The first book in this series kept me up all night reading but unfortunately the sequel did not have the same thrills. I do love the characters Bree and Matt. I love the small town feel to the story but the suspense seemed to fizz out in the book. Melinda Leigh is one of my all time favorite authors and I will continue to read her books . I'm hoping the next book in the series has the same thrills as the first. This book is still a good read it has a good mystery and the characters are very likable still making it an enjoyable read.

Melinda Leigh has now become one of the authors I look out for, and get pretty excited when a new book is released. This second book in the Bree Taggert series begins with a call from a shooting in the woods. When bree arrives however, there is no sign of a body.
Bree is still reeling from recent events, taking over care of her niece and nephew after the sudden death of her sister and having to uproot her life and move. As the new sheriff she certainly has her hands full!
See Her Die will keep you gripped from the very first page and I really enjoyed more of the characters stories. I shall be waiting for book 3 eagerly!

Melinda Leigh is an author who should be on your shelf, your Kindle, your Nook, where ever, and if she's isn't, treat your self and get her, Book 2 in the Bree Taggert series can be read as a stand a lone. See Her Die starts off with action and keeps on going. Twist, turns, surprises and as always we Melinda Leigh's books, family, I love that I don't have to skim pages, that I can read her books and share with different age groups. Thank you! This one pulls so much from our world. Homelessness, bullying, the day to day of police work and maintaining a family. Starts off with a murder and starts casting doubt all in chapter one and we are off. I can honestly say you cant go wrong with a Melinda Leigh book and if you like procedurals, family, dogs, mystery buy this book. Thank you NetGalley, Montlake and Melinda Leigh for the arc and taking me on a great read. I freely share my thoughts and opinions.

See Her Die by Melinda Leigh Reviewed July 30, 2020 4
This is Book #2 in the Sheriff Bree Taggert series. This is my first novel by author: Melinda Leigh.. I didn’t read "Cross Her Heart]", however, Ms. Leigh did a good job in letting riders know what happened in Book #1.
Bree has been dealing with the nightmare that happened 25 years with the murder-suicide of her parents.
In Book #1 her sister Erin is killed. Erin’s husband vanishes. Bree believe Justin isn’t responsible and teams
up with Justin’s old friend former sheriff’s investigator and K-9 handler ~ Matt Flynn.

This story starts when Sheriff Taggert is called regarding a reported shooting at a camp ground that has been closed for the winter ~ when she gets there ~ no shooter ~ no victim ~ no blood. However, Bree believes Alyssa, a homeless teenage who saw it all!
Bree teams up again with former deputy Matt Flynn; Yep! Hoping for romance! I really enjoyed this story. Truly like Bree and her efforts to do a good job in raising her niece and nephew as well as do a good as sheriff. I am certainly looking forward to the next novel in this series.

BTW: “Drown Her Sorrows” Bree Taggert #3 as well as “Right Behind Her” Book #4, are both scheduled for release in 2021

Want to thank NetGalley and Montlake Romance for this early release granted to me in exchange for an honest professional review. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.
Publishing Release Date scheduled for September 15, 2020.

What make Melinda Leigh a amazing mystery writer. The stories she creates are always moving forward the characters fears from the first book to the next showing the growth the characters create!

Each characters has a heart a soul that comes to life off the pages. Readers will root for Bree and the family she is now taking care of as well as those she surrounds herself with.

The dark past is what keeps her moving she tries hard to find peace with her family, create a life as a care taker and help her brother who is lost in his mind at times.

This series isn't a stand alone but the author is able to bring readers up to speed without slowing down the story.

Another Can't Miss Series!!

Thank You to Netgalley for the advance copy of Melinda Leigh See Her Die.

Bree Taggert has recently become Sheriff and she has to earn the trust of the deputies. She is called to a lakeside campground with a report of shots fired. There is no body and no evidence of a crime. In their search they come upon a body that is partially submerged in the frozen lake. When others go missing Bree has to figure out if the supposed shooting at the lake is connected. Can they figure it out before there are more dead bodies. This is the second in the Bree Taggert series but it could be read as a stand alone. I love everything written by Melinda and this one lived up to her usual high standards of writing. I couldn’t put it down. I look forward to the next book by this author. Thank you to net galley for an advanced readers copy.

This is the second book in the Bree Taggert series and can be read as a standalone .

