Anna arrives in the beach town in South Carolina to find happiness which she couldn’t find in Chicago with her ex-fiance and greedy family. When Anna meets Calvin, he knows right away she is the one for him. Their relationship is fraught with murders Calvin is trying to solve as a detective and dealing with Anna’s dysfunctional family. This book was a great summer (or any season) read and I could not put it down!

This was a quick, great read - all in one sitting. This is the first time I've read anything by this author, but liked the writing style and the quick pace. Anna left her family and fiance for a new life that she's always wanted with people that accept and love her. Enter Detective Calvin who annoys her, but in all the right ways. It was a fast paced book. The ending/mystery part of the book wrapped up fast at the end and I would have liked that to expand a little more, but overall a great read that I really enjoyed. Will be looking to read the books prior to this one in this series.

I loved everything about Hooking Him. It was a lighthearted sweet and cheeky story with awesome characters! Cal and Anna were so great together! He's a sweetheart of an Alpha and has a wry sense of humor. Anna is on a journey of realizing who she wants to be and who she allows into her life. Their meet cute was adorable and once Cal decides what he wants, watch out! The Golden Girls are the gift that keeps on giving here and i adored them! Such a fun read!

Cute enough read. Anna leaves her comfortable life behind in Chicago to 'find herself' in a small coastal town. Her landlord is a free spirited older lady, who along with a couple of friends, show Anna how to live a bit more. Anna meets Calvin, the serious and hot detective with his own shadows. Calvin needs to overcome Anna's resistance to getting involved. Anna's ex-fiance shows up to stir up trouble and there's an overarching mystery in the background to add a bit of drama.

Nothing relatively new here and both the ex and the mystery don't add too much excitement to the story. Overall and enjoyable read but nothing too earth shattering or novel here.

This was so good. I couldn’t put the book down. After getting out of a relationship Anna is ready to just move on and start all over. But then she meets Calvin. Will they be able to survive and overcome their past hurts. Anna was funny and I couldn’t help but fall in love with her. Then Calvin I couldn’t help but root for him too!!!

I was pulled right into this story. The story has laughs, sweet love, suspense, and secrets.

Before reading this story please read the below books first
Catching Him (How to Catch an Alpha #1)
Baiting Him (How to Catch an Alpha #2)

This is Anna and Calvin’s story. Anna left her life behind and moved to town. Now she is working at a bakery and enjoying life. Calvin meets Anna when he pulls over her friend. He is smitten and pursues her. But she is trying to keep her distance. With all the people in the small town she has no chance of that. Once it gets out who she is her family and her ex come for her. But she is not leaving. She fell for Calvin and is determined to stay in the town with the people who care for her. Can she or will danger from Calvin’s job make her want to leave? Or will they fight for a future together?

I loved these characters and the side characters. I felt I could connect with the characters and the story was a great read.

I highly recommend this book and can’t wait for the next story from this author.

I received a copy of this book from NetGalley for a honest review.

Aurora Rose Reynolds new book Hooking Him, was fun, sweet and a quick read. Anna has come to the small town to “find herself” because one day she took a look at who she was and she did not like it. Anna comes from a wealthy background but lacking in love, now in this small town, she is starting to like herself. Calvin is a cop and has been a bit unlucky in love but once he meets Anna, he's hooked. As with all Ms Reynolds books this one left me feeling good, I would have like a bit more “story” but still a lovely read.

A quick, fun and sexy story.

➵ Heroine: Anna McAlister left a life of luxury, her tepid engagement, family and friends in Chicago and moved to small town meaning to start over and find herself. She doesn’t want a relationship but never expected the gorgeous detective who’s determined to woo her.

➵ Hero: Calvin Miller just wants to fight crime and keep old ladies from causing car accidents. He didn’t anticipate whirlwind Anna would catch his heart hook, line and sinker. But trying to balance his career and a love life that has some unforeseen added drama is a bit challenging.

