Liz and Lisa have out done themselves with How to Save a Life. This story may be called ground hogs day but, it was so much better and more intriguing. I could not put this book down and I found myself grabbing for it late at night and early in the morning. This is their best book yet!!!

Could you imagine reliving the same day over and over again? If it were to happen, you sure better hope it’s a good one! In Dom’s case, it’s the exact opposite. Dom reconnects with Mia, the love of his life, 10 years after he breaks off their engagement. They both think it’s fate that they ran into each other and Dom is excited for a second chance with Mia. On Thursday, June 11, they go on a date and Mia tragically dies. At that moment, Dom makes a wish that he could have saved her life. The next day he wakes up and it’s Thursday, June 11 AGAIN and Dom must figure out if he can stop the universe from taking away the person he loves with all his heart and soul. ⁣

@lisaandliz really know how to tug my heartstrings. I immediately loved all of the characters and couldn’t stop reading because I needed to know if Dom was going to be able to save Mia. Watching someone die over and over and not knowing how it will happen really built up the suspense in an otherwise romantic story. The combination worked really well for me. ⁣

I really enjoyed this book. They wrote it so well, and while days repeat themselves it wasn't like you were reading the exact same day over and over again. I Like the thought process that Dom comes to conclude to at the end. How many times do you walk by the same thing each and everyday and never really take notice?
There was probably only one thing that bothered me, which was, in all the books I've read and men being the main character...their characters are never as descriptively open with their emotions. I felt Dom's character was very feminine at times. It thru me off, his manner of speaking made me think more of female friends vs a male. So it did take me a bit to get used to his character. And in the beginning I wasn't sure if Mia and Dom were a gay couple until further into it he mentions he needed a shave and other references to being male.
But once I got an idea on his character I warmed up to the story better. Even tho there are lots of sad parts in this story, it also gives out a happy feeling as well. This will be a great summer read!

After ten years, Dom runs into “the one that got away.” After he royally screwed up and ended their engagement, he regretted his decision from that day on. When they randomly run into each other though, Dom gets another chance. Except that on their first date, Mia dies. Dom wasn’t able to save her and it killed him, but when he wakes up the next morning to find the day before has started over, he sees another chance. Will he be able to save her after all?

So I threw my ARC reading schedule to the wind with this whole coronavirus thing. Now I am just reading what can hold my attention! This one met all my needs in that regard! I could not put this one down. I loved Dom and seeing him grow throughout the story. I thought this one had so many amazing lessons and it truly made my heart swell! I also loved his relationship with Mia and how she taught him so much about life without even realizing it. I absolutely adore everything this duo writes, and I am constantly amazed since their books are very different from each other. They have a serious talent that is very rare!

This was a wonderful “revolving doors” novel with characters that draw you right in and don’t let go. The storyline flowed seamlessly and kept me glued to the pages.

Lisa and Liz are back in action everybody! Sound the alarm because whenever these two come back in town, nobody knows what to expect. Liz Fenton and Lisa Steinke are my favorite duo writers and they always know how to entertain us. When I finally met them in person last summer during their book tour for their 2019 release The Two Lila Bennetts, they told me that their 2020 release would be vastly different than what I’d ever expect from them.

How to Save a Life is being called a romantic suspense with a Groundhog’s Day twist. I can guarantee that this is indeed a valid way to describe this book. I was hesitant to pick up a book that is normally out of my comfort zone, because I tend to be stricter with my reviews, but honestly, this book was so refreshingly different. I read this book in one sitting and I loved the way that the story was mapped out for the readers. I don't think there was one character I disliked. In fact, I think I was rooting for all of them. If you liked Rebecca Serle's In Five Years, you'll love How to Save a Life .

Flawless and irresistible, profoundly moving and endlessly emotional. How To Save A Life is a truly unique and beautiful reimagining of Groundhog Day, asking if life and death are preordained, if our destiny is predetermined, and if some lives are meant to be saved.

Dom is paralyzed with regret over breaking up with his girlfriend, Mia, ten years ago. When she unexpectedly appears back in his life, only to die that very same night, he becomes caught in a Groundhog Day-like time loop in which he tries desperately to save her life over and over again, only to fail each time. I loved this book and had all the feels throughout. Poignant, bittersweet and yet ultimately uplifting, I found myself re-reading certain passages again just so I could fully absorb their beauty.

Have you ever wanted to relive one day over and over again? Well for Dom, he gets the unlucky privilege of reliving the worst day of his life over with it ending before he’s given a proper second chance with the one that got away.

At the beginning, I couldn’t get into the story or Dom as the lead. I found him to be so selfish and to have a hero complex for the first half of the book. He seemed very superficial and the writing for his character made it seem really dry as if there wasn’t a lot of emotion that was put into him. But for the second half of the book, he had a vulnerability that made him seemed more sincere and relatable. There were times I’d sympathize with him and there were times he drove me nuts, but at least I was feeling something rather than nothing.

There were a lot of times I was reading this story and going through the motions of reading for the sake of reading and finishing the story. But then there were a lot of times I enjoyed reading the journey Dom went on and the character development he experienced. There was something intriguing about reliving the same day over again and what you might discover about yourself along the the way. Each day he lived over again, he was able to discover a new way to look at life and a new way to view his own struggles.

Overall premise of the book was really intriguing and I wanted to see how it would end. Other parts were not as exciting and I found myself wanting more from the story or more from Dom. I did enjoy how it ended and the over premise of discovering how one would deal with regrets and cope with the randomness of life. It gave me a lot to think about when it comes to my own life. I feel like this book is one most people will be drawn to and probably get a different feel for the story than I did.

Loved it!!! Liz and Lisa outdid themselves with this one! I loved Dom my new book boyfriend and Mia was amazing too! This was definitely a change from their domestic thrillers to back to their original roots and I loved it! Awesome beach read!!

Another winner from Liz and Lisa! My heart was pounding through the entire book. Dom keeps reliving the same Thursday over and over. Every time he woke up on Thursday again, I thought “this is the day he figures it all out!” I had no idea where the story would end. It broke my heart but also gave me hope with second chances and new beginnings. This just might be my favorite book from these authors!

Can we change fate? Dom keeps reliving the same day over and over, trying to change the outcome, but is that even possible? Is our destiny already predetermined? This book kept me turning the pages. I needed to know the answers to these questions. This book will make you feel such a wide range of emotions, fear, helplessness, hope and love. Dom and Mia are the two main characters and you will come to know them intimately. They are well developed and likable. The secondary characters are just as well crafted. The flow of this story is impeccable. You would think it would be repetitive but it's not. I hung on every word. Liz Fenton and Lisa Steinke have crafted a story that will stay with you. They are very gifted storytellers. The suspense is there as you hope that Dom can save a life, but is it Mia he is supposed to save, or himself. A very thought provoking book that will keep you up at night. Very well done. I highly recommend this book!

Another hit by Liz Fenton and Lisa Steinke. Poor Dom has to relive the same day over and over as he rekindles with his ex-fiancée 10 years after a broken engagement. The problem, no one believes Dom as he tries to save Mia, multiple times, always with the same result.

I felt for Dom as he kept reliving the devastating day. Definitely recommend, another 5 star hit by the authors.
