Loved this book, especially the dialogue between Jack and Elena.

It starts with a case of mistaken identity, when Elena thinks she is on a blind date with a TV weatherman. when Jack realises her mistake and that she doesn't recognise him, he doesn't want to admit it. He is shy but everyone thinks he is just rude - will he let Elena in?

Great that it is told from both of their points of view, so you understand how they are feeling. The sections about Jack's childhood were so sad.

If I could, I'd give it more than 5 stars!

Looking forward to the next book in this series.

Oh my gosh! This book!

As soon as I read the description for this book I knew I had to read it. Its exactly my favourite kind to read.

One mistaken identity leads to an unexpected future, that’s what Jack and Elena are soon about to find out.

Oh Jack, as much as I loved him I also wanted to shake the stupid out of him I understood where his wariness came from but the way he wouldn’t listen to anything irked me so bad but other than that, that man is brave, so so brave. He’s had to endure a devastating past that’s left him being the way he is. He’s a fighter and I loved him so much.

Elena is the kind of woman to fight for what she knows she wants. She won’t give up unless it’s completely necessary. shes beautiful and talented and filled with so much love.

Oh oh oh and the star of the show, Romeo, a beautiful piggy hehe I loved him.

I won’t go into too much detail about the storyline but I will say parts of it are hard to read, your heart is left aching and other parts hit you straight in the gut. It makes you feel like you’re going through exactly what they are and has the tears forming in the eyes, madness.

I’ve been a fan of this authors writing for a while now and every new one I read just gets better and better. This beauty was well written and plays with your emotions, it’s the perfect kind of book.

I sincerely hope we get books from Jack’s teammates in the future because they’re intriguing.

Not My Romeo is a sports romance, with a case of mistaken identity and a dash of second chances. It’s heartbreaking and beautiful all wrapped into one big rollercoaster ride of emotions, I loved it.

Sports Romance Meets Small Town Romance!

Elena mistakes the hottest and most controversial quarterback for her blind date. Jack is immediately intrigued by this woman who sits down at his table and seems to think he’s her date. Neither of them could have guessed just how fated their meeting was.

I absolutely adored this story! From the Romeo and Juliet roles, to Jack’s teammates and Elena’s family meddling with the best of intentions, to the exploration of both Jack and Elena’s emotional baggage every aspect of the story hit the perfect note! And the sexy times and dirty talk were on point!

This was my first Ilsa Madden-Mills book but will absolutely not be my last!

I received a complimentary review copy of this book but all opinions are my own.

Not my first read by this author and I have always loved her books, but Not My Romeo was something special. I LOVED this book.

I adored how Elena and Jack meet. Elena is on a blind date and doesn't know what her date looks like, beyond the fact that he is supposed to be wearing a blue shirt. Low and behold, sexy football star Jack, eating alone in a restaurant and wearing a blue shirt. Elena has no idea who he is which intrigues Jack, weary of people who are constantly after him because of who he is.

This book was filled with heat, humor, emotion, and so much swoon!! 😍 🔥 💞 I highly recommend!!

A binge worthy story!

It’s been a while since I read a story where the heroine wasn’t your supermodel type of hot. Elena was on the curvier side which made me connect with her more. Rooting completely for her even when she stumbles.

Elena is a fire cracker through and through. I loved that so much about here. I also hated how that dimmed down completely when it came to her family who could be really overwhelming at times. Never stood her ground when she needed to with them. Yet with Jack she put up walls so fast. Walls that shouldn’t of been there for the sake of their development. It was definitely a flaw of hers, but no one is perfect and that makes her more relatable. Although the NDA thing bugged the heck out of me from her!

Jack, gotta love the guy. A tough nut to crack but little why little he starts living his life. He’s cautious and no one can blame him. He has his own walls that Elena breaks down easily but just as easily they go back up when there’s a small hitch in the road. When he finally allowed himself to love, it was magical from then on. I did like his developing relationship with his rival teammate. So to me he was a work in progress type of guy.

I enjoyed this story, the steam factor was definitely there and then some. I caught myself laughing at scenarios constantly as well.

Ending was rushed completely which also bugged me completely but we get a nice HEA.