➵ Plot: This is a pretty straight forward plotline, Anna and Calvin find each other attractive in more ways than one but their lives present obstacles they need to figure out, which they do together. This was my first Aurora Rose book and hopefully it won't be the last. That said, I jumped in the middle of this series without getting that feeling that I was missing something, which is a definite plus.

➵ Feels: This was a quick and easy to read story. It had lots of cute and fun moments between the main characters as well as some very charming old ladies, a dog and return characters from past books.

➵ Sexiness: There were definitely very steamy moments.

➵ Facts: Hooking Him is book #3 of the How to Catch and Alpha series by Aurora Rose Reynolds. It is a stand alone, contemporary romance told from both points of view with a happy ending.

Hooking Him is book 3 in the "How to Catch an Alpha" series by Aurora Rose Reynolds. This is a standalone read that is told in a dual POV. I do recommend reading the previous books in the series.
Calvin and Anna are simply amazing! The chemistry between them literally sparks off the pages. The story is written perfectly with the right amount of sweetness, romance, heat, feels and then added in to keep the readers enthralled - intrigue, suspense and mystery. Loved it!!!
Anna is a sweetheart- has been hurt in the past but doesn't let that keep her down. We see she has some moments ... but oh she's got a great character. Sweet, hardworking, and sassy. Calvin is a police detective who is oh so alpha (swoon). He is very hardworking as well, dedicated to his job yet the moment he sees Anna- insta love goodness 😍. The secondary characters add to the story, making this a phenomenal read by Aurora Rose Reynolds. I hope maybe there will be a spin-off of this series and we'll see these characters again. Calvin and Anna are my favorite, with his swoony Alpha goodness and Anna's sassiness. This is a must read.

My Rating: 4.8 stars ***********

Anna McAlister has left Chicago, her ex, parents, and everything else behind her for a new start. She hopes she finds that in a small little town. Not looking for romance as a lot of stories go, she of course is attracted to a detective Calvin Miller. He is also not looking for a relationship, but as always, they find each other. Just as it looks like maybe something could happen between these two, he is having to work a string of murders and she has to deal with her past.
When you begin this book the relationship between Anna and the golden girls really adds to this story. In the opening, you get a full taste of it when they are on there way to bingo and are not going to make it. Of course, Anna and Calvin meet and he in not so many words calls her a dog or makes reference to a dog, which as a male you do not make those statements around a female at any age, I was taught this at a very young age. Calvin not so much. He is scolded soon when he arrives home by his mother who has of course heard about it and has told him he will apologize to Anna. He does so the next day but again even the apology does not go well for him either hence what you have is two people who get under each other’s skin and you the reader is waiting for when they will get under the sheets.
A very good book with good characters and I really liked the golden girls who really added to the story. Her parents were not really parents but were needed for the story. Of course, the two lead characters were good as well. A book that is very much worth your time.

What a super sweet perfect summer read! Head to the beach with this one and find a woman ready to find herself, a broody hero and a riot of small town characters. This story brings humor, steam and a bit of suspense and it is all rolled up in a slow burn romance.

Anna gets all the props here. She has had an elite upbringing with very little affection from her parents. She pulls up her bootstraps and decided she is a better person than that. She leaves the sheshe folks behind and moves across country to find out who she wants to be. She develops some great friendships. Gains the Golden Girls of sudo parent/grandparents, and falls in love with the most eligible bachelor in town.

Perfect read when you want to get away from it all. Loved it!

What happens when two lost souls find each other? Aurora Rose Reynolds writes a smoothly written story in her newest book Hooking Him. I have to admit, I love everything she writes and I am happy to say, I was not disappointed with her newest edition. It’s a sentimental story that pulled me in from the first page and the characters are realistic and vulnerable and share sizzling chemistry.

Calvin is a gruff cop, but once you get to know him, you can see the sweetness hidden inside. He was hurt in the past and is afraid to give his heart away again. He is hot, forward and aggressive and he is also a really good guy.

