This is book 5 in the Serafina series and while this could be read as a stand alone, I recommend that you read the previous books before reading this one so that you can meet these characters and understand all the different relationships. In this one we finally get Logan and Grace's story! Grace came to Vegas to have a fresh start after the way her ex left her. And when making a new group of friend's, she meet's Logan. And they become the best of friend's, even if she secretly daydreams about more with him. But she also believes that Logan is a player and she doesn't want to get hurt again. Especially when she knows that he could hold her whole heart. Logan's reputation is more than exaggerated. And he never really cared, until he met Grace. Now he is just trying to gain her trust and show her that he is more than his reputation. And that he wants her for the long haul. But when someone starts targeting them both, not only will he keep her safe but he will show her what they could have together if she could just take a chance.

I really liked this one! Logan is this stand up guy who yes likes to flirt. But he never takes things further that. He knows what he wants and works towards it, no matter what he has to do. I loved him! He is super protective but he is also loving and sweet. Grace has been through things that no woman should have to go through. And it definitely left it's scars on her. My only drawback with her was that she couldn't seem to see that Logan was different even though she is his "best friend". But once they figured out their issues? Beautiful couple and relationship! This one seemed to have everything-action, laughter, love, and truly caring people. Another great read!

Deadly Surrender by Katie Reus

Book 5 of the Serafina Casino Sin City series. Romantic suspense. Can be read as a stand-alone.
I loved that this couple were friends and already crushing on each other. One of my favorite troupes. That he wasn’t giving up and was sensitive enough to give her space to come to terms with their new relationship was very intuitive.

Without spoilers, this author does follow a pretty consistent pattern. I always want to yell at the couple that think everything is solved and then go about their regular lives. Stop! Here is still danger! But they never hear me and the twist takes them by surprise.
A favorite author of mine.

Excerpt:
“Logan’s gaze fell to her mouth and suddenly his expression was pure heat and hunger.
It took her off guard with its intensity. Heat blossomed inside her and she nearly jerked back in surprise when he leaned down and brushed his lips over hers. The kiss was far too fleeting, his lips grazing hers and leaving her burning up inside and wanting more as he pulled back. The place was completely inappropriate—she didn’t want to get run over by skaters—but she still wanted more.
She stared at him in surprise, nearly losing her balance. But he took her arm and they pushed off again. “Were your parents watching?” she murmured, wondering at the show of affection.
“No. You looked adorable and I wanted to kiss you.” He said it so matter-of-fact, as if of course that was why he’d done it.
Her cheeks heated up and she didn’t know how to respond at all, so she looked away, focusing on the ice in front of her and not falling. It was difficult when she felt as if he’d imprinted her with that simple kiss. They’d done a whole lot more than that a month ago, but that kiss had felt…so intimate.”

This story is part of a series but I read it without knowing the others I hadn’t any problem.
First of all, I truly enjoy that this book is refreshing and entertaining even though you saw this kind of story a lot.
Is refreshing because Logan is not the typical dude who is a big player and he doesn’t know his true feelings.
In this book you can see the two parts of a crush that neither of the parts know that the other one feels the same love.
It has a little of suspense and action you can see the two characters running from a guy who wants revenge but you know they avenger until the final, I have to tall I was a little disappointed because of who was but it was only that.
The character.
Grace
Is a tough and intelligent woman who was hurt by her fiancé and know when it starts to feel something for Logan doubt it so much that it may ruin their relationship.
I like her because even with all the situation of a killer looking for them never surrendered and always trust in Logan.
She has so much lust for Logan that makes me laugh, and I understand it!
Also was refreshing that she wasn’t stagnant in an old love, she was ready for something new even if she didn’t know.
Logan
He is the sexy, careful and protective guy who felt in love of her friend since the first day.
Is something good when he isn’t the typical bad guy, instead he cares about the feelings of Grace and was looing for tell her his truly feelings.
Logan’s job is be in the security team of a big fish in Las Vegas, that’s why he gets involved in this situation of running from a killer.
I fancy that he was so afraid of the well being of Grace, and that when he saw an opportunity to be with Grace he didn’t hesitate to act.
Conclusion.
There are some sexy and sweet scenes between them and also there are some funny parts that you will enjoy so much.
This kind of book I recommended it a lot because they are short and easy reading that you can enjoy in a few afternoons.
Also, if you want to get distracted for this situation that is happening this day this is the perfect book and you won’t regret.

Deadly Surrender is the fifth book in Katie Reus’s The Serafina: Sin City series. It IS a standalone book, though I always recommend a series for a richer reading experience. I’m a long-time fan of Ms. Reus, and I have never read a book of hers that I’ve yet to hate…or even dislike a little bit. And I can still say that after reading this book.

