Hooking Him is a quick and easy romance book. Anna leaves everything behind in Chicago, including her fiancé, to live a simpler life in a small beach town. I enjoyed the easiness of the story with Anna working at a bakery and renting a room from Edie, a senior citizen who lives life to the fullest. The little bit of humor that is mixed into the story is in thanks to Edie and her fellow Golden Girls, they had me laughing every time. Calvin is a steady character who is instantly attracted to Anna, well except for their first meeting when he compared her to his dog. The connection between Calvin and Anna is there but this one lacks a lot of the chemistry and steam I was expecting, which is perfect if you are looking for a more innocent read. I loved the little bit of mystery/action that was thrown in at the very end. *I received an Advanced Copy of this book via Netgalley in exchange for an honest review |
Book 3 in the How to Catch and Alpha series and I am loving it. Anna and Calvin were so good together. She was looking to start over in a new place and enjoy life after leaving her unfulfilling life in Chicago. What she wasn’t looking for was love but love had other plans. Calvin was attracted to her the first time he saw her. She pulled him in but he was a little leery at first due to his past relationship. She was able to show him that she was not is ex and the one for him. Loved them together and loved their HEA. |
4 Hooking Him Stars Hooking Him is the third book in Aurora Rose Reynolds, How to Catch an Alpha series. It is a stand alone and can be read alone. “You, my beautiful girl, have a warrior’s soul, and today you proved you’re not just willing to take risks to benefit yourself. You’re willing to take risks to help others, and that is true bravery.” Anna is strong woman who finally has has enough of her old life. She wants more in life then social parties and to worry about what people think of her. She moves to a small town and starts working in a bakery. The simple life suit her down to the ground and she start making some amazing friends which she didn't really have before. Not interested or even thinking of men, one falls into her lap. “If you take one lesson from today, let it be that you should live every single day of your life like it’s your last. Drink when you want, laugh until your soul is full, open yourself up to falling in love, spend time with people who are important, and enjoy every moment, even the scary ones.” Calvin Miller just wants to keep his small town safe from crime and make sure his loved ones are happy. He didn’t anticipate falling hook, line and sinker for the new woman in town. Juggling his career and love is hard and it has burned him in the past. Hooking Him is an instant love and connection between Anna and Calvin. It was a lovely quick read that was perfect to get away from it all for a bit and I couldn't put it down. |
3 1/2 Stars for the detective and the baker! Anna ran from her life in Chicago, looking for a down to earth life Instead of the prestigious life she was leading. She didn’t believe in chemistry between two people like in the romance novels ... that is until she meets Calvin. Will Anna and Calvin’s new love be able to withstand her past life coming back to haunt her? Although I enjoyed this book, I found that it was predictable. I liked Anna and Calvin, but I wasn’t in love with them because I felt at times the banter between them was awkward. But the steamy scenes were well written and hot! I received a copy courtesy of Montlake Romance through NetGalley in exchange for a honest review. |

Another brilliant book from Aurora, this was a bit more of a slow burner but with the usual wonderful side characters. I’d love to meet the golden girls but sure wouldn’t get in a car with them! Calvin’s parents sounded wonderful too. Highly recommended. |
I love a good alpha male read, and Aurora Rose Reynolds delivered. It took me a bit to get into the story, but once I did, I was fully enthralled in Anna & Calvin’s story. This book was exciting, it was fun, and I really enjoyed both of the characters. It was also a very quick read and I have to admit, I definitely wanted more. I'll be looking into more books by Aurora Rose Reynolds, for sure. |
Love the cover....hawt! Hooking him was a cute romance of one girls search for real happiness! The local police officer Calvin catches Anna’s eye and although she’s determined not to fall at first... eventually they both succumb. What did I like? Easy peasy romance. The golden girls were so much fun, I hope I have half as much fun as them when I’m older! Anna tried not to fall for the local law enforcement officer Calvin but the pull is too strong. Would I recommend or buy? This was a fun romance with some fun drama. I’ve not read much by this author but I enjoyed the read. Four stars. I would definitely read more from this author! |
Normally I devour books by this author; but I will admit it took me awhile to get into this one. But once I got into it, I enjoyed it This book has love, laughs and tender moments and moments that will keep you guessing. I can't wait to read more from this author. |

As much as I love Aurora Rose Reynolds, I could not finish this book. The heroine has the same name as my mom and that was a bit icky to me. Sorry. |
I have loved this series! And I’m sad that this is the last book in the series :( I laughed so much while reading Anna & Clavin’s story! I voluntarily reviewed this book. |