Sherriff Bree Taggert has still not fully settled into her new post - does remnants of the
previous Sherriff's corrupt personnel still remain .
Bree is called out to a report of shots fired at a campsite - the only witness is
a homeless young woman , Alyssa ,who says her friend has been shot and killed .
Where is the body ? where are the bloodstains she would expect to find?
Despite the reluctance of her deputies she calls in the help of
her friend Matt Flynn and his K9 to search for hidden clues .
Before too long a body is in the nearby lake - but is not the missing girl !
As more bodies are found Bree must find a link between the victims , because Alyssa
has now gone missing - will she be the next victim ? Just who can she trust ?

This is as fast paced , entertaining thriller with a touch of romance and I look forward to
more books in this series in the future

I was given an arc of the book by NetGalley and the Publisher in exchange for an honest review

I have loved all of Melinda Leigh's books but this series may be my favorite. The characters come alive and the mystery kept me guessing all the way to the end. I can't wait for the next book in the series.

This was a great book, a bit of everything, and had me guessing as to who the suspect really was.
Well written and I didn't find that the story dragged at all, all the characters are well done.

Highly recommend anything from Melinda Leigh, looking forward to the next in the series.

There are consequences to one’s actions…

This is the second book in the Bree Taggert series that can be read as a stand-alone.

A homeless teenager sees her friend shot by a man and reports the crime before she hides in an empty campground cabin where they’d been squatting for the winter. Randolph County Sheriff Bree Taggert arrives to find a terrified girl yet no body of the friend can be found. Is the girl delusional or did she really witness a murder? And why is there no evidence of said shooting?

Being new to the position of sheriff Bree isn’t taking any chances and orders a search of the surrounding area, requesting K-9 assistance from Matt Flynn. A body is found in the nearby lake but not the one they expected, a university student, and not one reported missing. Something strange is going on in upstate New York, soon more bodies are discovered and the murders show brutality, someone violently angry and clearly escalating is responsible. Finding the victim’s connections to each other is paramount to solving the case but people are hiding something, possibly the witness.

A former Philadelphia detective, Bree has much to acclimate to in her new position while she tries to solve these murders and raise her orphaned niece and nephew. Being a leader is not easy, Bree is firm and tries to be fair as she assesses her staff and learns who she can trust for they are the remnants of a prior corrupt office. It’s no wonder her level of tension between work and family life pressures. She’s an evolving character introduced in the first book, having read book one provides more context into Bree’s persona but it’s not necessary to have read that book to enjoy this one, the author provides the relevant information necessary to understand this character’s emotions. Bree is a strong, intelligent woman with vulnerabilities and she’ll have to face a past trauma that threatens how she functions on the job.

The intricate mystery that unfolds is captivating with several twists that keep the reader guessing, the main characters have depth, are likable and relatable, the supporting cast though not the main focus of attention do have their interesting moments, the plot was suspenseful and fast-paced and the nebulous relationship between Bree and Matt Flynn continues to develop, theirs is a steady slow burn romance.

An advanced reading copy was obtained from the publisher via NetGalley.

I have been waiting for this book, since I turned the last page on the first book of this series

Melinda Leigh's an old-pro at this by now: a police procedural that starts predictably fragmented, with the careful low drop of clues and misdirections until the pieces slowly come together in a way that you couldn't quite thought of before in the beginning.

'See Her Die' is undoubtedly an engaging read, and is a continuation of the Bree Taggert series revolving around the new sheriff in town who's got so much on her plate while investigating crimes with her new partner. It's also classic Melinda Leigh in that the whodunnit plot is kept fresh through writing that's believable, relatable, tense and simply quite masterful.

The slow burn between Bree and Matt is near-negligible here especially since the focus lies in solving the mystery and the drawing out of suspense rather than a romance, which....is probably only there if you blink hard.

It's not quite my preference really when the romance takes a back seat, considering I would have liked to have seen something more tangible other than fleeting whispers of how much they like each other and not having anything come out of it. But the build here, like Leigh's Morgan Dane series is so gradual that the next 2 books would probably (hopefully) feature something more substantial between Matt/Bree.

So it's another good, solid read that 'See Her Die' that we've got, though it's not something anything different that Leigh has done for the past few years or so. As much as I like Leigh's writing (and this isn't any indication that I'll stop reading all that she writes), I think I'm ready for something more radical and steamy from her.