Anna has moved to a small coastal town in South Carolina from Chicago after she decided she needed to make some changes in her life. She enjoys everything about small town life and the genuineness of the people who live there. She left her life of wealth for a simpler life and she doesn’t regret it.

Calvin and Anna are perfect together. They click and help each other overcome the hurts from the past. This is a feel good, tantalizing story with sizzling chemistry. I loved the story and all the colorful characters and I am sure you will, too.

Anna is loving her new life far away from her old life. Working with Chrissie at her bakery and having the Golden Girls as neighbors keeps her happy. When a run-in with Calvin puts her on high-alert, she’s determined to get the grumpy man out of her mind.

Calvin is annoyed with himself when he can’t get Anna out of his mind. Her feisty attitude has him intrigued, even though he has no intentions of seeing her again. With friends, neighbors and family interfering it’s inevitable for these two to get together. But will their pasts keep them away from a possible future together?

This is a great series and I love seeing the other characters in this book! Anna and Calvin have issues with their past they need to deal with before moving forward. I love all of ARR’s books and looking forward to the next one!

I really enjoyed this book although it seemed a bit tamer than other novels I have read by this author. Calvin was definitely a sexy alpha male and Anna was a well-rounded and interesting character. I thought it was odd how quickly the flip switched between Anna disliking Calvin and then being head over heels in love, but it was still a fun, quick, and romantic read. There was enough conflict to keep things interesting and even had some touches of mystery and suspense, but like a Hallmark movie, everything was wrapped up in a perfect little package in the end.

Something I absolutely loved about this book was the secondary characters. Calvin's family was amazing, Chrissie and Gaston were about the nicest people ever, and Edie and her friends were absolutely hilarious.

This is definitely one that I would recommend for fans of sweet romance with a hint of mystery.

Anna and Calvin were such a cute couple! While it was definitely a fast attraction, I could really feel why they were attracted to each other, it wasn't just about hooking up. I loved the side characters so much in Hooking Him. I had no clue when I requested Hooking Him that it was the third book in a series, I looked it up about halfway through the book, and was delighted to find that there are two other books, one of which features Gaston and Chrissie. I will be diving in to those shortly!

There were two other issues in Hooking Him, a murder that Calvin was working on and Anna's family issues. I thought the murder he was working on was well done, it added to the story without being overwhelming and made sense. I struggled some with Anna's family issues. I didn't seem to really get dealt with.

Overall Hooking Him is a cute, fast paced romance. You won't regret picking it up.

An absolute perfect story. Aurora is one of my automatic must read authors and this book was right up there with some of my favourites. I loved reading about these characters and the comedy that was written in was perfection. The storyline had me hooked. I absolutely devoured it and no doubt will many more times in the future.

So I keep crying about this stupid Covid slump I'm in and honestly the last week felt like I was going a little crazy. I re-read an old favourite but I couldn't get into any of the books I'm committed to read. Then I opened my kindle to find Hooking Him front and center and I couldn't put it down.

Obviously I am madly in love with the beautiful Aurora Rose Reynolds and her writing is perfection. So it was a given that I was going to love the book. Seriously the only thing that could have made it more exciting is if it was a Mason.

Anna was one of those characters that I instantly wanted as a bestie. She wasn't sure who she was, but she knew who she didn't want to be and she had the strength to go looking for a better life. And I loved that she wasn't afraid to face the things about herself that made her uncomfortable. She was a really great heroine.

In true Aurora Rose Reynolds style Calvin was perfection. He knew that Anna was everything he wanted in his life and he set about making that happen. Not that she put up much of a fight, but then again, who would? He had the whole growling, possessive alpha thing down. But it wasn't in the normal over the top way.

The story was awesome and kept me guessing. And the chemistry was perfect. This was the perfect read to help restore my sanity.

I always enjoy books by this author because she really knows how to spin a good tale and Hooking Him is no exception. It is filled with really likable characters and interesting situations, some things that made me just laugh out loud and others that made me swoon. And what more could you want from a book? It hit all the right notes for me.
