So when you don't read a book when you first receive it, you finally get it read only to find out there are 9 more to read already! That means I have a lot of good reading to look forward to!! Because other than one little misstep (I think), this was a solid story with some great characters! The story was gripping, though might be a bit gruesome for some readers! Character development was terrific but still managed to leave room for more in future installments. But I do wish we had learned more about what made the criminal do these things. I liked that not all story arcs were resolved. Thank goodness there is another book already written for me to read! I guess that is the silver lining in my procrastination!

Due to a sudden, unexpected passing in the family a few years ago and another more recently and my subsequent (mental) health issues stemming from that, I was unable to download this book in time to review it before it was archived as I did not visit this site for several years after the bereavements. This meant I didn't read or venture onto netgalley for years as not only did it remind me of that person as they shared my passion for reading, but I also struggled to maintain interest in anything due to overwhelming depression. I was therefore unable to download this title in time and so I couldn't give a review as it wasn't successfully acquired before it was archived. The second issue that has happened with some of my other books is that I had them downloaded to one particular device and said device is now defunct, so I have no access to those books anymore, sadly.

This means I can't leave an accurate reflection of my feelings towards the book as I am unable to read it now and so I am leaving a message of explanation instead. I am now back to reading and reviewing full time as once considerable time had passed I have found that books have been helping me significantly in terms of my mindset and mental health - this was after having no interest in anything for quite a number of years after the passings. Anything requested and approved will be read and a review written and posted to Amazon (where I am a Hall of Famer & Top Reviewer), Goodreads (where I have several thousand friends and the same amount who follow my reviews) and Waterstones (or Barnes & Noble if the publisher is American based). Thank you for the opportunity and apologies for the inconvenience.

There are already 9 books in this series and I had read them all, but this one. Yes, I know. It's typical me, but I don't mind.

I do admit I wondered how it all began, but I knew that one day I would learn about it and I did. Mystery solved. :) ;)

This story describes the day the world of one of our main characters, Casey, fell apart. We see how this colors her life which is only natural, but it also makes her determined, never wanting to give up before she gets to the bottom of things.

Helping to solve a very delicate and heart breaking case, she teams up with Jericho, someone who will not only be important in her professional life but in her personal life as well

I felt for Casey and I lived through the same emotions she did. The not knowing, the is it or is it not feeling must have driven her crazy.

I enjoyed the story a lot and I assure you this is the start to a very, very good series. 5 stars

Thank you

3 Stars!

This is going to be an awesome series! Book 1 introduces us to Detective Casey White, who is on a mission to find her daughter that was kidnapped 14 years ago when she gets dragged into a case in the Outer Banks. Casey is a fantastic leading lady and I can't wait to read the rest of her adventures. The setting of the Outer Banks is beautiful and serene. I hope to see Casey and Jericho's relationship blossom in book 2 and find out more of his backstory.

There were just a few things that I noticed that might not be correct but I'm not a police officer or a coroner, so I'm not sure. When Casey is asked to process the scene, it seemed as though she was doing what the crime scene technicians and the coroner would be doing. Also, I had a hard time believing that the ADA would tell the public via a press conference that two ongoing cases were linked.

The plot was really twisty and I loved how everything came together in the end. Looking forward to devouring book 2.

A special thank you to NetGalley, Bookouture, and B.R. Spangler for providing me with an ARC.

“Help me,” the girl cries, alone in the forest, shivering in her nightB R Spangler but I will be looking for more by this authorgown, her small frame almost lost between the trees. “Please.”

When Detective Casey White discovers the body of a beautiful teenage girl in a white nightgown near the shoreline in North Carolina’s Outer Banks, a familiar fear floods through her. Could this be Hannah, her sweet, blue-eyed daughter snatched from home fourteen years ago? But it only takes one look to confirm that the girl with dark bruising around her throat is another family’s tragedy.

Putting her own grief aside, Casey digs into unsolved missing child cases in the area. The victim is Cheryl Parry, one of two little girls taken during a family beach vacation nine years ago. Her sister’s body was found strangled a week later, but someone has been keeping Cheryl alive—until now.

A really good story which was well written with great characters. Casey and Jericho were both very likeable. this is my first experience with B R Spangler but I will be looking for more by this author. A big thank you to Netgalley, Bookouture and the author for giving me the opportunity to read an advance copy of Where Lost Girls Go.

When Detective Casey White's actions on duty cause her to be placed on leave, she decides to follow the clues that could help her find her daughter. 14 years prior, her daughter was kidnapped. Current crimes against young girls point Casey to a community that seems to be harboring dark secrets. As she works with local law enforcement officials, she finds more questions than answers.
This is the 1st book in a new series. BR Spangler has done the due diligence to give us well defined, likable characters and set them into a back story that will bridge this book to the next. All the while providing us a first rate mystery that readers will enjoy.

Good start to a new series which I can't wait to read more of. Detective Casey White is a great lead character. While the book doesn't end how you might expect it's a great continuing story arc for the series. This police procedural with a touch of romance and suspense has a few twists and turns and delves into some pretty touchy subjects that were handled well within the story.

I loved this book, Casey is a great character and her persistence in solving a case, especially her own is on another level. I am looking forward to reading more about Casey.

Well written, fast paced and an exceptionally good read.

A intriguing police procedural whose lead Detective Casey White caught my eye.

