This was not my style of book
I didn’t like the writing style at all.
I felt the story was so weak

This was an interesting read. It definitely showed how so much of what makes us different ends up uniting us in the end.

A bit of escapism in a book, I found this really enjoyable. Great writing and loved characters.
Thank you to both NetGalley and publishers for gifting me the book

I read this at the height of the pandemic, and it gave me a sense of hope, as well as The Holiday vibes (which I adore!) Heartwarming, hopeful, and emotional, I appreciated this one so much!

A cute, funny, fast read about 2 families stuck at Heathrow and REALLY needing a vacation! I laughed sooooo hard at times I thought my ribs were going to crack!! A funny, light, quick summer read!

Perfect read for lockdown! I liked the main two characters and thought it was well written.

Thank you NetGalley for my complimentary copy in return for my honest review.

Well I know first hand how disruptive an ash cloud can be on travel plans, so could sympathise with both Harriet and Sophie for not getting the holidays they had paid for.

In an inspired move though they offer to swap houses for a fortnight, in order to have a holiday from their norm, and a staycation of sorts.

It is always a delight to read a Michele Gorman novel, and I just loved the concept of this one

And even more so I loved how our two leading ladies changed over the course of the book, as did their families.

There are memorable scenes involving Spot (who is not a dog), a hot tub, a rather unusual massage to name only 3 of them!

Harriet is rather unusual, she likes to be incredibly well organised, but even her family who are used to it can find it a bit exhausting. Whereas I took a rather fast dislike to Sophie's husband Dan.

I loved every second of this mad holiday swap and seeing just what these new circumstances did to each person.

Thank you to Trapeze and Netgalley for this copy which I have reviewed honestly and voluntarily.

A funny, escapist, laugh - out- loud comedy that will brighten up the lockdown period! I thoroughly enjoyed it and can't wait to read more by the author

I can't think of a book I've enjoyed more than this. The two main female characters are awesome , James is adorable and Dan is a bully and the storyline draws you right in. Not without a good dose of humour, this book is fantastic.

Struggling a bit with this book - I normally finish a book every two to three days but I’ve been getting through this for over a week. Nothing fundamentally wrong with it - just didn’t grab me.

It must by coincidence be the best time to read this book if you are trapped by the virus in a similar way the two families are trapped by the volcanic ash cloud. It’s not the most original idea as similar themes have been done in film and book but it’s an easy read to while away a few hours.

When two very different women trade homes for a holiday after their trips to Italy get cancelled, both get more than they bargained for - not least an insight into everything that's good and bad about their lives. Light-hearted and fun.

The Staycation is the latest book from Michele Gorman. Two families meet and casually chat at Heathrow Airport, en route to Rome. As time goes by, it becomes clear that an ash cloud has cancelled all international flights. Rather than go home, the two families decide to swap properties! One swaps their London home for a country retreat, while the other leaves their farm for the bustle of London. It sort of reminds me of the movie The Holiday. It's a fun and light read for sure - perfect beach read. Throughout the switch, the couples may get to know each better through the Staycation, rather than an escape from their norm. Relationships may shift and family secrets may be revealed...all of the workings of a typical vacation, right?

Thanks to this sweet author Michele Gorman for a digital copy of this book in exchange for an honest review!

A great lighthearted read, fantastic storyline, great characters who you will either love or hate. A must read during this summer.

If you are looking for a fun entertaining read The Staycation should be just what the doctor ordered. It’s a simple idea which revolves around two families who meet and start talking at Heathrow airport, both en route to Rome, but flights are being delayed and the airport looks like it’s about to close due to an ash cloud descending on the UK. What do you do when your holiday plans fall apart ....well you could swop homes with the family you have just meet and make the best of the situation by having a holiday in a strangers home..... A London home for a country retreat....
This book is well written with some entertaining witty banter in the form of text messages. Enjoyable lighthearted read.

The Staycation ⭐⭐⭐⭐/5

A lighthearted summer read that was just what I needed at the moment.

Two families. One cancelled flight. And a last minute house swap...

I love a book that offers escapism and this book does just that. A funny tale with a serious premise.

Very apt for this year when a staycation is what's on the cards.

Harriet and Sophie are two completely different women. Will the staycation have a silver lining for them both.

From the off the scene was set, with an absolute stunner of a scene as our lead, Orla, races to an art gallery to see the work of The Aidan Byrne, a wildlife photographer.

The chemistry was fizzling between the two, and I couldn’t wait to see the backstory. From this to a memory that made the hairs on the back of my neck stand up with amazing ecological scenes, beautiful and captivating, but sprinkled with smile moments, accident prone type comedy and gorgeous romance.

I’ll admit the second part of the book, the now, and the epilogue held my attention a smidgen less, but all in all a fantastic read that I’ll be recommending all over the place. Thanks so much to Rachel at Rachel’s Random Resources for the book in return for an honest review and for allowing me to be part of the blog tour.