Grace and Logan have a great friendship. And despite her attraction to Logan, Grace doesn’t want to risk losing that friendship. But when trouble comes, she realizes that sometimes it’s worth the risk to let go and let love in.

NICUnurse’s Rating: It’s sometimes hard to come up with something new to say when it comes to the authors I truly love to read their books. And Katie Reus is definitely high up on that list. She’s there for a reason––she always delivers a good romantic suspense story. Deadly Surrender was a great read from page one, and I literally didn’t put it down until I was at the end. Pretty much par for the course for her books! It was fast-paced, with many twists and turns and a few steamy scenes, and a happily ever after at the end. The perfect equation for a fabulous romantic suspense! Honestly, I know I’ve said it before but I’ll say it again…it’s really hard to go wrong with any book by Katie Reus!

I give Deadly Surrender 4.5 out of 5 stars!

Deadly Surrender is a story of contrasts. Good vs evil and shades of gray. This is a bodyguard tale with a twist and thoroughly enjoyable. Everybody knows a guy like Logan. Gorgeous, always friendly, flirty and smiling but nobody takes him seriously. But he is dead set serious about making Grace his own. I really enjoyed this bodyguard to lovers story because who can resist Logan determined. I liked that he isn’t all powerful but he does his very best.

Rating: 3.5 stars

Though this book struck a major high note with me in regards to Logan, the alpha protective good guy hero, Grace, the heroine rather ruined it for me. You see, he was determined to finally take their great friendship to the next level he’s patiently been wanting for a long time...love. But first, he has to convince this knucklehead, hand wringing, insecure, doubting Thomas woman to give him a chance. Yeah, I get she’s got emotional baggage from her ex-fiance, but from someone who claims to respect/think so highly of Logan, she made some low life assumptions. The guy deserved better and more credit, folks. I found him to be incredibly awesome. Heck, he’s even been celibate for quite a while before and after meeting Grace. So you know she had not seen him chasing after other women. He’s had time to already prove his good character. She should judge him on the man she knows him to be now, not based on rumors from his past. I found myself wondering why he thought she was so special. After all, she became the user here by accepting smexy between the sheets with him knowing she would be rejecting his heart in the long run.

The writing itself just didn’t quite measure up to what I normally expect of this author, either. Despite throwing in a couple, near miss, life-threatening situations, I was surprisingly bored. It just did not feel like a whole lot of effort or thought was put into regarding certain aspects, especially with the bad guy drama. Steam often replaced the lackluster plot/weak concept for a believable, evil bad guy scenario. Her “I’m not exciting/good enough for him” mantra got old.

Don't get me wrong. As usual, she gave us a totally awesome, protective hero I absolutely loved see get his leading lady love. His determination and willingness to put his heart on the line was sweet. The rest just didn't live up to my expectations.

The shirtless cover pretty much says it all. At least how Grace perceived Logan. He seems to be striking a Ken Barbie doll pose. Yeah, he's got a hot muscular body. How could we forget? Too often Grace went on and on about those muscles and how they could never be more than friends, because he’d dump her eventually. Her doubts, fears, insecurities became annoying. I wanted to tap her on the shoulder and tell her to get over herself and give love a chance.

For me, this book played out repetitive and robotic. Here’s to hoping others really enjoy it. I am normally a huge fan of this author. I certainly wish her continued writing success. This book seemed geared for those looking for a quick lusty/steamy read featuring a great alpha good guy and don't overly care about the rest being just an average read.

Title: Deadly Surrender, Series: The Serafina: Sina City (Book 5), Author: Katie Reus, Pages: 241, stand-alone but part of a series, very steamy scenes, alpha protective good guy hero, sweet/hand wringing/too insecure of herself heroine, ex-fiance makes a brief appearance, no OW/OM drama, no love triangle, romance safe, years before meeting the heroine he briefly was a manho.

Katie Reus, as always, didn't disappoint me. She packs a lot in a quick read but it isn't too much either. We finally get Logan's story and he is fantastic. I don't think she's written a bad hero. This is a friends to lovers story which I think works best in a shorter book. This got me out of my book slump.

Wow Katie Reus really knows how to weave all the romantic, intense and suspenseful elements together to tell one heck of a story! Add in the incredible characters she develops and you have yourself a fantastic series going on.
Grace and Logan have unbelievable chemistry and are very attracted to each other. They are also very good friends. The fear to mess that up and take their relationship to the next level is real for both of them. More so for Grace. Logan knows what he wants but he needs to convince Grace he is a safe bet. Until a different kind of fear for their lives accelerates them to that next level for fear they may lose that opportunity and each other.
Unfortunately I have not read the other books in this series but I will certainly remedy that having read this amazing book and meeting some of the other characters!