Yet another great Alpha Male read by Aurora. Loved Anna & Calvin’s story. Their connection was off the charts. Anna’s past was always going to catch up with her and with a few murders in the area, detective Calvin was going to be busy! These stories are never long enough for me and I need more! As always, well written with a HEA. |
I am really enjoying this series and these sweet small town romances. I have really been enjoying this trope. Aura Rose Reynolds has captivated me with these characters. If you are looking for a fast paced, sweet read you need this book. Hooking Him was such a sweet read that I really enjoyed. |
Aurora Rose Reynolds always delivers novels that are so engaging that readers just have to keep coming back for more. Hooking Him is the third and final novel in her “How to Catch an Alpha“ series. The novel follows the story of Anna and Calvin as they navigate attraction and emotional baggage. Reynolds gives readers another sexy and beautiful love story. Readers cannot go wrong when they pick up an Aurora Rose Reynolds book. |
Melt-your-Kindle hot and a great romantic story. Loved this one! Many thanks to NetGalley, the publisher, and the author for my ARC. All opinions are my own. |
This was a quick and pleasurable read. It was such a cute story line! I enjoyed the story and the characters thoroughly and can't wait to read more from Aurora Rose Reynolds. |
This is feel good romance!. “I’m not perfect, baby, not by a long shot. And I don’t want you to think I am. Perfect is an impossible standard to live by.” Anna and Calvin's story is a super sweet quick witty romance that gives you all the good feels. They come from different worlds but they want the same thing. I wouldn't say it's insta love at first sight because they had a little tension filled start but their journey is pretty quick and all gogogo from the moment they give into each other. I loved her super sweet but feisty personality to his broody and teasing one!. The chemistry is positively smoking between them but those sweet tender moments.. gahhh!!. I lived for those. Id be doing this book a disservice if I didn't mention The Golden Girls and their hilariously outrageous shenanigans that had me roaring with laughter!. Please let me be like those ladies, they're my heroes. As a whole this book is just super sweet. It's a journey of self discovery and personal growth. It's about facing the unexpected and putting your past aside to make room for your future. I swooned, laughed and fumed. I just really loved reading their journey and all the good feels that came with it!. It's short, sweet and a delightful treat that you definitely don't want to miss out on!. |

Cute story. Very insta-lovey, but I liked seeing Anna grow. And Edie, Pearl and Dixie were a riot. The twist at the end was surprising for me. |
I am never disappointed with Aurora Rose Reynolds books and this one does not disappoint. I love it from start to finish. It was a joy to read. I recommend it and looking forward to the next one. |
Reviews by the Wicked Reads Review Team Ruthie – ☆☆☆☆ This is the third in a similar themed series, but is a standalone. I would recommend them all to you as fun, passionate, and easy reads. Here we have Anna, who has escaped her privileged but not fulfilling life for a complete change of pace and a chance to make friends. That her landlady and her Golden Girl gang soon adopt her and bring her more friendship and fun than she has experienced in a lifetime tells her all she needs is here. When their adventures also introduce her to the very sexy cop Calvin, then things get more complicated than she may wish, but in a good way. I loved the humour, the passion, and the scenes of small town life, as well as the difficult crimes facing the PD. It painted an appealing picture of the place, even if solving the murders led to a difficult incident and potentially derailed everything. If you need to completely escape from your reality, then this book would be a good place to find yourself instead! Avid Reader – ☆☆☆☆ 3.5 stars M/F Romance Anna loves her new life. And while many back home can't or won't understand why she left the way that she did, Anna knows that she is much happier. Her life is full of people who care for her now. She has a job she enjoys. Calvin is perplexed at the recent string of murders. The town is small. Not many people are unknown to him and he can't figure out why these people are being killed. When he pulls over one of the townspeople, he gets an earful and an eyeful. Anna is new and Calvin can't help but see how amazingly beautiful she is. With the town conspiring to get them together, and Calvin and Anna not really wanting to fight their attraction, both will need to decide if they can take the risk. Anna's past won't stay hidden and with secrets that are crashing through her barriers, she'll have to decide if it's worth her sanity to stay put or to do what's asked of her. These two will have to fight for what they want, chase down their secrets, and lean on everyone around town. It's a cute story, but kind of lacked depth for me. |
When you read this series you know exactly what you're going to get, and I'm ok with that. It's fun, sweet, low on angst and high on swoon. It's a fairly quick read with lots of alpha swoon and I was left with all kinds of flutters. |
