I’m a big lover of stories featuring new starts, and leaps of faith. I’ve always had dreams that I’ve never been brave enough to follow up on so I love reading about those who do even if it is fictional and you know they will succeed. The village of Swallowtail Bay seems like the ideal place for starting over and finding that happy ending.

The residents of Swallowtail Bay are an eclectic mix but all great characters in their way, with one exception but not mentioning any names. Miles is a grumpy guts, but you know he’s going to come right in the end and to be honest, it doesn’t take long before we see his true lovable self. Lexi is the best friend Stella could hope for, despite her own problems she’s always there to support Stella and help her. Vivian is a real delight, an ex opera diva, full of stories about her many beaus and marriage proposals, but like the rest of the residents, you aren’t quite sure if they are real or not until something happens to prove it one way or the other. And of course, there is Frank, Stella’s beloved King Charles spaniel. As my sister has one of these, I could picture him exactly, and I loved him.

Stella faces problem after problem but only rarely does she let things get her down, most of the time she dusts herself down and figures out a way to move on.

This was a lovely story of starting over and holding on to your dreams, even if they go a bit wibbly-wobbly at times.

I had never read any Kate Ginger before, but I will definitely be reading more! I very much enjoyed this title and the lovely cast of characters. Swallowtail Bay is a wonderful place to escape to and I'm very excited this is the first in the series so there will be more opportunities to catchup with the goings on there.

I always love books about starting over and learning about characters that realize their strengths.
Stella decides to upend her life after a divorce and give her the best chance at her happily ever after by moves to a seaside town, buy a business, and find new friendships.
This is a lovely read, funny, and heartwarming. Plus, there’s a very cute dog.
Uplifting and positive read.

As a NetGalley reviewer, I’m providing this unbiased review as I received this book as an ARC from the publisher.

I adore the cover of this book!

Any book with a dog in is good with me, and Frank is such a beautiful little guy. The human characters are just as lovely, though it did take a while for me to warm to Miles.

This is the second of Katie's books Ive read so far and the second I've loved. Its a wonderful start to the series and I can't wait to see what comes next!

Stella moves from Oxford to Swallowtail Bay following the breakup of her marriage, buying a shop and two holiday lets to run as a business. She soon bumps into Miles who seems far from friendly and his girlfriend is definitely the bitch from hell....... so what is his problem! Things look up though when she becomes friends with Lexi from the cafe next door and she starts to feel that she could settle down there.... but then the rumours start about her..... maybe she should sell out to Miles and leave town!

Another lovely book by this writer, the characters are so warm and believable and you find that you can't put it down until you have finished. Great summer beach read and definitely something light and fun to take your mind off the lockdown!

‘Spring Tides at Swallowtail Bay’ is the first book in a new series by Katie Ginger called ‘Swallowtail Bay’.

Licking her wounds from her divorce, Stella impulsively buys a gift shop and two holiday lets in glorious Swallowtail Bay, hoping for a fresh start with her King Charles Spaniel Frank. When the neighbours meet her with a warm welcome, Stella knows she’s found the new home she was looking for. Even gorgeous but grumpy local Miles can’t take the shine off things. But then her ex-husband announces he’s getting married again, and someone in the village starts gossiping about Stella… Is Stella’s dream over already? Or, with her new friends behind her, can Stella fight back and save her new life – and find the happy ever after she’s been waiting for?

This book is a heartwarming introduction to a new series packed with loveable characters against the backdrop of a sleepy town, it was charming from start to finish.

The story is primarily seen through the narrative of newcomer to Swallowtail Bay, Stella as she waves goodbye to the bustling city of Oxford and prepares for single life in a strange town with a new business under her belt. Thankfully support comes in the form of Lexi, who helps Stella fit into the new community but is also a shoulder to cry on when Stella’s ex husband announces his new marriage.

From the outset, this is a charming tale that can easily be absorbed in one sitting. Fun and heartwarming, it’s hard not to connect with the relatable characters and their situations that make for interesting reading. I love Stella, she’s fun, creative and it’s lovely to watch her blossom throughout the story particularly when she catches the eye of Miles, who adds an injection of charm to the story. Lexi is also a great character as she battles being a single parent with two boisterous children, she made me giggle at times with her wit.

A beautiful story that will leave you grinning from ear to ear, ‘Spring Tides at Swallowtail Bay’ is the perfect laugh out loud comedy to curl up with in a world of current doom and gloom.

You can buy ‘Spring Tides at Swallowtail Bay’ from Amazon and will be avaialble to buy from good bookshops from 14th May 2020.

I discovered Katie Ginger’s writing last year and her stories never let me down!

This is a lovely story with warm and realistic characters that bring a smile to your face. Stella is feeling a little sorry for herself following her divorce and the story unfolds as she finds her feet in Swallowtail Bay. I thought that there might be a lot of wallowing but the book isn’t like that at all. I particularly enjoyed her blossoming friendship with Lexi and the brooding Miles and his bitchy girlfriend. Great setting by the sea which was well-described.

I really enjoyed this book - it’s an easy read but brought together lots of different themes such as moving on, being true to yourself and friendship.

Stella is starting a new life, as a business owner in Swallowtail Bay. However not all is easy going. Her first meeting with her neighbour Miles goes terribly, and someone is spreading malicious gossip about her. Meeting new friends along the way she settles into the village and begins to feel part of the community.

This was a great winter evening read. Full of delightful characters, I’m looking forward to reading more in this series.

This was the sweetest little romance! I loved the setting of Swallowtail Bay. It was so quaint and cozy feeling, I'd move there tomorrow if I could! The cast of characters was absolute perfection and I enjoyed how they slowly evolved, coming together to create the perfect starting over/second chance story.

This was my first Katie Ginger novel and I look forward to reading more!

Thank you to Netgalley for providing me with a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review!
