Thank you Netgalley for my arc!!! This story was very very cute!!! Not gonna lie, before starting it I wasn’t sure whether or not I’d like this one based off the synopsis. But I completely changed my mind once I got into this story! It was a wonderful opposites attract story with super sweet characters! Loved it! |
I forget how incredibly fun are the books written by Helena Hunting! I was dying to read King’s book because he’s such a goody-two shoes, a stickler for rules and procedures. I was looking forward to see him lose his mind over a woman and I got my wish and more! Queenie was everything I wanted and more! One night Ryan Kingston (King to his teammates) is at a bar getting drunk. He has mommy issues, as he just found out that his sister is really his mom. Seated next to him is Queenie, also with issues. Hers is the continued dependency she has on her dad. “He was only twenty when I was born, and he ended up having to raise me on his own. So lots of trial and error in the whole how to deal with raising a kid alone, you know? And I’m really good at messing things up, and he’s really good at bailing me out every single time, so I’ve perpetuated that dependency, and he sort of inadvertently feeds it.” They get drunk and have a one-night stand. Queenie leaves before King gets up and doesn’t leave any information, making King obsess over her for weeks. She was perfect and he wanted more! At the start of the NHL season, they attend a meeting and lo and behold, Queenie is there, with her father, the manager of their NHL team!!! Talk about forbidden! King tries hard to adhere to the rule that Queenie is off-limits to the players. This part was hilarious because he behaved a little like a bumbling idiot, blushing and playing like crap when she was observing. They decide to be just friends, close friends, and things improve, but the temptation to be more is just too strong. There’s a lot of shenanigans in this book! And we get to see proper King doing dirty sex, yum! I loved the way this story developed. Queenie is convinced she’s a hot mess and that she drives men away with all her issues. But it turns out she’s perfect for King. A staid man who drives below the speed limit, drinks milk instead of beer, strict rule follower, he needed an impulsive and messy women to light up his fire. And in return, he was like a Xanax for Queenie, slowing down the messy speed in which she lived her life. “I’m aware I’m a lot to handle. And while he seems pretty enamored with me, that could easily change. He’s the calm and I’m the storm.” “I show her without words that she’s worth whatever trouble she seems to think she’s going to bring my way. I’d rather have her chaos than stay stuck in the calm, where everything is lackluster.” Queenie had self-worth problems, thanks to her worthless mother. She was in college, about to complete a dual major in psychology and art and left it because her mother told her she was never going to amount to anything and her choice career was worthless. I can’t believe that knowing her mother’s deficiencies as a parent, she would take her word. But take it she did and she dropped out one semester before graduation. King and Queenie (note the combination!) were perfect for each other and balanced each other. Their love story has several obstacles, coming from her issues, her father’s rules and his family’s expectations. There’s a plot twist that you just have to read to believe. We’re taken in a lovely ride, with fun moments and other heart wrenching ones. We also get a close look at Violet and her younger kids, Lavender and River. Queenie shined while dealing with Lavender, who has extreme shyness and dependency on her twin brother. These two are such a cute twin set and it was lovely to see Alex and Violet deal with their kids with so much love and understanding. I loved every sentence and enjoyed being with the whole bunch! |
I LOVED Queenie and Kingston’s story. This is the 3rd book of the All in Series, which is a little spin off from the Pucked Series. Queenie is trying to get back off her feet after losing her job, she moves back home and takes the job as her dad’s assistant who happens to be the General Manager for the Seattle NHL team, on her first day she comes face to face with Kingston… the guy who she hooked up with a few weeks ago – turns out that he’s the goalkeeper for dads team. This story is super sweet, I liked how genuine Kingston was, he was really understanding and supportive to Queenie which was lovely, not too much macho man stuff going on he was the right amount of protective without being overbearing. Queenie has made a few mistakes and is trying to figure out her life, outside influences have done a number on her self esteem and she pretty much feels like she’s a failure at everything. I think part of the reason these two worked so well was that they really picked each other up when the other was down. King made her see that she is worthy and can do whatever she puts her mind too. A highlight of this book is, of course, seeing how all the old characters are from the Pucked series, mainly Violet and Alex, it’s always a treat when these two pop up. |
Loved loved loved this book. I always find that Helena's writing immediately draws me in. Her stories are sweet, charming and incredibly sexy. I adored Queenie and King's story so much. Definitely a great ending to this series! |
I love love love King and Queenie! They are the definition of opposites attract. This story was nothing short of swoon worthy with an equal balance of romance and angst with a bit of comedy thrown in. Kingston is the ever responsible boy scout like good guy. Queenie is a little bit of chaos with a good heart but has lost her way a bit. Helena Hunting has a way of sucking me into her books and I become so invested in the stories I can't stop reading until the end. Now I'm currently praying to all the Gods that there are more books to come in this series because 3 isn't enough. 4.5 stars for A Secret for A Secret Jen reviewing for KinkyGirlsBookObsessions |
