Wow, The Catch does not hold back! Another fantastic read from TM Logan, I read this quickly, needling Tom see what was going to happen next. It is far from being predictable and has so many twists and turns you will feel like you are on a never ending roller coaster. You always know when you pick up a book from this author that you are in for a treat.

Abbie’s new boyfriend is a catch. Everybody thinks so.. except for her father Ed. Ryan is smart, has a great job, popular and good looking. But Ed thinks he is too good to be true. When they announce that they are getting married he become a obsessed in finding out the truth about his son in law to be. Some of the lengths that he goes to are insane and crazy.

You never quite know who to believe. Is Ed being over protective and paranoid? Is Ryan hiding something? You need to read this to believe it

Thanks to NetGalley and Bonnier Books UK for my advanced copy of this book to read. All opinions are my own and are in no way biased

This was a gripping read. I have read other books from T M Logan and thoroughly enjoyed them and this one did not disappoint. Very easy to read with lots of suspense along the way. Relatable characters and a face paced storyline makes this a real page turner.

Highly recommended and rightly deserves 5 stars.

Thank you Bonnier Books and Netgalley.

Welcome to my stop on the #BlogTour for T. M. Logan’s latest book – The Catch.

Yet another book that has a fantastic cover design and a great blurb – I seem to be spoiled with books I can’t wait to read lately – long may it continue!

Great cover thou, right?!?

Totally over the top characters, a fairly predictable plot and a mountain of family drama – I couldn’t look away!

I found The Catch by T. M. Logan to be a very easy and very entertaining read. It took me about two days to get through the book, but I’m sure if I had been left alone and didn’t have the fun world of homeschooling and juggling other commitments I wouldn’t have put it down. It was exactly what I needed – a book that completely distracted me from the ongoing global pandemic.

I loved the characters, even if I didn’t like many of them. This wasn’t a book with in-depth great characterisation but instead, it was a binge worth rollercoaster of a drama. The 2 main characters – Ed, the OVER protective Dad and Ryan the gorgeous and handsome yet not quite wholesome future son-in-law played their parts perfectly. T. M. Logan has the knack of writing characters that have a flair for the dramatic. I also loved Abbie (the daughter) although she wasn’t the strongest character and Claire (the mum) who attempted (but failed) to bring a bit of calm to a very crazy plot.

As I mentioned earlier – this was a totally over the top read but in a very good way – I am sure it would make the basis for a great TV series – I’m picturing Ben Badgley as Ryan.

But it wasn’t just the main characters I liked there was a lot of really good details – I feel like I learned something about how easy it is to pop a GPS tracker onto a car or get involved in some shady underground tracking.

The writing was good, the pacing suited the story and the last quarter of the book made for especially compulsive reading. It was an easy book to like and a lot of fun to read. And the ending although it was predictable in many respects, it suited the story and left me eagerly awaiting whatever T. M. Logan writes next. The Catch was a solid crime/thriller read and I would happily recommend it.

I received a copy of The Catch by T. M. Logan from the publisher, via NetGalley for review, which was all arranged by the blog tour organiser – Thank you!

The Catch is available now on Kindle and Audible and it will be published in Paperback from the 11th June.

I am a huge fan of T.M. Logan. I fell in love with his novel 29 Seconds and have devoured all of his books since. Of course, I had to read The Catch.

Beautiful and intelligent Abbie Collier has found love. Ryan has everything for him. Handsome, has a great job, a killer smile, and is seemingly madly in love with Abbie. It’s only natural then for Ryan to meet Abbie’s parents, Claire and Ed.

That first meeting is always tricky, isn’t it? Parents try to assess the new beau, kids look for approval and act as a buffer, and the new addition to the picture knows first impressions stick. Why do we torture ourselves like this?

Ed is the perfect cliché of an over-protective father. But can his family blame him? Yes, Ryan seems to tick all the boxes, but Ed’s gut says otherwise. It only take that first meeting. Quickly, his mind is set. There is something off.

Could this thing have anything to do with Ed and nothing to do with Ryan?

