Due to a sudden, unexpected passing in the family a few years ago and another more recently and my subsequent (mental) health issues stemming from that, I was unable to download this book in time to review it before it was archived as I did not visit this site for several years after the bereavements. This meant I didn't read or venture onto netgalley for years as not only did it remind me of that person as they shared my passion for reading, but I also struggled to maintain interest in anything due to overwhelming depression. I was therefore unable to download this title in time and so I couldn't give a review as it wasn't successfully acquired before it was archived. The second issue that has happened with some of my other books is that I had them downloaded to one particular device and said device is now defunct, so I have no access to those books anymore, sadly.

This means I can't leave an accurate reflection of my feelings towards the book as I am unable to read it now and so I am leaving a message of explanation instead. I am now back to reading and reviewing full time as once considerable time had passed I have found that books have been helping me significantly in terms of my mindset and mental health - this was after having no interest in anything for quite a number of years after the passings. Anything requested and approved will be read and a review written and posted to Amazon (where I am a Hall of Famer & Top Reviewer), Goodreads (where I have several thousand friends and the same amount who follow my reviews) and Waterstones (or Barnes & Noble if the publisher is American based). Thank you for the opportunity and apologies for the inconvenience

A heart wrenching tale with suspense that kept me hooked throughout. Really enjoyed getting to know about Claire and Eva’s lives and what led them to their decisions

This is a twisty page turner.
I loved both of the characters and the pacing was perfect
The ending was amazing. Completely shocked me.

This was a fast paced thriller that kept me interested from start to finish. However there wasn’t a real twist at the end as I was expecting. It just kept the same pace throughout and didn’t offer anything memorable but for a quick read it was enjoyable enough.

Outstanding! Absolutely loved this book and had no idea where it was going. Twisty and thrilling! Would definitely read another book by this author. Thanks for giving me the opportunity to read this.

I loveed this book! It see's two women who end up swapping destinations to try and help each other get out of bad situations. I thought this was really written and kept me hooked - I don't want to say too much as I don't want to spoil it but it's definitely one to pick up if you love a good thriller!

I really enjoyed this! What a great premise, brilliantly executed. I loved the dual timelines and really admire the character arcs for both Eva and Claire. Julie Clark is a great writer and I will definitely seek out more of her work.

The concept of this book was really interesting but unfortunately it was a bit of a let down.

The plot really intrigued me and at the beginning of the story I was really hooked but unfortunately as the story went along I became less and less interested.

The writing was okay but it was nothing special. I definitely feel the second half of this book lacked any suspense.

The characters were also okay. I definitely rooted more for Claire than Eva. Claire's backstory had me more invested than Eva's.

This book also felt much longer than it needed to be. The middle of this book dragged a lot.

I did however, like how this book tackled difficult topics including domestic abuse.

Overall, this book was just okay. Not my favourite but definitely not the worst thriller I've ever read

TW: domestic abuse, Coercive control and gaslighting

A suspenseful thriller with lots of twists and turns. Well written, rounded characters and two female protagonists I was cheerleading for. I will read more from this writer.

I was hooked the minute I read the description for The Flight. Told from a dual perspective it left me guessing whether both characters would get the happy ending they hoped for. Both Eva and Claire’s stories were told in a way that immediately caused me to root for them to escape their trauma and find a better life. The story was written excellently, it was fast paced and kept me reading right until the final chapter. I would definitely recommend.

I love the cover of this novel and the inside. "The Flight" is an suspenseful novel by Julia Clark. A page turner for sure and an original story.

This is definitely one of the most original books I have read in a long time and what a treat it was! I enjoyed the settings - between New York and California, and how Claire and Eva’s stories were so interwoven.
Packed full of twists and turns, I would give this 6 stars if I could.

This was an interesting read. Two women, both apparently on the run from their lives, meet at an airport and swap tickets hoping to both disappear. One of the planes crashes and so we get the before and after stories.
I was kept riveted to what had happened and how the story would unfold.

