Alyssa swears she saw her friend Harper killed but there's no body- at least not til Sheriff Bree Taggert  and k9 handler and investigator Matt Flynn go looking in the woods.  Then they find the body of a different person.  And then others.  This is a well done procedural that includes chapters where we hear from the killer.  It's twisty enough to keep you guessing, even with that perspective.  Bree's tough, Matt's interesting,  Thanks to Netgalley for the ARC.  I missed the first one and this was fine as a standalone = and now I'm looking forward to more from Leigh

Loved it!!! Enjoyed the characters, story and writing style. This is definitely one of my new favorite series. Stella and Morgan Dane make an appearance. I'm not sure how I feel about the person Morgan is hired to defend. If that person would have spoke up, a lot less people would have ended up killed. The case would have been solved so much faster. I need a Dana in my life. She always has yummy home cooked food ready for dinner, is a great friend to Bree and is wonderful with Kayla and Luke. Love Vader. I wasn't sure who was behind all the murders. I was suspicious of everyone. I love not being able to guess everything from the beginning. Eli and his roommates were not the nicest guys. They were jerks and thought they were funny. I completely understand Bree's fear of dogs. She had a horrible experience as a child. BUT she compared a sweet, harmless golden retriever to a killer grizzly bear. I knew what would be in Greta's future, can't wait to see her in action. 

Definitely recommend the book and the previous one in the series. It was a great mystery/thriller. There are plenty of twists and turns. Look forward to reading more books by the author. I can't wait to find out what is next in store for Bree and Matt. I see romance blooming.

Bree Taggert is still trying to get a handle on her new job as county sheriff. She inherited a force in disorder after the corrupt former sheriff left office. She had a number of deputies quit and she isn't sure she can trust all the ones that remain. Bree is also dealing with being the parent to her orphaned niece and nephew after her sister's murder.

When a call comes in from a young woman who is squatting in some "closed for the winter" cabins, Bree is the closest to respond. Alyssa claims that she saw her friend Harper shot. There is no evidence to be found but Bree thinks Alyssa's claim needs more investigation. Alyssa's story is so close to Bree's own that she is inclined to believe her.

Meanwhile, Matt Flynn has an investigation of his own. One of elderly people who does pet rescues hasn't heard from her grandson and is very worried about him. The two investigations soon become one when a body of one of the grandson's roommates is found dead. 

It is discovered that both the grandson and the dead roommate dated the same woman - a woman who is identified as Alyssa's missing friend. 

I enjoyed this story. I like that the murderer has chapters from his point of view. I liked learning more about Bree and Matt and have high hopes for their growing relationship. I thought the story had a nice amount of action and was quite tension-filled.

If he can't melt the ice and break those barriers to find the missing links nobody can.
Oh, but wait the romance isn't all because that clock is still ticking and danger is lurking at every turn.
Could the 911 call to report a dead body be a hoax?
Was the homeless teen named Alyssa who claims to have seen her friend get shot in need of help herself?
This is one wild, hairy, scary, and thrilling ride -so buckle up- as Melinda Leigh is taking this one to the top.
Another fab read in this Bree Taggert series which has never let me down.
A wonderful writer with true grit and determination to make it stick as every fine tooth detail is laid out beautifully for readers to enjoy.

See Her Die is the second book in a series about newly appointed Sheriff Bree Taggert. While this one could be read as a stand-alone, it starts 3 weeks after the first book ends, you will have a greater understanding of the characters if you read the first book as well. This whole series has been five star reads for me and I am SO glad there are two more books scheduled to come out next year. 

When a shooting is reported but no blood or body is found, Bree calls in Matt to help look for a body. When a different body is found a high stakes investigation is launched. I honestly couldn’t put this one down and while there wasn’t a huge twist like the last one I still enjoyed the ending!

See Her Die is the second book in Melinda Leigh’s Bree Taggert series and continues the mystery suspense of book one as Sheriff Bree Taggert attempts to navigate family life and the pressures of her job. A strong competent woman, Bree is also human and suffering the strain of overwork and the trials of hunting a killer. But as with all super focused law enforcement officers, Bree finds it hard to balance her work life and personal commitments without something going by the wayside. The characters within these books are complex and intriguing which only makes the reader want to know more about them all. I’m keen to learn more about Bree and her support cast in future stories and thoroughly recommend this series to lovers of crime thrillers with a touch of romance.

Once again, this was fast paced action from beginning to end! Bree Taggert is a tough, kick-ass woman, who has scars both inside and out, from horrifying events in her childhood. I love how she is trying to make a home for herself and her niece and nephew, with help from her friend and former police partner Dana. I enjoy the beginning of the relationship she has with Matt, and the scenes they have with the dogs, Brody, Ladybug, and new scene stealer Greta!  This is going to be an excellent series!

See Her Die was a great follow up to Cross Her Heart with an intriguing plot and some fun crossover with two of the author's other series.