The King has met his Queen and I’ll tell you, this is my FAVORITE book from the series! Helena Hunting has given us yet another heartwarming, hilarious, and emotional story about finding love with someone who is the calm to your chaos. Kingston and Queenie could not be more opposite from each other but they both stole my heart. Their relationship was full of surprises, laughs, and moments that just made me swoon. I love how sassy Queenie was, yet how she doubted herself. King is the epitome of the perfect gentlemen, yet a beast during sexy time ;) I love the relationships that King and Queenie have with their families and their friends. All of the secondary characters brought so much to the table and I truly loved seeing some old favorites! I highly recommend the entire series! |
Thank you NetGalley and ofcourse Montlake for this ARC. I was waiting for this story and I have to say that I loved it. Sports romance is one of my favorite tropes and this series is one of my favorite too. I loved it. Ryan and Queenie slayed it with their chemistry and banter. The story was catchy and the it was a pure delight from the very beginning to the end. |
I read and enjoyed Queenie and Kingston's story. Kingston is a delectable cinnamon roll hero that is the perfect match for hurricane Queenie. A polite dirty talker? Sign me up! Kingston needs to learn how to let loose and Queenie is the woman for the job! Together they're a perfect match in hockey heaven. And dreamy Jake...*sigh* I absolutely adored seeing characters from the Pucked universe. This book is like visiting on the porch with your long lost friends and drinking lemonade. Refreshing with a dash of nostalgia. A solid five star reads for new and old Pucked fans! |

Ryan Kingston is the kind of book boyfriend I did not know I need. While my usual type are billionaires, Navy SEALs, alpha-hunks, Helena Hunting delivers a hero type that is exactly what we should all be looking for -- a genuine nice guy. This was my 1st in the series and, while I did feel as if there were things I missed out on by not reading the 1st 2 books, I still enjoyed the chemistry and characters. |
I love Helena Hunting's books and I adore the All In series. A Secret for a Secret is the 3rd book in this series and I definitely recommend it. King and Queenie could not be more different, but somehow they just work. I loved reading how the two of them discovered new and different parts of themselves while with the other person. I loved this book and can't wait for the next in the series! |
Five Milk stars!! I absolutely ADORE Helena's books. You always finish her books with a smile on your face and feeling lighthearted. Not only are books written to perfection but the characters are downright hilarious and this book is no different. I fell in love with Queenie and Kingston. Their story is heartfelt and captivating, sweet and magical. If you could have one perfect wholesome book boyfriend, it would be Kingston. If you look at the word perfect, is name is right next to it. He's caring and thoughtful, a fighter and manly, oh, and he's a dirty talker in bed 🤤🤤. He's too good to be true but I swear he's perfect. Queenie is a mess. She doesn't have her life in order but she's doing her best to figure it out. She's strong, passionate, and vulnerable. She's the perfect opposite match for our boy King. The two together balance each other out, they push each other to be better. If you want a story you can just fall in love with instantly, this book is for you. Helena, I love you and your books. Please give me more books always |
Could we get any cuter with characters names King and Queenie 😍 King and Queenie first meet at a bar when they are both reeling from events in their lives. Many drinks later and they end up going home together with Queenie disappearing in the morning. Although King would have liked to see her again he accepts the fact that this event was very out of character for him and isn’t likely to happen again. That is until the new hockey season starts with Queenie employes as the General Managers assistant, who also happens to be her father. There is so much chemistry between King and Queenie I am surprised all those around them didn’t get singed by the sparks. Despite their insane attraction, King and Queenie agree to be nothing more than friends because of the dynamics at play in their lives. While the romance is the focal point of the narrative, the plot also deals with verbal and emotional abuse and the long-lasting ramifications it has on the victim. In this case, Queenie, my heart hurt for her and the way in which the negatively impacted her self-esteem creating a vicious cycle of impulsive actions followed by unexpected consequences. Especially when one of those actions from the past comes back to wreak havoc on the present. I loved the interactions with the previous characters enabling the continuation of their stories in the background of A Secret for a Secret. Most of all I adored King, he is so adorable and sweet, the quintessential good guy with a touch of alpha in the bedroom – OH MY |
This was so stinking cute, y’all! Like goofy smile on my face the entire time reading sort of cute. Ryan Kingston is definitely a change of pace from your typical professional hockey player. The man is a freaking boy scout. He doesn’t swear. He doesn’t drink. He doesn’t disappoint his parents. And he doesn’t do one-night stands. He’s a guy that was a perfect kid growing up and then got the shocker of a century from his parents and finds himself reeling at a bar about it. One drink and a chance encounter with a beautiful woman leads to another drink and a different encounter entirely. But then he finds out that his beautiful one-night stand is the GM’s daughter and new assistant. Ruh roh. Queenie is a free spirit. She’s never quite found herself and sees herself as a disappointment for her devoted father. She can’t find a job that sticks and always seems to mess up. So when her father tells her that the hockey players are off limits, she’s determined to do things right. But it’s tough to keep it friendly when your chemistry is through the roof and Ryan is determined to do things right with her and date her. Now don’t pay my rating any mind, because this is based entirely on personal preference here. While I loved the opposites attract thing, Queenie and Ryan weren’t my usual cuppa when it comes to characters. Ryan was just a bit too sweet for my reading tastes. Stop judging me! I do love that he still had full alpha vibes even with all that sweetness. Queenie was a touch too brash for my particular tastes too. Though I did love her fire and spark. Ultimately, I loved the story and the characters, even if it wasn’t my typical preference. I simply adore all things Helena Hunting and this series just does it for me. It’s tough to follow the perfection that was book two for me, but this one still definitely hit the spot. |