Deadly Surrender is the fifth book in Katie Reus’ The Serafina: Sin City Series. It is a suspenseful romance novel filled with fantastic characters, a great storyline, no cheating and a happily ever after.

Grace and Logan have been friends since she came to Las Vegas after breaking up with her ex-fiancée. They are intensely attracted to one another but both fear rejection and losing their strong friendship. But when someone begins targeting them and things turn deadly, Logan and Grace quickly realize that they must fight to keep themselves and the love that’s growing between them alive.

This book can be read as a standalone, but when read in order, a greater appreciation for the series is achieved. Reus does an excellent job weaving old and introducing new characters into the Serafina: Sin City series. I can’t wait to read the next book in this series!

Getting too close could end their friendship...but being apart could end their lives.

Deadly Surrender takes you on Grace and Logan's journey as they navigate their feelings for one another while trying to outrun the person trying to kill them. I enjoyed this story, however, I just wish there would have been more action and that it hadn't wrapped so quickly! I wanted to know more about each of their pasts and see the action scenes play out a little longer. Overall, this was a good read, and I will most likely read the rest of the series to learn more about their social circle. This was my first read in the Sin City series, and I don't believe I missed too much having not read the other books in the series prior to this one.

Thank you to NetGalley and KR Press for an advanced copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

I'm so glad for the revisit to this series. I really wanted Logan's story and it doesn't disappoint. I have to admit he was so much more than I expected. The friends to lovers aspect between him and Grace is fun, sweet, and sexy. The romance is the focus in this one. There is a touch of suspense to the mystery of who keeps trying to kill them, however, it isn't as big of a part of the book as it is in the earlier books in the series. I really think this book is for the fans and the author gave us the love story we hoped for for Logan. Appearances by favorite characters is a bonus.

I love Katie Reus's work and this particular series is one of my favourites so I was delighted when I saw we where returning. This is Logan and Graces story

Grace is definitely gun shy been stood up at the alter will do that to you and she definitely isn't going to take up with a known playboy and flirt like Logan He is perfect friend material but he will never be anything else The only thing is he is determined that she will be his and the reputation he has isn't who he is anymore Can he convince her that he is the man for her and that he is all in. When danger threatens them and they don;t know if it someone after her or him he will step up to keep her safe and all his alpha tendencies will come to the fore. Can he keep her safe and can he break down her walls You will have to read to see

I really loved this book. It was so refreshing to have a different take on a friends to lovers romance. I loved that the book started out with both of them crazy about each other but neither had any clue. Their chemistry was adorable and I just loved them as a couple. The one thing I will say is that Most of the story line revolves around the main characters Grace and Logan running from this treat, I was slightly disappointed by the reveal, I wish there had been more detail. But I truly enjoyed the book and it was a pleasure to read.

It's been a while since we've caught up with the Serafina gang, but I just loved this installment! Logan and Grace are perfect together, and I just adored them. I love that Ms. Reus's books move quickly quickly so tropes like the fake girlfriend storyline didn't feel dragged out at all. I really enjoyed the development of their relationship. There was just enough suspense and twists and turns to keep things exciting. A solid 5 star read!

Katie Reus writes keeping her readers guessing and Deadly Surrender is no exception. When Logan MacNeil protects Grace, she may think he is only doing his job, Logan knows he needs to make Grace realize it's worth the risk to explore their attraction. When danger comes calling, Logan is bound and determined to protect Grace. This book keeps you guessing as to who is behind the threats on their life and in Katie Reus fashion, ends big.

4.25⭐

Katie Reus returns to the Serafina Series with Deadly Surrender; and it certainly was a suspenseful story. That grabbed me from the very beginning, and never let go. Thanks to the characters, the setting, the romance and the storyline. And with some heat and sweetness not to mention a few appearances from characters who appeared in the previous stories this really was an enjoyable and absorbing read. And it's one I would happily recommend to others.

Katie Reus did not disappoint. This series and this book are pure perfection. Strong, alpha male in love with a strong minded female makes this book swoon worthy. 10 stars!!

I was intrigued by the blurb and decided to read the book. Unfortunately, the book didn’t met my expectations. I expected it to be full of danger and action, some of it of course was there, but the writing was a bit off for me. I just couldn’t completely dive into the book and put on pause all my thoughts while reading. The book just didn’t click with me.
Thanks to the publisher, author and Netgalley for the kindly provided ARC, all opinions are mine.

This is a great book! I was just do sure I knew who the bad guy was. Over and over again I switched back and forth between the bad guys. And I was wrong every time. I love it when I can't see who it is. Such a finely crafted tale of suspense and romance.