One of the first big cases in her job as the new sheriff sees Bree Taggert called out to a shooting in a closed campground. But when she arrives there's no shooter, no victim, and no evidence someone was shot outside of a lone witness. So Bree calls in former deputy Matt Flynn and his K-9 Brody to track the killer, but the trail the pair follows leads them to the body a different victim, a missing university student. And when more students go missing only to turn up dead, Bree must find the link between the cases and catch a killer before her witness becomes his next victim.

The plot in See Her Die was really interesting, particularly the shooting at the start where there's no evidence it happened outside of the witness. When bodies of unrelated victims start turning up, things only got more interesting from there. It's clear there's something far more sinister going on than anyone expected. The book has chapters from the killer's point of view which allows us insight into the crimes that Bree doesn't have. I enjoyed watching Bree work to link the crimes and it was nice to see Matt and the deputies following different leads than Bree's. The ending of the book is suspenseful with just the right amount of action and I was happy with the way everything wrapped up.

Bree continues to be an excellent main character. Taking over as sheriff has definitely been more challenging than Bree expected and I'm looking forward to seeing how she adapts to the position. Matt continues to be an interesting character and I like that Bree brought him on as an investigator. The two work really well together and I'm interested to see how their relationship develops, both personally and professionally. This book once again only has the barest hint of romance in it, so readers looking for a more suspense/mystery type book should be happy with this one.

Some of the side characters in this book are ones from the author's other series, Stella Dane from the Scarlet Falls series and Morgan Dane from the Morgan Dane series. While Morgan only has a brief appearance in the book, Stella appears frequently as a case she's investigating is mixed up with Bree's case. It was great getting to see some familiar characters and I hope to see them pop up again in future books.

Overall See Her Die was an amazing read and I'm looking forward to reading the next book in the series, Drown Her Sorrows, when it releases early next year.

Another solid novel by Melinda Leigh. This is the second book in the Bree Taggert series and Leigh does incorporate some fan favorites from the Morgan Dane series as well. It can be read as a stand alone and offers a decent police procedural with intertwining relationship/romance. As seen with her recent writing style, Leigh respects sensitive readers and offers a “PG-13” romantic suspense. A quick, easy read that holds fan interest. 3 stars.

See Her Die by Melinda Leigh is the second in the Bree Taggert series. I really like this series but then that is no surprise. I've loved everything Ms. Leigh has written and I've read them all. I find the Sheriff character to be engaging. Being a city girl, who knew what a Sheriff's duties entail. And Ms. Leigh's ladies always have a great "side kick". Matt seems to fit the bill. Throw in a K-9 character and it sets up for a person series. I've seen mention of 5 in the series. Let's hope it doesn't end there.

It all started with a 911 call about a woman being shot at a closed campground. Sheriff Bree Taggert responded along with Deputy Jim Rogers. At the campground they found the young woman, Alyssa Vincent, who made the 911 call and said her friend Harper Scott was shot, but there was no body to be found. As Bree and her team searched for the body and the shooter Bree determined a K-9 team was needed. Former deputy Matt Flynn and his K-9 Brody were called in. Both Matt and Brody had been injured in a friendly fire incident a couple years earlier and were no longer part of the sheriff's department. Now both Bree and Matt, who had worked together before, are involved in the case. The case that exploded into a search for a serial killer.

See Her Die by Melinda Leigh is the second book in her Bree Taggert series. Ms. Leigh always writes a tight, concise, complex storyline that keeps the reader guessing. She doesn't disappoint in this book. There are plenty of twists and turns with all the action. I liked how well this author developed her characters and how realist their actions were. I look forward to more Bree Taggert books.

Ex cop Bree Taggert has had to adapt to huge changes in all aspects of her life since the death of her sister. She has a new home in a town she had no intention of ever returning to, is guardian of Erin's two children and is the new sheriff. So, when a call is received from a hysterical young woman who says her friend was shot in front of her, Bree rushes to the scene uncertain of what she will find.

As things rush from a possible prank call to the hunt for a deranged serial killer, Bree calls in friend and former deputy Matt Flynn to help, along with his K-9 Brody. With missing students, a rising body count, and a probable link to multiple burglary cases in nearby Scarlet Falls the sheriff can't help wondering if she will find her killer before their rage gets the better of them again and another body is found.

This is a great read by one of the best exponents of the romantic murder mystery genre writing at the moment. The second book featuring Bree and Matt already has a familiar feel to it and they are definitely worth rooting for. An extra pleasure in this book is the appearance of favourite characters from Ms Leigh's previous series set in Scarlet Falls. It was great to see their cameo appearance and I hope others will be doing the same in future installments of this great new series. 

I was able to read an advanced copy of this book thanks to NetGalley and the publishers in exchange for an unbiased review. I would recommend it to anyone who already loves this author or who wants an excuse to escape into a first class mystery for a while in both cases you won't be disappointed.

