What happens when two lost souls find each other? Aurora Rose Reynolds writes a smoothly written story in her newest book Hooking Him. I have to admit, I love everything she writes and I am happy to say, I was not disappointed with her newest edition. It’s a sentimental story that pulled me in from the first page and the characters are realistic and vulnerable and share sizzling chemistry.

Calvin is a gruff cop, but once you get to know him, you can see the sweetness hidden inside. He was hurt in the past and is afraid to give his heart away again. He is hot, forward and aggressive and he is also a really good guy.

Anna has moved to a small coastal town in South Carolina from Chicago after she decided she needed to make some changes in her life. She enjoys everything about small town life and the genuineness of the people who live there. She left her life of wealth for a simpler life and she doesn’t regret it.

Calvin and Anna are perfect together. They click and help each other overcome the hurts from the past. This is a feel good, tantalizing story with sizzling chemistry. I loved the story and all the colorful characters and I am sure you will, too.

Anna is loving her new life far away from her old life. Working with Chrissie at her bakery and having the Golden Girls as neighbors keeps her happy. When a run-in with Calvin puts her on high-alert, she’s determined to get the grumpy man out of her mind.

Calvin is annoyed with himself when he can’t get Anna out of his mind. Her feisty attitude has him intrigued, even though he has no intentions of seeing her again. With friends, neighbors and family interfering it’s inevitable for these two to get together. But will their pasts keep them away from a possible future together?

This is a great series and I love seeing the other characters in this book! Anna and Calvin have issues with their past they need to deal with before moving forward. I love all of ARR’s books and looking forward to the next one!

I really enjoyed this book although it seemed a bit tamer than other novels I have read by this author. Calvin was definitely a sexy alpha male and Anna was a well-rounded and interesting character. I thought it was odd how quickly the flip switched between Anna disliking Calvin and then being head over heels in love, but it was still a fun, quick, and romantic read. There was enough conflict to keep things interesting and even had some touches of mystery and suspense, but like a Hallmark movie, everything was wrapped up in a perfect little package in the end.

Something I absolutely loved about this book was the secondary characters. Calvin's family was amazing, Chrissie and Gaston were about the nicest people ever, and Edie and her friends were absolutely hilarious.

This is definitely one that I would recommend for fans of sweet romance with a hint of mystery.

Anna and Calvin were such a cute couple! While it was definitely a fast attraction, I could really feel why they were attracted to each other, it wasn't just about hooking up. I loved the side characters so much in Hooking Him. I had no clue when I requested Hooking Him that it was the third book in a series, I looked it up about halfway through the book, and was delighted to find that there are two other books, one of which features Gaston and Chrissie. I will be diving in to those shortly!

There were two other issues in Hooking Him, a murder that Calvin was working on and Anna's family issues. I thought the murder he was working on was well done, it added to the story without being overwhelming and made sense. I struggled some with Anna's family issues. I didn't seem to really get dealt with.

Overall Hooking Him is a cute, fast paced romance. You won't regret picking it up.

An absolute perfect story. Aurora is one of my automatic must read authors and this book was right up there with some of my favourites. I loved reading about these characters and the comedy that was written in was perfection. The storyline had me hooked. I absolutely devoured it and no doubt will many more times in the future.

So I keep crying about this stupid Covid slump I'm in and honestly the last week felt like I was going a little crazy. I re-read an old favourite but I couldn't get into any of the books I'm committed to read. Then I opened my kindle to find Hooking Him front and center and I couldn't put it down.

Obviously I am madly in love with the beautiful Aurora Rose Reynolds and her writing is perfection. So it was a given that I was going to love the book. Seriously the only thing that could have made it more exciting is if it was a Mason.

Anna was one of those characters that I instantly wanted as a bestie. She wasn't sure who she was, but she knew who she didn't want to be and she had the strength to go looking for a better life. And I loved that she wasn't afraid to face the things about herself that made her uncomfortable. She was a really great heroine.

In true Aurora Rose Reynolds style Calvin was perfection. He knew that Anna was everything he wanted in his life and he set about making that happen. Not that she put up much of a fight, but then again, who would? He had the whole growling, possessive alpha thing down. But it wasn't in the normal over the top way.

The story was awesome and kept me guessing. And the chemistry was perfect. This was the perfect read to help restore my sanity.

I always enjoy books by this author because she really knows how to spin a good tale and Hooking Him is no exception. It is filled with really likable characters and interesting situations, some things that made me just laugh out loud and others that made me swoon. And what more could you want from a book? It hit all the right notes for me.

The third book in the How to Catch an Alpha installment was very enjoyable and I loved reading Aurora Rose Reynolds’ series about strong dominant males. This book can be read as a standalone but it is nice to know some of the characters of the other books as they do appear in Hooking Him.

Our main character Anna McAlister arrives in our small beach town of South Carolina and dives deep into work at Sweet Spot, a bakery that sells delicious baked goods. Our hero is Calvin Miller and he is a handsome strong detective who may seem tough and mean but is a real sweetheart and displays amazing care toward the people he loves.