My first book by this author and I was found myself hooked to the story when a woman covered in blood rushed to Casey for help. Casey joined hands with the sheriff and started investigating when body count increased.

Having read many police procedural in this year, I liked how the book was treated it had its usual unexpected twists with detailed subplots. Casey was etched well, her past was in shadows with a kidnapped child. I would love to know where the author went in the second book.

Overall, a thrilling read.

#NetGalley #Where Lost Girls Go: A totally addictive mystery and suspense novel (Detective Casey White Book #1) #Bookouture

Casey is a detective on a forced vacation from work. While on vacation she will be working a missing person case that she has been working for years. The case is that of her daughter, Hannah. Hannah was kidnapped from her front yard as a toddler fourteen years earlier.
.
New information on Hannah's case has brought her to the Outer Banks, a wrong turn leads her to find a badly injured young woman. The woman runs out of the woods and into the road, she is wearing only a old fashioned style white night gown, she is also covered in blood. Casey takes the young woman to the local hospital, there she meets Jericho. Jericho is the former Sheriff, he currently works as a marine patrol officer. The local police are short staffed, Jericho and his team get approval for Casey to help them on a case they just received. Two young women are discovered dead on a yacht. As the bodies of more young women are found it is starting to look like they have a serial killer on the loose. This is a very well written story with many twists and turns. I look forward to reading the next installment in the series.

I was given the chance to read the ARC for an honest review from Netgalley and Bookouture, thank you!

I was hooked after the first chapter! "Help me," the girl cries, alone in the forest, shivering in her nightgown, her small frame almost lost between the trees. "Please."

Detective Casey White has to put her own grief aside and help with an unsolved missing child case in an area she's not familiar with. Her own daughter was snatched out of her reach 14 years ago and since she has been working around the clock to find her. Could this new case be connected to the disappearance of her daughter Hannah?

An absolutely unputdownable crime thriller with twists and turns that will have you racing through the pages.

I love me a new series, and Casey White is a force to be reckoned with. She is somewhat of a conundrum. Driven by a past tragedy, she is laser-focused but single-minded (to the point of potentially grave on-the-job errors). She is also incredibly tenacious. I can’t remember the last time I read about a heroine who had so many “incidents.” The subject matter may be difficult to read about, but something that people should be paying more attention to because it’s occurring on a global scale. I am definitely looking forward to future investigations with this detective! For a full review, please visit Fireflies and Free Kicks. Thank you to NetGalley and Bookouture for a digital ARC of this book.

This first in a new series featuring Detective Casey White has it all -- kidnapping, trafficking, sex crimes, rape, abuse, and romance! I believe there is a new title: WHERE LOST GIRLS GO. The copy I read was titled TAKEN FROM HOME.

Casey leaves her apartment and job in Philadelphia after she made a mistake at work to take some time off. She travels to North Carolina and the Outer Banks, but it's not really for a vacation. Casey is searching for her missing daughter, Hannah, who had been kidnapped in front of the family home over 14 years ago. Almost immediately upon arrival, she's catapulted into a very complicated series of cases involving young women. Their bodies have been found in different places under unusual circumstances. As she helps the local police along with Jericho Flynn of the Marine Patrol, the events reveal a staggering amount of all types of criminal activity. NO SPOILERS.

I read this in a single sitting and it was quite action-packed and so much going on in the narrative. As always, at the beginning of a new series, it takes time to warm to the characters. I haven't quite decided what I think about them yet. I vacillated in giving a rating because, although the plot was good, I had some issues with quite a bit of all that happened, the coincidences (you will need to suspend disbelief at times), and of course, the fact that I had a solid idea of what was going on long before the revelations at the climax and conclusion. I definitely plan to read the next installment, however, to see what comes next in that hotbed of illegal and unlawful behaviors in a popular tourist area. Also, I know it's just me, but I didn't like the instant romance aspect and some of the dumb things Casey chose to do. But, let's face it, that's typical in this genre especially with female detectives!

Thank you to NetGalley and Bookouture for this e-book ARC to read and review.

Casey White is a detective haunted by the disappearance of her own daughter when she was a baby. A fatal mistake will force her to take leave of absence, and she decides to travel to North Carolina’s Outer Banks.

Casey decides to investigate unsolved missing children cases in the area when she makes a brutal discovery: the body of Cheryl Parry, a missing child who had disappeared along with her sister many years ago. While her sister’s body appeared a few days after the kidnapping, someone had kept Cheryl alive until now.

Armed with the belief that she can help solve the riddle, Casey and her team work as hard as they can to find out who the serial kidnapper is. Then one day, Casey finds a buried charm bracelet identical to the one her daughter used to wear…

Where Lost Girls Go is told from Casey White’s point of view, who I’d describe as a strong, determined woman and incredibly likeable. You can really feel her pain and also humbling reality that she uses her own daughter’s kidnapping as determination to save other children.

As the blurb suggest, this novel contains very dark, and upsetting themes, although is light enough to enjoy it. The story is such a roller coaster and I found myself turning page after page to find out who the serial killer was and what happened to Casey’s own daughter.

A very strong debut for a promising series, and I look forward to the next Detective Casey White installment!

Disclosure: I would like to thank Bookouture for an uncorrected advanced review copy of Where Lost Girls Go. This ISBN may also be published as Taken From Home in some areas. This is my honest review.