I love a good police procedural series and this one, featuring a strong female lead, has become an auto-read for me. Book two in the series was fast paced and full of adrenaline, pushing me to read faster and faster. I was perplexed by the case and found myself suspecting everyone. This was well written and executed wonderfully! The ending left me frantically turning pages to find out how it was going to end. I’m excited to read more in the series. Alyssa had met Harper at a homeless shelter, they had been camping out in an empty campground. A noise awaking her, and then noticing Harper backpack, sleeping bag were gone. As was her keys and her last $43 dollars. Hearing shots, a shadow, taking a second to call 911, she runs.   Bree as the new sheriff, doesn’t quite trust her team yet, wind the snow and bitter cold, they think Alyssa made it up. Calling Matt and his dog a tracker Brody could they help. A body is found, the other girl still missing what happened and why, this was a desolate area in the winter. A tangled plot, does Alyssa know more then she is saying, missing people, the body count rises with non stop action. Bree and Matt work well together, and maybe a chance of a romance. at first she wakes because of a scream when she goes to investigate she sees a man shoot her friend

bree and her police force are out at the scene but the weather hampers them, with the forecast for more snow bree needs her men to find any clues they can, but without a body or a crime scene there isnt much to go on

but suddenly a victim or perp is found with an axe...are they friend or foe....

with the help of the k9 unit called in another body is found under the ice...but things arent adding up to what the witness/perp says and then the body has more questions than answers

with some of the men in her squad not taking to their new boss...bree has her work cut out for her trying to either win them over with her style of policing or shipping them out...

and then there is her niece and nephew who are still reeling from their mother being murdered...hence the move to this new lifestyle bree has never seen for herself

you just cant fault a melinda leigh book full of characters that are good and bad and the visit back to see some favourite characters...plenty of red herrings before we find out who the murderer was and can bree get over her fear of dogs....a challenging time for bree

This is book 2, and I did not read book 1, but there is enough discussion that I felt like I was in the loop on the story. This one had Bree, the new police chief, investigating a serial killer who was targeting college students. A little creepy, but the story kept my interest to the end and was hard to put down. Would highly recommend this book and author.

The first book in this series kept me up all night reading but unfortunately the sequel did not have the same thrills. I do love the characters Bree and Matt. I love the small town feel to the story but the suspense seemed to fizz out in the book. Melinda Leigh is one of my all time favorite authors and I will continue to read her books . I'm hoping the next book in the series has the same thrills as the first. This book is still a good read it has a good mystery and the characters are very likable still making it an enjoyable read.

Melinda Leigh has now become one of the authors I look out for, and get pretty excited when a new book is released. This second book in the Bree Taggert series begins with a call from a shooting in the woods. When bree arrives however, there is no sign of a body. 
Bree is still reeling from recent events, taking over care of her niece and nephew after the sudden death of her sister and having to uproot her life and move. As the new sheriff she certainly has her hands full!
See Her Die will keep you gripped from the very first page and I really enjoyed more of the characters stories. I shall be waiting for book 3 eagerly!

Melinda Leigh is an author who should be on your shelf, your Kindle, your Nook, where ever, and if she's isn't, treat your self and get her,  Book 2 in the Bree Taggert series  can be read as a stand a lone. See Her Die starts off with action and keeps on going.  Twist, turns, surprises and as always we Melinda Leigh's books, family,  I love that I don't have to skim pages, that I can read her books and share with different age groups. Thank you!  This one pulls so much from our world.  Homelessness, bullying, the day to day of police work and maintaining a family.  Starts off with a murder and starts casting doubt all in chapter one and we are off.  I can honestly say you cant go wrong with a Melinda Leigh book and if you like procedurals, family, dogs, mystery buy this book. 	This is Book #2 in the Sheriff Bree Taggert series. This is my first novel by author: Melinda Leigh.. I didn’t read "Cross Her Heart]", however, Ms. Leigh did a good job in letting riders know what happened in Book #1. 
	Bree has been dealing with the nightmare that happened 25 years with the murder-suicide of her 	parents. 
        In Book #1 her sister Erin is killed. Erin’s husband vanishes. Bree believe Justin isn’t responsible and teams 
         up with Justin’s old friend former sheriff’s investigator and K-9 handler ~ Matt Flynn.

This story starts when Sheriff Taggert is called regarding a reported shooting at a camp ground that has been closed for the winter ~ when she gets there ~ no shooter ~ no victim ~ no blood. However, Bree believes Alyssa, a homeless teenage who saw it all! 
Bree teams up again with former deputy Matt Flynn; Yep! Hoping for romance!  I really enjoyed this story. Truly like Bree and her efforts to do a good job in raising her niece and nephew as well as do a good as sheriff. I am certainly looking forward to the next novel in this series.

BTW: “Drown Her Sorrows” Bree Taggert #3 as well as “Right Behind Her” Book #4, are both scheduled for release in 2021
