“See Her Die (Bree Taggert,#2), by Melinda Leigh (Montlake Romance), was a good story, with an interesting, sinister suspense plot and, in the romance part, the engaging, well developed characters and loving relationships the author writes so well.
Bree Taggert is a wonderful heroine and Matt, the gentle, steady wounded hero, proves to be the right match for the brave sheriff.
I was much more interested in Bree, her family tight relations despite all they’ve been through, and the still incipient romantic relationship with Matt, than in the thriller, as compelling and chilling i might be; but unfortunately Bree is so overwhelmed, even burned out, with work, that her family and, above all her love life, are tremendously neglected and don’t get the real attention in the plot I would have liked to have seen. But the few occasions they’re together are so sweet and promising.
I loved meeting Morgan Dane again and getting to see her from another perspective.
I hope the next installment brings more of these developing relations between Bree, Matt, their respective families and friends.

This was an entertaining read. I had not read a book by this author before but would definitely consider reading more. A shooting is reported to Sheriff Bree Taggert and before long there are several missing persons and a dead body. Matt comes in to help Bree with the case and the two, along with her department, are on the hunt. They work as quickly to find the killer before more people go missing or die.

I enjoyed this book and definitely had not figured out the mystery to it before it was revealed. I liked the characters of Bree and Matt and would like to see more of them.

Bree Taggert is back and in fine form, although she is still struggling with suddenly becoming Sheriff!

Bree is a tough but far Sheriff. She has a great personality and is downright likeable. Her team have mostly accepted her, although there appear to be a few who want to see her fail. Her almost romance with Matt has also stuttered to a halt before it ever took flight. But like the capable, caring male he is, he's still around to lend a hand even though Bree kinda shut him out of her life while she gets her newfound guardianship in order.

Luke is drowning himself in work to cope and Kayla has turned into a clingy kid but otherwise, they are coping well. Bree's always dependable, newly retired partner is a godsend. She picks up the slack when Bree would otherwise struggle.

When a call comes in from a homeless teen stating that her friend has been murdered, but when the cops arrive there doesn't appear to a crime scene. But then the body of another murder victim is found. Just how involved is Alyssa? Is she victim, witness or suspect.

Matt and his cute but professional K-9 are still around, ready to give a helping hand (or paw). His sister has taken over his premises with rescues but he still plans to train service dogs. When he takes on a welfare check for one of her canine foster grandmothers, Matt finds his good deed has somehow melded with Bree's murder investigation.

No spoilers here but there is an intricate, interwoven, multiple thread storyline. I loved unravelling it all. Superb read and cannot wait to read the next installment!

An enjoyable sophomore addition to the series. Thanks, Netgalley for a sneak peek. this is the second Bree Taggart book and just as good as the first one.

Book 2 in the new Bree Taggert series by Melinda Leigh. Enjoyable but not quite as exciting or captivating as her Morgan Dane series., but I think it will get there.

See Her Die is the second book in the Bree Taggert Series, but can be read as a stand alone. You are given a reminder of the characters from the first book but a lot of time isn't spent refreshing your memory, which I liked. The story is fast paced and pulls you in and along for the ride. The main characters continue to grow, and so did my interest in them. I found the story interesting and enjoyable. I was given an ARC for my honest opinion.

See Her Die by Melinda Leigh a five-star read that will chill you to the bone. This is number two in the Bree Taggert series and they can be read as stand-alone, as they deal with different cases, but I have loved them as a series as I have enjoyed watching Bree become the Sheriff Grey’s Hollow deserves. This one was so good I left my wine undrunk as I was so gripped, the dance that Bree and Matt follow, with doggie footprints in the snow it was compelling and added another layer to this great story. The whodunnit kept me guessing the whole way, I was so convinced I knew who the mystery person was several times and I was wrong each one, it so well done that even when you convince yourself you know, a chapter later you convince yourself no its not its someone else, and is Alyssa telling the truth, all of these elements make deeper connections and a deeper story. Melinda Leigh has managed to create a compelling story that will haunt you long after you put the pages down. Bree Taggert is a character that compels you to read her story, she compels you to get under her skin, compels you to find what makes her tick, compels you to understand her history as you will be so encompassed in this story you need to figure everything out.

I have read another book in this series, and this one is very good also. I really like the setting, and the dynamics of Bree with her family, her deputies, and her love interest Matt. Matt's story is cool too. I like the K 9 aspect that he brings to the story. I thought this was a good mystery, with lots of harrowing scenes, due to weather conditions. It definitely made me shiver with cold! Good read, with well developed characters.

A riveting read! I love Bree Taggert. She’s tough, smart and has a heart of gold! There are a lot of twists and turns in this book. I stayed up late reading this book in one sitting. In this second book of the Bree Taggert series, Leigh continues to introduces us to the new sheriff. Now serving as the guardian of her deceased sister's children, Bree is also trying to establish herself in this new career. Suddenly, she finds herself investigating a report of a shooting only to discover dead bodies of other missing persons, prior to finding the body of the woman whose death initiated the call. With the help of her friend, Matt Flynn and his K9, she tries to track the murderer while protecting the only eye witness to the reported murder. It quickly becomes evident to Bree that she needs an investigator, and Matt is the obvious person for the job, given his police experience. After she convinces him to take the position, the two of them must solve the murders and figure out if there is more to their relationship than work. The investigation takes unexpected turns and provides suspense to keep readers guessing about what will happen next. The skill of Leigh is revealed at the end of the book, where she connects Bree with Morgan Dane, the attorney and main character of another of her series. We will have to see what the next book holds for all these wonderful characters.