This book is about Jack and how hard it is for him to trust. Jack is full on angst, but so hurt he hides behind the walls he’s built. You will love when those start to fall.

I love Elena. She’s just so real. Their meeting was hilarious, and everything that follows. She falls in love with him in a second, and I was in tears at his inner monologue.

The aftermath of desolation is truly written beautifully. To be able to feel that and tear up just proves how talented this author is. This story was beautifully written.

P.S. Aunt Clara wanting full on vampire sex scenes. Elena recommends JR Ward! One of my favorite Vampire series. OMG! Loved this! I want to be a part of the Daisy Lady Gang!

“𝙄 𝙨𝙡𝙚𝙥𝙩 𝙬𝙞𝙩𝙝 𝙖 𝙛𝙖𝙢𝙤𝙪𝙨 𝙛𝙤𝙤𝙩𝙗𝙖𝙡𝙡 𝙥𝙡𝙖𝙮𝙚𝙧.”
“𝙃𝙚 𝙨𝙩𝙤𝙡𝙚 𝙢𝙮 𝙥𝙖𝙣𝙩𝙞𝙚𝙨.”

First things first, a huge thanks to Jessica Preeg at Amazon Publishing and Montlake Romance for a chance to read this book way, way early. My romance book loving soul is grateful for that. 'Not My Romeo' is the first book in the brand new Game Changers series by Ilsa Madden-Mills and I lovedddddddd it. Honest to God, this is one of the funniest and sexiest book I have read in a long, long time and definitely one of my favorite books by the author.

“𝙃𝙤𝙬’𝙨 𝙖 𝙥𝙡𝙖𝙞𝙣, 𝙢𝙤𝙨𝙩𝙡𝙮 𝙞𝙣𝙣𝙤𝙘𝙚𝙣𝙩 𝙜𝙞𝙧𝙡 𝙡𝙞𝙠𝙚 𝙢𝙚 𝙨𝙪𝙥𝙥𝙤𝙨𝙚𝙙 𝙩𝙤 𝙧𝙚𝙨𝙞𝙨𝙩 𝙖 𝙢𝙖𝙣 𝙡𝙞𝙠𝙚 𝙝𝙞𝙢?”

The story follows Elena, a small town librarian and Jack, a pro football star. They crosses path on Valentine's day when Elena mistakes Jack for her blind date. By the time realization dawns, it was too late. The 'weatherman' was infatuated with the redhead bombshell. When Jack rescues Elena from an awkward encounter with her two timing ex, she decides to throw caution to the wind and they spend the night exploring their awesome chemistry. But the path to true love never runs smooth or so they say.

“𝙒𝙚𝙖𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙧𝙢𝙖𝙣, 𝙬𝙝𝙚𝙧𝙚 𝙖𝙧𝙚 𝙢𝙮 𝙥𝙖𝙣𝙩𝙞𝙚𝙨?”

Elena eventually realizes that her 'Greg' is not really a 'weatherman' but a famous quaterback and a panty stealer lol. At first she was upset about the whole thing but it's not like they were gonna meet each again right? Well they wouldn't have if wasn't for fate and Shakespeare lol.

“𝙈𝙮 𝙡𝙤𝙫𝙚 𝙖𝙨 𝙙𝙚𝙚𝙥, 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙢𝙤𝙧𝙚 𝙄 𝙜𝙞𝙫𝙚 𝙩𝙤 𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙚. 𝙏𝙝𝙚 𝙢𝙤𝙧𝙚 𝙄 𝙝𝙖𝙫𝙚, 𝙛𝙤𝙧 𝙗𝙤𝙩𝙝 𝙖𝙧𝙚 𝙞𝙣𝙛𝙞𝙣𝙞𝙩𝙚. 𝙁𝙤𝙧𝙚𝙫𝙚𝙧.”

On a serious note, I can't praise it enough. The writing is flawless, the plot is catchy and the chemistry between the two main characters is sizzling. What captured my attention and kept me going is the amazing banter. This book has some serious laugh out loud moments. Last but not the least, the Romeo and Juliet angle is a stroke of genius. If you are a fan of sweet and sexy rom coms or sports romance or small town romance then do yourself a favor and read this book. Jack and Elena gave me all the feels and I can't wait for the rest of the books in the series.

