If you are homebound at the moment, this is a fantastic book of recipes to lift your spirits. The Geeky Chef Cookbook is such a joy to read and the recipes that accompany so many well-loved shows and games will add to your binge-watching or gaming experience. It is impossible to provide an exhaustive list without overwhelming you, but fans of Buffy, Outlander, Harry Potter, and Zelda will not be disappointed with this book. The different types of recipes are as follows:

Basic Prep Recipes
Snacks, Appetizers, and Sides
Soups and Stews
Main Dishes
Cakes and Cupcakes
Other Desserts

❀ LOTS OF GREAT RECIPE IDEAS

I always like to try a few recipes to accompany my reviews and this book is no exception. I have bookmarked quite a few and am excited to give them a try. As most of the ingredients in my home at the moment are pantry items, I was happy to discover that I had the supplies to make Pumm’s Hot Pumpkin Soup from The Legend of Zelda. I have made quite a few variations of pumpkin soup in the past and I enjoyed the spice combination in this recipe.

❀ A FANTASTIC EDITION TO ANY FAN’S COLLECTION

The Geeky Chef Cookbook by Cassandra Reeder is a fantastic addition to any fan’s collection. The book is whimsical with wonderful photographs and easy to follow instructions. A must-have for fans who enjoy a little themed snacking.

I am both a massive nerd and a lover of food, so I’m a sucker for any cookbooks that feature nerdy recipes. The Geeky Chef cookbook delivers exactly what it promises: lots of delicious-sounding recipes inspired by pop-culture. I especially liked the look of the Soylent Green recipe (sans people), or the Game of Thrones-inspired Bowl of Brown, which sounds far more appetizing than it’s described in the books, and Lembas bread. Mmm. My big dislike though was how the author basically vomited on the whole romance genre in their Outlander-inspired recipe. Let’s not have genre-loving infighting. Romance is a genre. Romance fans and sci-fi/fantasy fans are more often than not fond of the same things. Let’s not be exclusive and crap on other genres. Geekery should be welcoming, not exclusive. Outlander absolutely counts as Geekery. Back to the recipes, though: they sound delicious, though most are pretty complicated and require a lot of ingredients. So if you’re looking for simple geek foods, you won’t find it here, but if you’ve got some time on your hands and want something tasty to accompany your latest TV/video game/movie/book-reading binge, then you’ll want to check this book out.

But please, let’s stop being crappy to the romance genre or fans of romance, or creators of romance…let’s all just enjoy our genres, be nerdy, and have fun.

A fun collection of recipes based of geeky references including books, movies, TV shows and video games. Here's everything from main meals to sides, desserts and snacks. Obviously most fun if you get the references, but the recipes themselves are delicious too.

Such a fun cookbook with fantastic photographs. All of the dishes looked yummy. This would be the perfect gift for any movie lover or geek in your life. Thank you NetGalley for the opportunity to take some of these dishes for a spin with this eARC for my honest opinion.

I enjoyed this cookbook more than the Geeky Chef drinks book and found a lot of recipes that I would make. It would make a good gift for any geeks that also like to cook. Recipes vary in difficulty and I think it would be more suited to someone who has some experience cooking as a lot of recipes are a bit complex. Some ingredients are a little speciality as well but often those ingredients are just optional.
Overall it is a fun book for anyone who's every wanted to cook the food referenced in their favourite movies, TV shows and games.
Thanks to Netgalley.com and Race Point Publishing for supplying me a copy of this book for my honest opinion.

When geeks love, that love spreads through every facet of their life, including the kitchen. So it's no wonder a cookbook like this would exist. I personally got very excited over every single Harry Potter and Lord of the RIngs recipe. You just know I'm going to be making Lembas this weekend! Reeder's tone throughout the recipes are pleasant and she leaves plenty of room for creativity and individual taste, to make sure everyone is satisfied.

I also loved the photos of the finished products, as well as the general look of the cookbook. This is definitely something for every geek in your life.

The recipes all look very delicious, they are very creative, understandable and the pictures are well taken. I can't wait to try some of them out. Perfect as a gift for all Geeks out there!

Thank you to Netgalley for giving me the chance to read and review, "The Geeky Chef Cookbook" by Cassandra Reeder. As a fellow geek, this cookbook was a dream come true. I liked that the recipes had pictures and were easily identifiable from different movies and t.v series. The recipes were not overly complicated. I am eager to try some of them once the world settles down more.

The Geeky Chef Cookbook is a unique concept for a cookbook and perfect for the geek in your life. Unlike the tailored cookbooks this one allows you to get a splash of lots of numerous fandoms across everything. I love how easy it is to recreate the recipes. Such a fun and unique story.

What a fun, geeky Cookbook. Titled properly, these are the recipes from your favorite fantasy films! My favorite? The Hamburger "The Big Kahuna" from the film Pulp fiction!! The author is clever and witty and worked hard to make these dishes as close to the movie dish as possible, with pictures throughout the book so you know what the dish should look like. This is the ultimate book for all us Geeky Chefs and is a must-have in our kitchen!

What a clever conceit for a cookbook. You often see themed cookbooks based on one fandom or another (Star Trek, Lord of the Rings), but here's a volume for the enthusiast who loves many different franchises. There's a little something for everyone, whether you like Star Wars or Doctor Who or Redwall. Lots of variety in recipe types, very approachable, and most don't call for super obscure ingredients. I could have used a few more pictures (I like a one-to-one ratio for recipes and photos), but otherwise this is a fun and inventive book.