I just love this series. Bree is such a strong character, she likes to portray herself as this strong, independent woman...but she has her flaws and her weaknesses, and she hates that her facade sometimes slip. She’s juggling so many balls in the air, and has no time for a relationship with the delicious Matt. The case in this story is really intense, and there are so many red herrings, which I love. The relationships are really well developed and well written. Can’t wait for the next one

I enjoyed Bree in the first book and even more so in this one, and I love how it ties to other series. So much fun :)

Bree is a complex character with a lot happening to her and around her. She's fascinating to delve into and watch her grow and change.

You don't need to read the first book to jump into this one, although it will help in parts to understand a few of the characters better.

I so enjoy reading what this Melinda Leigh writes for us. Once again she's given us a strong heroine and devastating circumstances in which she's found herself in, but she might just be finding a partner to gp along with new job and new life parenting her niece and nephew.

Bree is sheriff now and she is so much busier than she thought and now with a witness who saw a shooting, a missing teenager in addition to the one shot they cannot find this case is going to push her to her limits. Good thing she has Matt on her side.

This was such a good read. I'm hooked on this series.

This was a great mystery!

This book was thoroughly engaging right from the start. The story was fast-paced, which I liked a lot. The crime takes place in the first chapter itself when Alyssa sees someone shoot her friend and calls the cops. The catch over here is that there's no dead body at the supposed crime scene, no blood, no signs of struggle, nothing to indicate that a violent shooting has taken place in the area. The only lead cops have with them is the word of a somewhat unreliable witness. Things get even more interesting when a couple of college students go missing and dead bodies start turning up in quick succession. It's up to the sheriff, Bree Taggert, and her companion Matt, to find out if these deaths and disappearances are related and if there is a serial killer on loose. There is a sense of excitement and thrill throughout this book which would keep the readers on the edge of their seats. Each new chapter brings up some new detail about the case, which sets up a perfect pace for the story. The author has not slacked anywhere and has done a clever job of giving just the right amount of clues while misdirecting the readers at the same time. This just kept me guessing till the very end about who was the culprit and how are all these deaths related to each other.

Bree was a great protagonist. She is a good leader, who keeps a firm hand on her team. She is dedicated, competent, intelligent, and very intuitive. She is struggling to handle the added responsibilities of her job while trying to take care of her family at the same time. Some aspects of this case are bringing back the memories of certain traumatic events in Bree's past. This, combined with the work pressure and worry for her family is taking a toll on Bree. I liked that she is not shown to be always in control (though that's how she likes to be) and perfect. I liked seeing her deal with her fears, this made her more real and relatable to me.

This story had a great set of supporting characters. I liked Matt, Todd, Detective Stella Dane, even Rogers. My complaint is that these characters were not given enough 'storytime', with the exception of Matt. I would have liked to see more of them, but I realize that giving extra focus to the side characters would have just taken away the focus from the main story.

The main reveal was unexpected and the ending, while thrilling, was not rushed. I liked the fact that the author took the trouble to bring all the loose ends to a genuine logical conclusion. So many crime stories have the loose ends tied up in a rush at the end. This did not happen here. I loved that proper attention was given to each person involved in the end.

All in all, I loved this book and would recommend this to everyone. I would be very interested to read future books related to Bree and Matt, and other books in general as well, from this author.

Sheriff Bree Taggert is called to a campground where a witness saw a shooting. The only problem, there is no body, no blood, or no shooter. She calls Matt, K-9 handler and former deputy, to bring his dog to search for the shooter. What they find is a young mans body floating in the ice water. Matt was investigating the disappearance of a young college student and they have to wait because he is unidentifiable. While looking for the shooter and missing man, another body is discovered and another has went missing. They need to find the young man before he ends up dead too.
Excellent story with plenty of edge of your seat action, suspense, and a killer. I could not put this down, it had me hooked from the first page. Even though I like a little romance in my stories, I would still highly recommend it.

I love the Bree taggert series I hope this series continues for a long time. I was hooked on page one and loved the romance and mystery combined. But the characters and the children is what made this book special

New sheriff Bree has a lot on her hands. She's caring for her orphaned niece and nephew, working through a crippling fear of dogs, managing resentment from her stretched and mismanaged team, and suppressing her attraction to a handsome ex-deputy/dog trainer. Oh, and she has multiple murders to solve and a fragile but evasive witness to protect.

I enjoyed this combination of a police procedural and a slow-burn romance. The killer's motives are unusual, and the small-town winter setting is well drawn and well used. Dogs play a major role in the story, and each one is distinct, realistic, and engaging.

Bree herself is a sympathetic character but almost too saintly to be relatable. The mystery unfolds in a straightforward way, with few twists. But readers who enjoy J.A. Jance's Joanna Brady series or other novels that explore both the personal and the procedural side of small-town law enforcement should be very pleased.
