As expected this was another great read from this author.
An excellent crime thriller which is written so well.

Sofia and Alexandra Avellino are sisters. Both accused of murdering their Father.

One of them definitely did it. But who?

As the two sisters prepare their defence it is clear that one of them has an evil streak.

As others begin to lose their lives, we are left to wonder if anyone is safe from the murderer, and will she be caught before it is too late>

This is one of those novels that will have changing your mind constantly as you try to untangle which sister is guilty.

A brilliant, unputdownable read.

Just your average murder mystery to be honest. I enjoyed it but it was nothing outstanding and spent too much time in the court room to be exciting.

Due to a sudden, unexpected passing in the family a few years ago and another more recently and my subsequent (mental) health issues stemming from that, I was unable to download this book in time to review it before it was archived as I did not visit this site for several years after the bereavements. This meant I didn't read or venture onto netgalley for years as not only did it remind me of that person as they shared my passion for reading, but I also struggled to maintain interest in anything due to overwhelming depression. I was therefore unable to download this title in time and so I couldn't give a review as it wasn't successfully acquired before it was archived. The second issue that has happened with some of my other books is that I had them downloaded to one particular device and said device is now defunct, so I have no access to those books anymore, sadly.

This means I can't leave an accurate reflection of my feelings towards the book as I am unable to read it now and so I am leaving a message of explanation instead. I am now back to reading and reviewing full time as once considerable time had passed I have found that books have been helping me significantly in terms of my mindset and mental health - this was after having no interest in anything for quite a number of years after the passings. Anything requested and approved will be read and a review written and posted to Amazon (where I am a Hall of Famer & Top Reviewer), Goodreads (where I have several thousand friends and the same amount who follow my reviews) and Waterstones (or Barnes & Noble if the publisher is American based). Thank you for the opportunity and apologies for the inconvenience.

Two sisters blame each other for the murder of their father, one of them is lying! Steve Cavanagh is a fantastic author and this one is no exception. Highly recommended full of suspense and doubt. Eddie Flynn has no idea what the verdict will be and who is guilty, this book kept me going right up until the end!

Thirteen remains my favourite read by Steve Cavanagh but Fifty-Fifty came so close!

🌟Fast-paced, additive and everything you'd want out of a thriller!
🌟Dark, sinister the tension keeps raking up until there is no way you are putting the book down until you have answers.
🌟Eddie is a fabulous creation.
🌟I guessed the killer and a big twist along the way but I bloomin' loved the ride.
🌟Cavanagh just keeps getting better & better I cannot wait to see what he does next.

Thank you to the publisher for my eARC copy of this book. Unfortunately I didn’t love this book and therefore didn’t finish, I just didn’t connect with this one. Not for me, sorry.

Unfortunately I had to purchase a new Kindle device and could no longer access this book. I will come back and review if I read this in the future.

Fifty Fifty by Steve Cavanagh is yet another fast paced and thrilling read that keeps you on your toes throughout. You can cut the tension with a knife, the story twisting and turning this way and that, leaving you breathless as it hurtles forward to a shocking denouement that leaves you reeling.

What can I say? A thoroughly entertaining read that I would recommend.

Fifty-Fifty is another thrilling, high-concept courtroom drama mystery from Steve Cavanagh. The book is just so cleverly written, in terms of both the central mystery and the surrounding elements. The structure, the twists, the suspense: all spot on. I enjoyed reacquainting myself with Eddie and all the central characters and, despite her being part of the opposition, I adored Kate Brooks and performed a mental fist pump for her every minor victory!

Be warned: Part 4 of the book is so tense, I don't remember breathing once!

I loved how the pieces came together, the way every cast member played their part and the ending, which sets up the next instalment nicely. I cannot recommend this enough for thriller lovers everywhere and cannot wait for Steve Cavanagh's next Eddie Flynn book. Huge thanks to the publisher for my copy of Fifty-Fifty.

Two sisters on trial for the murder of their father. Only one of them did it, but which one? Eddie Flynn is representing Sofia as he believes she is innocent but did he back the wrong sister?

I love the Eddie Flynn series but don't like to read a series back to back so always leave breaks in between. I have left it far too long to get to this one but wanted to read it before the new release The Devil's Advocate is out in August. Why did I leave it so long as these books really do get better and better. I thought the premise of the previous book Thirteen was hard to beat but with Fifty Fifty Cavanagh has done it again. It was the perfect mix of nail biting tension and courtroom drama. I don't what it is about the American legal system but I just find it so fascinating and over the years between Grisham and now Cavanagh I feel like I know all the ins and outs! What makes these books even more impressive is the Big Apple setting and nuances of a native New Yorker especially as the author is Irish. The story this time round was brilliantly executed as we follow Flynn and the killer simply named She which meant I was constantly keeping an eye out for any little clue to work out which sister had done the unthinkable. Clever writing techniques were used throughout to keep me on my toes. This book in particular would make a fantastic TV adaptation as there were plenty of shocking moments throughout that would translate brilliantly to screen.

As with all this series you could read any of them as standalone but I always like to read books in order. If you have been swithering about these books before take my word they won't disappoint.

My first book by this author and what a book! Wow, no spoilers here – just wow!

Thank you NetGalley for my complimentary copy in return for my honest review.

I don't know what it was, but this just didn't work for me. I normally love a courtroom drama, but I could never really build up any interest, and even though it had this amazing unique premise, I just didn't ever feel like I really care about what was going on. I think part of the issue for me was the writing style - there was a lot of telling not showing, which meant everything felt very heavy and descriptive. Maybe it's because I didn't know it was a series and I've not read any of the others, but something about it just didn't work for me, although I can definitely agree with other reviewers who said it would make a great tv show.

Disclaimer - I was fortunate enough to be provided with an advance reading copy of this book by NetGalley. This has not affected my review in any way, and all opinions are my own.

I’ve read and enjoyed a couple of Steve Cavanagh’s novels so was highly anticipating this one. The novel opens with two phone calls to 911 from two women both in the same house reporting a serious assault on their father. The novel the follows the lawyers representing each of the sisters as they try to work out what happened and how to defend their clients. I found this book really gripping and I just wanted to know how it was going to turn out. I felt I knew how it was going to end and I was right, and I did find that disappointing for many reasons but it didn’t stop my enjoyment of the rest of the novel. I definitely need to go back and catch up on the earlier books in this series!
