The Geeky Chef Cookbook is an imaginative compilation of recipes from the geek world, taking inspiration from film and from novels. It is almost perfect - it just needs more photos! I am of the belief that every recipe deserves a photo so I can tell how closely my efforts to follow the recipe match the author's effort. There are a few insta-tries for me, such as one from the X-Files.

Every X-Files lover will be ready to try the NonFat Tofutti Rice Dreamsicle recipe. Even if Mulder says the air in his mouth is better, the photo looks pretty tasty.

Ha, this was awesome 😆 don't get me wrong, I think there will only be a couple of recipes from this that I will actually try, but top marks for being so inventive!

Thank you NetGalley and publishers for an ARC. All opinions are my own.

Reeder creates a delicious recipe book inspired by today and yesterdays favorite scifi and magic movies and books. It is well thought out and includes little images that correlate with each movie, show, or book it was inspired by. It is seperated by courses and even has some fun desserts. I appreciated the short summary of where each recipe was found on said movie, show, or book. Perfect for parties or movie marathons!

I’m a huge geek, so when I saw this book, I knew I had to read it. I mean, geeky recipes inspired by fantasy works? Sign me up! It’s such a cute book full of fun recipes inspired by a variety of fantasy works. I love that there are dishes inspired by books, movies, games, and television shows.

Each recipe is accompanied by the name of the fantasy that inspired by along with a short description of what inspired it. Most of the recipes include a picture, and many of them are truly mouthwatering. I can’t wait to make some of these! I do wish that all the recipes included a picture of the completed dish, but it’s not a must. I’ve read books that didn’t have a single picture, so I can’t complain much.

I think it’s a great book with a nice variety of fun and tasty sounding foods. I particularly enjoyed the recipes inspired by fantasy works that I’m a fan of. However, I am interested in many of the recipes regardless of how well I know about what inspired them. I’m very excited to try some of these recipes out and have fun making them!

I received an ARC of this from the publisher via Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

I love this series of recipes/books. It brings back so many memories and I just geek right out. I’m so excited to try some of these cool, eclectic recipes and you know...the normal ones too, Narnia’s Turkish delight for one. Most of these have great pictures and easy to follow instructions. The explanations behind each recipe are absolute gold. Sometimes they even give you a chuckle like Southpark’s chocolate salty ball recipe.
Love it and looking forward to more.

This is a very fun cookbook, with the recipes based off the pop culture/ tv/movie/gamer works. My favorite was the pizza gyoza for teenage mutant ninja turtle! How perfect. While the recipes as a whole don’t seem all that interesting there are some perfect fits for you next binge session. So make some lemon cakes and pie (no Frey’s harmed in the making)

This book was definitely a delight to receive as an arc from Netgalley and the publishers and I'm very grateful for the opportunity I was given.

From Adventure Time and Marvel to Star Trek and Game of Thrones, this cookbook is packed full of delicious recipes from different geeky franchises.

Gaming, tv shows and movies galore there are plenty of recipes; snacks and soups, pot pies, pastries and deserts, I'm honesty drooling as I scroll through these plentiful treats.

I like that they have the measurements in cups and grams so it saves me from trying to figure out how much to use.

I can't wait to try make some during these next few weeks! I already made the divergent cake and it was so amazing!

I absolutely love everything that Cassandra Reeder produces, so naturally I was pumped to learn about her new cookbook. I really appreciate that she includes the movie, book, or game that the recipe is inspired by. She has mastered the perfect combination of literature and culinary arts. We are very excited to be able to make the tasty treats and drinks. Directions are very clear, concise, and easy to follow. If you like anything geeky and enjoy cooking tasty food, do yourself a favor and get this book.

This was such a fun cookbook and it's perfect for the geeks out there, especially if one is into fandom such as The Legend of Zelda, Hannibal, Star Trek, Buffy and so on. There's several recipes I'd love to try, such as Turkish Delight (Narnia) and Pumpkin Pasties (HP).

I thought this was such a great collection of recipes based on different shows, movies, games, and books. I loved looking at all the tasty food to see what I can create myself. They look simple, but fancy at the same time.

I cannot even decide where to begin, so this is going to bounce around a bit. I always answer the "Are the nutritional breakdowns?" question in reviews...and the answer is "no"...but chances are good if you are picking up this book, it has little to do with diets and way more to do with fandoms.