I gave this book four stars and I really enjoyed this book and series. When I first dived into this series I expected it to actually be about werewolves, but was not disappointed in that when discovering it was a contemporary adult romance. It was definitely insta-love and an instant attraction sort of book and it did make me cringe a little when reading it in some parts where it seemed so cheesy but I enjoyed this series a lot when it came down to the romance and the connection that both Anna and Calvin had. At first Anna plays slightly hard to get and finds that she maybe moving too fast after ending it with her ex-fiancé but she slowly sees that Calvin is a good guy and they start to warm up to each other.

I love the way they connected well together and how Calvin was really understanding and caring toward Anna. I didn’t think I would like this series the way I did and I’m so glad that I picked it up and read the first two books. It was great to see the instant love and connection between our heroine and hero was great and it was nice to read the quick love and just smile all giddy like and I absolutely adored their relationship.

I’m so excited to find out if there will be more books to this series!

One of my go-to authors since I started reading indie romance has been Aurora Rose Reynolds. Her Until series is still one of the series I go back to when I’m in a reading slump because the storylines are hot, fun and have enough drama to keep me engaged. But the thing I love most about Aurora's books are how easy they are to read. Sometimes, you need to escape from heavy and dark books, even if they are romances too, and her books are the perfect antidote.

The third book in this series is about Anna, the woman who start working in Chrissie’s bakery in book two. Having left her high society life, rich fiancée and fancy job in Chicago for the quiet country town, to try and find happiness. She lives above Edie, a crazy elderly lady who becomes one of her closest friends. When Anna, Edie and two of her friends are pulled over by a cop, who is handsome, fit but so rude. He insults Anna to her face, so a few days later, goes into the bakery to apologise. Despite the chemistry between them, anna is standoffish and pushes him away, and this occurs the next few times they meet. When another incident brings them together once again, with Anna the hero, Calvin asks her out and she hesitantly accepts. They both slowly open up about their past relationships and hurt, bring each other out of their comfort zones to try new things. When Anna’s past comes back to haunt her, they form a tight team and work together to ensure that they will have a future together, with zero miscommunication and a whole lot of love and support.

Calvin was a bit different to the other two heroes in this series, as he initially wanted to keep Anna at arm’s length, but the attraction was too great and, in the end, he couldn’t help but chase her. He has other things to deal with too than his new relationship and I actually liked how the storyline of this book didn’t revolve solely round the romance, there was a bit more suspense and mystery on the side. Anna was reluctant to jump into another relationship so quickly, she wanted to find her own peace before starting anything with someone else. But she managed to find that with Calvin, finding closure with her old life and opening her heart to something new, and in the end, that’s where she found her happiness.

Very similar to the Until series, so if you’ve read that you know what a treat you are in for. I really would recommend to anyone who loves a good romantic easy read!

3.5 stars

This is my first romance read by author Aurora Rose Reynolds and I liked it fairly well, but something about it just didn't grab me. The early chapters between the two leads were filled with sizzle and great banter, but after that things kind of waned for me as far as their relationship.

I did not read the books that come before this in the series and maybe that is why I found myself having so many questions about the female lead. We learn that she leaves a wealthy life in Chicago and finds solace in a small town, working in a local bakery. But we never hear WHY she chose a bakery. If she was raised primarily by nannies and other staff how does she know how to bake? Why does she find working at the bakery so fulfilling? Is that her passion? We hear nothing about that professional choice and why she chose it. We know she left a billionaire lifestyle behind in Chicago for a new start, but we never learn how she chose THIS town, why she chose a tiny studio apartment, did she bring no money with her from Chicago? This details are never fleshed out and it makes this character feel oddly foreign to the reader, even after reading an entire book in which she is the lead.

There is also A LOT of mention of the couple who were the subject of one of the previous books in this series and it seems really odd how much they get mentioned in this story if you are reading it as a standalone.

The story itself was cute, well-paced, and a decent read, but it doesn't feel nearly fleshed out enough and it definitely feels like a middle book in a series and the reader doesn't get enough info for it to be a true standalone romance.

I received an ARC of this title from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

OMG I’ve been waiting to read this book for a while and now that I read it I really love this couple so much I really wish I there was more books in the series because I really love to read more about Anna and Calvin.

This book is so good. Anna and her "golden girls" had me laughing and smiling. You couldn't go wrong with these girls becoming your friends and having your back. Anna moved away to start a new life that would make her happy instead of doing what everybody told her to do. I couldn't blame her on that one. She is a sweet girl and just wants to move on from her past. Calvin is a detective. He is trying to work these cold cases and its taking a lot out of him. Anna and Calvin start spending time with one another and I love it. There is a part in here that I didn't see coming at all. Highly recommend reading this book. Love it.

I like the series and excited to read Hooking Him. The story followed a similar theme and format as the others but I didn't feel a connection with the characters.
Anna's passive aggressive behavior with Calvin was a bit tiring over time. Calvin was your typical Alpha male but sadly he didn't stand out.
There were some funny and sweet moments and the story kept me interested.

This was all around a great read! The main characters were fun, entertaining and loveable; the secondary friends were hilarious, supporting, and loving; and the terrible family were sure to bring our your overprotectiveness wanting to take of Anna.