This suspense filled installment in the Bree Taggert series is one that I couldn't put down. We find Bree trying to settle into her new role, taking care of her niece and nephew and learning her new job as Sheriff. Bree is pulled into an investigation of a reported shooting that turns out to be more complex than face value. Compounding the issue, Bree isn't sure which of her deputies are trustworthy. I enjoyed the unpredictable twists and turns this story took! Thank you to the author andNetGalley for the opportunity to read and advanced copy. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

This is nonstop action! It starts from the beginning when Bree, the sheriff (love that there is a woman sheriff) is called into the scene to cover a possible kidnapping or murder. But with no blood or weapon, did it really happen? She calls in Matt, who has a K9 partner to help with the search and they find a mystery with multiple casualties. So already, a female sheriff and a K9 character and I'm hooked. No seriously, Matt was great, there was such fantastic chemistry between the characters and I was on the edge of my seat trying to figure out what was happening (in between cringing at some of the descriptions of what happened to the victims. I actually do have a few books from this author because she always gets such great reviews so I like to buy her books when they are on sale so they are on my TBR list. I love that I had the opportunity to read this early (Thanks to the publisher and to NetGalley!) and this has just moved her other books up my list!

See Her Die is the second in the Bree Taggart series. Though I have read/devoured the Morgan Dane series by Melinda Leigh, this was the first time I had read a book in the Bree Taggart series. This book is another win for Melinda Leigh. I loved the story and the characters. I also found the story easy to follow, even though it was the second in the series.
I would highly recommend this book and any of the Melinda Leigh series.

Thank you Netgalley, the publisher, and Melinda Leigh for the ARC.

This is the second book in the ‘Bree Taggert’ series. This can be read as a stand-alone, but why wouldn’t you read book 1 if you have the chance?
‘See Her Die’ has Bree Taggert as the newly appointed sheriff of Grey’s Hallow. She’s dealing with going from being a detective to being in charge of other police officers, the grief she still feels about her sisters death and becoming a sudden guardian to two children.
Bree is called out to a shooting that is anything but normal. No victim, hardly any evidence and an unreliable eyewitness. To help with the search for the missing victim Bree calls on Matt Flynn and his K-9 companion only for them to discover a different missing persons body. Soon Bree and Matt are working to try and see if there are any connections between the shooting and the dead bodies that keep appearing.
I love a good mystery/thriller and this book didn’t disappoint. Melinda Leigh knows how to write a good book that flows well and is easy to read. This was a great addition to the series. 4 stars.

Bree finds out that being the new Sheriff is harder and more time consuming then she could have imagined. A call comes through about a shooting victim who is no where to be found at the camping ground. A search of the area leads to more confusion and two separate cases may possibly be connected. Missing college students, a homeless girl with a missing friends, her niece and nephew are struggling, Matt is waiting in the wings and Bree herself can't seem to even gets a good night's sleep. Can she catch the killer before more fall prey to him, or her? Can she juggle all the components of her new life successfully? Only time will tell in this exciting new Bree Taggert novel!

When students start disappearing and bodies begin showing up, Bree has a mystery with a dark killer to solve and fast. She brings Matt back in and the race against time is on. The plot is action packed and full of suspense. I was totally wrong about the villain. It's full of twists that keep you completely engaged. There are some glimpses of home life for both Bree and Matt which gives you an update on the characters you became invested in in the first book. There is a slow burning romance building between Bree and Matt and I love watching it unfold.
This one has a complex mystery and loads of tension. It's intense and will keep you up late reading. I couldn't put this one down!

See Her Die is a fantastic mystery that kept me gripped and guessing throughout.

As Bree Taggert whose now sheriff returns two months on from the murder of her sister Erin, to investigate a shooting at a campground where the only witness is a homeless girl whose story seems odd especially when no evidence of a victim or a shooter can be found. But before Bree rules that no crime has been committed she calls on former deputy Matt and his K-9 to track for clues. This, however, leads them to a body that appears not to be connected to the campground scene, and from there the mystery only deepens as more bodies are discovered, clues unearthed, and suspects uncovered.

Meanwhile, Bree is juggling her duties with her new-found
responsibilities of bringing up her niece and nephew who are very much still coming to terms with the loss of their mother and whose murder has brought up many terrible memories for Bree whose own mother was murdered by her father. And with so many interesting characters who really pull at the heart and a few familiar faces, I was genuinely hooked and I honestly can't wait for book three.

Would definitely recommend.

Another fantastic romantic suspense from Melinda Leigh. This 2nd book in this series had me hooked from the start. I like the characters and the appearances by characters from her other series. It is filled with plenty of action to keep the reader turning pages.