“𝙎𝙝𝙚’𝙨 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙜𝙞𝙧𝙡 𝙖 𝙢𝙖𝙣 𝙙𝙧𝙚𝙖𝙢𝙨 𝙤𝙛 𝙛𝙞𝙣𝙙𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙨𝙤𝙢𝙚𝙙𝙖𝙮 . . . 𝙚𝙫𝙚𝙧𝙮𝙩𝙝𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙄 𝙖𝙡𝙬𝙖𝙮𝙨 𝙬𝙖𝙣𝙩𝙚𝙙.”

Until next time. Happy reading.

P.S. I wonder what happened to Greg lol.

Not My Romeo by Ilsa Madden-Mills is a lighthearted, feel-good, rom-com with a small-town feel! Told in dual POV, a blind date, mistaken identity, and a fated encounter is just the start of Not My Romeo.

❝𝑊𝑒 𝑤𝑒𝑟𝑒 𝑎𝑙𝑤𝑎𝑦𝑠 𝑚𝑒𝑎𝑛𝑡 𝑡𝑜 𝑏𝑒. 𝑇ℎ𝑒𝑟𝑒 𝑎𝑟𝑒 𝑡𝑜𝑜 𝑚𝑎𝑛𝑦 𝑡ℎ𝑖𝑛𝑔𝑠 𝑡ℎ𝑎𝑡 𝑏𝑟𝑜𝑢𝑔ℎ𝑡 𝑢𝑠 𝑡𝑜𝑔𝑒𝑡ℎ𝑒𝑟. 𝐼𝑓 𝑑𝑒𝑠𝑡𝑖𝑛𝑦 𝑏𝑟𝑜𝑢𝑔ℎ𝑡 𝑢𝑠 𝑡𝑜𝑔𝑒𝑡ℎ𝑒𝑟, 𝑡ℎ𝑎𝑡 𝑚𝑒𝑎𝑛𝑠 𝑠ℎ𝑒’𝑙𝑙 𝑓𝑖𝑔ℎ𝑡 𝑡𝑜 ℎ𝑒𝑙𝑝 𝑢𝑠 𝑡𝑜𝑔𝑒𝑡ℎ𝑒𝑟.❞

Jack Hawke is an NFL quarterback with a tragic past who’s image isn’t as squeaky clean as his PR would like it after his recent ex wrote a tell-all book full of lies about him. He’s built his walls up sky high and doesn’t trust easily, but his connection with Elena just won’t leave him alone. Leave it to a sexy little small-town librarian to breach those walls! Gahhh I love this big ol’ teddy bear with a heart of gold! He’s an athlete but yet he’s super shy. What a contradiction right? Oh, and the man listens to POP! Lol, seriously Justin Beiber, Taylor Swift, just to name a few! LOL, When he danced and sang in front of Elena to take her mind off her scraped up knees… *sigh* I fell for him even more.

❝𝐿𝑒𝑡’𝑠 𝑗𝑢𝑠𝑡 𝑠𝑎𝑦 𝐼 𝑘𝑛𝑜𝑤 ℎ𝑜𝑤 𝑡𝑜 𝑠𝑎𝑡𝑖𝑠𝑓𝑦 𝑎 𝑤𝑜𝑚𝑎𝑛, 𝑡𝑜 ℎ𝑎𝑣𝑒 ℎ𝑒𝑟 𝑐𝑟𝑎𝑣𝑒 𝑚𝑒 𝑒𝑣𝑒𝑟𝑦 𝑚𝑜𝑚𝑒𝑛𝑡 𝑤𝑒’𝑟𝑒 𝑎𝑝𝑎𝑟𝑡.”
𝐼 𝑣𝑜𝑙𝑢𝑛𝑡𝑒𝑒𝑟 𝑎𝑠 𝑡𝑟𝑖𝑏𝑢𝑡𝑒.

Elena Riley is a small-town librarian who’s also a closeted lingerie designer. I adore Elena!!! Seriously one of my favorite characters! She may look like a buttoned-up librarian but the girl has a sassy wild side! Plus, she has a pet pig that she designs little outfits for!!! What’s not to love about her?! #DLG #DaisyLadyGang

Of course, there’s a little drama, where Jack’s trust issues and miscommunication come into play but thankfully he pulls his head outta his butt real quick and realizes he’s about to miss out on the best thing that ever happened to him.