I found Ed’s behavior somehow natural and understandable, at least at first! A guy sweeps your daughter off her feet, and a few months later, you meet him, have to digest a wedding announcement and her moving out of the family house to live her dream life with her beau. I would freak out too. Again, I am glad to be a dog mama. I won’t have this issue. Anyway, Ed… His unease is so strong that it turns into an unhealthy obsession in the matter of a few pages. And I rolled with it. I had the feeling opening the book had been like igniting a car, starting had been me driving from the center to the edge of the city, and bam, 10% in and I was racing on dirt roads with no GPS and no seatbelt! T.M. Logan’s power lies in his gripping writing style. I was totally invested in this father’s deep suspicions and I love chasing after hints. I wanted to spot the teeny tiny detail that would prove Ed right… but at the same time, I wanted Abbie to be happy. After all, everyone else was under Ryan’s spell, so was there anything to find?

HOWEVER! My years of reading crime fiction has made me so paranoid I think the worst of everyone, therefore, I am wary of people every likes. Always will be. BUT it doesn’t mean I am right. Or that Ed is right. The author gives enough material to the reader so we stay on the fence, and Ed’s growingly erratic conduct had me leaning towards an overreaction of the father more than once… Oh what to think!

I found Abbie’s mother’s reaction to all events really grounded and they balanced everything Ed did in such a way that she kept reassuring me I was wrong… I don’t let many characters come close enough to talk me out of an idea, but Claire has arguments, and ways, like any good mother. Abbie I was less sure of. Young and in love, I knew I couldn’t trust her, haha!

T.M. Logan has written another strong novel!

Finally, my first 5 star of the year goes to 'The Catch' by T. M. Logan! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

'The Catch' tells the story of Ed, an overprotective father to 23 year old Abbey, who takes an instant dislike towards her new, seemingly perfect fiancé, Ryan. As Ed tries to prevent Abbey from marrying Ryan, he quickly lets his overprotectiveness overcome him and descents into madness.

I found this to be a really gripping read. Even though I knew what was coming, I couldn't wait to see the events play out.

I much preferred this book to Logan's previous novel, 'The Holiday', and fans of psychological thrillers won't be disappointed!

Is there such a thing as the perfect man? Well, in THE CATCH by T.M. Logan this idea is confronted in haunting detail and will have you second-guessing yourself about how well you can truly know someone.

Ed should be excited. His only daughter, Abby, has arrived home beaming from ear to ear because she has gotten engaged to the most wonderful man, Ryan. They are moving in together and getting hitched within the month and everything is simply perfect. But Ed can't help the feeling that there is something off about Ryan, his soon-to-be son-in-law. Something is lurking in his eyes that tells Ed he is a liar and Ed will stop at nothing to expose him for the fraud he believes him to be. But as Ed begins to wander down a dangerously obsessive path, those that love him start to worry about his mental health. For Ed has always been far too overprotective of Abby after the tragic accident that broke their hearts all those years ago, and when Ed starts doing crazy things in his quest to get rid of Ryan, the whole family begin to fear that Abby having her own life has pushed him over the edge. But Ed believes that he is right about Ryan and Abby could be in very serious danger. Is he right?

THE CATCH by T.M. Logan will take you on a journey of ups and downs where one minute you will be on Ed's side and the next minute find yourself feeling sorry for Ryan whose only crime seems to be loving Abby. The author has a wonderful flair for realistic characters and these characters are no different. They all have their own flaws and secrets but have a way of connecting with the reader that works well. There is an almost uncomfortable tension that slowly built up as the story progressed until I found myself sitting up on the edge of my seat by the end, desperate to uncover the truth - and wow, what an ending!

THE CATCH by T.M. Logan is an exciting and terrifying story about relationships and I cannot wait for more from this talented author.

Good characters and plot. Ideal summer read

I would firstly like to thank Netgalley and the publishers for allowing me the opportunity to read this book in exchange for an honest review.

Diving right into the storyline, this book started off believable, compelling and very interesting to read. The story of a doting father that wants to protect his daughter, and is suspicious of her new boyfriend - a simple, yet highly realistic story.
But the conclusion/reveal actually disappointed me a little. Not only was it rather predictable in some ways, the reasoning behind everything just seemed rather far-fetched, and I just struggled to believe it. I had so many questions!! Overall, worth a read as it does have an subtle warmth and intensity to it, but it's not my favourite book from this author.

