Another great mystery focused on Bree Taggert and Matt Flynn. I really like this mystery, pacing and characters in this story and was thrilled to get to read the second one in this series. Bree is a strong female protagonist and I look forward to reading her next story! Thanks netgalley for this arc in exchange for my honest opinion.

See Her Die by Melinda Leigh is the second in the Sheriff Bree Taggart series. I really like this series. The character of Bree is likable, vulnerable and you can not help but wish for happiness in her life. Bree recently has been given the position of sheriff and she must prove to her deputies that she is a very effective leader. Bree is also a new mom to her orphaned nephew, Luke, and niece, Kayla. After her sister was killed Bree agreed to stay on their farm and become their guardians. This is a very different lifestyle for Bree.
One morning Bree is called out by dispatch to Grey Lake Campground which is closed for the winter season. A young woman called 911 to report her friend was shot and she has gone into hiding. When Bree and the deputies search the property they can not find a body or any blood to indicate a shooting took place. Is Alyssa Vincent a victim or an accessory to something more than breaking and entering to live in the cabin?
Matt Flynn trains K-9's for service dogs. He is asked by his sister Cade to visit Mrs. Whitney who is worried about her grandson. Mrs. Whitney is in her 70's and often helps Cade with older rescue dogs who need a home for their end of days. Eli Whitney was supposed to have been at her home for a family visit on Sunday but never appeared. He is a college student but always responds to his grandmother.
In the process of Bree and Matt, with his K-9 partner, Brody searching for the shooter or a body on the campgrounds, they find a body that has been submerged in the icy water off the dock. The face has been beaten beyond recognition. Could this young man be Eli?
I won't post spoilers, but the search becomes more intense as another college student goes missing. What is happening and why?
I read this book all in one day and enjoyed every minute of the story, although there is some strong language.

This is the second book in Melinda Leigh's new Bree Taggert series. This series has a similar feel to Leigh's Morgan Dane series (which I love and if you haven't read it you should!) in that the characters feel real and down to earth, the leading ladies are women who are working to make their way in a new situation while rocking their jobs and raising kids, and the men in their lives are supportive and helpful rather than some of the alpha males we see tend to see in romantic suspense books. Since this book is set in the town next to Scarlet Falls, we some characters from the Scarlet Falls and Morgan Dane series as well.

The mystery unfolds throughout the book rather than either knowing halfway through who the killer is or waiting until the last chapter to wrap everything up. It makes it more enjoyable to read because you are seeing all facets of the investigation. Her budding partnership with Matt adds to the story and the case rather than distract from it.

I discovered Melinda Leigh a few years ago and have really enjoyed her work. I've read several of her series and am always on the lookout for her new book!

I received an early copy of the book for review through NetGalley.

This book was spectacular, as all of Leigh’s titles. Non stop thrills, as we try to decide if a young girl is fabricating a Murder. Loved how we touched base with Scarlet Falls and about appearance from Morgan Dane. *thank you Melinda and NetGalley for the ARC

Another "on the edge of your seat" mystery filled with suspense, murder, and revenge. All of Melinda Leigh's books are #1 and See Her Die is no exception!

This second book in the series is an action packed, edge of your seat type story. A homeless teen swears her friend was shot at the camp site they were squatting in but her body isn’t there, university students have gone missing, mutilated bodies turn up at the lake and Sheriff Bree Taggert is not yet sure who can be trusted in the department she has recently taken over. Couple all that with being the guardian of her still grieving niece and nephew and her growing attraction to former deputy Matt Flynn, and Bree really has her plate full. I loved the suspense, mystery, and realistic characters in this story. You can not help but love Matt and his dogs; he has flaws and insecurities but is also loyal, sexy, and trustworthy. It was great seeing their relationship develop as they worked together to figure out this convoluted crime and overcome some of the barriers between them. The mix of an engaging thriller with lots of twists and turns, a budding romance and a complicated family, creates an excellent story that leaves you wanting more of this world. I received an early copy of this book from Montlake Romance via NetGalley with no obligation to review. All opinions expressed are solely my own.

Melinda Leigh brings book two of Bree Taggert. Bree is now the new sheriff in upstate New York and also responsible for raising two children that the murder of her sister left parentless. Following the steps of a crooked sheriff she needs to find out who is going to stay as part of her team and who is still faithful to the practices of a corrupt leader.

Only on the job a few months she is hitting the ground running with the report from a homeless girl that her friend was shot and she saw it, but where is the body. Searching for the body in the cold snowy terrain with a cold wind leads to finding more than they anticipated and one thing after another happens pulling all of her resources.

Stretched thin in her department she calls on her friend Matt Flynn, who may be more than just a friend if she'd let him. Matt was medically retired from her very office after he was accidentally shot by another officer resulting permanent damage to his shooting hand. A short time ago he and she worked well together when trying to find her sister. He trains K9's but also can work as a consultant, She needs him now and this makes him very happy.

Bree has good ethics, natural instincts and doesn't fear anything when it comes to her job. Her greatest fear is of dogs, and being a new parent to her sisters children. She is a great smart agent but how can she parent two children when she's never had any of her own, learn leadership, and maybe squeezing in a romantic relationship while chasing down a killer and trying to find a missing student.

This book is easy to read and well written the pace is fast and keeps you interested and on edge to the very last page. I can really relate to Bree's fear of dogs I know exactly what she experiences and parts are heart pounding. Having Matt by her side is a stroke of luck.

Anyone who likes stories of a mystery, police chasing unknown killer(s), and romance wrapped up in a thrilling story will enjoy this book. Thank you Melinda Leigh, NetGalley and Montlake for allowing me to read this ARC this is my honest opinion.

Bree Taggert has a lot going on in her life. She is the new sheriff trying to get the department where it needs to be. She is also the guardian of her niece and nephew, who are still dealing with the death of their mother. Now she has a case where a shooting is reported, but no victim or shooter can be found. Add to it there is a dead body found not far away, and Bree feels she is over her head. Luckily she gets help from Matt Flynn, the good-looking former deputy, and his K-9 Brody. As the stakes get higher, Bree and Matt race to find the truth, which also may bring them closer together.

See Her Die is the second book in the Taggert series by Melinda Leigh. This book is fast-paced, engaging, and an all-around good read. I did not want to put it down! It is great for anyone who wants a suspenseful mystery that offers tons of heart. Bree is lovable because she is so realistic. Many can relate to her in one way or another. Leigh always draws you in to a world where you want more, and this book is no different!

I'm a huge fan of Melinda Leigh's books and I have read and loved them all to date and I'm really enjoying the new Bree Taggart series. This is the second book in the series and Bree has recently been made Sheriff ans she gets called to a shooting in a campground which has been closed for the winter and she arrives to find no body, and no evidence of a shooting and thus begins a very complex case that will have you hooked the whole way through. Alyssa says she saw her friend Harper being shot but is she telling the truth? I literally couldn't put this book down it had my head spinning trying to figure out what happened to Harper. I also loved how the case was shared with another well loved detective from another series. I can't wait for no. 3 in this series!!!

Thank you to NetGalley and Melinda Leigh for the arc of See Her Die, my review is honest and unbiased.