❝𝐴𝑟𝑒 𝑦𝑜𝑢 𝑔𝑜𝑖𝑛𝑔 𝑡𝑜 𝑏𝑟𝑒𝑎𝑘 𝑚𝑒?”
“𝑂𝑛𝑙𝑦 𝑖𝑛 𝑡ℎ𝑒 𝑏𝑒𝑠𝑡 𝑤𝑎𝑦, 𝑏𝑎𝑏𝑦.❞

The chemistry between these two is off the charts right from the very start! Which of course makes for some sexy steamy scenes, add in all the dirty talking hotness and we are talking about some ON FIRE steam!

The night of the play… that scene was one of my favorites that I won’t soon be forgetting!

❝𝑊𝑖𝑙𝑙 𝑚𝑦 𝑙𝑜𝑣𝑒 𝑓𝑜𝑟𝑔𝑖𝑣𝑒 𝑚𝑒 𝑓𝑜𝑟 𝑙𝑒𝑎𝑣𝑖𝑛𝑔 𝑤ℎ𝑒𝑛 ℎ𝑒 𝑓𝑖𝑟𝑠𝑡 ℎ𝑒𝑎𝑟𝑑 𝑜𝑓 𝑖𝑡? 𝐼𝑡 𝑤𝑎𝑠 𝑜𝑛𝑙𝑦 𝑓𝑒𝑎𝑟 𝑎𝑛𝑑 𝑖𝑛𝑠𝑒𝑐𝑢𝑟𝑖𝑡𝑖𝑒𝑠 𝑡ℎ𝑎𝑡 𝑑𝑟𝑜𝑣𝑒 ℎ𝑖𝑚 𝑡ℎ𝑢𝑠.❞

Well, besides the sexy scenes because my oh my were they sexy!!! There is NO cliffhanger, Not My Romeo wraps up beautifully with a sweet little epilogue that’s just the cherry on the cake!

❝𝑆𝑜𝑚𝑒𝑡𝑖𝑚𝑒𝑠, 𝑓𝑎𝑡𝑒 𝑔𝑖𝑣𝑒𝑠 𝑦𝑜𝑢 𝑎 𝑏𝑎𝑑 𝑔𝑎𝑚𝑒, 𝑏𝑢𝑡 𝑖𝑛 𝑡ℎ𝑒 𝑒𝑛𝑑 𝑑𝑒𝑠𝑡𝑖𝑛𝑦 𝑠𝑡𝑟𝑎𝑖𝑔ℎ𝑡𝑒𝑛𝑠 𝑖𝑡 𝑜𝑢𝑡. 𝐴𝑛𝑑 𝑦𝑜𝑢 𝑤𝑖𝑛. 𝑌𝑜𝑢 𝑎𝑛𝑑 𝐼 𝑎𝑟𝑒 𝑔𝑜𝑖𝑛𝑔 𝑡𝑜 𝑤𝑖𝑛.❞

Not My Romeo was an amazing start to the Game Changer’s Series and I am sooo excited to see what else Madden-Mills has in store for us! Devon, cocky as I don’t even know what Aiden, and my sweet, sweet Topher! I know Topher isn’t one of the football players (which is what I think this series is about..?) but I am REALLY hoping he gets a story as well… maybe with a certain James Bond bodyguard…?

If you’re looking for a lighthearted romantic comedy, you definitely should check out Not My Romeo.

NOT MY ROMEO by Ilsa Madden-Mills is the First book in The Game Changers Series. This is the story of Elena Riley and Jack Hawke. Elena is set up on a blind date that ends up being a one night stand but fate has other plans. Elena is a normal librarian who feels average in looks so when she learns who Jack is, she know he isn't for her. Jack is a NFL player who is very guarded person due to his past, but he is finding there is something special about Elena that opens him to some new feelings. I am such a fan of this author so I would highly recommend this book and really any of her writing.

Its not secret I am fan of Ilsa Madden-Mills and her writing and this was a fantastic start to her new series, she brought her trademark fun and witty style of writing that I have come to know and love. Once you start you will not want to put it down as you will be completely hooked.