This absolutely loves up to T.M Logan's previous novels.

Suspenseful, thrilling and dark. This will keep you guessing until the last moment. T.M Logan is quickly becoming one of my go to authors for thrillers!

Ed and Claire are hosting a Sunday get together for their daughter Abbie and her new boyfriend Ryan. Although they’ve been together a few months, he’s been working away so much they haven’t had chance to spend any time with him. On the face of it Ryan is the perfect candidate to keep Mum and Dad happy. He has a great job, a first-class degree and a past army career with the Anglian Regiment. He’s charming and very good looking. Abbie seems happier than Ed has seen her in a long time. However, there only has to be one catch, and as Ed catches Ryan’s dark eyes they seem endless. However, Ed senses a void behind them and wonders if the man standing in front of him is the real Ryan at all. As Ryan asks for Abbie’s hand in marriage, Ed is horrified. Even worse, they plan to marry in less than six weeks. This leaves Ed very little time to investigate and without much to go on. Like every protective Dad, he’s going to stop at nothing to protect his daughter. Is Ryan simply too good to be true, or is Ed’s obsession with his daughter getting out of hand?

I’m daughter of an overprotective dad, so I bought into the premise immediately. Told largely from Ed’s perspective, this is one of those cliched ‘couldn’t put it down’ books, that I devoured in one day while recovering from a back injury. I trusted Ed as a narrator, but every so often a little clue was popped in there to throw doubt on his character or state of mind. The secret visits to a building near Hooters, his attitude towards Abbie’s previous boyfriend George or the terribly sad family loss that could explain his inability to let go of his daughter. The author keeps the tension going by slowly counting down the days to the wedding. There are also tense set pieces: Ed and Ryan racing through Nottingham traffic at rush hour; Ed letting himself into Ryan’s house only for Ryan to come home unexpectedly; Ryan driving along while Abbie reads through the private investigator’s report.

There are times when it seems Ed is so reckless I thought the obsession might be getting out of hand. In pursuit of Ryan’s past he is mugged on a sink estate and almost arrested for soliciting. His manager is asking for work he doesn’t produce and he looms close to disciplinary action. His relationship with his wife Claire is suffering and she warns him that the more he pursues this, the more he will push their daughter away. Yet Ryan does have some questions to answer. He appears to have no family and isn’t visiting his mum’s grave every other Sunday like he tells Abbie. He visits a drug house regularly and doesn’t appear to have any social media presence before 2013. Ed is willing to spend thousands of pounds on a private investigator in the hope that he will unearth something before the wedding day. I won’t ruin everyone’s read, but the truth, when it is revealed is more far reaching than I imagined. It seems that both men have been in a cat and mouse situation far longer than we realised. The author keeps the story compelling till the very last moments and I enjoyed every minute.

I love T M Logan’s books and this was no exception.
The story centres around one family - Claire, Ed and Abbie.
Abbie brings her new boyfriend to meet her parents and he seems to be a real ‘catch.’ Ed is wary of him and thinks he’s too good to be true but can’t quite put his finger on why he feels this way.
Ed and Claire are then told their daughter is getting married and Ed is determined to find out who Ryan really is before the wedding can go ahead.
I won’t say anymore as I don’t want to spoil the story but I can say, this is a gripping story that pulls you in from the first few pages.
I admit I agreed with Ed that Ryan was too good to be true but was he wrong?
This is a great read that I highly recommend. Thanks to Bonnier Zaffre books and NetGalley for the opportunity to read this book.

Ed’s daughter Abbey brings her new boyfriend Ryan home for the first time and announces that they are engaged and getting married.
Ed has taken an instant dislike to Ryan and feels that there is something seriously wrong with him and decides he will find out what it is at any cost.
This book had me hooked from the beginning and I read it in one day.

Having read all of T.M. Logan’s books so far, I can confidently say that The Catch is his best book so far and definitely my favourite! I loved every moment of this psychological thriller! There were some shocking twists that I didn’t see coming and I love it when that happens. This is a book that will be up there with my favourites by the time 2020 ends I have no doubt.

