The Catch is an engaging, tightly-plotted thriller which is gripping from beginning to end. I particularly enjoyed the way the author uses multiple points of view, including that of the antagonist- really effective and entertaining!

All a caring parent wants for their child is for their lives to be happy, secure and safe from harm which is perfectly understandable whilst a child is growing up but once they reach adulthood, they need to be given the freedom to live their own lives. Unfortunately, there are some parents who struggle to let their child go and can be very controlling and over protective. Our main character Ed adored his daughter Abbie and was prepared to go to any lengths that he deemed necessary to keep her safe from harm and protect her from dodgy boyfriends. And as far as Ed was concerned there was definitely something dodgy about Abbie's new fiance Ryan, that there was something dark lurking behind the dark eyes, shy smile and perfect manners. Of course, neither Abbie or Ed's wife Claire were prepared to listen to Ed's doubts and concerns so he decides to go all Tom Cruise ala Mission Impossible and starts digging into Ryan's life, determined to uncover the evidence that he needed to prove that his suspicious are correct. Although I could fully understand Ed's concerns about Abbie's safety and despite the fact that Ed and Claire had a tragic backstory that might have gone a little way into explaining his thoughts, actions and behaviour, I found that he was a very annoying character and for various reasons I didn't think he was very likeable. He was so obsessed with his search for evidence that he didn't once take Abbie and Claire's feelings into consideration. But were Ed's suspicions about Ryan correct? Was Ryan a cunning, manipulative psychopath or a genuine, caring nice guy? Will Ed's suspicions result in him losing everything that he cares about?

The book is divided into three sections and are voiced from the perspectives of first Ed and Claire, then just Ed and the final third is narrated by Abbie, Claire and Ryan. The writer cleverly keeps the reader in the dark about what Ryan's thoughts were about Abbie and her family, what the truth about Ryan's character may or may not have been and if Abbie and Ryan's relationship was as happy as it appeared to be.

I love T.M.Logan's thrillers, they are always extremely well written, thrilling reads that hook the reader in from the first page, keep you guessing and racing through the pages. His characters are always diverse, vivid and realistic, the plots are intricate and gripping and his books are addictive, enthralling, enjoyable reads and very very highly recommended.

I wasn't sure I would like this book as I thought I'd figured out the ending quite quickly so it wouldn't be that interesting. I was wrong. The writing style and the gradual building up of the background of Ryan was really well done. An entertaining read with a heart stopping ending.

I read this book in a day. I couldn't put it down, great characters, well written story with a meaty ending. It was everything I love in a psychological thriller. Highly recommend! .

Sparks fly when Ed meets his daughter Abbie’s new boyfriend Ryan but not in a good way! You always know when you read a book by this author that you are in for a crazy ride and this one is no different. Is Ed just being paranoid or is the perfect Ryan not so perfect after all? Well hold on to your hat as you read and find out. I’ve thoroughly enjoyed all T M Logan’s books as they’re never staid or so slow burning that they fizzle out before the story even gets going. Read but don’t forget to breathe as the thrilling climax approaches!

This book kept me on the edge of my seat

Abby brings home Ryan to meet her parents she thinks he is perfect, Mum loves him, Dad doesn’t trust him as far as he can throw him

Ryan continues to be just amazing throughout the book and you really start to think that Dad is nuts but he does not give up

This is as far as I go because this book continues in a way that will shock and surprise you

I gave this 5 stars it’s excellent

Unfortunately, I have not been able to read and review this book.

After losing and replacing my broken Kindle and getting a new phone I was unable to download the title again for review as it was no longer available on Netgalley.

I’m really sorry about this and hope that it won’t affect you allowing me to read and review your titles in the future.

Thank you so much for giving me this opportunity.
Natalie.

Dad doesn't like daughters new boyfriend... Didn't sound too promising, all too familiar saga of over protective father? Not this time, the reader is taken on a journey through the lives of this family all the while left to decide whether it's Dad's suspicions or true fact driving him on. I didn't see the ending coming, it was really well done. The relationships between father/daughter, mum/daughter and each with the new man, were cleverly woven and felt plausible. I've enjoyed all of this authors books and will continue to seek them out.

For me this was a quick read and it began quite well! It felt believable and I’m sure many people can understand a very protective father, only wanting the best for his daughter. However, as the book went on I found some of the scenarios very far fetched and I began to lose interest a bit.

There are many thrillers out there and it is quite a saturated market, so it does take a lot to impress me and make me go wow. I had the end sussed out in advance, and when this happens it quite hard to keep going.

Overall it’s not a bad read, but it’s not up there with my top thrillers!

First book I read by this author and I enjoyed a lot, as a matter of a fact I read it in one sitting. I just couldn't put it down. The father obssession can be a bit annoying but it's totally worth to know the why, what and where. I caught myself making theories and guessing what was going on and when we discovered the true I can assure you it's a total shock. Iit was a bit repetitive sometimes and that's the only reason I'm giving four stars. Overall it was a great book and really gripping.

Fast paced thriller loved all of the exciting plot twists couldn’t put it down a real page turner. Great book really enjoyed The Holiday & can’t wait for the next book. Clever game of cat and mouse with Ryan and Edward as the protective Dad who knows his instinct to protect Abbie is right but struggles to prove his future son in law is lying to his trusting family. Edward’s downward spiral to uncover the truth takes it’s toil on his mental health as his life begins to unravel at breathtaking speed. Thanks Netgalley and Bonnier Books for the advance copy

If you look up the definition of a slow burner, the catch would be there. It was good enough to keep me interested, and easy to read, but just as I was lulled into an average read kind of security - BOOM - the last 1/4 blew me away! Chilling, scary, exciting, sad, this had it all - pushing a 3.5 star up to a 5 (or maybe a 6)
Loved it!