Elena is one adorable nerd that you can't help but love, shes quirky and the complete opposite to Jack. He is the typical Jock but along with his slight arrogance he has a vulnerability that can't help but draw you in. Their connection was seriously hot, I'm surprised steam wasn't coming out of my kindle.

We were brought a brilliantly paced story which brought a rollar-coaster of emotions full of heartbreak, love and laughter. I can't wait to see what happens next in this series.

Picking up a book by Ilsa Madden Mills usually means a good time, I got into her books with high expectations because I have yet to find one I didn’t like. However, there are a few in the flock that stand out above the rest. The ones that have main characters with flaws and issues that bring their humanity out and make it easier to connect to because they are not “Perfect” I don’t want a perfect character. Give me the emotion… Not My Romeo gave me all of the emotions and then some! From the first page I was ready for more. Elena was such an interesting character, shy and quiet with an edge of strength throughout. I loved her spunk and need to be herself. She is quiet but sure of herself and she doesn’t let the bright shiny lights that surround Jack to blind her and she doesn’t take his crap. LOVED THAT!

Jack though, his interest in Elena I think is sparked because she didn’t fall at his feet, maybe more so because she couldn’t have cared less about who he was on the field but who he was as man. Jack’s issues run deep, after a bad breakup and a tell all book of lies is released, I cant blame the guy for his commitment issues. But that doesn’t stop him from falling for Elena even when he doesn’t want to admit to it.

Elena and Jack are such a match made in heaven, I cant get over it. You will lose sleep over these two because putting the book down is so hard! Funny, emotional, alpha male, quirky female, angsty, steamy and soo full of love! This pair is one of my favorites of all time, and I can not wait to see what will come next for this series! There were some really great support characters that I would love to read in the future!

Not My Romeo is a delightful mix of emotion and fun with deliciously quirky characters.

Elena is a small-town librarian having returned to her hometown following her grandmothers passing and the inheritance of her house. Elena is from a family of strong independent women with a penchant for gossip and meddling, when they feel it is for the greater good.

Having been badly burnt by a previous relationship, Elena finds herself on a blind-date on Valentine’s Day. The connection and chemistry between Elena and Jack is electrifying, even though Jack was not the intended blind-date.

Jack has had a rough time with the relationships in his life, from a tragic past with his mother to foster care and then a tell-all expose by his former girlfriend; no-one can blame Jack for being emotionally guarded. Sadly, this causes Jack to project his insecurities onto the people who do not deserve it, especially Elena.

Not My Romeo has an element of fate/destiny within the narrative as Elena and Jack are brought into each other’s orbits via outside forces. I loved how the title brought in a variety of elements within the plot including Elena’s pet pig.

I really liked the way in which Elena refused to compromise her personal integrity for Jack even though it was a bone of contention between them. I was proud of Elena for staying true to herself.

The peripheral characters were all interesting adding an unusual dynamic to the narrative. Especially where family and loyalty are concerned.

Ultimately, Not My Romeo re-enforces the fact that the past does not define the individual nor should they let it.

Samantha’s Thoughts 💭

Elena is stepping out on a blind date with a hot weatherman. Instead, of the hot weatherman, she finds herself on an interesting date with Jack, a professional football player. Despite them being total opposites, they end up having a fun night together. When Elena discovers who Jack really is, she takes a step back. Good thing she doesn’t have to run into him again.

Jack has been through the ringer in the press so he likes to lay low. He is perfectly fine with never having to see Elena again. However, he lands the gig of Romeo in a small community play and his Juliet is no other than Elena. The tension rises as they are constantly in each other paths.

I normally shy away from sports romances. They just do little to hold my attention but I have to say this is not my first sport romance by this author and I know she is going to bring all the feels with it. So I didn’t hesitate at the opportunity to read this one. There is an equal amount of feels and funny moments.

While there are so many other things floating around in this book, it is strictly the romance that wins the spotlight. The chemistry is spot on with these two from the first encounter until the last page. Elena is so cute and quirky. On paper, she doesn’t’ seem to be what Jack would be into but she is exactly what he needed. I love it.