Anna is new to town fresh from a life in Chicago that did not make her happy. She thankfully meets up with Edie, an old woman she adopts as family, and forms a new bond with an amazing woman. The Golden Girls were hilarious and add great comic relief.

But let's get to the goooood part, Anna meets sect Detective Calvin Miller. Calvin was sweet, sexy and oh so alpha. He is immediately taken in by Anna and on a mission to spend time with her. Their sweet romance was refreshing.

Add in the antics Anna and her oldest gang always seem to find themselves in, a past boyfriend and terrible family riding into town and a detective with out chasing murders in town and you have yourself hooked on another ARR book.

I really enjoyed this book.

Anna is a woman who is trying to figure out who she is. She has been trying her entire life to please her parents but she has become a woman she is not proud of. After giving everything up, she moves to a small town to reevaluate her priorities. While doing so, she meets some of the most amazing and funny ladies. I would love to have friends like this. She has a great boss and job. She also catches the eye of Calvin the hot detective.

I liked Calvin right from the beginning. Even though he came off being a little harsh, he was doing it to protect her. Since then, he has been doing everything he can to make up for it. I loved that he was able to read her so well. He knew when to push and when to pull back.

I also really liked Calvin's mom in this story. She was the perfect meddling mother!!

I voluntarily read and reviewed an ARC of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
This book started off well, and Anna was an easy character to like. It was lovely to see the old characters from the previous books, and the light romance was fun to read. Then it got a bit too familiar too quickly, with Calvin calling Anna 'baby constantly', and being a bit forward. Maybe that's just me, but he wasn't particularly swoon-worthy. Then the side story of the murders probably took too much from the main story.
The golden girls were wonderful though!

ARR serves up a sweet small town romance read that shows sometimes the hardest decision can be the best one. Anna was introduced in Baiting Him (Alpha #2) where she was working in Chrissie’s bakery. You knew she had a story to tell and I was super excited to learn in.

From the outside her life back in Chicago would appear to be perfect but it was filled with things that left Anna feeling empty. So she packed up a few belongings and left for a new beginning. Calvin is a detective in Anna’s new home town and with an eventful introduction thanks to “the Golden Girls” thus begins their love story.

What makes Anna so lovable and relatable is that she isn’t a damsel. She isn’t actively looking for a man to complete her life. But the undeniable attraction and chemistry between her and Calvin is one that is so enjoyable to get lost in. Calvin is a great hero in this story where he’s got that classic alphaness that ARR is so amazing at but he isn’t controlling. He’s working through his own past hurts to let this new love in.

Aurora Rose Reynolds creates the best love story about finding a person who complements you, shows you your own strength and that sometimes you can’t pick your family, but sometimes you can!

Another sweet (pun intended) and light romance read from Aurora Rose Reynolds.

Anna left her old elitist life in Chicago behind in search of a life she could be happy to lead. And, well, it leads her to a small seaside town. Just as she started building a life that could make her proud and started really making friends, Calvin shows up and throws everything on it's ear. Calvin is a police detective that's been burned in the past but one look at Anna and he knows he's met someone worthy of getting back out there for. Just as the attraction between them begins to really heat up, Anna’s past and Calvin's old relationship ghosts rear their ugly heads.

This was a cute and quick read. The secondary characters of the "Golden Girls" and their antics were hilarious. This is definitely an insta-ish lovey romance but without a lot of angsty conflicts. There is some drama/conflict at the end but it is quickly resolved. I also really enjoyed Anna rediscovering her life and pursuing her happiness outside of the realm of fame and fortune. Oh, and did I mention there's a dog? Because there's a dog.

All in all, Hooking Him is a fun and sweet read! Definitely something we all need these days.

Loved this book! Anna andCalvin were one of my favorite couples .....

poor Anna has had money in her world but she didn’t have the love of her family, she was a pawn to them. She leaves Chicago to find herself and she meets Calvin, their spark is instant! And the book is just a whirl wind.... loved this series I really hope there is another one !

Thank you netgalley! For the chance to read this series ! Thank you Aurora Rose Reynolds for letting me review this arc

When I saw the next How To Catch an Alpha on Netgalley I may have done a little dance (but please don't tell anyone). I immediately dropped every book of my To Read Pile and jumped into the story of Anna who is working in the cupcake bakery of Chrissy (yep from Baiting Him). She started there after escaping her family and ex-fiance in Chicago. Leaving everything behind, she starts a new life and she enjoys the new friends she is making (her landlord is hilarious).
She doesn't want to have anything to do with men, because they usually were after her for her family and not for her. So, she certainly doesn't want anything to do with the hot officer in town: Calvin Miller. However, this bad ass officer has set his sights on her and soon sparks are flying everywhere.
And of course, Aurora let's our previous alpha's make an appearance for extra swooning. Yihaa!
When Anna's past is catching up with her, will Calvin still want her? And can Anna overcome the dangers that involve Calvin's work? Find out for yourself in this wonderful - and did I mention hot - read. Five out of five stars from me and a special thank you to Netgalley for providing the arc.