Ed was a character I felt connected to the minute he was introduced. An overprotective father, no one is really good enough for his “little girl” but it’s not until further into the plot that you realise why he’s like this. When Abbie introduces her new boyfriend Ryan to the family, he charms everyone except Ed who is convinced that Ryan isn’t “the catch” that everyone else seems to think he is. Yes, Ed thinks Ryan is just too good to be true and so there definitely must be “a catch”. I loved the ambiguity of the title here-is Ed just paranoid and looking for flaws where there are none or is Ryan the sociopath that Ed suspects him of being? There are so many twists and turns here that I had no idea!

I certainly don’t want to go any further into the plot than that as the less you know the better with this one. I love how T.M. Logan takes ordinary families in his books and then throws them head first into extraordinary circumstances that test their strengths and morals. Here his characters make decisions that we may or may not agree with but that we know we can’t judge as we haven’t ever been in that situation ourselves so have no idea how we would react! And that’s why I lived through this book alongside Ed, on the edge of my own emotions because who knows what we would do walking in another’s shoes.

Would I recommend this book? Absolutely! It’s a gripping thriller, the ultimate page turner for those who want to be kept on the edge of their seat. A cracking plot that constantly surprised me and with an ending that sent shivers down my spine. Brilliant!

Brilliant read. This author never disappoints with his psychological thrillers. I was hooked from the start as the tension and intrigue grew with every page. As the plot deepened there were several heart pounding moments . I couldn't read the pages of this book fast enough.

Abbie brings home Ryan to meet her parents, George and Claire, as she is madly in love and wants to share her excitement. Although Ryan is wonderful, good looking, rich, generous, caring and everything a parent wishes for their child, George is not convinced. George starts to investigate Ryan to prove he isn't quite the catch Abbie believes.
Oh wow does this book suck you in. It was so gripping and one of my favourite books this year. Inside my head I could see it play out as a film.
Thank you to netgalley and the publishers for this arc in exchange for my honest review.

As I started reading this I wasn’t sure if I was going to like it as it felt a bit slow but once I got to about 70% through it became much more fast paced and actually the story up to this point had been building a lot of suspense. Recommend!

This is the first TM Logan book I read, and probably won't be the last. Logan has an ability to write a thriller which grips and makes you want to keep turning pages until the story plays out, even if you know it's all going to be a terribly grisly end.
Ed's daughter has brought her new boyfriend to meet her parents, and has some exciting news to announce - they're engaged! And the wedding is coming soon! Ed's not so happy, though. Overprotective of his only daughter and burned by not trusting his instincts in the past, he knows there's something not quite right about Ryan, and he sets out to prove this to his only child. He knows there's something up with Ryan Wilson, and he's willing to go to any lengths to protect Abbie, his daughter.
I quite enjoyed this book, and read the majority of it in one sitting. Ed's a fairly likeable protagonist, although his chapters are interspersed with others' perspectives, which is jarring, as he's in first person, and they're in third person. Ryan, the central 'baddie' of the book is somewhat dull. He seems really too good to be true, and Ed isn't smart at all as he goes about investigating his future son-in-law. He takes against Ryan based on a 'look' in the back of his eyes. And then proceeds on a campaign of terror that changes all of their lives forever.
I was very much in mixed minds about this one. On the one hand, I found it quite compelling, and was turning pages eagerly - I actually stayed up until half two to finish this, as I wanted to see how it ended. On the other hand, I was consistently frustrated with Ed, as he never really seemed to think through his decisions, but there wasn't really any justification for that. I realise the timelines of the book required a certain amount of urgency in his actions - because the wedding is approaching rapidly - but he seems always to dive in headfirst and not think about what his potential consequences might be. There were also a few events which stretched credibility very, very thin.
I did enjoy this book, but it did have me rolling my eyes a few times as well . It was refreshing to read a domestic noir where the suspicious parent is the father, I don't think I've read one of those lately. I'll definitely be looking out for other TM Logan books in the future.

I read this book in almost one sitting and totally devoured it! Maybe it was a bit predictable in the end, and could have been written in a much darker style, but that didn’t spoil the enjoyment, surprise and the twists and turns along the way.

Thoroughly recommended.