A large number of the "big" fandoms are in here. There were a couple I was surprised weren't...but that leaves awesome chances for a second book in the future (hopefully, that is).

The recipes themselves are easy to follow, they have awesome pictures with each one. There's also a little bit of the "history" of the dishes (what episodes they are in, where the idea came for for them-that kind of information).

Definitely a great gift for the nerd and/or geek in your life. Think of all the fun themed parties and dinners you can do!

This cookbook is so cute, with lots of neat recipes inspired by fantasy games, movies, and TV. The recipes look simple enough for a novice, and would be lots of fun to serve at theme parties or to a friend who loves the genre.

I admit that I am 100% the audience for this book as I am a self-professed geek/nerd person. However! I will say that not only does this book tap into favorite series, films, and books of mine, but it delivers in the recipe department as well! These recipes, and the perfectly-lengthed descriptions for each, were a delight to read through, and I am excited to prepare several. Also, there is some nod to those of us who pursue plant-based living, and that is appreciated.

The recipes are quite easy and straight forward for my skill level (which is admittedly quite advanced), but I think that they will be suitable for home cooks of any skill and experience level. The author does a good job of breaking down the recipes and giving you the tools needed for success. Additionally, while not all of the recipes have photos, most do. Photos are always a boon to a cookbook, in my opinion. I want to see what the final product should look like, even if I can suss it out for myself. Bonus! The photos are themed for the particular property from which they are taken (delight is in the details).

Thank you to NetGalley for providing me with an advanced copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. I am going to go out and preorder this and make Otik's spiced potatoes while I wait for it to arrive.

I'm not the biggest geek so I think I have a more subdued sense of glee but nevertheless, I enjoyed the concept and was intrigued by the range of foods. Even I got excited (DoubleMeat Medley!) and jumped to cook some things. The results are reasonable, simple, good food. What more can you want than a sense of wonder and good filling food?

If ever a cookbook spoke to me, it would be this one. The title alone had me. But then, seeing the cover sporting images of the Tardis from Doctor Who, and the Vulcan hand salute from Star Trek just to name two (my favorites), I knew I couldn’t turn back.

Author Cassandra Reeder has brought together fun and out of this word recipes based on the wonderful geeky worlds of Sic-Fi and Fantasy. THE GEEKY CHEF COOKBOOK: Real-Life Recipes For Fantasy Foods covers shows/stories/games that will have fans tying on their favorite show geeky aprons, and heading to the galley/mess hall to get their cook on.

Covering basic recipes – through desserts, there is something for everyone. Each recipe features the name of the geekverse that inspired it. You’ll find . . . Babylon 5: Spoo, Doctor Who: Fish Fingers and Custard, The Hunger Games: Gheese Buns, Star Trek: Plomeek Soup, World of Warcraft: Dragonbreath Chili, Firefly: Wife Soup, Adventure Time: Bacon Pancakes, Outlander: Highland Sandwiches, Buffy the Vampire Slayer: Doublemeat Medley, Harry Potter: Cauldron Cakes, Super Mario Bros: 1Up Mushroom Cupcakes, The Hobbit: Seed Cakes, The Chronicles of Narnia: Turkish Delight, My Little Pony - Friendship is Magic: ChimiCherryChanga, The X-Files: Nonfat Tofutti Rice Dreamsicle, and so many more! (I know some sound odd, but all of the recipes are suited to human tastes)

THE GEEKY CHEF COOKBOOK is delightfully out of this world! I had so much fun turning the pages to be surprised by what was next. While there are some references that I, self-proclaimed nerdy geek, didn’t know, I just didn’t care. Each one was so much fun. I admire the author for making these strange, unearthly dishes into something for all of us to enjoy.

My one complaint, as it often is with cookbooks, there weren’t enough photos! I get that the more photos, the more the books costs to make and for us to buy, but I’m bummed that I don’t know what the finished product of some these creations look like. That aside, THE GEEKY CHEF COOKBOOK is a must have for sic-fi/fantasy/gamer/animation fans everywhere!

Ever played a game or watch a film and though, wish i could eat that, well now you can! I adore this book. A brilliant idea extremely well executed. Elder Scrolls sweet rolls, Kiki Deliverys Service Herring and Pumpkin pot pie and the famous Pumpkin Pasties from Harry Potter. Really fun useful book. Also, extra points for including the Big Kahuna Burger from Pulp Fiction. That one was a great surprise.