Nice cookbook for the fun-loving chef who happens to be a member of ANY fandom. The recipes seem to be easy to follow with nice pictures to go along with most.

I loved The Geeky Chef and this cookbook collects great recipes that are so fun for those who love all nerdy and geeky stuff. This book includes drinks, snacks, entrees and desserts based on your favorite fandoms such as Game of Thrones, Cowboy Bebop, Star Trek and so many more.
The recipes are easy to follow and I can't wait to make Soylent Green!

I would recommend this cookbook, (almost) every recipe is original and interesting !
I like the layout of everything, as well as the designs.
I like that the author didn't just raplicate recipes from series/video games etc. but (re)invented them. Like the "Fish Fingers and Custard" from Doctor Who that are, here, fish fingers and mustard (but more elaborate and with more interesting flavors, I don't want to describe it to not give it away :)). Plus the author also includes a text that mention the real-life version of the recipe, used bu the producers of Doctor Who (coconut cake and custard), so you have 2 versions to try ! Great Lambas recipe too !
Some recipes are not so interesting though, like the "Los Pollos Hermanos chicken" one, that is litterally just fried chicken, but other are defenitely worth the read (and try !).
I would have liked pictures for every recipe and maybe an index with the recipes sorted by fandom like on the blog ?
Also, some pictures are photoshopped ? Like the fruity oaty bars are photoshopped to be multiculored. So the recipe tells you to put food coloring but then proceeds to not show you how ridiculous it looks when you use food coloring and instead photoshop the thing ? I don't know what that is about !

In general I would recommend this cookbook, (almost) every recipe is original and interesting !

Listen. I am a nerd. I am a huge, capital 'N' Nerd and I love all things bookish, tv-series-ish, film-ish or anything else geeky-ish. That obviously includes the food. I mean, what is Harry Potter without the constant mention of treacle tart, really? Or the twelfth Doctor without his fishfingers and custards?
Which means that I could not be more excited that there is a book for people like me. To re-make, re-live and be part of their favourite fantasy world through the fabulousness that is good food.

And holy guacamoly is Cassandra doing a good job. If anyone here is not familar with her blog, why not? Please check it out right after this review. And after you've ordered this cook book.

First off, this book is just lovely to look at. It is designed in a simple style but makes my nerdy heart sing whenever there is a colourful silhouette of a snitch. Secondly, Cassandra is doing an absolute wonderful job reeling the reader/chef into the recipes by starting them off with relatable anecdotes. I honestly grinned to myself more than once, thinking "yep, that's it!"

Now, I am an absolute noob in the kitchen, but most of the recipes are so simple and great that even I can do them and they look AMAZING (my personal favourite are the Pumpkin Pasties, SO GOOD!), which means that you definitely have no excuse not trying these out. The pictures along want to make you be really good at cooking, I promise you.

Lastly, I have seen that Cassandra does have tips on making the dishes veggie or even vegan (at least some of them) - at least on her blog, which I highly appreciate.

If I had to say something negative at all, then it would be that there are no iZombie recipes in this book. But that is not negative after all because this can be taken as my appeal to Cassandra to maybe create a whole iZombie cookbook! Every episode starts off with Liv cooking, after all (pretty, pretty, pretty please?)

So all that's left to say is: get your cosplays and aprons ready and COOK!

I absolutely love this cookbook! I'm a multi-fandom nerd, so I already have fandom-specific cookbooks for Game of Thrones, The Hunger Games, and so on. But it's great to have a cookbook that features so many fandoms in one place! I can't wait to make Soylent Green and Lembas! And I just bought the ingredients for the Dauntless Chocolate Cake from the Divergent series!

This seems like a great time for cookbooks as we are all probably eating at home more.  This entry has a fun twist.  The author has created recipes around favorite books.  Below are some examples:

Snacks, Appetizers and Sides:

Doctor Who:  fishfingers and custard; The Matrix: Tastee Wheat;Blade Runner: White Dragon Noodles.

Soups and Stews:

The Hunger Games:  Lamb Stew with Plums; Avatar:  Seaweed Noodles; Firefly:  Wife Soup.

Main Dishes:

The Avengers: Shwarma; Breaking Bad: Los Pollos Hermanos Chicken; Buffy: Double meat Medley.

Cakes and Cupcakes:

Harry Potter: Cauldron Cakes; Divergent: Dauntless Chocolate Cake; The Hobbit: Seed Cakes

Other Desserts: The Chronicles of Narnia: Turkish Delight; Harry Potter: Treacle Tarts; My Little Pony: ChimiCherryChanga.

Of course, the above is a sample as the book includes many more.  The recipes are clearly presented and there are beautiful photographs throughout.

A unique cookbook that I enjoyed.  Many thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for this book in exchange for an honest review.

Ok so choosing to review a cookbook in the middle of a pandemic was probably not my smartest move. This book is filled with all kinds of food ideas inspired by some of my favorite sci fi properties like; Hunger Games, Firefly, TMNT, Avatar the Last Airbender, Buffy, and even Kingdom Hearts. Since all of my local shops are almost entirely out of luxury supplies I haven't been able to try any of the recipes, but I look forward to when I will be able to.