Jack has been hurt by past relationships. The author focuses on his insecurities and issues instead of making him the hot jock. He has plenty of reasons to not want any attention on him and trust females. It just makes him more adorable and I really liked him but in the same vein it took away because he constantly pushed Elena away. It is only cute the first time which is why I couldn’t give this the full five stars. Eventually, they got it together but it didn’t really add to the story.

Landra’s Thoughts 💭

My first Madden-Mills started out hot but missed a few notes in the end.

First up, this is my first from this author and I went in bit blind, but I love a good mistaken identity trope when done well. Not My Romeo has just that. Our hero, Jack, is a pro-quarterback with a bad attitude. He’s like the Marshawn Lynch of Madden-Mills football world in this new series, The Game Changers. FYI: I love football, in some ways I’m a dude shacked up in a woman’s body, so this element added a bonus to the story-telling.

The heroine, Elena, is a librarian who has not had much luck in the dating department since her split from her ex. She ends up on a blind date on Valentine’s Day and meets Greg, the meteorologist, or at least she thinks it’s Greg. But… it’s Jack, our quarterback, and everything rolls on from there.

There’s something about mistaken identity that always ropes me in, mainly how will the other party find out about the identity snafu. I want to see if it plays out in a believable way, and all the other juicy details. Bring the popcorn! This little date plays out over four chapters. Four. Chapters. I wasn’t bored, nope. There’s lots of tension, plenty of action, including Elena’s ex, magically taking his new girlfriend (Elena’s sister) to dinner at the same restaurant. Ooh, drama, chase me and the over protective jock hero. Normally this wouldn’t work for me, but it did. Elena is the anti-confrontational part of me that can’t stand to cause family issues, and Jack is that grumpy, grumbly man who I want to sink my teeth into. It gets even hotter by the end of the chapter:

“It’s Valentine’s Day. What else do you have planned tonight? Crying into you ice cream over our ex?”

“Maybe.”

“I’m better than ice cream.”

“Obviously you haven’t had Ben & Jerry’s Rocky Road.”

“Obviously you haven’t met me before.” I reach out and briefly touch her plump bottom lip, grazing my thumb across her silky skin…

Her eyes close, and her throat moves as she swallows, her mouth slightly parted. “Um…I don’t know.”

“Elena, are you going to make me beg for it?”

Yes, and I was hooked. Of course, there’s more issues especially that up until this point Elena still doesn’t know Jack as Jack. I eagerly turned pages engaged in the story. So, where did it go wrong?

About halfway through things fell flat. Sure, Jack has emotional baggage from being used and vilified by people he once considered close to him, which makes him super private and big on trust. Elena has her own issues and being a secret, involved with someone who likes everything private and closed off, doesn’t make sense to her. This all culminates in a loose, semi-out of nowhere black moment. I didn’t see it coming and found it not making sense compared to earlier parts of the book.

Additionally, the grand gesture read a bit out of place. I can understand why it happens where and how, but it still didn’t meet up to what I was hoping for. That’s on me, of course.

Outside of that Madden-Mills writes snappy dialogue, scenes that hook and easily kept me turning pages, along with smokin’ sex scenes. For readers who have enjoyed her stories before I doubt they will be disappointed.

Overall, this was another instance where I enjoyed first person point of view and I will be willing to give Madden-Mills books a chance in the future, especially any in this particular series. For readers who enjoy Alexa Martin’s Playbook series.

Wow. I am blown away. Jack and Elena sizzle with chemistry and you will find yourself hoping they can get out of their own way to find happiness.
Jack, a cocky yet shy, football quarterback doesn’t trust easily, especially after his last girlfriend messed with his life. His childhood was horrendous and he doesn’t believe love is worth the trouble. Elena is a small town librarian with a naughty side. She is on a blind date when she mistakenly thinks that Jack is her date. Their one night together will change their lives forever.
With banter, chemistry and highly relatable characters this book will leave you with all the feels. The added plot of the play was a great way to have him realizing some things and admitting the truth to himself and her. A great book about family, friendship, and love.
I received an ARC in exchange for an honest, voluntary review.

This book was so much more than I was expecting. It was funny, hot, and this new group dynamic is going to be hard to beat.