This series is a fav of mine, and I think this story of Kingston and Queenie is my fav in the all in series! Love this opposites attract story of a hockey player and the general managers daughter. The angst is perfect, and their attraction and chemistry is fire! Hunting outdoes herself in this one! |
Boy Scout by day, Dirty Puck by night - that’s Ryan Kingston. Who would have thought that the clean cut, polo shirt and khaki pants wearing goaltender had a naughty side to him? I certainly didn’t and man oh man what a pleasant surprise it was. King can talk dirty to me anytime he wants! The rule following, straight laced hockey player gets thrown for a loop when his first and only one night stand ends up being the boss’s daughter. Queenie is a beautiful mess, she’s at a crossroads in her life, unsure of where she should be or what she should be doing. Moving into her dad’s guesthouse and getting hired as his personal assistant seems like two steps forward and three steps back once she discovers that the man who she shared an incredible night with is one of his players. Watching good boy King fall hard and fast for (not really) bad girl Queenie makes this an absolutely fantastic addition to Helena’s All In Series and makes me want more, starting with daddy Jake’s story! Please Helena, tell me there will be a book dedicated to this silver fox single daddy?! TBR A Secret For A Secret and enjoy! |
Once again I was hooked from the moment I picked up one of these books in this new series by one of my favorite authors. And King, well let’s say he might be the guy for me, because his favorite tv show is my favorite, The Big Bang Theory! King was such a good guy. He was totally the goodie two shoes you’d expect for the most part. But such a real man back behind closed doors. Perfect for Queenie. She needed someone like him. It was so frustrating for all the people she’d had in her past that made her life a hell, and made her doubt herself so much. And while King had a kind of screwed up family as well, at least it hadn’t been quite what Queenie had. He had a great momster as well. You’ll have to read to understand that. But there was also Queenie’s ex, a really big jerk of a hockey player, that ended up kind of getting what he deserved. As usual I loved how the author brought in so many characters we’d loved from her past books. Not only the other two in this series, A Lie for a Lie and A Favor for a Favor, but also my favorite couple of all time, Alex and Violet. And I loved their kids. Little Lavender was so so sweet! I really do hope we get a series of books based around the kids of our beloved Pucked series’ characters. |
Ryan Kingston is definitely the man every mom wants their daughter to bring home for the family to meet. King is the epitome of the boy next door, only if he is a real boy scout lol. He is a gentleman, kind, loyal, romantic and wild in the bedroom! And after one of the worst days of his life, King is trying to drink his sorrows away when he meets the beautiful Queenie. Turns out she's having a pretty crappy day too. King & Queenie go shot for shot and end up spilling their secrets and spend a passionate night together at King's house. Queenie leaves the next day with a sweet note but no phone number and they both acknowledge that it is what it is, a one night wonderful night. Well that is until they run into each other again about a month later when Ryan is introduced to Queenie officially by her dad, Ryan's boss, the boss who is also the GM of the hockey team Ryan is the goalie for. And the fun, laughter, banter, unbelievable one liners go on and on. Although there are some serious themes and I did shed a few tears, overall, there is so much to love about this book. Of course any book with Alex and Violet is a great one but this one has all their kids and it's magic. Bishop is the best wingman, lol. You will definitely want this to be your next 1 click!!! |
Ryan Kingston (aka King) and Queenie Masterson are opposites that is a perfect match for each other. Ryan is the good guy who hardly drinks, has manners and is a gentleman on the outside and hot, sexy hunk in the bedroom. Queenie on the other hand acts before she thinks most of the time. Her father has always been there for her and bails her out of the sticky situation that she gets into sometimes. When Ryan and Queenie meets at a bar, they are both going through things in their life that are hard for them to deal with and Ryan is thinking about getting drunk. With the help of Queenie, the 2 drinks their misery away and end up at Ryan's house. Queenie disappears in the morning and Ryan realizes that he never got her contact information so it was a shock to both of them when they meet again during the hockey team's practice. Ryan is a hockey player on the NHL team and Queenie happens to be the daughter of the general manager! It's fun to watch how Ryan and Queenie interact with each other and how Ryan finally asks Queenie's father to let him date his daughter. As they walk this new path together, things from their past and their family gets in the way. They realize that if they truly love each other, then they can get through anything. And there are a lot of crazy things that come back from their pasts and from their families. |

Oh my gosh this series has just gotten better and better as it has gone on! I freaking adore both Kingston and Queenie! King is the most unique hockey player I have ever read and I was so excited about that. He is a true gentleman in all ways and he treats queenie just like her namesake. Queenie is quirky and adorable. She has some struggles to work through and I love that King empowers her through it all. He doesn't do any of it for her, he builds her up and she does it herself. I am obsessed with them and I loved every single page!! |