I’m so late reviewing this brilliant book. Huge apologies Hodder & Stoughton. Missed some reviews.

Anyhow. This was absolutely thrilling and shocking, especially at the end. An end that makes you think WOW, oh my god! Full of suspense. An ending you won’t forget.

Two strong and savvy women, from different ends of the spectrum, both desperate to change their lives. They switch tickets at the airport. Unfortunately Claire doesn’t know what she has let herself in for. Circumstances change and Claire takes on Eva’s identity and her troubling life, a life mixed up in drugs which becomes dark and threatening.

Another dual timeline, that works. Two key characters, Claire and Eva. Danielle is a third character who supports Claire’s husband Rory, she plans her diary and keeps an eye on her every move. You need to keep an eye on Danielle.

Claire married into a high society family, her husband is a politician, on the outside a perfect life, however behind closed doors she is a physically abused wife. And I mean physically abused and caged like a beautiful bird. She has no choice, Claire needs to find an way out.

This is all about inner strength, about how these two strong but vulnerable characters switch at an airport and take on each other’s identity. Then it’s about what they have to deal with to survive.

It starts with a punch and the pace picks up, weaving the two accounts into one fierce and enjoyable ride. It’s a thrilling story how they will do anything to escape their current reality and the impact and consequences of doing this. I couldn’t put it down, loved every page!

Touching and addictive. Would highly recommend.

Thank you so very much Hodder & Stoughton, Julie Clark and NetGalley for this ARC provided in exchange for my unbiased review.

This was an instant page-turner and I knew I was going to enjoy it after a few pages!

A tense and gripping story about two very brave women who make a snap decision when an opportunity is presented to them and the devastating impact of that decision.

Cleverly-plotted with plenty of twists and turns throughout. I'll be expecting to see this being made into a TV series at some point and I'll be following it all the way!

Huge thanks to Net Galley and the publishers for the opportunity.

A great premise and a page-turning read. Some good twists along the way and I loved the powerful ending too.

Great read, had me gripped from the first page - full of suspense. Two women each with a reason to disappear swap tickets after a chance meeting at the airport... My only slight annoyance when it seemed to end too quickly with no final showdown.

Between the rather creepy prologue and then that first chapter, I was hooked and knew this would be book that I would be able to devour.

And that is exactly what I have done over the course of about 3 sittings during the day, with breaks for work in between, I have been absorbed in both Claire and Eva's story.

About just why it is they felt they had no choice but to disappear from their lives and just what happens next. On the whole we get Claire's story in the present tense, seeing just how the aftermath of the decision unfolds. But perhaps more grippingly we get Eva's story, in the 6 months leading up to her meeting Claire, and what a story that is too.

Both women had incredibly strong reasons to want to leave their current lives behind, and I couldn't help but continue to read on to see just what would be revealed next. There was at least one moment where I gasped out loud and then said that I couldn't believe I hadn't made a certain connection.

This is utterly gripping and I can't believe this is the first book I have read from the author and the fact that had if I wasn't seemingly obsessed with reading books with a travel connection, or holidays, or even just flights, and if that cover hadn't caught my attention that I would have missed out on such an accomplished and impressive book.

I was rooting for Claire and Eva as everything unfurled and really would not have been able to predict the final outcomes at all.

Addictive, and fabulous!

Thank you to Hodder & Stoughton and Netgalley for this copy which I have reviewed honestly and voluntarily.

A thriller full of twists and based around several plane journeys.
Claire and Eva meet by chance at an airport when both of them are looking to escape from their own lives for very different reasons. They come up with an idea to swap boarding passes, which in turn also mounts up to swapping their lives.. From this point on the story takes a deadly turn, when the flight Eva has boarded to Puerto Rico crashes just off the coast of Florida, whilst Claire flies on to Oakland and takes on Eva's identity.

This story was full of suspense, intrigue and gave me chills at time as their individual stories began to unfold. It was intense, gripping and totally compelling throughout. I would highly recommend this book.