Elena is a librarian who comes off a little nerdy and shy. This outward persona couldn’t be further from her true self. She has such a big, outgoing personality, and I love how she spells things when she gets flustered.

Jack is a shell. He doesn’t let anyone in and doesn’t trust many people. He is just living life going through the motions.

Their meet cute was so hilarious. With Elena babbling and Jack’s broody exterior, I was cracking up and feeling the chemistry immediately.

Watching these two open up to everyone around them, divulge secrets that they have kept hidden, and become better versions of themselves was such a great experience. This was the perfect book to get me out of my book slump, and I cannot wait to see where this series goes next.

It's official: THIS book is my favorite one written by Ilsa Madden-Mills. It has everything I could have hoped for: heart, heat, humor, and angst. But that's over-simplifying it. Don't call this a sports romance because there's very little of actual football on the field, although we do get some of the behind-the-scenes stuff, i.e. working out, public relations, injuries, and press conferences. This is, however, very much a romance, and one that has depth to it even as some may feel it skims over the sports part (which is why I feel labeling it as such is a disservice to the story). The romance started off as a no-strings-attached, one-night-only sort of thing, but the connection the main characters shared demanded that it be explored further. Naturally, there are complications, and I'm not talking about simple ex stuff either. Elena and Jack's tale highlights how vital trust and communication are in relationships.

Speaking of Elena and Jack, these two were just the tip of the iceberg as far as the wonderfully unique and quirky cast of characters is concerned. We've got Elena's awesome best friend, Topher Wainscott, her protective and nosy mom and aunt, Cynthia and Clara, respectively, her wee bit insecure younger sister, Giselle, and her precious pig, Romeo. Over on Jack's side, there's Devon Walsh, his flirty best friend and teammate, Aiden Woods, his cocky backup and teammate, and Quinn (whose last name wasn't mentioned), his foster brother and close-in security. There are other people who caught my attention--Scotty the mailman who has a thing for Aunt Clara, Laura and Timmy, the mother and son who becomes one of Jack's ties to Daisy, and Patrick, the new pastor and possible date. I already know who book two is about, so I'm hoping at least three other people get books (two of them together, ehem). Because a beginning as fantastic as Not My Romeo deserves numerous follow-ups. Five-plus stars. ♥

Not My Romeo is book #1 in the Game Changers Series by Ilsa Madden-Mills.

I absolutely love Elena and Jack.
Elena is this nerdy girl, who likes to sew and love books. I love that it's easy to identify with her.
And Jack is this hot good looking guy, but underneath the hotness is so much more.

This book is perfectly written, because it's easy to dive in and feel all the emotions. It's like falling in love for the first time. You can feel their attraction and pain. Just everything. It's so captivating.

And don't start with the side characters. I. Love. Them. All. Especially one certain female one. And i can picture an amazing story with all the informations we get about her. And i would love to see her with Aiden or Devon. I'm not sure wich one would fit better, because they're both great.
I'm not picky, as long as i get more of these people in the future.

I was pulled right into this story. The story has laughs, pain, secrets, and heartbreak.

This is Elena and Jack’s story. This story will have you feeling all kinds of emotions. These two have to overcome some hard stuff in order to be together. He must let go of past pain in order to move on. She thought it was one night and he would never find her, but he keeps showing up all over. Will he love her forever or break her heart in the end?

I loved these characters and the side characters. I felt I could connect with the characters and the story was a great read.

I highly recommend this book.

This one was so good. Ilsa Madden-Mills has definitely become an auto buy author for me. Her romances always grip me from start to finish, and this one was one of the best. And boy, do I love a tortured hero. Jack’s childhood and relationship experiences are tragic and so very impactful. You see it play out in all of his actions. Something I really enjoy about this book, is how vulnerable Jack got on multiple levels. He may have money from being a professional football player, but he has lots of issues he’s dealing with. It just made him very human. Elena is just what Jack needs! She’s got her own issues she’s dealing with, but man does she have a heart of gold. She is sweet as pie and I loved that about her. I loved how she handled all of the situations that came at her. Plus, her family (plus Topher) are an awesome support system. I loved not only seeing Elena and Jack grow, but their relationships with other grow over the story too. I definitely loved this one!
